TABLING HAS NO BORDERS

WE'VE HAD A WORLD MEETING, And what a meeting it was! From what I've learned - Round Table is a place where you meet 'old friends' for the first time. And for me - this is just what happened at the world meeting in Copenhagen.

I have been a part of the international board for a year now, and this September marked the first time actually meeting anyone from the board in person. It did not take long after arriving at the hotel before I was sat with two brothers from the board talking like old friends. It might sound like a cliché but once you've experienced it you know that tabling has no borders.

This is a very concentrated edition of Legacy - focused on the world meeting. And as most of you might know - when you have fun you don't have time to document it. It's been a struggle finding pictures from this amazing event. But I guess most of us just had so much fun living it. For those of you who wasn't able to attend - I hope you can daydream away in this edition and look ahead to the next big event: The HYM in Estonia, or the WM in Southern Africa.

This was my first world meeting, and it also marked the end of my year as a board assistant. I'm very happy and grateful to have the opportunity to continue working with Legacy for another year - and to continue working with a fantastic PR team. Lead by the incredible Mr Paul Hoeksema supported by George Marin and myself.

At the World meeting when we had the opportunity to showcase our work this past year I had tears in my eyes. It suddenly dawned on me what we had achieved as a team - what WE as Round Table had achieved. The brand that we've had the opportunity to manage and represent this past year has grown and we've given it a voice! And its all thanks to all you brothers out there who live and breathe Round Table - we're all part of the puzzle that create this organisation.

Our incoming president Mr Jayant Agrawal has put his trust in me to continue my work with Legacy. I am humbled and grateful for this opportunity and will happily continue to work for this organisation and all you tablers out there to deliver a magazine that inspires and represents you.

I will always look back at the RTI WM in Copenhagen with happiness and look forward to meetings to come. I really hope to see you all out there and meet 'old friends' for the first time. Take care and enjoy this edition of the official RTI Magazine - Legacy!

THE ABOVE QUOTE IS SIGNIFICANT to the Round Table International Board. Every year a new team comes in with new energy, ideas, and systems. The International Board is a team of voluntary members from across the world. They have the passion, commitment, love, and respect for this movement and want to serve the fraternity to the best of their ability. The team of 2022/23 is also well prepared and on track to achieve its set goals.

As a past councillor and an RTI Board member for multiple years, I felt a sense of disconnect in the board among initiatives and activities in most of the changeovers. As I had presented in my motivation letter for RTI Vice President, 2022/23 will be a year of continuation. I will follow the main pillars of consistency, continuity, and stability.

Some of the plans for the coming year are as follows:

YEAR OF MENTAL HEALTH

This year most of our promotion will be dedicated to mental health. This is one of the most discussed issues under our Tabler4Tabler initiative. We will have a specialised branding plan to show consistency and uniformity in all our communication concerning mental health.

EXTENSION AND EXPANSION

The association report for WM 2022 suggests that 26 associations in our fraternity have less than 25 members. These associations will be our primary focus, and the regional chairman will emphasise helping them grow. We will also have the concept of buddying association, where a large association from the region will be requested to take a small association as a partner association.

In the last three years, we have seen an annual reduction in the global membership of RTI. To overcome this, we have planned various growth initiatives to facilitate extension and expansion. Global Operation Head Hunter will be promoted to support extension efforts. Expanding into new countries is critical to enhancing our global reach. We have plans to put in efforts to establish our footprints in Mexico, Vietnam, and Spain. The RTI E-Club, chartered recently, is also under our focus zone, and extra steps will be taken for its growth.

We hope these efforts will see positive growth in numbers.

PR AND BRANDING

The PR and Branding already reached higher standards last year. RTI has been able to achieve strong positioning as well as visibility. Consistency and continuity will be the core of PR and Branding activities. We also plan to have a presence on Tik Tok and YouTube. Further, we intend to create a guideline document for associations to use on social media. Having participative, inclusive and engaging social media posts would be the objective for RTI and Associations.

Legacy, our magazine, has set high-level quality standards. We will have the quarterly publication of Legacy this year.

CSO AND RT CARES

The 5 pillars of RTI will be the core inspiration around which the community service activities will be designed and planned. The Waste Challenge, Movember and Blood Drive are examples that will be executed innovatively to achieve better participation. Our Community Service activities will be planned and activated in close coordination with RT Family Members.

RT Cares (Foundation) is also registered in Luxembourg. Collecting the details of projects globally and marketing the same to corporates to raise funds will be the primary focus of 'RT Cares'. We, as a board, want to fund at least two projects via RT Cares in the coming year.

TABLER.WORLD AND IT

As a trend, RTI will be sponsoring specific value addition and user-friendly developments in the .World Platform. It will also be generously supported by Ladies Circle International and, to a certain extent, by other family members. We have initiated and hope to have RT Denmark and RT India on board our platform, thus resulting in a nearly 100% membership onboarded.

