Just give me a call…

OFFERING HELP is important - as important as it is sometimes also difficult. Sometimes it perfectly fine to say "just call me". Sometimes this puts the burden of reaching out on the person who might need less on his plate – not one more thing he should or could do.

AND SOMETIMES offering help could also be to check in, stop by, call, bring soup, talk, listen, just be quiet – if nothing is said, or needs to be said. No expectiations, just being there. In the best case, helping is offering to assist on specific things, steps, contributing ideas without pushing. Because it shouldn't add mental load of writing lists, create briefings and handovers, but add an easy option, for some things or moments to be easier.

OUR ORGANIZATION is built around this notion and I really believe that every one of us will have moments where he can offer help, and where we can do with some support.

WHY am I writing these lines? Because I had the opportunity of helping a friend by editing this edition of legacy – and because I have received help in moments when I wasn't able to put into words what I needed, or even understood myself how people could help me. When family-friends invited me and my sisters for lunch two days a week after school, they gave us much more than we would have ever asked for – or would have known to ask for. I believe it helps to understand both: How to best offer support in moments where there isn't one obvious solution or thing to do. And that if you need support, there is always a Tabler to help you out.

Halfway Through the Year:

Round Table International's Journey of United in Diversity

GATHERING IN THE VIBRANT CITY OF KATHMANDU, Nepal, round Table International recently held its Half Year meeting, embarking on a journey guided by the theme "UNITED IN DIVERSITY." This theme encapsulates the essence of rTI and underscores its commitment to harnessing diversity as a catalyst for community service and prosperity worldwide.

At the heart of rTI lies a team of dedicated gentlemen hailing from 12 different nations, each contributing their unique skills and perspectives to the collective mission. Leading this diverse ensemble is a profound honour, recognizing each member's pivotal role in advancing the organization's objectives. The team's reports presented during the meeting showcase the remarkable progress achieved thus far and offer a glimpse into future endeavours.

Central to this year's agenda is fortifying existing associations within the rTI network. We have identified associations with declines in membership and initiated discussions with rT Italy, rT France, rT Switzerland, and rT Southern Africa. Through questionnaires and productive discussions during their national board meetings, we aim to understand the changes since last year and propose measures for improvement. Two more associations are in the process of being approached for similar discussions. Additionally, we are working on levelling tablers with specific skill sets through various rT University Programs and direct communication on a club and area level.

Administratively, significant strides have been made, including the closure of the oVF entity in mauritius and the establishment of a new entity under Luxembourg law. The foundation rT Cares is nearing fruition, with the onboarding of directors and rT Family members. efforts to garner support for rT Cares through strategic branding and engagement initiatives are underway, signalling a new chapter in rTI's philanthropic endeavours.

A visit to the Netherlands provided an opportunity to collaborate with the upcoming rTI World meeting convening team in maastricht, promising an event of unparalleled significance. Additionally, joint board meetings with Ladies Circle International underscored the synergistic partnership between the two organizations, amplifying their collective impact on a global scale.

meanwhile, the rTI University continues to advance its educational initiatives, with plans for an online Secretary Training module and tailored learning opportunities for member associations. Tabler.World, an integral platform for member engagement, is poised for further enhancements, including implementing a prospect management tool to streamline membership recruitment efforts.

It's truly heartening to witness the collaborative efforts and shared experiences among the members of the rT Family. Your participation in our rTIHYm event in Nepal

10 RTI LEGACY | From TH e Bo A rd
Mr MARC GERMESHAUSEN, Round Table International President 2023-2024

has been invaluable, and we extend our deepest gratitude to each and every one of you. Together, we've embraced adventure and exploration and fostered bonds that transcend borders and cultures. Your presence has enriched our gathering, and we look forward to continuing this journey of camaraderie and discovery together. Thank you for being a part of this memorable experience.

As rTI navigates the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead, its resilience and adaptability remain steadfast, underscoring the fraternity's enduring legacy of unity in diversity. Amidst transitions in leadership, departing councillors are acknowledged for their invaluable contributions, paving the way for a new era of friendship and serive.

As the AGm season approaches, the rTI Board eagerly anticipates the opportunity to attend gatherings across the globe. regardless of our roles or backgrounds, we are all tablers united in our commitment to service and fellowship. Let's come together as equals, share in the camaraderie, and raise a glass to the bonds that unite us. Cheers to the spirit of round Table International!

As we reflect on the journey thus far, one thing remains abundantly clear: rTI's diversity is its greatest strength, uniting tablers around the world in a shared commitment to service, fellowship, and mutual respect. In embracing this diversity, rTI stands poised to realize its vision of a more inclusive and prosperous future for all.

RTI VICE PRESIDENT

A Support System like No Other!

Mr DANIELE CUSI, Round Table International Vice President 2023-2024

“Family and Friendships are two of the greatest facilitators of happiness.”

ATTENDING YOUR FAMILY AT THE RTI EVENTS is not just a physical presence; it’s about the emotional resonance that echoes through the laughter, tears, and applause. It’s a reminder that no matter why you are there, the act of coming together as a family is in itself a celebration of the event.

At club level, the presence of the Tabler’s families is one of the most important things to strengthen the relationship between Tablers. making your wife and your kids breathe the genuine atmosphere of tabling and making them active participants in charity projects will help your club have more people involved in all the projects and strengthen your relationship with them.

making your son breathing the Tabler’s life will help speed up his joining our amazing association. don’t forget about your daughter; her understanding of how round Table works will help our association find new prospects through her boyfriend/husband. The friendship that can arise between our kids will be another bond that will help strengthen our membership.

Having your wife and your kids next to you attending National or International events is the best way to make them experience the real Tabler’s Life! making them travelling will literally open their mind, and they will learn many things that schools don’t use to teach.

In my personal experience, I will never forget the smile of my son playing with our rTI President marc or his face while listening to the LaLaLa song. The call I had with him and my wife the night before the elections in Cape Town was maybe the most important call of my life; they gave me the energy and the determination to go and do my speech…and believe me, I really wanted to have them next to me during that speech.

The first rTI World meeting my wife and my son attended was in Brasov in 2019…I was a freshman Iro from rT Italy…It didn’t matter where I was; they always stood beside me. They helped me with every decision I took; they listened to all my speeches, saw me crying when I was tired and stressed, and were both crying with happiness when I was elected as rTI Vice President…After 5 years, I can’t wait to have them both with me in maastricht, ready to face the incoming year as rTI President together with them…

RTI PAST-PRESIDENT

Recognising Those that go Above & Beyond: Recognition Inspires

WHY DO WE HAVE AWARDS AT RTI?

