Your Voice is Important

IT'S TIME TO LOOK BACK at the fantastic Round Table International World Meeting in Cape Town, South Africa. And also time to look back at the previous year. What did we learn? What can we Adopt, Adapt and Improve?

Sadly i was not there in Cape town to experience the result of the massive effort made by the Tablers of Round Table Southern Africa. But my feed on social media has been filled with experiences and impressions made by all you tablers out there.

In this 'World Meeting Issue' of Legacy Magazine you too can relive the world meeting and share the experiences made by our organisation. The RTIWM is not only meeting old friends for the first time and enjoying fantastic locations, food and drink, and having the best time of your life. It is also a cornerstone in the brotherhood that we call Round Table. At the world meeting we set the agenda for the year to come. Voices from a local table can be heard and changes can be made to make Round Table better! Your voice matter!

i have a first-hand insight in how a single question can travel all the way into RTI and make a change. A few years ago when I was a part of the national board of round table Sweden, we recieved a few questions regarding marketing of rti events. The board then decided to write a motion to the upcoming NEAR meeting to be discussed. The motion passed and in a couple of months the motion also passed on the RTIWM. A few voices from local clubs can make an impact on our global organisation. It's important to remember that every voice within Round table is important - and that is in line with why our founder mr marchesi started round table in the first place.

We have now elected a new board to steer our ship for the coming year. I am one of the fortunate ones to be a part of it. I cannot tell you how proud and honored I am to serve you Tablers out there. Round Table has enriched my life and I am so glad to be able to give back some of the energy that this organisation gives me. Just like our newly elected board. Always in your service, and stay classy!

Yours in International Tabling editor@round-table.org

RTI PRESIDENT

Dear Tablers Around the World

ESTEEMED FELLOW BROTHERS, It has been a few weeks since I assumed the esteemed role of Round Table International President. I wish to extend my deepest thanks for your unwavering trust and support. It is with profound humility that I embrace this opportunity to serve alongside each and every one of you. my journey with round table began twelve years ago when i was just 20 years old. I eagerly embraced Round Table's mission and had the privilege of serving on the national board of Round Table Austria. This experience exposed me to the diverse facets of our worldwide movement.

Remember that true leadership goes beyond titles and positions; it is a commitment to a shared vision and a dedication to our collective aspirations. we are not just a group of individuals; we are a cohesive community and a united family bound together by a common purpose.

Unfortunately, our organization is currently facing a challenge in the form of declining membership. Global membership figures are a cause for concern, demanding our immediate attention and collaborative efforts at the local and regional levels. Our esteemed Secretary wisely stated, "If there are no members, there is no Round Table."

each of us here shares a common ambition for round table - to lead a life of significance and leave a lasting impact through our actions. together, we wield this influence.

We can be individual members, clubs, areas, associations, or regions, but together, we are a singular movement. Our actions in the coming year will shape Round Table's future, and we should strive to make future generations proud of our accomplishments.

here are some of our primary goals for the upcoming year:

Sustainable Growth: We've witnessed the importance of expansion in recent years, as seen in the Czech Republic and Albania. We will support and promote the growth of current associations while focusing on strengthening our own.

Supporting Associations: Over half of our worldwide associations have fewer than 50 members. we need to understand why they struggle to grow and provide them with the support they need. we must also address the significant shrinkage in some of our larger associations.

Keep Round Table Cheap: We recognize that Round Table events have become increasingly expensive. It's crucial to make these events accessible to as many tablers as possible, ensuring they remain affordable and provide excellent value.

The RTIWM in South Africa should not be the only event embracing this.

RTI Structure: after the restructuring of round table international in 2016, it's time to evaluate its effectiveness for all associations. we should ask critical questions and be open to adopting, adapting, and improving our structure.

RT Cares – Disaster Relief Fund: We aim to establish a global charity foundation to provide support during disasters. Collaborating with the Round Table Family, we can efficiently respond to emergencies and raise funds for charitable initiatives.