Thanks to RTBI, our Wikipedia page will be regularly updated in close collaboration with them. The website will also be updated, making it more interactive.

RTI UNIVERSITY

It is overwhelming to see RTI University's progress in the last two years. The increased acceptance and participation in Leadership and Personality development programs have motivated us to make them more effective. Apart from the regular talk shows and training (facilitation), the university will focus on developing online modules specific to roles. We also want to partner with renowned universities and provide co-branded diploma courses to our members. The RTI University will also help arrange facilitators and design programs for associations that will be conducted at the local level.

SPECIAL PROJECTS

Special projects were introduced in the tabling year 2021-22. With the experience and learnings, we would like to take it to the next level during this tabling year. Approaching corporates, especially from the hotel and airlines sector, with the idea of providing benefits to members, sporting events at HYM and WM to make it more lively and fun, promoting RTI Branding among sports personalities and 30 Acts of Kindness in a newer format are some of them.

We are very much interested in continuing with the Explore Round Table initiative for the coming year. It is an effective way to promote fellowship among new members. However, the decision for the same will be taken after discussions at the world meeting.

These are the ambitious goals the RTI Board 2022/23 aim to achieve. The goals will be further compartmentalised as required by the specific board members, and efforts will be put into getting a synergic benefit.

Apart from setting goals for RTI, we as the board are very much committed to the obligations and responsibilities towards Round Table Family. We will put the best of our efforts into enhancing the side-by-side relations and act for the mutual benefit of all.

Yours in international table

OUR COMMON JOURNEY

TAKING UP THE ROLE AS RTI VICE PRESIDENT brings a massive responsibility with it. I am proud serving you as your RTI Secretary for two years as well as CEE Chairman for the last year. We were shaping the future with the RTI legal structure and were on fire for tabling continuing the path for our global movement! We showed how we all can be #StrongerTogehter and achieving much more. Serving the movement must be one of our highest goods.

My plans as your RTI President? I have three primary goals:

Supporting Associations with less than 50 members: Worldwide we thirtysix associations with less than 50 members. This is more than half of all our associations worldwide. We need to understand why they do not grow and support them in every way we can.

Expansion and growth: Expansion is essential, as we saw during the last year with Czech Republic and Albania. We should also focus on our own associations to keep them stable and growing.

“Keep Round Table cheap”: Round Table events are becoming increasingly too expensive. We must get as many Tablers as possible to various events all over the world. Many Tablers cannot afford many of the events as they are too expensive. Let us bring them back to an affordable price-value performance.

Every association worldwide has excellent ideas, models for membership, public relations and so on. Sharing best practices among each other is one of the easiest things we can do. We do not need to invent the wheel over and over again – it is like in our aims and objectives “adopt - adapt - improve”. Setting realistic goals is the key to a successful year.

During the last years we painfully saw within RTI that ethics have the play a major role within our movement. Behaving like a gentleman and trying to add high value to our wonderful organization needs to be the main focus.

Sustainability and experience is what RTI needs. Being ready to expect the unexpected: Serving for five years in the Austrian National Board and three years within the RTI Board gave me the opportunity to learn how to deal and handle difficult situations accordingly.

I am honoured and privileged to represent your association as RTI Vice President. It is fantastic to see, how we are working together as a team to strengthen Round Table worldwide.

WOW, WHAT AN AMAZING WORLD MEETING THIS WAS.

COPENHAGEN, DENMARK AND ALL OUR BROTHERS in Denmark have been excellent hosts for what will undoubtedly be remembered as the best World Meeting in many years.

This meeting had everything from the fantastic pre-tours to massive events at the Tivoli hotel. Our friends came together and topped off an excellent year. At night, we had epic parties at the hotel and at Tap1, followed by early morning clubbing in the heart of the city. It was clear to see that some members had virtually no sleep at all.

The business was conducted during the day smoothly and efficiently, with decisions made to solidify the future of Round Table. Tivoli played an excellent host to all the meetings, and delegates and councillors had a great time. Our friends on the RT Family were there, too, with the new MoU being signed.

Those free souls not attending the formal meetings had free reign over the city with many day tours, and private tours participated in. Nyhavn particularly, had a large following of Tablers and was buzzing all the time.

Nation’s night – what can we say?? Hosted in an epic venue, associations displayed delicacies from their countries. A crazy mix of food and drink was enjoyed, with many not able to remember large portions of the night.

The modern Bella Centre hosted the biggest Gala event in many years. We tried a slightly different format to the order of events, trying to improve the enjoyment for participants. A massive congratulations to the winners of the RTI awards, all well-deserving and worthy winners. It truly showed the value and truth of being Stronger Together.

Here is to Round Table Denmark, the conveners of the World Meeting and looking forward to doing this all over again. Estonia, here we come.

Yours