As we know, round Table is a fantastic movement for young men. While we love being a part of this organisation, the voluntary nature of it poses some challenges. many facets of tabling keep us glued to the cause, such as travel, personality development, meeting new friends, developing our inner empathy and learning about new cultures. In this context, awards are important in motivating our members and wanting to contribute more to our beloved movement and the community.

WHAT ARE RTI AWARDS?

rTI rule book outlines a set of key awards including recognising a brilliant individual performance from Tabler of the Year, Collective Awards such as Association of the Year and Club of the Year, and awards specific to a focused area such as magazine of the Year and Social media Award. This year, the Board has decided to award the Waldo Thule Award to the association, which has shown considerable growth in membership numbers as a proportion of the total membership.

In addition to the above, each year, the respective rTI Board may decide to hand over additional awards to recognise outstanding achievements.

ARE THE AWARDS USEFUL?

As we all agree, we engage in tabling activities as we are passionate about what it is and how it could benefit many. Having said this, a recognition that is awarded at the rTIWm, which as you all know, is quite glamorous, can certainly assist tabling in a few key ways. The most obvious is the morale boost it provides to the winners. Award winners tend to continue their excellent work over the next many years of tabling.

Further, they become an ambassador for tabling, creating more awareness about our movement. moreover, good-spirited, healthy competition among brothers always gets the best out of all of us.

HOW ARE AWARD WINNERS SELECTED?

While the rTI president always has the final call on who wins what award, over the last two years, the presidents have consulted the Board and taken a vote to decide who wins the award. Board members vote as objectively as possible after going through the applications received. For certain awards, a certain board member's vote carries more weight than the others. For instance, the Pr team has a more significant say in deciding who wins the Social media Award, and the same goes for our rTI editor mikael when selecting the magazine of the Year award.

14 RTI LEGACY | From TH e Bo A rd
Mr NADEEN KUMARASINGHE, Round Table International Secretary 2023-2024

FEW TIPS IN APPLYING FOR AWARDS

Firstly, the applicant for the award needs to be convinced that they deserve a space within the final list of nominations. Please do not apply for an award if you do not believe you have given your best.

Then please ensure that the documentation is made to perfection. As you know, the rTI Board evaluates all applications and may not be aware of the particulars of the good work you have done. Hence, the details presented in the application form are of utmost importance. It is a pity if a well-deserving individual, club or association do not get the recognition they deserve due to a half-baked presentation of your efforts and achievements.

As Tablers, we are expected to maintain high standards of integrity. As such, always be truthful and upfront about the facts you include in your application.

do not forget the deadline for the award applications. It is always 42 days before the AGm date.

Finally, please feel free to reach out to me or any other Board member for clarification. We are here to help.

Good luck and all the very best!!!

On a Path of Growth

THE NEA REGION IS KNOWN as the “happiest” region in rTI. By happiness I mean satisfaction within our members to our movement and what it offers to us Tablers. This has been measured by a survey done by rTI a few years ago.

To our regions delight it has been possible to observe that rT activities are of considerable interest to our members after covid pandemic. Several wonderful events have been organized in our region during the fall, and our members have also participated in international rT activities in a commendable way.

However, the acquisition of new members arouses debate among our member countries every year, and increasing the number of members is one of the most important goals of each member country almost every year. When it comes to increasing membership, one of the most important things is monitoring and increasing the number of members in existing clubs. However, starting new clubs is also a good way to increase membership.

during the autumn, two clubs were founded in our region in a slightly unusual location. read all about our NeA highlights on the page 66.

enjoy the year 2024 and see you around the Table.

Dedication, Unity, & Energy Driving Meaningful Change

DEAR BROTHERS IN TABLING,

As The ASPA Chairman, I am filled with pride as I reflect on our member boards' outstanding achievements and dedication across Nepal, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, India, and the Philippines. At the same time, Singapore, New Zealand, Australia and Hong Kong have been quiet. The synergy and impact of our collective endeavours underscore the essence of ASPA, founded on bonds of friendship and service.

In Nepal, our 538 active members have set a high benchmark with initiatives ranging from health awareness campaigns to educational infrastructure development. The half-year meeting in Nepal was a showcase of our spirit, which was marked by exceptional organization and hospitality. my most profound appreciation goes to mayank, Sumit, and the rT Nepal teams, past and present, for hosting such a landmark event.

our 58 active members in Bangladesh have been exemplary, from planning new table inductions to engaging in philanthropic activities such as blanket donations in collaboration with rT India. Their commitment to environmental sustainability and infrastructure enhancements is commendable.

Through events like Comedy Night and charitable programs, Sri Lanka's innovative engagement with its community exemplifies the joy and spirit of giving. In including the support of many, India in particular, has shown remarkable achievements and ambitions. The JAFFA event, the extension of tables in dhaka, and the construction of 260 classroom blocks highlight our commitment to education and community development. The induction of 4 new tables and over 600 new Tablers showcases our growing strength. Completing a rainwater harvesting project in 15 schools and partnering with India Space to take over 60 Tabler children to ISro underscores our commitment to sustainability and education. round Table India will also host the rTI World meeting in 2025.

With its smaller yet impactful group, the Philippines has demonstrated great initiative in community service and is on a path to significantly enhancing its impact through membership growth and fundraising activities.

I am also excited to announce that preparations for the 2024 ASPA meeting, set for may in the Philippines, are advancing well. The team is dedicated to ensuring a successful and memorable event, inviting all to experience the unique hospitality and friendship of the Philippines.

Additionally, it is with great joy that I share ASPA 2025 will be hosted in beautiful Sri

Lanka, promising an event that will mark a significant milestone in our journey of service and friendship.

I am also delighted to congratulate rahul Agrawal on his election as the new ASPA Chairman-elect. His vision and leadership will surely lead ASPA towards new heights of success and community impact.

In conclusion, our ASPA community's dedication, unity, and energy drive meaningful change, fostering a culture of service and collaboration. Let us continue to share our experiences and resources, achieving even greater milestones together.

The latest topic in focus is illiteracy. Illiteracy remains a significant challenge worldwide, affecting millions of individuals across all age groups and regions. This adversely affects personal development, economic prosperity, and societal progress.

one of the most concerning aspects is that illiteracy is a worldwide issue. Approximately 773 million adults are illiterate, with a more significant impact on women, rural areas, and marginalised communities. Additionally, millions of children are impacted by a

CRASH COURSE

A TABLER'S SEVEN DAPPER DIRECTIONS

32 RTI LEGACY | C r ASH C o U r S e
RTI LEGACY | C r ASH C o U r S e 33

We've covered various pointers and even in-depth looks at ways to show off your fashionista side:

Whether you're walking down the aisle, making heads turn at work or spitting Table truths from your Club's podium

This time around, we thought we'd give a one-size-fits-all overall crashcourse dapper directions to looking, well, dapper. Sorry, that might be a mouthful, but here we go...

