Like many other areas of the world, technology in the golf industry is developing at an incredible pace. The introduction of new ways to analyze the golf swing as well as club and ball dynamics allows us all to gain a much greater understanding of why the ball moves the way it does as a result of a particular golf swing.

The addition of the Performance Center in the coming months will allow us to deliver a deeper level of swing analysis than we have before. This in turn will allow you to gain a greater understanding of how to improve your golf game.

To date the instruction team has been able to analyze the WHAT of a player’s golf swing using two pieces of technology:

1. Video Analysis – we use an iPad to video the golf swing and play it back in slow motion to analyze the swing.

2. Trackman – the little orange box you may have seen on the ground behind a player when they hit balls. This is a radar-based device that measures the club and ball interaction and produces data around that for better understanding of the ball flight that is produced.

Both these technologies will continue to be used in the Performance Center, but we will be displaying the information on large TV screens so it will be much easier to see and understand.

Moving indoors allows us to introduce new technology to the membership that does not work well outdoors. This new technology will allow us to show the HOW of your golf swing.

Force Plates are a device that is embedded into the floor and the player stands on them when they hit a shot. It then produces data about how you interacted with the ground to produce the movements we see on video and the club/ball interaction that produces the golf shot. If you tried to swing a club without standing on the ground, you would have a very hard time producing anything that resembles a golf swing. It is this ground interaction that is critical to producing movement.

Understanding how we use the ground to produce motion and club speed is invaluable to helping players better understand their movement patterns as well as how to effectively change them. We are excited to introduce this technology to you soon.

It was shared with me that some members are having a difficult time finding open lesson times on my calendar. Although my calendar gets busy from time to time and when looking online it may show that no lesson times area available, I will always work with you to find time for anyone looking for a lesson with me. If you are ever unable to find a lesson time through the app or website, please email me and I will work with you to find a time that we can get together as soon as possible.
