Greenie’s Greetings With Director Mike Green "Good afternoon everyone and welcome back to the Premier Plus Stadium for today‘s United Counties League Premier Division South match. Today we extend a warm welcome to the players, officials and supporters of GNG Oadby Town Football Club and we hope you enjoy our hospitality this afternoon“. Wow, It seems like an absolute eternity since we were last playing on home soil, the FA Vase game versus Great Wakering Rovers to be exact, just shy of a month ago. Of course, our adventure along the road to Wembley ended that afternoon with spot kick heartache. Incidentally, there will be a new name on that trophy this season with holders Ascot United also winning promotion to Step 4 so unable to defend the trophy and last season’s runners up, Newport Pagnell Town, losing to our FA Cup victors Fakenham Town this weekend. Sadly, decent performances don’t always guarantee positive results and that seems to be the nature of the beast at the moment so I know Cam and the boys will be pushing hard to get back to winning ways today. Since my last ramblings, we have added a couple of new names to the squad, with Jamal Batchilly and Rhys Thorpe joining us from Potton United and Eynesbury Rovers respectively, so please join us in welcoming the two new recruits to the Saints. Last Monday I had the pleasure of taking in the Thurlow Nunn Youth League game between our own Under 18's and their Deeping Rangers counterparts and what a game it was too. Deeping, unbeaten all season, lost that tag as we recorded a very well earned 1-0 win courtesy of Will Jolly’s spot kick. If you get the opportunity to see our lads in action, please do so, they are very, very talented. Ok, back to today. Our visitors have been steadily improving in recent weeks so another tough game is in store today. Get behind the boys from the off as the atmosphere you help create really does make a difference.

Boardroom Gossip From The Dugout With Chairman BarryCameron Cavilla With Manager Mawer " I’d like to welcome everyone associated to G.N.G Oadby Town to The Premier Plus stadium. I have to say I have been very impressed by the squad the G.N.G Oadby Town management team have put together sitting 8th in this division is no easy feat and beating March Town in their last away game symbolises what a great job the guys there are doing“. The reverse fixture in which we won 5-2 looks by the score line a comfortable victory but we had to ride big storms, and going forward they are one of the most impressive teams in the division, they are in the top 4 for goal scoring and have some exciting players in their front line. For us we continue to build on a great start to the season, our last two games have been narrow defeats and if I am honest could have gone either way, particularly the Wellingborough game. A side who were unbeaten in their last 15 games before we went there was always going to be tough, but I thought we were outstanding and on another day could have had 3/4 goals to our name, but it wasn’t to be but we gained great confidence from the performance against a top side. That doesn’t take away the fact football is about winning games and putting points on the board and we need to do that if we are going to be promotion contenders come the business end of the season. I have felt we have been on the receiving end of some, let’s say in different decisions by officials lately, which has had huge impact on the result of that game but as a group, we have to do our work on the field and hope the old saying is right, that they even themselves out over the course of the season. We have a really important period of the season coming up now and we are just taking it one game at a time, and not getting too high when we win and not getting too low when we lose, if we can continue putting in performances like we have done then we know we will win more games than we lose. We have recently announced our full time football and education academy starting in September 2024 for current year 11s and year 12s. It’s a chance to train full time with us and study full time with us. Myself and the academy staff will be taking the program using our first class facilities, giving youngsters the chance to progress through hopefully into the first team and beyond. I have been lucky enough to have some success stories in my 12 years working within this environment the latest being Iliman Ndiaye signing for Marseille for 20 million pounds from Sheffield United after starting in a non-league academy. It’s felt like forever since we last played at home and we can’t wait to be back playing in front of you.

Boardroom Gossip Boardroom Gossip With Chairman Barry Cavilla With Chairman Barry Cavilla “ Good Afternoon and welcome all for todays home fixture at the premier plus stadium. I’d like to take this opportunity to welcome all the Players , officials and supporters of Oadby our vistors for todays United counties premier league south fixture”. We had a very competitive game at Oadby early this season and just a few minutes before half time saw the saints push ahead with 2 sharp finishes to give us a welcome half time lead. This gave the inspiration to get on the front foot early in the second half and securing our best away win 5-2 for many seasons. The last few weeks have seen theSsaints just falling short in securing some valuable away points against the leagues top sides , Racing Club Warwick and Wellingborough Town respectively. I am certain Cameron and the lads feel a much need victory would help us bounce back and on track to stay in touch with the front runners. I know with your continued support for Cam and the lads today it will give the Team a massive push they need to help secure some valuable points to keep in the mix with the leading pack. Enjoy your time with us today and look forward to catching up with some of you during the game.
Best wishes
Your Town, your Team.