1 STAPLE UP

Ever heard of a capsule wardrobe? If not, do a quick search and a bit of research. The concept: stock up on wardrobe staples! Just like the missus has her little black dress, you should have your go-to all-rounders. Jeans that fit well, a classic blazer, leather & denim jackets, simple

(no

graphics) T-shirts, never-out-of-style footwear (check the previous Legacy article) and all this in neutral colours of course.

PS. There will always be a place for your Table shirts...

34 RTI LEGACY | C r ASH C o U r S e

2 FIT IN OR FALL OUT

A top tip with any clothing item is to make sure your fit compliments you. Regardless if you have a boep (a belly in Afrikaans) or not, having a good tailor at your disposal can easily transform any piece of clothing to make it look fantastic. If you have the means, customized apparel appears refined and provides increased comfort. Once your capsule wardrobe is the right fit for you, you can even experiment with your oversized and undersized pieces to create a stylish look, not a messy one.

3

FIND YOUR FIRE, FIND YOUR STYLE

Imagine a world where everyone acts and dresses the same...the boredom would be the end of us. We're all different, and we come in all shapes and sizes. Find your style...Of course, we're not talking about dressing like a colourblind chameleon but fielding a tasteful pairing of garments, patterns and colours. Keep in mind that developing your style involves trying different things, and the older items in your closet may hold some surprising and fantastic outfit combinations. So, spend some time experimenting with colours and shapes to discover what complements your body shape and style.

RTI LEGACY | C r ASH C o U r S e 35

4

BE A SMART SHOPPER

Sure, your favourite rugby or football shirt has its purpose, but go easy on the Hawaii 5.0 and torn denim look, you might just be splashing hard-earned cash on items you only wear once. It might take a bit of effort, but take the time to shop around and always remember that quality trumps quantity any day of the week when your dapper arsenal sports pieces that you love, strutting around in style will be second nature.

5 INVEST IN QUALITY LEATHER

Quality leather never goes out of fashion. Whether you're whipping out your swaggering wallet to pay your debt when losing a coin challenge or you're looking to tie together your overall debonair look with a stylish belt and shoes at a Chairman's induction dinner, you can't go wrong with leather—again, sticking to the staples here - going with black, brown and tan. We're not saying stay away from other colours, but get your basics down before you soar in the unchartered fashion skies. Which brings us to our next "direction".

36 RTI LEGACY | C r ASH C o U r S e

6

EXPLORE COLOUR

Yes, this might seem a bit contradicting to previous points, but can work wonders if you execute your combinations correctly. A great tip here would be to have a fashion colour wheel (a quick web search will do) as a reference. If you're anxious about introducing colour into your outfits, begin with a single colourful item and pair it with neutral tones for the rest of your ensemble. As you build up your confidence and settle in your own style, colours will be your ally.

7 GROOM & BLOOM!

A vital aspect of your overall donning the dapper is regular grooming and, of course, personal hygiene. Sure, the couch caveman look might appeal to some, but we'd prefer you sport a ready-to-pop-out-of-a-Lamborghini-to-close-the-next-deal look. Make friends with your barber & if he's a great guy, maybe invite him to your next Club meeting - your new friend, the barber, will know how to make you shine with the right haircut. Practice top-shelf hygiene, use skin products, invest in a quality cologne (don't overdo the application) and break the stigma of visiting a beauty salon for a manicure and pedicure.

AND THERE YOU HAVE IT...

Now that you've adopted these directions adapt them, improve them, step out and Table on!

MOST OF US HAVE HAD THIS QUESTION AND MIGHT HAVE STUMBLED ON THE REPLY.

RTI LEGACY | WHAT IS ro UN d TABL e? 39 ANYWAY:
TABLE?
STEPHAN ZIPPERLEN, RTI Content Manager 2023-2024
Mr
"Well, you know… actually… hmm – you know service clubs, like Rotary and Lions?…"

STOP.

THE CHALLENGE of explaining round Table is based on how people see it. The first impression of who we are, what we do, and why we exist.

of course, this will vary from region to region, from Tabler to Tabler - sometimes leaning more towards fellowship, in other instances focusing on hands-on service or traditions. With that in mind, the core of round Table remains the same for all of us - unified by our intention to Adopt, Adapt and Improve.

BACK TO THE ORIGINAL QUESTION:

"So anyway, what is round Table?"

" round Table is a network of friends. Young people – men in Round Table, women in Ladies' Circle – who have decided not to look away but to do. We are action-driven and find ways to help - either with our own hands or by organizing fundraisers. We build friendships by working together. We value friendship. We are a global network of friends, united through the work we do."

40 RTI LEGACY | WHAT IS ro UN d TABL e?

NOTICE HOW I COMPLETELY AVOIDED MENTIONING "those who must not be named" this time. While the brands of other service clubs are well known globally, sharing the core of service & networking with round Table, they bring along many affiliations, which we don't see in round Table (exclusive, elite, service through donating own money, old people, stale traditions, etc). We want to leave these affiliations behind and describe round Table as what sets us apart. on that note, it is also important to choose our vocabulary: When talking about round Table and what we do, we often use words that come naturally to us: Service, Fellowship, Service-Club, Handson. These words are not common enough to be used when first explaining our Club to someone else. There is no need to learn the above paragraph by heart when talking about round Table, just try to avoid a couple of words in the first conversation ("just like... ", service club, hands-on, fellowship) and replace them with friends, do, action-driven, volunteer work, friendship.

THE CHALLENGE OF COMMUNICATING WHAT ROUND TABLE MEANS TO US has certainly been a part of the organization since its origins. With the current discussions around GenZ, this next generation is very much in focus right now - and these insights can help us to better reach and address the generation of upcoming Tablers. But essentially, this is not a new challenge for us: for 97 years, we have successfully reached the next generation of young people and grown the international round Table network together. one of the main channels to reach new Tablers will still be face-toface, yet understanding the preferences, values, and focus of GenZ will help us be present on their channels and devices. This can only be strengthened through the round Table brand, both for new members and supporters.

Tablers are friends of life and friends for life.

In addition to round Table's motto, "Adopt, Adapt, Improve", the idea, philosophy and mission of round Table can be described in an elaborate explanation but can also be expressed in one notion:

Tablers are friends of life. They like to live and know that many people are less fortunate than they are. They want to share their zest for life with those who have not been or are not so lucky. Tablers are friends for life. They have friends worldwide, regardless of whether they have met before or not.

WHO IS ROUND

What does Round Table mean to you?

Why do you put in the work, the time, the late nights?

