How to navigate ‘Covid Secure’ technology for hospitality
We all know that hospitality has been
one of the most affected industries of the covid pandemic, so it’s not surprising that the market is now inundated with multiple solutions to help you meet the government imposed restrictions and guidelines for re-opening. But how do you choose the right one for your business? There are lots of organisations offering innovative technology to support the new operational challenges faced by hospitality with social distancing in place. Of course, the functional fit will be important to meet the many challenges, such as: mobile and table ordering, track and trace, delivery using multiple channels. All of these will ensure your business can thrive post lockdown. But functionality isn’t the only consideration, there are APPS appearing all the time to handle these challenges, so what else should be considered? What are the challenges? - Costs Understandably each supplier needs to fund a development and support team through customer support contracts. Seeking individual solutions to separately handle operational challenges can result in multiple support contracts and significant monthly fees, limiting your ability to operate financially with reduced covers imposed by social distancing.
- Operations What’s the use of having the best technologies unless they integrate well enough to communicate with each other. Systems which are not properly integrated can cause operational problems. Re-keying information often results in errors and wasted time trying to identify problems. - Support Systems developed independently of each other can be a support nightmare. With multiple providers it becomes difficult to know where to go for support. Who has responsibility for the systems working as a whole solution, not only now but in the future? What happens when the operating system is upgraded but not all the solutions are compatible? What happens when one party changes their APP and it no longer communicates with the POS? - Pedigree, longevity You might be somewhat surprised to see such a surge in APPS over a short period of time. This is explainable because the APP is remote, it handles one operational issue so unlikely to be tested with other operational necessity’s such as your POS system. All the above are important considerations. Technical innovations are there to help the business thrive, but the wrong choice could deliver more expensive problems than solutions. Choosing systems that will work together and come from an established
12| Warm Welcome Magazine
technology company, will ensure minimal disruption. What to look out for Clearly a long-established company with extensive hospitality expertise will be better equipped to address the guidelines and provide the support for the whole system. Technology companies such as TISSL, have addressed all the new operational requirements as additional modules to their HORIZON POS system. This not only reduces cost but also ensures a high level of support all in one place, because things have been designed to work together. Keep the infrastructure simple, ensure everything is fully integrated and all works on the same platform. Deploying all functional requirements from one supplier if possible, let the supplier take responsibility for the technology enabling you to keep your staff and customers safe while still providing that culinary experience with seamless service. TISSL HORIZON EPOS has been developed from the ground up, ensuring simpler on-going development without the constraints of most older legacy systems. There is no glue holding it together, it all works together on one platform. TISSL have always developed their platform using the latest technology so were able to react quickly to the covid requirements set out by the government.
TISSL’s Consumer Ordering Platform (COP), is an integrated module which meets all the government guidelines to re-open safely with social distancing. Customers can link easily to your POS, viewing menus and modifiers, then place and pay for their order all using their own smartphones and from anywhere in the restaurant. HORIZON also includes a track and trace system so you can provide the NHS with the required information should there be any problems with a visitor to your premises contracting covid-19. All this comes in one solution and from September this year the TISSL HORIZON solution will also include a fully integrated interface into Oracles’ Opera property management system. For more details visit the TISSL website: www.tissl.co.uk or contact 01908 525800.

The traffic light entry management system
Grange Technologies, the company
behind the Hygiene360 cleaning management system have converted their people counting technology into a cost-effective entry management system to help ensure that social distancing is maintained in enclosed spaces. Particularly effective outside washrooms, the system displays an arrow on a green background when there is room to enter and a cross on a red background when entry is prohibited. The design means it is easy to install with battery powered sensors and the entry display comes with a standard plug. The product is the result of a customer request after they had already used our footfall counting technology in their Hygiene Monitors.
