"Good evening everyone and welcome back to the Premier Plus Stadium for today‘s United Counties League Premier Division South every. Tonight we extend a warm welcome to the players, officials and supporters of Cogenhoe United and we hope you enjoy our hospitality this evening“.
Another tough looking game this evening against Cogenhoe United, hot on the heals of Saturday‘s draw here at the Premier Plus Stadium against a decent and much improved Yaxley side. Lots of differing opinions when talking to supporters after the game and reading people‘s comments on social media about Saturday‘s performance and game in general and that‘s the great thing about football, everyone‘s individual points of view are valid.
Saturday‘s attendance of 351 was absolutely superb and testament to what everyone here at the Club is working hard to achieve, both on and off the pitch. Hopefully we can attract the same numbers when we entertain Great Wakering Rovers in the FA Vase here on Saturday 21st October so spread the word and lets get the place rocking in two weeks tim
I’d like to take this opportunity to let every manager of our Under 18 team and that Ni Club to take up the role so join us in welcom the very best of luck going forward.

"I’d like to welcome everyone associated to Cogenhoe United to The Premier Plus Stadium. They have shown this season that they are as good as any side in this league, narrowly losing to March Town last game and also beating Racing Club Warwick. Results like that will give them belief that a good run can propel them into the play offs.“.
We faced high flying Yaxley on Saturday and I was hugely impressed by their attacking intent and I can see why they win matches and score goals. That was only the second time this season they have failed to score in a league game, which shows how well we defended to keep a clean sheet. We have the second best defensive record in the league, which is credit to the team as a whole, we defend from the front and set our stall out to be hard to beat.
We are now a third of the way through the season and it’s been relentless in terms of league and cup games. I am sure everyone at the Club, on and off the pitch, would have taken our current league position at the start of the season. We all know the hard work is now ahead and I’ve challenged the group and myself over the next third of the season to
The crowd of 351 was outstanding on Satur hugely exciting for everyone. The noise and positive and I love going round before and fans.
The last time we played a midweek game a minutes to date against Desborough Town crowd and the energy was something else.

ST NEOTS TOWN 5 COGENHOE 2
Another win, another three points and a massive crowd of 343 but it was not a vintage St Neots performance. A very game Cogenhoe side without an away league win since mid-September gave St Neots a very useful testing ahead of their important FA Vase tie next weekend and the home performance will have given Manager Dennis Greene some food for thought. Defensively there were weaknesses as Cogenhoe became the first side to register two league goals against their hosts this season and both will be regarded as the product of sloppy defending. In attack there was still a plethora of chances but much of the shooting was rushed at best and careless at worst although five goals in a match must always be regarded as an acceptable return. There was yet another new signing in the shape of Jack Bradshaw who has had Football Conference experience with Maidenhead United and he slotted in well at full back given that it was his first game with his new colleagues.
The start was fairly even with Elliott Sandy having an early shot pushed away for a corner by Tim Trebes whilst at the other end new boy Bradshaw and Tolley were both wide with St Neots first efforts. St Neots then went ahead after twelve minutes courtesy of a outstanding piece of refereeing. Stefan Moore was left on the ground in his own half under an illegal heavy tackle by Tom McGowan but with St Neots in possession play was waved on and Dan Jacob and Shane Tolley exchanged passes through the stretched visiting defence with Jacob supply the final important touch. Three minutes later Moore was again involved with a fierce snap-shot cleared off the line by a defender but only as far as Dan Jacob and he claimed his sixteenth goal of the season with a crisp finish. Cogenhoe created another good chance on the break but Scott Goodenough’s shot was too high whilst both Lewis Webb shot wide and Junior Kanuda saw a shot deflected for a corner with the Cogenhoe keeper out of position. However, the keeper did well to dive bravely at Jacob’s feet after clever play by Moore but seven minutes before half time Dan Thomason conceded a quite unnecessary penalty bringing down Moore from behind as he was dribbling away from goal and Lewis Webb made no mistake from the penalty spot to complete St Neots’ 3-0 half time advantage.
BLAST FROM THE PAST
Saturday 6th November 2010
The second half saw St Neots again profligate with their openings as Moore chipped one effort on to the roof of the net and shot wide with a second. Cogenhoe then gave the home side a rude awakening after 52 minutes as Kanuda was dispossessed in midfield and as two defenders tried to rectify the position the ball ricocheted to substitute Sam Hevey who slotted the ball past the exposed Tim Trebes. That seemed to unsettle the home side but with the lively Kieran Davies on for Kanuda the chances still came with Lewis Webb, Stefan Moore and Dan Jacob all shooting wide of target. However, for all their shortcomings in front of goal St Neots stuck to their task and with ten minutes left a poor clearance by Ashley Fleming went straight to Stefan Moore and his finish this time was accurate. Even at 4-1 St Neots could not relax because three minutes from time the defence failed to cut out a cross by Karl Bates and another visiting substitute Lewis Leckie got his name on the score sheet. However, St Neots were to have the last word as their two substitutes combined well with Davies skinning his marker to produce the perfect cross for the unmarked Roy Essendoh to head home in the final minute.
St Neots: Trebes, Hyem (M), Bradshaw, Webb, Fuff, Fordham, Hilliard, Kanuda, Moore, Tolley, Jacob.
Subs: Davies (for Kanuda 65 mins), Essendoh (for Tolley 79 mins), Scully, Gent and Jones.
Man of the match: Dan Jacob