FOR MOST OF US, IT'S EASY TO SAY "Sure, it's worth it "- But when it comes to finding the right words - we often go back to "Well, do you know what a service club is?... "To better explain what round Table is to others, it is important to understand it for yourself.

Please excuse my mediocre translation of the following text from German, but I believe it is something that works well in telling the story of how it feels to be a member of round Table:

"How's it going?"

"Great," you say. "Great, thank you." And you mean it. on both accounts. Because you're doing great and you're grateful for that. That doesn't mean that you don't face any difficulties or have challenges to overcome; of course not. But you know that your problems are small compared to far too many people in far too many places.

LIFE IS YOUR FRIEND. And if you want to give back, pay it forward. You want to share, help, tackle things. Together with people who are like you. People from all over the world. Friends of life, like you. And your friends for life. For you, giving is not a sacrifice nor a handout. It is a joy, an honour. It enriches your lives and, in the process, provides a hell of a lot of fun for yourself and your Club.

IF STANDING ON THE SIDELINES MEANS BEING COOL, WE ARE NOT COOL. We are not indifferent to the concerns of others. We can't just stand by and watch when people are faced with the ruins of their lives after an earthquake when parents can't feed their families, and when children don't dream of a PlayStation because they'd rather be healthy. Sorry, but we can't do that.

Instead, we roll up our sleeves and face the adversity of others head on. "We don't simply write a cheque and send aid packages; we prefer to get our hands dirty and deliver these aids in person. We believe it's important to witness the joy in the eyes of the children we're helping, and we're certain that you feel the same way."

ROUND TABLE?

WE ARE OLD-FASHIONED, BUT WE EVOLVE.

We honour the nearly 100-year-old values and statutes of the duke of Windsor. In keeping with our tradition, round Table is reserved for men between 18 and 40 (45). Not everyone values responsibility and commitment anymore, but we do.

We still live our values according to our motto, AdoPT. AdAPT. ImProVe. We constantly breathe new life into these values and are always open to fresh thoughts, ideas, and visions - yours, for example.

WE ARE WITHOUT MEASURE.

We take great pleasure in the feeling of accomplishment that comes from building a playground with our hands. However, this is not enough for us. We also desire to have friends worldwide - individuals we may have never met before but who trust us wholeheartedly and are willing to invite us into their lives and businesses. We envision a genuine social network made up of real people where we can meet and connect with others who share our values. This includes attending club meetings and events in our local regions and other parts of the world. essentially, we want to experience the joy of "meeting old friends for the first time."

You are one of us. You are a Tabler.

Welcome,

JOURNEY.

AJOURNEY CAN BE DESCRIBED in several ways, such as, a destination, a challenge or even an experience. However my journey is something more than just a destination or a challenge, it’s everything and more!

My father was a tabler and long story short, he convinced me to join round table and so I did. I knew of stories of table, and thought to myself this is going to be boring, but I’ll give it a shot. You know that feeling of not knowing what a certain food or drink tastes like, because you never had it before, and the moment you’re tongue touches the surface of the solid or liquid, you question yourself as to why you never tried it sooner. Now I did not go and taste a piece of regalia or go and lick some guys forehead! I simply fell in love with table from the get go.

My friends in Table (present) are much older than me, so I see myself as their little brother (I’m 21 years old) and it’s that comforting feeling that allows me to be one with every one and not have to put a mask on. In my blue days, I’d always wear a mask, just to cover myself so that no-one asks questions and people can leave me alone.

I always thought I’d be top student and get the most beautiful girl in high school, and quite the opposite happened, I just got bad grades. Non-the-less when I realised that tablers are simple people living extraordinary lives, I was okay with having bad grades, being bullied in school, and loosing in life etc.

When I realised that I’m a tabler, I was okay. My life feels like a movie every time I think about it. I come from a small town, where the wild animals roam the streets as we live right next to the Kruger Park, and where you go into the bush as a boy and come out as a man.

My journey is something more than just a destination or a challenge, it’s everything and more!

Fast forward to the “now”, I’m working in the city and helping people out regarding table work. If you would ask me what will your next ten years would look like, I’d imagine living with my parents and living off from them. However, I got a job from another fellow tabler, and one thing led to another.

So my journey, cannot be called a journey, because the word journey states something that had happened and finished its goal, my goal has yet to be achieved. I’ve merely scratched the surface!

experience of laughter, shared emotions, companionship, and memories to cherish for a lifetime!

round Table 7 Pafos promises an unforgettable event to all attending. Their previous experiences of hosting international events, including the World meeting in 2007 guarantee this!

The story behind the logo of rTI HYm 2025 CYPrUS PAFoS our logo combines four main elements related to the history of our country but also the hosting town of Pafos.

First of all, Aphrodite, the Goddess of Love & Beauty. Swim in the sea at her legendary birthplace, Petra tou romiou, visit her sanctuary at Kouklia, or discover her hidden baths, where the goddess met her lover, Adonis, in secret. The figure of Aphrodite is also on round Table Cyprus rondel.

Second, the Pafos Castle is one of Cyprus’ most iconic landmarks. originally a Byzantine fort built to protect the harbour, the castle was rebuilt by the Lusignans in the 13th Century and was later dismantled in 1570 by the Venetians. The ottomans rebuilt it in the 16th Century when they conquered the island.

military base protecting the route of ships travelling through the Suez Canal to the colonies.

The colors remind you of our sand and sea while the intense purple and pink have been chosen as the main colors for our memorabilia.

BON BINI ROUND TABLE 204

ARUBA

A charter is always special for the round Table The Netherlands. decades ago, there were periods when 5-7 charters in one year were normal. Nowadays, the Netherlands is richly filled with almost 200 clubs and 3000 members. What is unique is that in the past 8 months, no less than three Tables have been chartered, namely rT202 Amsterdam, rT203 Texel and rT204 Aruba.

56 RTI LEGACY | R O u ND T A bl E A R ub A
By Mr MARK MEJIER , President 23-24, Round Table The Netherlands & By Mr BEN KIN , District XI Chairmen, Round Table The Netherlands

On february 10, round Table 204, Aruba was officially established and became family of round Table The Netherlands. The third Table on an island after rT176 Curaçao and rT 203 Texel, and the second Table in the Caribbean. It was an unforgettable charter weekend with 50 enthusiastic Tablers and ladies.

Supervising a charter is a fun yet time-consuming activity for the President, Vice President, expansion Committee, district President and mother Table; it takes over a year or sometimes even two years. A charter in the Caribbean brings additional challenges, such as distance, 5-6 hour time difference, and cultural differences. Attending a digital meeting means getting up at 02:00 at night or taking a 10-hour flight to be there physically.