Hygiene Monitor range, Hygiene360Lite is a battery operated, IoT SIM connected device which offers improved configuration management with an online management and data portal and enhanced shift management for more flexible operation. While Hygiene360Lite offers additional functionality, our traditional Hygiene Monitors remain as popular and as important as ever, playing a key role in visible hygiene compliance across a range of industries, and are available as pre-programmed, outright purchase units. “The new traffic light entry management system is the result of a customer request having previously used our monitoring products” says Jonathan Bradford, Managing Director. “We’re pleased that this product will help companies to maintain social distancing measures in order to combat the spread of the coronavirus.” Email hygiene360@grangeeurope.com or call 0845 370 0030 for more information. Grange Europe is a leading supplier of hygiene products, including our very popular antibacterial hand and surface wipes, sprays and foamers and a superb range of dispensers from wall mount to free standing, all of which are all marketed under ‘The Hygiene Company’ banner. Monitoring and compliance devices are a part of the Grange Technologies brand.
The system is ideal for pubs, bars, restaurants and offices and will be particularly useful for washroom entry. Users are able to choose how many people may enter at any one time meaning that the device can be updated as social distancing guidelines change over time. The device costs from just £375 per washroom depending on the layout, excluding any installation charges. Also launched recently is Hygiene360Lite. An enhanced version of our popular

The hospitality sector needs to heed new cleaning techniques
With hotels, restaurants and cafés
all gradually reopening to the public, establishing a thorough cleaning regime now is crucial for the safe return of guests. The HoReCa sector has seen one of the biggest upheavals in its practices since the pandemic began; closing its doors indefinitely, furloughing staff and installing new safety equipment, and now the challenge to ascertain an ongoing cleaning procedure involving specialist supplies to kill all virus’ while also providing a safe environment for both customers and staff. One of the UK’s leading biosciences company is supporting hospitality facilities in their quest to secure safe and effective anti-viral products and incorporate them into their new cleansing schedule. Cardiff-based Genesis Biosciences has developed its own unique anti-microbial, generalpurpose sanitiser that is proven to be effective against Covid-19 and is free from any harmful chemicals.
Genesis’ Sanitiser – part of its Evogen Professional range – delivers high performance cleaning and disinfection of all types of hard surfaces. The product has been designed specifically for use in commercial, residential, institutional and industrial applications to provide a safe, efficient and eco-benign® way of cleaning and sanitising hard surfaces. The utilisation of natural, biodegradable active ingredients offers a safer alternative to many of the harsh chemicals commonly used for sanitisation. There are also the health implications of traditional bleach cleaners. A large study commissioned by Asthma UK has identified a link between professions such as facility cleaners – where the use of products with high concentrations of chemicals is common – and the development of asthma in adults. Dr. Emma Saunders, General Manager for Genesis Biosciences, said: “The entire hospitality sector is under huge
16| Warm Welcome Magazine
pressure to ensure their facilities are protected against COVID-19 while also maintaining day-to-day cleanliness. While it is inevitable that hotels and eating premises need chemicals to perform certain cleaning tasks, not all cleaning jobs call for chemical solutions and there can be wider environmental and health implications for both guests and workers if institutes are unaware of the alternative cleaning solutions available.” With regular and thorough cleaning of shared spaces essential during the current pandemic, the number of cleaning supplies being sold has surged. However, not all sanitising products are effective at killing the coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2) which causes COVID-19. Genesis Biosciences is one of the few companies in the UK to have gone through rigorous anti-viral testing to validate its surface sanitiser’s effectiveness against all enveloped viruses, including COVID-19 and other corona viruses.
Dr. Emma Saunders added: “Receiving the official confirmation means that our customers have 100% peace of mind that the Evogen Professional sanitiser will disinfect hard surfaces, when used according to our directions for use. With public concern about germs and bacteria at an all-time high, reassuring customers and the general public is crucial – even more so for individuals and families who want to get back to a sense of ‘normality’ and eat out at restaurants and enjoy a night away in a hotel.” Genesis has seen a huge increase in demand for its new Evogen Professional natural anti-microbial sanitiser and has supplied more than 60 tonnes of product across the entirety of Europe since the beginning of March. Adapting the product to meet demand, the sanitiser is now available in a 500ml concentrate pack for smaller businesses which comes with an ‘environmentally conscious’ and cost-effective refill kit and can make up to 10 spray bottles of anti-viral solution. To find out more about the Evogen Professional cleaning range, or to purchase direct, visit www.evogenprofessional.com.