8 RTI LEGACY | From the Board

RT Family App: In addition to developments within Tabler.World, our focus will be on the RT Family App. This app will facilitate communication, information updates, event management, and access to Tabler.World features.

RTI Team Work: achieving these goals requires a robust and dedicated team. The International Board comprises voluntary members worldwide, all passionate about serving our fraternity.

Remember, every monumental achievement commences with a single step. It is the daily choices, the small gestures, and the consistent endeavours that pave the way for great success. each of you is indispensable in our journey, and your contributions hold immense significance. your commitment, passion, and unwavering dedication are the driving forces propelling us forward.

THE THEME OF THE YEAR

This year's theme is "UNITED IN DIVERSITY." It symbolizes how our associations unite as Round Table International to work for community service and prosperity while celebrating the richness of cultures, traditions, and languages worldwide. Round Table is the common thread that unites us all.

I extend my heartfelt gratitude for entrusting me with this role. together, let us script the next chapter of our journey - a chapter defined by inspiration, achievement, and the indomitable spirit that defines us. here's to overcoming challenges, realizing aspirations, and leaving a bright legacy.

RTI PAST PRESIDENT

Our Efforts to Serve Our Beloved Movement

MY PREDECESSORS OFTEN TOLD ME that a year in this role would fly by in the blink of an eye. At the time, I had my doubts about this notion. But I can now assure you that they were absolutely correct. the year passed in a flash, and my team and i were determined to fulfil our promises at the beginning of our term.

as you may recall, my goal was to infuse three key elements into our work: Continuity, Consistency, and Stability. Looking back on the year, I'm pleased to say that we, as a team, achieved these three crucial elements.

We carried forward the fantastic growth initiatives initiated during Graham's Presidency, including "operation head hunter" and video shout-outs to new prospects. Additionally, we introduced a series of talk shows focused on growth, featuring our RTI University Manager, Sachin Shah. These shows sparked lively discussions among our member associations. If you missed them, I strongly encourage you to look at the videos. In the latter part of the year, we launched "Prospects Month," which has already been embraced by associations like RT Belgium, and we hope many more will follow suit.

We continued the work that Graham and his team started to establish RT Care.

I'm delighted to announce that we are now a registered entity in Luxembourg. while some finer details are needed to make rt Care fully functional, i am confident that Marc and his team are tirelessly working on this endeavour. Furthermore, we successfully moved OVF to Luxembourg, simplifying our correspondence and dealings, which adds an essential layer of stability to our operations.

Our outstanding PR team consistently supported my vision as President, promoting all our initiatives and showcasing the exceptional work done at the association and table levels. We also collaborated closely with other members of the rt Family, offering them visibility through our media channels. i'm thrilled to see associations utilizing the resources provided by our PR team to enhance their social media presence. I must extend a special mention to all the associations actively brainstorming ideas with our PR team, as this enhanced our image in the eyes of the public and the broader community.

Promoting mental health awareness was a deeply personal commitment for me. We lose too many young men daily due to mental health issues, and my team and I made it our mission to raise awareness of this critical issue. initiatives like "Checkin Tuesdays" and "Tabler for Tabler" were born from this commitment. I want to emphasize again that it's okay not to be okay. if there's one thing i'd request from all of you, it's to open up and discuss anything bothering you with your fellow brothers. while we do incredible work for our community, it's equally important that we take care of our own. i'm confident that marc and his team will carry forward these initiatives. I urge all associations to support them wholeheartedly.

Finally, I want to express my heartfelt gratitude to all of you who supported my team and me in achieving what we did. Without your collaboration, the RTI Board could not have accomplished as much. My team and I aimed to be accessible at all times and committed to responding to any query within 48 hours, a goal i believe we successfully achieved. Throughout this year, I've had the privilege of meeting

12 RTI LEGACY | From the Board

incredible people and travelling far and wide in the world of tabling. Thank you again for the wonderful memories, and I look forward to seeing you soon in the world of tabling.

