WINTER

2023

SECOND AVENUE RESTORATION

Message FROM P resident THE Well, it is that time of year again: a blank slate, a fresh start, an opportunity to change something for the better. So, have you been asked? Do you have any? I am talking about resolutions. You know, eat less chocolate, run more than Ty Kelley, etc... Did you know there is such a thing as Quitter’s Day? It is on the second Friday in January, as it is the most likely day for over 80% of people to give up on their New Year’s resolutions. For this reason, we are going to call it something different: New Year’s Strategy. This is because people who develop a plan are 10x more likely to achieve their goal than those who don’t. So whether or not you have determined your personal New Year’s goals, it is important for you to know your Company invests a tremendous amount of time and energy into developing a Company Strategy. Part I of the Strategy is focused on ensuring the continued health and safety of each employee. This is achieved through the intentionality of creating safe work environments and proper training. Part II of the Strategy is focused on ensuring the continued success of each employee. This is achieved through the creation of increased opportunity and professional development.

Part III of the Strategy is focused on ensuring company growth. This is a broader topic because ‘growth’ is defined by many things such as: Culture, Revenue, Number of Employees, Oce Locations, Number of Projects etc. But at the core of any Company’s growth is the people. This is why we say Companies don’t build projects, people do. Companies don’t develop relationships, people do. What is the key ingredient that differentiates Reeves Young from other companies, You. YOU are the Strategy for growing this Company. As we look into 2024, we are blessed to have a tremendous amount of contracted backlog, a very healthy pipeline of new project opportunities, and the most talented team of construction professionals. Success is our only option.

- Chad McLeod

HEAVY CIVIL

Message from the BUL | William Reeves To say 2023 was a record-breaking year is an understatement. Heavy civil set the following records in 2023: Record number of projects: 40 Record amount of project sales: $151 Million Larest Single Project Contract: Atlanta Beltline’s Southside Trail Segments 4 & 5 ($33,557,184) Record amount of annual revenue: $130 Million

Of the achievements that were accomplished in 2023, I am most proud that the Heavy Civil group performed such a large amount of work so safely. We had our safest year in a long time. The Safety Department was instrumental in helping us achieve this. Their implementation of Project Dig Boards and project PTPs (Pre-Task Planning) immediately improved our safety culture. We had the following promotions this year: • Greg Rosinski Senior Preconstruction Manager

• Bryce McDonald Senior Project Manager

• Mo Amircani Senior Project Manager

• Brennan Small Assistant Project Manager

• Chris Sechrist Assistant Project Manager

• Zach Towner Assistant Project Manager

• Jeremy Warrington Senior Preconstruction Manager

Numerous promotions occurred with our Field Staff as well.

I know this kind of growth impacts ALL of the departments. There are more invoices and pay apps to approve, more proposals to submit, more groundbreakings to attend, more subcontracts and purchase orders to write, more employees to hire and more PANs to process. From the entire Heavy Civil group THANK YOU to everyone who helped us achieve a record setting 2023. We aren’t satisfied. 2024 is set up to meet or exceed a lot of 2023’s records. Our focus for 2024 will be on continuous improvement and execution.

INDUSTRIAL

Message from the BUL | Stephen McMillan Wow, I can’t believe that we’ve arrived at the end of 2023 and what a year it has been. From my seat, this year was an extreme growth year for Reeves Young in which their people stepped up to the challenge. From the implementation of a new safety culture, to breaking the 600-employee threshold, to breaking into yet another market (Kentucky), to the new Revenue record, this has been an amazing year for the Reeves Young team.

With respect to specifically the Industrial team, it has been amazing to watch the growth of such a young group. Just three years ago, we executed our first Industrial contract and this year we will have put in place $265M worth of work. For a little comparison, when I started at Reeves Young six and a half years ago, our total company Revenue was about $230M. I remember meeting with many potential clients in 2022 and telling them about our growth pattern with them remarking that we’d have extreme challenges or even multiple failures in 2023. I told them then what I know for sure now, we had a team that was ready for the challenge. While we had challenges in 2023, our safety, quality and profitability were first class on ALL projects. Those naysayers were wrong because they didn’t understand the heart and dedication of our team. Many of those same potential clients that doubted us in 2022, have now reached out because they’ve heard of our success and regret not working with a first-class team sooner. So, this is the time of the year to truly celebrate these achievements as I can say that Reeves Young well exceeded my expectations for 2023. Enjoy the holidays with your families and be proud of your career achievements… but this is just the beginning. In 2024 we must keep up the momentum and not become complacent. We can’t settle now as we’ve worked so hard to get into this position. There’s going to be major obstacles once again in 2024 but let’s continue to support each other and grow together because I believe with the people at Reeves Young, we’ll once again exceed our expectations in 2024!

WATER RESOURCES

Message from the BUL | Matt McCormack As I look back on 2023, I look back on our many successes. I also look back on some lessons learned. Our safety culture has certainly improved in the business unit – the results of your efforts are evident in the numbers. We have had less people get hurt and less days spent away from work this year, however, our intentionality in being safe needs to be an even bigger priority. It is imperative that we continue to move the needle so that in 2024, NOBODY GETS HURT.

We have also made great progress on many of our projects. One of the most rewarding things in construction is looking at what you have built, so be sure to look back on where your project was in January of 2023, and where it is now. Water Resources has grown from 141 people to 189 people in 2023. As pleased as I am with the additional opportunities that are being provided, I am even more pleased with the quality of the people that are coming on board. This trend of quality will certainly need to continue into 2024 to tackle the many new projects that we are starting. We have loaded our wagons with some great projects in 2023 that will begin construction in 2024. These include the projects underlined on the active projects list below. In 2024, we will focus on improved execution on the projects that we have won. Specifically, this means committing to a schedule because we know that the projects that finish on time do well every time. Moving forward, we will not allow for complacency regarding schedule. If a project falls behind schedule, we want to immediately determine what we are going to do to recover – different logic, additional resources, improved production…whatever it takes to ensure that the schedule is maintained. Jeff Moss, Dan Hembree, and I are here to help you with this, so engage us early while problems are still manageable. I encourage each of you to figure out what you can do to improve your own career development at Reeves Young in 2024. It might be getting involved in a trade organization. Maybe it is being intentional about taking on new tasks on the project you are on. It could be assisting with a bid or a marketing proposal, or becoming more of a participant in the many events that Reeves Young holds every year to maintain our company culture. Thank you for all your hard work in 2023, and join me in making 2024 an even better year!