Making hospitality cleaning COVID secure An article written by James White, Managing Director at Rawlins.
The past few weeks have seen the
eagerly anticipated return of the hospitality sector, with pubs, restaurants and hotels opening up across the country. For over three months, this vibrant industry has been held back by the coronavirus, with establishments unable to welcome guests through their doors. But with COVID-19 in retreat, it’s time to get the hospitality sector back up and running. However, if it is to bounce back, business owners need to instil confidence amongst nervous guests by showing that their cleaning and hygiene measures are robust enough to stand up to any infection risks. In fact, hospitality, and many other settings, need to adopt a whole new approach to cleaning in the postlockdown world. Including the overreliance on disinfectant. What many people don’t realise is that, like the losing battle of antibiotics against superbugs, disinfectants become increasingly ineffective over time. Although it may kill most bacteria, disinfectant does not remove them, leaving dead microbes, along with any surviving germs, spread across the surface. And these microbes, dead or alive, serve as a food source for the next wave of bugs. Some bacteria also produce biofilms that can effectively defend them from cleaning agents. So, there is a real danger that disinfectant only increases the bacterial resistance, rendering it ineffective after consistent use. So, as the bars and eateries start to fill up over the coming months, it is vital that the clean-up operation is COVID secure. Over the past few months, we have created a simple three-step cleaning process that removes dirt, improves procedures, and protects the environment from bacteria and viruses.
We call this the ‘Remove, Improve, and Protect’ method. Remove Tables, surfaces and floors can quickly become unhygienic, with high customer numbers, spills, and drips creating dirty, sticky surfaces. This is a tell-tale sign that the area hasn’t been cleaned effectively. The only way to eliminate dirt on hard surfaces is by adding water and the correct chemistry, and removing the used solution. This cannot be done with wipes on tables and mops on floors - a new process must be employed that guarantees removal of all soils. Improve All cleaning should be process-driven and continuously improve cleanliness levels each time. The effectiveness of the cleaning process can then be measured by taking adenosine triphosphate (ATP) measurements before and after cleaning, to ensure that surfaces are not just clean, but free of germs. Protect The final step of the process should always be to protect the surfaces with a solution like the Zoono Z-71 Microbe Shield, which is a cost-effective, residual polymer-based antimicrobial protection. The solution provides 30-days active protection for any treated surface, significantly reducing the spread of harmful bacteria and viruses, giving a unique, proven, long-lasting barrier protection. We recommend that main touch points, such as bars, tables, and door handles, are treated every seven days, with the wider area fogged or sprayed every 21 days for the very best hygiene. Routine cleaning can continue between applications, without disrupting the Zoono molecule or its antimicrobial activity. What trends can the drinks industry expect post-Covid-19? Since the onset of coronavirus, it
hasn’t been business as usual for any sector – and the drinks industry is no exception. In fact, as consumers return to society after a long spell of being stuck at home, they’re likely to have a thirst for something quite different than they did just a few months ago. Health concerns have made consumers become far more selective about what they drink, and where they drink it. Meanwhile, without being able to visit bars and restaurants for many months, many have become accustomed to enjoying premium food and drink at home. So as we begin to emerge from a lengthy lockdown, what new customer trends can we in the drinks industry expect? Drinks to your door Many industries like travel, advertising and retail have felt the Covid impact, yet other sectors like e-commerce,
health and food and drink deliveries are all outperforming the market. This has even led the likes of UK pub giant Greene King to deliver food and drinks via a dedicated app. While bars and restaurants are beginning to reopen, social distancing measures have reduced venue capacity and the lingering anxiety of infection means that footfall will take a while to return to the level seen in normal times. Similarly, many will stick to getting supermarket deliveries, which have also become a permanent fixture for those still wary of returning to the shops, or who simply enjoy the convenience of deliveries. Others have taken to receiving regular shipments of food and drink boxes, which have become the only way of trying new speciality products during lockdown. Foodies have been accustomed to meal kits and exotic snack care packages, while drinks lovers have enjoyed a variety of interesting

tipples being delivered right to their doorstep. For example, our own CRAFTED® mango and passionfruit juice drink was included in July’s Craft Gin Club box as a premium mixer for gin-lovers. I’m sure that securing a place in such boxes will have become a key aim for many food and drinks brands looking to increase their sales and exposure in the post-Covid world. A move away from alcohol Long before the spectre of coronavirus, more and more people were drinking less alcohol, or none at all. Before lockdown, one in five of us in the UK were teetotal, with those aged 16-24 least likely to drink. Now the picture is likely to be somewhat different. An Opinium survey for Alcohol Change UK found that one in three – around 14 million people – were taking steps to manage or stop drinking during lockdown. This compares to the 18%
who said they were drinking more. In addition, 6% stopped drinking altogether. With fewer dedicated drinkers, alcohol consumption is likely to go the same way. However, while alcohol drinkers have enjoyed the craft revolution, those seeking flavoursome, alcoholfree alternatives have few premium alternatives to the same old artificial, sugary options.