THE CHARTER WEEKEND

Thirty-five degrees, sun, sea, beach, palm tree, cocktails.... The ingredients for a perfect charter weekend. Then, on Friday night, we sat on one of the most beautiful beaches in the world (Arashi Beach), enjoying a BBQ and sunset with Caribbean beats in the background and feet in the sand.

When you think it can't get any better, your expectations are exceeded by a catamaran ride across the azure sea with crystal clear water. Amstel Bright in hand and dreaming away on the swell of the waves. But then it really begins, from swimsuit and Table Polo to "Jacket Tie ribbon Pint." The excitement can now be seen among the Tablers to be installed, and we will start the Charter exactly on time by Aruban standards. After the speech, the President strikes 5:44 p.m. with the presidential gavel to officially Charter rT 204 Aruba at restaurant "Windows". Quincy takes over after his installation as the President and proudly installs the members in the presence of guests from the Netherlands, Austria, england, Suriname and Curaçao. After gifts and speeches, it is time for drinks and dinner. The atmosphere is excellent, and it seems like the group have been best friends for years. The mojitos, mimosas and wine flow profusely.

In the distance, we see a party bus approaching, already partying and driving from bar to bar, and the afterparty continued almost until sunrise.

did we mention that Table round Aruba had its own booth during the Carnival Grande Parade in Playa oranjestad, completely in style with Table. A bucket list to experience the Caribbean Carnival, what an atmosphere, costumes (or well costume... feathers), and wonderful samba sounds of a parade with lots of pomp and circumstance, where with 15,000 participants, there is no end. What a conclusion to an unforgettable charter.

FROM INITIAL CONVERSATION TO CHARTER

In 2021, the UC started investigating a round Table on Bonaire and Aruba. Soon, Kevin van drumpt (Tafelaar Almere, erik Willems and robert morsch (both (former main Board) got notice of the investigation and wanted to support this actively. on the initiative of robert & erik, there was a meeting in July 2022 with robert, edzard (son of robert), Kevin and mark (UC). Shot in the dark was that edzard lives in Aruba and knows the Table; Kevin spends several months a year in Aruba, and Table member Yannick Wilsoe had moved from Curaçao to Aruba.

Several consultations with Tafel Curaçao, former Tablers and appeals in newsletter and magazine have ensured that an enthusiastic group of 5 started. A conscious choice was made not to have an expat Table, but rather a Table with Arubans and dutch people.

After many digital discussions and an active role by Kevin van drumpt, a good foundation was laid, and after some time, Quincy showed his willingness to take the chairmanship role. From 5 members and some potentials to 12 members and some aspirants. even after the Charter, maintaining (intensive) contact with the round Table is important, especially in the first few years.

FOUR QUESTIONS FOR CHAIRMAN QUINCY OFFRINGA

1. How did you come into contact with the Round Table? Through edzard and Yanick, they called me to see if I was interested in joining the round Table. At that time, I didn't know what it entailed or what it would mean for my future.

2. What got you excited?

It didn't excite me at first; I would normally turn this down, but the unknown triggered me to participate in this anyway, and I haven't regretted it for a moment. I would recommend it to anyone, and I am now excited and proud.

3. Why did you join and even become President?

reading about what the round Table entailed, I thought this would be a good development in my life and future.

4. How do you see the Round Table in 5 years? What would you like to have achieved?

A deepened network in Aruba in all work sectors, new friendships for life.

A NEW, NEVER TO FORGET EXPERIENCE BY BEN KIN.

There is nothing more unique than to charter a new table. I have been lucky that my association rT The Netherlands was so active in chartering new tables the past year, and I witnessed some of these charters.

But on Friday evening, the sun slowly went down in the sea, and we had a beach BBQ. It was the first time I met these new faces in real life. I was immediately impressed by how good a group they have. All of them are fantastic guys, and I am proud that some were born and bred Arubans in this new group of friends.

The next day, at Beautifull Golf Course, was the setting for the Charter. All the new guys had healthy nervosity, as shown in their questions. As new Tablers, some of them never whore a tie and Jacket and asking how it'll all work. But the new Club President was also prepared.

Then mark meijer, rT, The Netherlands President, started the ceremony with erik ten Vergert, rT The Netherlands Vice-President. After formally creating the club one by one, all the Tablers were inducted, and presents were handed out.

Next dutch Tablers, we were also very proud that 2 members from rT1 Suriname and 2 members rT176 Curaçao joined for the weekend. This shows the good bond in the Americas region. rT176 Curaçao was already invited to the Americas meeting before, and both of them will be invited to join the next Americas meeting.

This unique event of a Table Charter is something I can recommend to any Tabler. Please show your support to these new Clubs when they are formed, and you will not be disappointed.

SERVICE & FRIENDSHIP

MY HYM 2024 IN KATHMANDU FRIENDSHIP

"Are you all set for your trip to Nepal the day after tomorrow?"

This question suddenly hit me...

RTI LEGACY | S er VIC e & F r I e N d SHIP – HY m 2024 61

AS A SEASONED TRAVELLER, this time, I was unprepared and felt overwhelmed with a sense of stress. What more have I missed besides the daunting task of packing? What do I need to pack and what is the average temperature like in Kathmandu? It is currently 10° Celsius in Germany, but it must be significantly colder over there since it's located at the foot of the Himalayas, right? my go-to weather app shows a temperature of 18° Celsius. Could this be accurate?

3 DAYS LATER, my weather app showed its worth. With a pleasant 18° and sunshine during the day, a little chilly in the evening, but not too cold with a hoodie or jacket doing the trick. Immigration and customs on arrival at the airport were quick and despite the early arrival, our hosts, rT Nepal were standing by for our pick-up which added to a sense of relief and a very relaxed arrival experience. As we set out, the first sights, sounds and smells create an initial impression. Some buildings resemble those in neighbouring countries, as do the daring electrical connections on the pylons, yet there is a unique quality present in this place.

IT WAS NOT WHAT I EXPECTED, hardly any tuktuks, loud honking, or excessive rubbish on the streets. And so, my Nepalese adventure began...For the first two days, I stayed with my outstanding home host, a former rTI Board Assistant, Vimal, and his lovely wife monisha. He not only provided me with a place to sleep

but also took care of my daily planning - something I had completely forgotten to give my attention to in a state of stress. Within a heartbeat, our itinerary began as a small travelling group formed with John and Adam from rTBI. our guide, Pravin, told us that he wanted to take us to Swayambhunath. Curiously "Where to?" I asked. To which he replied, "To the monkey Temple". And just like that, we were off to the iconic Buddhist temple on a hill in Kathmandu.