COGENHOE UNITED
Year founded: 1967 Chairman: Derek Wright Club Website: www.pitchero.com/cogenhoeutdfootballclub
GOOD EVENING AND A WELCOME TO THE PREMIER PLUS STADIUM AS WE RENEW OUR FRIENDSHIP WITH COGENHOE
We are pleased to renew our on-field friendship with Cogenhoe United after an absence of twelve seasons. We last played Cogenhoe on 3 April 2010 here in the UCL Premier Division where we ran out winners by five goals to two with our goals scored by Dan Jacob (2), Stefan Moore, Roy Essendoh, and Lewis Webb, with Sam Hevey and Lewis Leckie the visitors’ marksmen. Cogenhoe have remained in the top UCL division ever since our departure – one of the stalwart members of the league and in 2004/05 they won the League Championship. Last season they finished twelfth in the league table scoring 53 goals in their 38 league matches. In the league cup last season, they defeated Rainworth Miners Welfare, West Bridgford and Boston Town before losing to Deeping Rangers in a quarter-final penalty shootout. This season they made an early exit losing 4 - 0 in the Preliminary Round away at Clifton All Whites. In National Cup competition Cogenhoe have had a much better season. In the FA Cup they travelled to Westfields in Herefordshire and won a home replay after a 2-2 draw. The replay also finished 2-2 but the visitors won 5-4 in the penalty shoot-out.However, they still retain an interest in the FA Vase after a first qualifying round 1-0 away victory at Bedfont in West London, and a convincing 5-1 second qualifying round home victory over Step-Six side Winslow United. They now face Nottinghamshire based Eastwood Town in the first round of that competition on 21st October and we wish them well.
Previous meetings of our teams:
We played Cogenhoe in each of the sixteen seasons between 1995/96 and 2010/11 during our spell in the UCL after our return to senior level. In addition, we faced them three times in the league KO Cup between 1999 and 2005, St Neots winning two home games and Cogenhoe winning the other – also a home tie. The league record (below) could not be better balanced. Each side has won 14 of the 32 league matches and even the goalscoring tally is equal – 56 goals each scored!
In the league our record was:
Played 32 Won 14 Drawn 4 Lost 14 Goals for 56 Goals against 56
Enjoy the match.

NEOTS TOWN U18 14 WISBECH TOWN U18 0
Playing against a depleted opposing team that turned up late for the match with just nine players, St Neots U18 side helped themselves to fourteen goals –seven in each half and it could have been many more but for some missed chances and a heroic performance by under-pressure visiting skipper/goalkeeper Josh Feeney. It was the third league meeting of the two sides and the result took St Neots’ tally to forty-nine goals scored with just one against. With almost half an hour gone St Neots led just 1-0 but then the floodgates opened with four goals in the final five minutes of the first half. The second half followed a similar pattern with just one further goal in the opening twenty minutes of the half but as St Neots utilised their substitutes the pressure told, and further goals followed. The best attacking efforts the visitors offered were two first half corners with home keeper Alex Bent not having a serious save to make throughout.
The Saints' goal scorers were:
Harleigh Camfield (3), Nigel Coleman (2), Caleb Wright (2), Rocco Smith (2), and one each from Adam Baker, Levi Baker, Luca Ugarte-Edwards, Will Jolley, and Frankie Webster.

YAXLEY FC (H) 07-09-2023
ST NEOTS TOWN 0 YAXLEY 0
In 51 previous league and cup meetings there had only been two nil-nil draws between St Neots and Yaxley and the huge crowd of 352 must have been hoping for a goal fest. However, the two sides looked very evenly matched, both goalkeepers performed well, and the supporters had to content themselves with the fact that neither side lost. The visitors just shaded the first 45 minutes, but St Neots came back to be the better side after the break. So, both sides stay in the top four in the league table and will meet again in the return match at the end of next month. St Neots welcomed back goalkeeper James Goff and included Nathan George and Tom Reynolds, for Malaki Black suspended and Rev Kalek on the bench.
St Neots created the first real chance after seven minutes when Kyle Lincoln stole up from the back to be set up by Jordan Brown, but his finish was too high. At the other end five minutes later Matthew Harris-Hercules was left unmarked in front of goal, but he dragged his effort wide. The game then settled with the visitors having the better of the first half possession but failing to seriously threaten the St Neots goal. Harris-Hercules saw another effort blocked after good work by Lil Francisco and just before the break following a free kick, Harvey Henderson shot wide. The final action of the first half saw a good effort by Rio Henderson well saved by home keeper James Goff.
It was a better contest after half time with St Neots pepping up their attack with the lively Israel Ajana on wide for Tom Rowley. St Neots took the early initiative with Jordan Brown seeing a net-bound effort deflected for a corner and Magloire
Muyembe skimming the crossbar from distance. Ajana set up Jordan Brown, but his effort was too high and then visiting keeper Conor Barton saved at the near post from Sam Johnson. A second St Neots substitution saw the return of Harvey Williams after a four matches injury break, but he had only been on three minutes when he was scythed down earning a booking for Loui Catt. Muyembe had a shot blocked and Nathan George headed over the bar from a corner as St Neots failed to make their superior possession count, but with substitutes on the visitors made a late effort to find a winning goal. Matthew Harris-Hercules won a corner in the air, but James Goff saved well tipping his effort over the bar and Jordan Brown could have won it for St Neot six minutes from time, but Barton saved well and Goff then earned his man-of-the-match award with an important save three minutes from time to deny Harris-Hercules.It was a fair result to an evenly contested match that neither side deserved to lose.