more healthily because of Covid-19, Beverage Daily reported. This proportion is a sizable jump from the 73% who said the same thing in April.
younger generations, are increasinglyconscious about the state of our planet and the effect we have on it. And they expect brands to play their part too.
Another interesting aspect is that 80% of consumers told FMCG Gurus that they associated vitamin c with a strong immune system.
Beyond the responsible sourcing of ingredients and the sustainability of supply chains, the biggest impact a brand can have on the environment is by making their packaging more sustainable. For example, our CRAFTED® range is packaged in resealable, TetraPak cartons which are made from up to 75% renewable materials.
This is despite a new trend in premium, non-alcoholic products – our research shows that there’s more interest in craft juice drinks than any other craft category – even beer!
At Cracker Drinks®, we have always, and will continue to exclusively use all-natural ingredients and fresh fruits in our range of craft drinks. Drinks brands in general should take particular note that the poll showed 57% said they were looking to cut down on sugar.
Quality over quantity
Tough on the climate emergency
People have long enjoyed some welldeserved afterwork drinks at a bar, a cosy pub lunch, or a nice evening meal at a restaurant. Of course, when lockdown began, the luxury of being waited on with just-served food and drink quickly became a distant memory.
Aside from coronavirus, we all know the world’s most immediate challenge is posed by the climate crisis. Consumers, particularly those from
Some of the UK’s biggest brands, are reportedly considering detailing the carbon footprint of their products. I expect that many other brands will start to do the same, and that eventually, just like food labelling, governments will make this mandatory. Article written by Chris Banks CBE, Executive Chair of Cracker Drinks Co®
However, of those lucky enough to retain a decent income, many will have found that they were saving quite a lot of money from not making their usual visits to bars and restaurants. This has allowed consumers to put their extra cash towards more premium products, like luxury food and craft drinks. As makers of craft beverages, this is a trend that Cracker Drinks Co® have been following closely. Now that many more consumers have developed a taste for higher quality products, they are unlikely to return to more standard offerings, even if they have to reduce the quantity of what they eat and drink. Greater focus on health implications If there’s one thing that coronavirus has taught us, it’s that nothing is more important than the health of ourselves and our loved ones. Unsurprising then that consumer demand for healthier, more natural products is set to accelerate within the drinks industry. An FMCG Gurus poll in May of more than 23,000 people across 18 countries found that 80% of consumers said they were planning on eating and drinking

Groupe GM Launches New DAMANA® Solid Range
As part of its ‘Care About Earth’
program, Groupe GM, the worldleading player in the hotel amenity industry, launched the first solid amenity bath line branded Damana® Earth & Sun. The Damana® Earth & Sun Solid Range is enriched with aromatic plant extracts and celebrates the Mediterranean nature. DAMANA® is a Groupe GM brand, well known for its simplicity and happiness. Inspired by these values, Groupe GM has created a range of amenity lines that combine the richness and authenticity of products influenced by nature and traditions, with today’s expectations of well-being, effectiveness, and ecology. This new solid line strengthens Groupe GM’s commitment to sustainability and closely follows their ‘Care About Earth’ program, which aims to reduce products’ impact on the environment. Inspired by the apothecary tradition, the DAMANA® Solid Range evokes the traditional craftsmanship of herbalists.