Last but certainly not least, I want to thank my team, "WeCanWeWill," for believing in me. I'm proud to say that together, we made a lasting impact.

Yours in International Tabling

Striving for Excellence Together

NOW IT'S TIME FOR US TO RISE TOGETHER! After years of battling against the challenges posed by CoVid-19, floods, earthquakes, and the mental health struggles faced by men, it's imperative that we come together, united in our diversity, to reach for the pinnacle of Tabling excellence.

Building upon the foundation laid in previous years and collaborating closely with Marc this year, I have set some crucial goals that we must achieve to elevate our association to the level it truly deserves:

Growth: We must foster growth at the grassroots level. What does growth entail? it means growing wisely. Consider this: is adding five 37-year-old guys or two vibrant 25-year-olds better? Let's focus on finding prospects who are younger than our youngest Tabler!

Expansion: Our strength lies in unity. Together, we can expand our association exponentially. The key to expansion is our friendships in countries where we can initiate expansion plans. Conversations among friends hold more power than any advertising campaign!

Support: A "healthy" association should extend its helping hand to those in need. Sharing best practices and brainstorming together is the path to success. our approach will first assess every association, identify those facing challenges, and then match them with a robust and supportive association.

Cost-Effectiveness: Less can be more! By organizing cost-effective events, we can achieve growth (as more prospects can afford to travel and explore other countries), facilitate expansion (by making it easier to invite people from countries we are targeting), and enhance our support efforts (lower event costs enable supporting associations to travel more frequently to those in need).

Over the past few world meetings, I've been inspired by countless fantastic ideas and best practices that we must share!

We have two incredible years ahead of us. Now it's your turn to decide whether to experience them as a Tabler or merely as a member. I've already made my choice by standing up for the VP office, and if you've made yours, let's embark on this journey together!

representing the association we all hold dear as Vice-President is an honour. Still, I'm even more honoured to collaborate with each and every Tabler as we reach for excellence!

Yours in International Tabling vicepresident@round-table.org

The Vest that Tells a Thousand Stories

Picture this: a one-of-a-kind vest boasting over 200 pins from artSa and various African countries, each pin telling a story about Round Table’s strong connections. Some of these pieces have been around for over 30 years, collected on the vest of Rikus Badenhorst. Yet it’s more than a vest; it’s a canvas of adventures, legacies, and unspoken bonds – and it waited for a new owner to become a part of its story.

PITCH IN FOR A NOBLE CAUSE

every penny raised from this raffle is heading straight to the nyara youth development project in Southern africa, giving over 1200 kids a shot at a brighter, more connected future.

robyn mafanya, the heartbeat behind this project, is working tirelessly to bring digital inclusivity, education, and a world of opportunities to her hometown. Think entrepreneurship workshops, sport outlets to kick substance abuse to the curb, and so much more. it’s all about crafting a future brimming with opportunities and 21st-century thinking.

WATCH OUT FOR SIMILAR PROJECTS ON: THE ROUND TABLE PIN CHARITY BAZAR

A massive tip of the hat to Wilfried Forster, who specially made this pin vest for the RTI world meeting in South africa 2023 as a part of "the round table Pin Charity Bazar" on Facebook. Check out his page to catch more charity-action for pin collectors: Here. thanks to George marin for setting up the raffle, as well as the team in Cape town: thomas Menneckemeyer, Tobias Eder and Stephan Zipperlen, who teamed up with Wilfried to make this raffle a reality amidst the whirlpool of events at the rti world meeting.

As the RTI Board, we wholeheartedly encourage you to consider applying for the RTI Awards, allowing us to acknowledge your outstanding achievements over the past year. however, please remember that those applying for awards should genuinely believe they deserve a place among the final nominees. we urge you not to apply if you have not given your best.