COGENHOE UNITED FC
The early days of Cogenhoe were not documented and are now obscured by the mist of time. Inter village friendlies gradually led to membership of the now extinct Central Village League. As typical with village football, a variety of pitches were ‘home’ until in 1950 the first game, against Northampton Yeomanry, was played on the then new playing field. New purpose built facilities were developed together with a new spectator stand which gained us promotion into the UCFL, for the season 1985/86. The first competitive match at Compton Park was our final match in the Central Combination, when The Cooks defeated Bugbrooke St.Michaels, 1-0 with Jason Moore scoring the historic first goal. Compton Park was officially opened when Ron Atkinson, then manager of Manchester United brought a team to play in the inaugural game.
The Cooks entered the F.A. Vase for the first time in 1988/89 and at the end of the season, Brian Foley stepped down as Chairman after 21 years loyal service. This achievement was recognised and Brian was elected Vice President of the United Counties Football League.
Cogenhoe United Under-18’s side was elected to the Northamptonshire Senior Youth League in 1991/92 and won the Championship at the first attempt. This was followed with the excellent news that further land was obtained for youth pitches to be developed.
The first team entered the F.A. Cup for the first time in 1994/95. In the subsequent three seasons Steve and Dino guided the team to further success culminating in the most successful season campaign in The Cooks history. Runners-Up in the UCFL Premier Division, Winners of the UCFL Knock Out Cup and Buckingham Charity Cup plus Runners-Up in the Daventry Charity Cup. In the Northants Senior Youth League, the club’s Under-18’s were not to be outdone by winning the League Knockout Cup and finishing Runners-Up in the League.
Another former Northampton Town midfielder was appointed as First Team Manager. Adam Sandy took the hotseat and linked up with former Cooks legend Dino Cirelli to become his assistant. They finished the 2003/04 season in sixth place and Runners-Up in the Daventry Charity Cup. Dino Cirelli retired at the end of the season.

COGENHOE UNITED FC
In the following season, 2004/05, Dave Jones stepped up from Reserve Team Coach to assist Adam and the season became a very successful affair. The last game of the UCFL season finished with The Cooks playing Potton (1st vs 2nd) in a winner takes all game. Cogenhoe only required a draw to clinch our first UCFL title and the game ended 2-2 making sure the trophy came to Compton Park.
During the 2005/06 season, Cogenhoe acheived their best ever run in the FA Cup. The Cook’s eventually lost in extra time, in a replay, to Chasetown 4-3. In 2006/07, The Cooks equaled their best run in the FA Vase by going out to Causeway United, after extra time, in the fourth round. At the end of the season, the club announced the appointment of Darren Collins as 1st Team Manager as Adam Sandy resigned. Chapman started the 2017/18 season with former Cooks Neil Champlovier (assistant) and Jamie Wright (player-coach) to help him out but things didn’t totally go to plan. Wright was injured very early on and wasn’t seen again, while injuries and too many players making themselves unavailable for games meant the side was changed every week and piled the pressure on the Cooks gaffer. After a home defeat to Harborough Town in October 2017, Tom resigned out of the blue with the Cooks fourth from bottom, but still in the F.A Vase. Jake Stone stepped up from the reserves as caretaker-manager as was eventually persuaded to take the role on full-time with the Vase run continuing and an eight-game winning run helping us to finish as the UCL’s highest Northamptonshire club in 8th spot. The F.A Vase ended at home to Wolverhampton Community Sporting 2-3 in the 3rd Round proper, but those wins at Histon and Great Wakering Rovers will go down as some of the best results in the club’s history as they equalled their best ever run.
2020/21 started later than usual as football was allowed to return as we saw a dip in Covid cases, but it was on everybody’s minds that this may be another season that failed to reach its natural conclusion. A Tuesday night start saw us make the long trip to play Kirkley & Pakefield in the F.A Cup and two extremely late goals gave us a 2-1 win in Lowestoft. League form was improved on the previous year with Nat Ansu on fire in front of goal and the F.A Vase had seen us progress through three rounds before we headed into another national lockdown in early November. On 12th of December we were allowed back into action, but only in the F.A competitions and on a wet afternoon in Norfolk we crashed out 0-5 to a better prepared Mulbarton Wanderers team and following a sad period after Christmas that saw 10,000s of people lose their life to this deadly desease, the F.A brought all football at level to an early finish once again at the end of February.