The DAMANA® Solid Range is a vegan amenity line, formulated with natural origin ingredients. Thanks to its solid form, water consumption is significantly reduced by nine times that of the amount used with the classic formulas. These dermatological bars are truly “soap-free”, meaning they are ideal for sensitive and atopic skins. They are made with a blend of mild surfactants, such as the Sodium Cocoyl Isethionate obtained from coconut oil, emulsifiers, and emollients. As they contain neither soda nor SLS, their pH is naturally close to that of water, which makes them suitable for sensitive skins. Without any plastic in its packaging features, the solid amenities are packaged in FSC cardboard with waterresistant varnish. There are three 20g solid bars including citrus fruit shower gel, juniper shampoo, and white nettle conditioner, all of which have been tested under dermatological control. FM Legionella check on continuous flow hot water heating units and delivery systems Rinnai Continuous Flow Hot Water Heating Systems & Units
- Legionella check before Restart – or the ideal time to switch to continuous flow how water delivery. All hot water delivery systems in any commercial or institutional site need to be given detailed consideration to the potential of Legionella proliferation during the shutdown. This will necessitate that certain procedures and measures are carried out before the system can be made ‘live’ and function efficiently. ACOP L8 guidelines, produced and published by the Health & Safety executive, lists the details and necessary procedures to ensure system cleanliness. According to ACOP L8, continuous flow direct to outlet systems are seen as low risk for Legionella, due to it allowing for a full turn-over of water volume, no stored water and accurate temperature control.
- With the water heaters still shut down allow fresh cold water into the system and flush all outlets for a minimum of 5 minutes. This will allow all stagnant water to be removed which should take any bacteria with it. Another method can be to flush the system with a suitable biocide chemical. - Once the above has occurred and, if the appliance has followed a regular and appropriate service regime, the water heater can be brought into service and the below steps carried out 1. Set appliance to 65 degree C (if it is not already) 2. Open gas supply. 3. Turn on secondary pump, check water heater is operating correctly by checking gas pressures and allow to recirculate for no less than 1 hour.
Start with an inspection: The first and most important point of a comprehensive and detailed inspection of the appliances is to ensure they can operate to maximum efficiency, especially if there is no record of what procedures were taken when the system was shut down.
4. After one hour if possible, adjust TMS’v to 55 degrees and flush all outlets for a minimum of 5 minutes.
So, to bring a continuous flow hot water heating system back to into active service please note the following procedures and consideration:
6. If the appliance has not had a service within the last 4/5 months, then a full service should be carried out before above steps 1 – 5 are carried out.
34| Warm Welcome Magazine
5. Carry out sample tests for all water outlets for any Legionella presence.
Other modes of hot water delivery systems will have their own sets of procedures. Best advice to site managers and maintenance personnel is to ensure they should obtain specific sets of information and procedures for their particular system. This may be time consuming, but it is important to check for possible Legionella given that the lockdown has been here for several weeks – and it has been an ideal time for bacteria proliferation. Or sites may want to consider that it is the perfect opportunity to switch to a continuous flow system of hot water delivery. This will ensure a limitless supply of hot water is available, provided there is no interruption to gas and water supplies. Continuous flow is acknowledged as more technologically advanced, more efficient, more cost effective with less front-end costs and better Whole of Life economics. - Comprehensive Restart Kits are readily available direct from Rinnai. If there are any questions or queries regarding continuous flow hot water heating systems please contact Rinnai direct by telephone or email. - FM, Installers, site managers, contractors and all end-users simply call 01928 531870, select technical and if the call is not answered immediately leave a voicemail. Response will be within one hour between 0800 – 22:30 / 7 days a week. This means that there be a technical response every day of the week. Meet the hands-free alcoholic drinks vending machine A new touch- free alcoholic drinks
Also in development are additional safety features such as a UV-C light beam that passes over all products to destroy viruses, which will be implemented later in 2020.