WE ARRIVED AT A MAGNIFICENT white temple with a golden spire and eyes on all four sides of the building. on the one hand, I felt like I was being watched, and on the other, I sensed the deep spirituality emanating from this place, and the believers there. Prayer bells and singing can be heard from all corners and colourful prayer flags hang from the top of the temple dancing in the wind in all directions. Artists can be seen all around the temple displaying a wide variety of art for sale, something for everyone. After a keepsake in the form of a group photo, we continued to our next stop - one of the 3 royal squares in Kathmandu and its Hindu temples. This time, there was a different style of architecture, yet the profound spirituality that radiates from this place remained unchanged. It was evident that this was more than just a temple, it was a museum too, which featured intriguing artefacts dating back hundreds of years. The very impressive structures consisted of stone and wood, with highly intricate carvings on the beams. Almost breathless, I lingered in the courtyard for an extended period, just admiring the pagodas.

62 RTI LEGACY | S er VIC e & F r I e N d SHIP – HY m 2024

THE WHOLE EXPERIENCE did not get emotional until the next day when John and Paul asked if I could show them some of the service projects that round Table Nepal supports and promotes. This sounds exciting, I thought, so I joined in to take in the experience first-hand. The journey to Station 1 took just under half an hour. The half an hour was filled with shared information about the service projects carried out. This included the 180,000 trees that were planted last year within 2 months, organised blood donations, book donations, teacher training, schools, and much more.

OUR FIRST STOP was the Sushma Koirala memorial Hospital, which specialises in plastic surgery. Cosmetic surgeries? Not really. The facility manages the outcomes of serious burns, cleft lips, jaws and palates, hand deformities and other conditions resulting from accidents and other diseases covered within the field of plastic surgery. There are only two hospitals like this one in all of Nepal. Coming from a developed country, it's hard to grasp the necessity of backing a public hospital. There is not much money available and the support from the state is just enough to cover basic operations at the hospital. The director of the hospital personally gave us a tour. We observed individuals with severe burns covering most of their bodies, followed by two children approximately 6 to 8 years old. Being a parent to 2 children, this is likely the most touching moment of the journey. Yes, I can handle seeing patients, but as a father, is difficult to witness children who are hurt. We were told that the smaller of the two children was found untreated in a village in the mountains of Nepal and that she had to be transported on a three-day journey to Kathmandu before she could be helped. After several operations and intensive physiotherapy, she was discharged and returned to her family. This was not the end of the hospital's work though - they visited her months later only to find out that her physiotherapy had not been consistently maintained, leading to a further deterioration in the child's condition. She was returned to the hospital and showed significant improvement in the brief period since her return. It was comforting to see that both children seemed happy, even with the significant burns.

AT OUR NEXT STOP on the tour of the hospital, we were taken to see the new physiotherapy centre, which was constructed with the financial support of round Table Nepal. Although the clinic still requires additional equipment, it is evident from their gratitude that the donation made a significant impact and that the centre will make strides in

enhancing patients' treatment in the future.

AFTER OUR VISIT TO THE HOSPITAL, we set out to a school in the vicinity where we observed the classrooms, the newly constructed toilet block donated by round Table last year, and the children's housing. most of the children staying here have parents incarcerated and would have no prospects without this kind of support. Numerous children without the fortune of entering a facility like this and lacking family to care for them, often become homeless, engage in criminal activities, or end up in prison alongside their parents.

THE MAIN REASON FOR OUR VISIT to the centre was to donate 300 books to the children. during our visit, we were delighted to witness several traditional dance performances. As we gifted the books, we saw the happiness and joy in the children's eyes, which reinforced the importance of such projects. We are truly grateful to round Table Nepal for supporting and helping us to make this project a success.

SO MANY EXPERIENCES, so much seen, so much emotion, and all this before the event had even started. And so on to business and friendship...

THE NEXT FEW DAYS as a Board member were filled with strategy meetings, preparations for the Councillor's meeting and HYm, and of course the two meetings themselves. even though it's a lot of work, we always had the opportunity to take part in the evening events. And these evenings cater for everyone - from heading to the dancefloor at the Welcome Party, chatting with new and old friends, swapping pins (which are all a little bit bigger on the Nepalese side of the world), living it up at the masquerade Ball, enjoying lively and traditional music, experiencing Nations Night with its stalls, to the Cultural dinner which is a wonderful end to a great event.

FOR THOSE who have never been to a World or Half Year meeting, I would like to highlight the not-to-be-missed Nations Night once again. each Association brings culinary specialities and drinks from their countries. Since tastes are different, you might encounter a different flavour profile than you're used to. I've been surprised by some countries very often and it goes without saying, more positive than negative. And, as there is the old faithful German favourite, schnapps, available at many of the stands, whatever disagrees with your palate can easily be washed down tastefully. Nations Night summed up? It's like a little culinary trip around the world with hundreds of friends in one evening. What could be better?

IN CLOSING, I must congratulate the Convener of the Half Year meeting and the entire team, you truly outdid themselves. The event was impeccably organised from start to finish, including the flawless airport pick-up and drop-off arrangements.

For those not familiar with CNr as an event, it’s a kind of Nation’s Night on Friday except it’s more about an Area’s night, every district from rT France hosts a stand and brings their best local foods and drinks (Foie gras, oysters, cheese, champagne, wine, truffles etc…). This time around we had 21, so I let you figure out how many specialities you can experiment with in only 1 night… It’s a real Culinary « Tour de France » and the best part - it’s really cheap at only 30€ for an amazing party…

We are very proud to have hosted more than 340 Internationals guests during this event, mostly Belgium and Swiss Brothers, but still, we had people from as far as morocco, Tunisia, Cyprus, malta, Italia, Austria, Germany, Luxembourg, The Netherlands, denmark, Norway, Sweden, and Great Britain, I hope I did not forget to mention anyone…

To those who were in attendance, thank you all so much for joining, and for spreading the word on this fantastic event. I know that, often a small testimony speaks louder than an elaborate article, so I have shared with you a couple of comments from our guests in hopes of making the CNr a must-have global event on your Tabling Bucket List.

during the weekend we also organised our first-timeever Forum for Tablers, on Saturday proposing the 100 Tablers (who survived the unforgettable party), to attend

a conference with a professional speaker, followed by 4 thematic workshops on round Table…The main goal here was to empower our members to become better Tablers, and individually, even a better person…

I let you enjoy our small video summing this weekend: https://youtu.be/iYk6JPkjZ9m?feature=shared

I know that some of you are hearing of CNr for the first time reading this article, despite my best efforts to promote the event during my 3 years as the French Iro (or “IroN man”) but now it’s official, you heard about it, so no more excuses to not attend next year in Périgueux…

We are more than happy to make your CNr experience a fantastic one and look forward to sharing great memories with you all. Personally, I will be living it up with you more as I won't need to attend meetings anymore lol.

