Calling all classic cars, Calling all carts, it’s time for the 4th of July parade and WE WANT YOU!! This is one of my favorite events here at the Club so whether you want to be in the parade or just watch from your front yard we have lots of options for you. Beside the fun carnival set up on the driving range with climbing walls and mechanical bulls with a picnic style dinner and a DJ, we also have a fancier meal served upstairs with some of Chefs finest in an air-conditioned setting so you can take your pick. Use the App under Upcoming Events and sign up. Make sure you also reserve a space for your car/cart if you want to be in the parade. And carts are available to rent from the Club if you would like to try it.

The following day July 5th the Main Clubhouse will close down for the long-awaited refresh. This is expected to be a 2-month project because there is a lot to be done. We have a beautiful herringbone hardwood floor being installed in the front living room and the Bistro Lounge. There is a custom-made carpet going across the 3 back dining rooms, the Bistro Dining room, the Versailles and the Fleur de Lis will all be in a speckled green and camel art nouveau pattern. The walls will get a lighter and brighter coat of paint and be finished off with new artwork.

The Bistro Lounge will also be getting a makeover. Besides the floor, we are making the bar longer and adding stools as well as making it more user friendly for staff by improving its functionality behind the bar. We are considering also adding a more casual component to the Lounge by taking out the standard tables and making it into more of a gathering area. Adding some sofas and low chairs around smaller tables and a few high-top tables along the windows to increase the seating in the room; as well as, make it more functional for the way we are now using the space. The Board was told loud and clear in last year’s survey that Membership wants more casual spaces to hang out and we think this would help fill that void. The Board is still discussing this idea; so, it will probably not be in place for the reopening of the Clubhouse.

While the Clubhouse is closed, we will have our meals, drinks and events available down at the Palm Grille. It has been given its own facelift with new furniture and light fixtures as well as our fabulously reinstated palm trees so it is ready for a stream of visitors! Chef will expand the menu for this season and Allyson Brown and her team are working to create some fun events and takeaway options to keep as all busy during the shutdown.

The golf course will also be shut down for it’s yearly aerification from July 10-27 reopening Friday, July 28. Cody our Superintendent and our ground crews will be hard at work aerifying, crews will be reworking several drainage areas to mitigate wet lies and the company that installed our bunkers will be here making some repairs due to settling of the liners. It will be the optimum growing season to allow the greens and fairways to come back lush and ready for play.

Well, that’s all for now. I hope you come out to see and enjoy all of the fun new toys we are acquiring and especially I’ll look for you at the 4th of July event. The fireworks at the end are All-star and remind me of why we are ROCC!