VendEase has announced an innovative, age verified, alcoholic drinks vending machine, which is set to help the hospitality industry keep people safe and socially distance as hotels, pubs and cafes open their doors in a new, post lockdown landscape.
‘Technology has changed the face of vending and this new machine is a timely development for the hospitality industry,’ says VendEase co-founder Dave Berman. ‘It is an ideal solution for drinks serving in a post-Covid world where hotels are uncertain as to how to best organise their F&B functions with so many new rules in place. It also means they can attract guests who are hesitant about engaging with bars and restaurants, whilst keeping tight control of their F&B labour spend’
vending machine from VendEase enables the newly opened hospitality industry to offer a bar service that keeps staff and customers safe post lockdown.
The machine from VendEase minimises guest contact points and enables safe distancing by allowing purchases to be made via a mobile phone. The customer scans a QR code, which then produces a visual interface that can be operated from their screen. The drink is then dispensed into a delivery tray that has been treated with a special sterilising coating that also prevents bacteria and viruses taking hold.
The touch-free machine uses a piece of software that allows for age control, meaning drinks cannot be bought by anyone who is underage. Guests are issued with a PIN code or a dedicated fob that unlocks the alcoholic selections in the machine. One of the first organisations to utilise the VendEase alcohol dispensing machine is the Malmaison group, who will shortly be installing it in their Newcastle hotel prior to a planned group wide roll out. Paul Greenhalgh, Procurement Director at Malmaison says: “This offering from VendEase has arrived at the perfect time for us, and will work well alongside our existing F&B offer, allowing us to offer guests a great range of alcoholic drinks, 24/7. As a result, we have been able to review our mini bar offer which has saved us considerable spend. This innovative offer also closely aligns with our Malmaison brand ethos, giving guests an additional and valuable novel F&B experience”
VendEase already supplies UK hotels with vending units that provide everyday essentials, snacks and ready meals and the new touch free alcoholic drinks machine can also be used to dispense these items, allowing outlets to keep profits from alcohol sales. ‘The hotel buys the machine then pays us a small percentage of revenue, which includes installation, training, credit card fees, access to cloud-based sales information and all maintenance and support. All sales generated go directly to the hotel. They can stock it accordingly, setting their own price points,’ says Dave Berman. The 42” HD Screen on the unit can also be used to interact with 3rd party service providers (gym’s, ticket sales, car parking, tourist attractions etc), which provides an additional revenue stream over and above alcohol sales. The dispenser requires a standard power outlet and all data is sent over the mobile phone network meaning it can be used in busy areas such as hotel receptions and lift lobbies. It has just launched in selected central London venues, will soon be seen at Malmaison Newcastle, and will be rolled out nationwide in the coming months.

The wartime Prime Minister continues to inspire the team with the resilience that he’s known for during some of the hardest times.
Inside the bar, bookshelves curated by Daunt Books feature a range of literature reflecting the interests of Churchill and Clementine. Original photographs and love letters donated from his family adorn the walls and contribute to the overall aesthetic and feel of the bar as somewhere the Prime Minister would have enjoyed relaxing in with a drink.
Address: Hyatt Regency London The Churchill, 30 Portman Square, W1H 7BH
Nelson Bernardes, Bar Manager, Churchill Bar and Terrace, says of the reopening: “Churchill’s ethos of hope, resilience and optimism has certainly resonated with the team in the last few months as we’ve worked hard to re-open the bar for our guests. We’re thrilled to be back open with a new terrace and maintaining what the bar is known for - high quality cocktails and excellent customer service.” As Churchill once said, “All the greatest things are simple, and many can be expressed in a single word: freedom; justice; honour; duty; mercy; hope ”

Put your best food forward...
Williams has launched a foot-operated door opener that is compatible with its modular coldrooms. This simple device allows staff to enter the room without having to touch the door with their hands. Williams believes it to be the first of its kind for coldroom applications.