See you at CNr!

34ANNIVERSARY ROUND TABLE ESTONIA

In the picturesque winter landscape of Tallinn, the capital of estonia, round Table estonia celebrated its annual Half-Year meeting, seamlessly coinciding with the Association's Birthday Celebration in the evening. This significant event brought together all thirteen clubs within the association, showcasing an unprecedented level of unity and dedication. Characterized by exceptional participation, the day served as a crucial platform for members to exchange updates and best practices, underscored by the strong support from round Table International. The presence of marc Germeshausen, the current International President, added significant distinction, highlighting the International Board's recognition and commitment towards round Table Estonia.

As the day progressed, participants, buoyed by a productive session, gathered for lunch, relishing the warmth of fellowship. With the sunset, anticipation grew for the evening's festivities, setting the stage for round Table estonia’s 34th Birthday Gala at the Port of Tallinn's Cruise Terminal. The venue, offering panoramic sea views, set the perfect backdrop for an evening of celebration and unity. Guests enjoyed reuniting with old friends, capturing moments in photographs, and sharing toasts with their hosts.

The gala was marked by insightful speeches from esteemed hosts and guests, including rT-1 Vice President rain Pärn, rT-1 President Aare reintam, oT-1 President Indrek Umberg, and rTe President Kleni Laus, all expressing gratitude for the successful event organization. The speeches of rTI President marc Germeshausen and LCI President Airi Arrak were highlights, emphasizing international support for the estonian association. Additionally, LCe President Kadri Collanus, round Table Switzerland President Kenneth Staub, and representatives from rT-29 Järvenpää turned the evening into a truly international gathering.

The gala also served as a welcoming ceremony for new members who had joined round Table estonia over the past year and shone a spotlight on members

like Jüri Kulbin, Hannes rosenberg, and oliver matkur, who were honored for their exceptional dedication to the movement. The national board's achievements from the previous season were celebrated, highlighted by winning the rTI magazine of the Year and the esteemed rTI NeA region’s Association of the Year titles, acknowledging round Table estonia’s outstanding contributions.

The night was electric at the round Table estonia gala, charged with anticipation. National Iro Aleksander ottokar spearheaded the raffle drawing for international trips, with the rTe Travel Bingo winners being the first prize announced, igniting excitement early in the evening. The clubs awarded travel fund this year, rT2 Tallinn, rT4 Hiiumaa, rT6 Pärnu, rT10 Pärnu, and rT15 Tallinn, buzzed with enthusiasm about their upcoming international adventures.

In addition to the bingo excitement, rTe unveiled the recipients of the Tabler exchange Program. This initiative will send two members to the National Annual General meetings in Lucerne, Switzerland; mikkeli, Finland; and Spittal an der drau, Austria, in may. This opportunity represents rTe's commitment to fostering global connections and professional development among its members.

The pinnacle of the evening's festivities came with the international "rTI Travel Bingo," where risto Kriik

from rT-11 stood out as the evening's most fortunate participant. His triumph in securing an invitation to the AGm in dhaka, Bangladesh, served as a testament to the extensive international network and opportunities round Table provides to its members around the world.

The evening wasn't solely about celebration; it also served as a wonderful opportunity to promote and raise funds for charities.

Continuing its tradition, rT1 Tallinn, as the hosting club, organized its annual lottery. Tickets were in high demand, selling rapidly as attendees eagerly

participated in support of a worthy cause. A remarkable total of €4850 was raised for the rT-1 charity project, dedicated to supporting children at Väikemõisa Foster Home.

Following the lottery, the nowtraditional art auction commenced, featuring captivating works by esteemed artists such as Leonhard Lapin, evi Tihemets, Karl-Kristjan Nagel, Hardi Volmer, Jaak Visnap, and Tauno Kangro. As an added treat, the Academic men's Chorus delivered a

bonus performance, enriching the ambiance with their melodic voices.

Art enthusiasts were treated to informative and lively presentations by gallerist Jaak Visnap, providing insights into the featured artworks before the bidding commenced. The auction kicked off with enthusiasm, with some pieces sparking intense bidding wars that captivated the entire room.

The proceeds from the art sales contributed a significant €6810 to the round Table estonia Fund, while an additional €2500 was earmarked to support the Ladies Circle estonia charity project "Big Brother, Big Sister." In total, an impressive €14160 was raised for charity throughout the evening.

As the official program wrapped up, the festivities effortlessly transitioned into an energetic after-party, all thanks to the meticulous planning by rain, the organizer for this year's round Table estonia Birthday. Instead of dispersing into the night in search of entertainment, attendees were treated to a vibrant night club experience right at the Cruise Terminal, organized to ensure the celebration could continue without a hitch.

reflecting on the success of this event, it's clear that round Table estonia's reputation for excellence

in organizing rTI events is well-earned. Their ability to create unforgettable experiences for local Tablers is even more commendable. This story of organizational success, from the humble beginnings of round Table estonia to its current status as a formidable presence internationally, is not only inspiring but also a warm invitation to witness the exceptional hospitality and organizational mastery of round Table estonia firsthand.

This magnificent gala would not have been possible without the dedication of rain Pärn, Aare reintam, and the rest of the Tablers in round Table 1 Tallinn. Their commitment and teamwork exemplify the spirit of round Table estonia, ensuring that each event is not just an occasion but a memorable experience for all.

AS A SIDENOTE FROM MARC

‘’Amidst the chilly weather of estonia, the hospitality of round Table estonia shines like a beacon, enveloping you in warmth and camaraderie. As you immerse yourself in the fraternity, exploring the depths of brotherhood, you can't help but marvel at the genuine care and kindness of its members. one unforgettable anecdote epitomizes this spirit: during a lockdown due to Covid, when I found myself confined to a hotel room, round Table estonia came to the rescue with an unexpected gesture of generosity. They delivered a thoughtful parcel filled with Gin &

Tonic and essential vitamins, ensuring not only my physical well-being but also lifting my spirits. Congratulations to round Table eesti on 34 years of fostering friendship, fellowship, and service. The birthday weekend celebration was a testament to the dedication and joy shared by its members. It was an honor and privilege to be a part of such an event, meeting countless wonderful brothers and sisters. Here's to the success of the Half Years meeting and to perpetuating the spirit of camaraderie within our international movement. Palju õnne round

Full Steam Ahead

IT’S GREAT TO SAY A QUICK “HELLO” to Tablers worldwide. I know from attending the rTI World meeting in Kathmandu that you are having fun and putting something back into the community. This has been going on for 97 years and may continue for a long time.