Constructed from stainless steel, operators simply step on the pedal, which operates a lever to open the door to the coldroom. The system incorporates a clip that holds the door latch open, so that the handle doesn’t need to be touched at all. The new unit does not affect the thermal integrity of the coldroom in any way. The foot operated system offers two very significant benefits. First and foremost, by reducing touch points it helps to meet the heightened hygiene standards that are an important part of the response to the covid-19 pandemic.
Secondly, the hands-free access is a very useful ‘quality of life’ upgrade for the kitchen brigade, making it easy for staff to bring product into the coldroom without having to juggle what they’re carrying while opening the door. The foot opener is a simple, robust mechanical device and can be easily added to an existing installation or specified as part of a new project. Williams’ coldroom systems are based on over 40 years of experience. They can be adapted to fit in almost any available space and designed to meet a diverse range of requirements, from frozen and refrigerated food storage to scientific and medical uses and much more. “The new foot-operated opener is going to make life easier for staff, and help them maintain stringent hygiene standards,” says Malcolm Harling, sales and marketing director of Williams.
40| Warm Welcome Magazine
“The fact that it can be retro-fitted to existing Williams coldrooms is an important benefit, too.” The foot-operated door opener costs from £350, depending on the coldroom design. Williams Refrigeration offers a comprehensive range of commercial refrigeration including gastronorm cabinets and counters, specialist bakery equipment, coldrooms, merchandisers and blast chillers. The Ritz-Carlton, Abama unveils new villa club concept for 2020 The Ritz-Carlton, Abama, is delighted
to welcome back guests from July 24th. New for 2020, the timeless island retreat on the south west coast of Tenerife has unveiled a semi-private ‘villa club’ concept, a casual beach restaurant for summer and a wide range of outdoor activities that allow guests to discover even more of the natural beauty the island has to reveal. Set in a magnificent 400-acre estate fronting the ocean, The Ritz-Carlton, Abama offers an oasis of verdant subtropical space that guests can lose themselves in. Ensuring guests have all the space they crave indoors and poolside too, the leading luxury resort has developed its ‘villa club’ concept. When checking-in, contactlessly if preferred, guests will be assigned a sea or garden room or suite in a standalone, two-floor, terracotta hued ‘villa’ building – each with its own pool for exclusive use by the villa’s limited number of residents. Lounging poolside in the yearround Tenerife sun is made all the more enjoyable with complimentary drinks, canapés, smoothies and juices served as part of the villa club package.
There are adult-only villas and dedicated family villas, so guests can escape and relax in a style that suits them best. Comprised of connecting double or triple rooms, families and groups of all sizes can be luxuriously accommodated, and single bedroom suites are also on offer for the solo traveller. The adult-only villas, called Tagor – taken from the native Canary Guanche language, and meaning leader gatherings – additionally benefit from their own private outdoor gym and a dedicated chip & putt area. The familyonly villas, named Palmeras, after the 25,000 palm trees that fill the estate, are conveniently located for the outdoor playground and closest to the largest Ritz Kids club in Europe. Each villa comes with a dedicated team of ambassadors to look after all guest needs. All Villa Club reservations include a la carte breakfast at the spectacular clifftop El Mirador Restaurant, and El Mirador Club Lounge access with complimentary aperitifs daily at sunset. Following our long lockdown, all eyes are now on the winter season – mountain holidays that tick all the boxes for healthy, adventurous, active as well as indulgent holidays - for romantic getaways, family jaunts and multi-generational gettogethers and avoiding the crowds of winter cities.
Severin*s – The Alpine Retreat, is a luxury boutique ski hotel set on the outskirts of the picture-perfect, chic Alpine town of Lech – around one hour’s drive from Zurich and 90 minutes from Innsbruck. With just nine suites, all guests have masses of space: a set of rooms with huge en-suite bathrooms, wrap-around balconies, comfy sitting rooms with open fires and state-of-the-art sound systems. The Chef ’s Table can be exclusively booked by Severin*s guests. - Fondue by Skidoo Severin*s guests are invited to book a skidoo to deliver them to a mountain hut where they can enjoy the best Austrian fondue on offer.