41 CLUB IS ABOUT CONTINUING our friendships after the age of 40. We still do the same things as Tablers and have the same ethos. our objectives are similar in terms of membership, the round Table Family, fellowship, and community service.

SO, 40 IS NOT THE END OF THE LINE. It’s more like an interchange where you get off the round Table train, walk across the platform and get on the 41 Club train. It’s going in the same direction, just with more comfortable seats !!!

So my message to 41 Club members worldwide is to make 41 Club something that Tablers will want to join when the time comes. We are waiting for you, and we are going Full Steam Ahead.

BEING PART OF THIS FANTASTIC 5 CLUB FAMILY and working with the other 4 International Presidents is great. Together, we are awesome.

LThe importance of service and community

ADIES' CIRCLE INTERNATIONAL places great emphasis on service and community involvement, forming one of our main foundations of the association. The importance of service and community within Ladies' Circle International cannot be overstated, as it is through these values that our organisation can make a positive impact on the lives of women and communities worldwide.

SERVICE IS AT THE CORE of Ladies' Circle International's mission, with members dedicating their time and resources to support various charitable causes and initiatives. By actively engaging in service projects, Ladies' Circle International members can make a tangible difference in the lives of those in need, whether through fundraising efforts, volunteer work, or advocacy campaigns.

COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT is also key to Ladies' Circle International's work. Through community events, workshops, and outreach programs, Ladies' Circle International can connect with women and provide them with the resources and support they need to thrive.

ONE ORGANISATION that Ladies' Circle International has partnered with to further its mission of service and community involvement is ISP Kvinna till Kvinna. ISP Kvinna till Kvinna is a Swedish organisation that works to promote women's rights and gender equality around the world. By collaborating with ISP Kvinna till Kvinna, Ladies' Circle International can leverage its expertise and resources to support women in conflict-affected areas and promote sustainable peace and development. Ladies' Circle International has an additional focus on charity in march of each year. This year, the ISP has led a Charity march event in the form of a virtual race – with participants' entry fee

going to the service project and each member covering as many steps or km as they can during the month; this also aligns with President Airi's desire to have a year of movement.

THIS YEAR, we have also highlighted other successful service projects spanning all five Ladies' Circle International Association regions. LC morocco with project Jood espoir and how quickly they reacted to helping the homeless after the earthquake. With their work on "Zuuhre," LC Netherlands is a project favouring Huntington's disease research. LC Lithuania who are supporting the social project "Helping families facing difficulties". This is an excellent example of how a small LC country can make a big difference! LC South Africa, with the "Light a Sparkle", this charity assists organisations and charities in need. It focuses on the pay-it-forward ethos, and LC Bangladesh supports education in the country by ensuring the underprivileged have school stationery. These projects not only demonstrate the reach of our organisation but also reflect the incredible passion and commitment of our members.

IN CONCLUSION, service and community are essential values that drive the work of Ladies' Circle International. By prioritising service and community involvement, Ladies' Circle International can create a supportive and empowering environment for women to unite, make a positive impact, and advocate for a more inclusive and equitable world.

International Service Project (ISP) 2023-25 Laptops4Hope

IN TODAY'S WORLD, the use of technology commences from an early age; computers, smartphones, and the Internet have become integral parts of modern life. People recognise that education is the key to securing betterpaying jobs and achieving personal, social, and professional success, offering every child the opportunity for a better life.

every two years, Agora Club International adopts its own International Service project. In 2023, we embraced Laptops4Hope, which aims to lend a helping hand to the learning process. We provide everyone access to information and modern technology by offering computers, internet connections, and green energy. our project is adaptable to the needs identified during each implementation.

example, an IT lab or multipurpose room in a school where teachers can conduct their courses or access teaching materials, or a family with children in school facing financial difficulties, or perhaps a nursing home where the elderly can communicate with their families, doctors, pay bills, or educate themselves, among other scenarios.

TECHNICAL EQUIPMENT and basic software will be collected and cleaned, and Windows 10 will be reinstalled. Transportation to the destination will be provided most conveniently and by the beneficiary's needs. Any additional equipment required will be sourced locally to support the destination country's economy. If the school lacks electricity, a solar system will be installed. Internet connection can also be arranged through the project.

every Agora Club member can volunteer at every stage, from analysis and initiation to implementation, contributing to making this project successful. The project improves some people's lives and offers volunteers the chance to travel, engage with different cultures, and experience Agora's friendship across countries.

How does it work:

Through its members, our association promotes the project in their communities and encourages individuals and companies to donate laptops and tablets they no longer use but are functional and complete, or refurbished equipment. Additionally, monetary donations will be collected to cover the expenses related to the project's implementation deposited into the ACI bank account.

Agora members identify areas in their communities where our assistance is needed. This could be, for

Age is just a number, and more so in the RT Family!

NOW, WHY WOULD YOU READ THIS AS A YOUNG TABLER? Soon, you will be on this side, and while crossing over, do not lose the bonds of friendship one formed while young!

ATTENDING DIFFERENT RT EVENTS WORLDWIDE, I have often been reminded of this life mantra! It is a question I have repeatedly asked myself, especially when I am around my children's friends, mostly 30-year-olds like most of you. Will I fit in or stick out like a sore (believe me, very sore) thumb? It's an apprehension that I have every time I register for an rTI or LCI event! Will I fit in?

BUT BELIEVE ME WHEN I SAY THIS … when it is an rT Family event, AGe IS JUST A NUmBer! Being amongst young tablers and circlers is fun and brings many a fresh perspective to life!

REFLECTING ON THE GOOD TIMES I have had over the last 32 years and our close bonds, I sense a distance coming up between the generations. The rT Family laughs, plays and does some serious work together! This makes the rT Family unique. Sharing a few tips from experiences on how to fit in while on this UNSToPPABLe journey of friendships with Tablers and Circlers!

1. don't focus on age, especially not on the grey hairs: Instead, focus on common interests, hobbies, and values.

2. Be open-minded and adaptable: Understand that all have different perspectives and experiences compared to yours. Be open to learning from them and embracing new ideas.

3. Stay curious and engaged: Keep up with current trends, pop culture, and technology to actively participate in conversations and activities with your younger friends.

4. respect boundaries and differences: recognize that your younger friends may have different priorities and responsibilities. respect their boundaries!

5. embrace new experiences: Be open to trying new things and exploring activities your younger friends enjoy. This can help you create lasting memories together and deepen your friendship.

6. Communicate openly, sing at the top of your voice and burn the dance floor!

REMEMBER, age is just a number. As long as you genuinely enjoy each other's company, the journey with friends in the rT Family will be unstoppable.

With you all, Always in Continued Friendship