How did you get involved with club? After moving to the area from Oxfordshire I went to a local game which was St Neots Town fc , as I liked statistics I asked the then manager John Gregory for a team sheet, he thrust a piece of pink paper in my hand and said “ you look intelligent, sort that out” and that is how I started. Other positions held at club? Too many to mention, but just about all of them Favourite highlight? Reaching first round of FA Cup in 1966 and playing Walsall away Favourite ground visited with St Neots? Always enjoy Wellingborough Longest away match with St Neots? Truro City, Southern league play off final Sin Bins YES or NO? Yes because there is far less chastising of officials Future hopes for club? Financial stability whatever level we achieve

HEMEL HEMPSTEAD
1
‘Can’t we play you every week’ sang the jubilant St Neots Supporters as they celebrated their side’s first win in five league and cup games at the expense of high flying Hemel Hempstead. Gary King and his new management team could hardly have faced a more challenging start to their reign for Hemel had knocked in nineteen goals in their last two matches and had been beaten just once in twelve league outings this season conceding only seven goals prior to this match. An almost imperceptible shuffle with just two team changes and no new signings King obviously felt able to work with the squad he had inherited but there was just one significant change in St Neots’ tactical approach for they started with and persisted throughout with a 4-4-2 formation. Hemel are not a bad side with just this one defeat but they were unable to respond significantly to a St Neots side determined to put behind them a string of disappointing results and show what they are really capable of. Their response to losing their first half single goal advantage was to wrestle back the lead just 35 seconds after conceding and that spoke volumes for the tenacious spirit of a group of players who knew they had underperformed in recent outings. There was little to suggest a convincing result to the match in the first 45 minutes. Both sides took some time to settle and find any real rhythm or continuity and Hemel made the first two real openings but former Saint Ben Mackey headed a Daniel Talbot cross into the chest of Niall Conroy and the keeper then got down well to push a Dave Pearce shot for a corner. St Neots were guilty of squandering their best openings with poor final passes after bright approach play but they were sharing possession and Jay Davies saw his shot fumbled by visiting goalkeeper Laurie Walker. Then after 33 minutes an inspired long diagonal cross field pass by Jay Davies found Ed Adjei who took one touch before firing a low shot past the surprised Walker. It was no less than St Neots deserved and two minutes later Matt Nolan at the far post could have added a second from an Alasan Ann cross but off balance he skied the ball wide. St Neots now looked more confident as Lewis Hilliard shot over from a narrow angle and skipper Gavin Hoyte saw his header from a Davies corner deflected for another corner. However Hemel finished the half well with Moussa DIarra seeing his effort deflected and the unmarked Ben Mackey sending a header the wrong side of a post in added time.
BLAST FROM THE PAST Saturday 11th November 2013
Having suffered a knock Mackey was to play no further part replaced by another former Saint Ollie Thorne. Hemel made a really positive start after half time and after 52 minutes another substitute Charlie Mpi took full advantage of Niall Conroy being slow off his line to lob the keeper to level the scores. Parity lasted just 35 seconds for play moved straight to the other end where Lewis Hilliard restored St Neots’ lead despite Walker getting a hand to his angled close range shot. Six minutes later St Neots took control with their third goal as a deep cross from the right by Hilliard found the excellent Jake Woolley at the far post and he netted from a narrow angle. Six minutes later Walker denied Woolley with a reaction save to a close range effort and now Hemel were being restricted to breakaway efforts. The speedy Mpi shot into the side netting and Connelly clipped the top of the crossbar with a surprise effort from 35 yards but the visitors did try to raise their efforts as time ticked away and they were caught short in defence two minutes from time when Jay Davies won the ball inside his own half and sprinted clear to keep his cool and fire past the advancing Walker to complete a much needed but very well deserved victory. Still in the relegation zone St Neots must now retain this confidence boost and put together some consistent results starting midweek with the visit of near neighbours Biggleswade Town. Year founded: 1939 Chairman: Myles Graham Club Website: www.pichero.co/clubs/oadbytown GOOD AFTERNOON AND WELCOME TO THE PREMIER PLUS STADIUM TO OUR VISITORS GNG OADBY FOR OUR SECOND RETURN FIXTURE OF THE SEASON We visited Oadby just over a month ago on 14th October returning with all three points after a 5-2 victory, thanks to a double from Jordan Brown, and goals from James Hatch and Harvey Williams plus an own goal. That was the first ever meeting of our two clubs so today Oadby visit St Neots for the first time. They have recently had to locate because of a ground dispute and now play in Leicester at the Riverside Football Ground. At the time these notes were penned they stood eighth in the league table having been beaten at home in all three of their major cup competitions. However, since our victory at Oadby our visitors have really hit good form winning all four of their league matches – at home to Leicester Nirvana and Desborough and away at March Town and Easington Sports. In the FA Cup they were beaten 3-1 by Bottesford Town and in the FA Vase they lost 4-1 to Sherwood Colliery. Their best cup performance came in the Sports Ground Development KO Cup where they recovered from a 2-0 half time deficit to draw 2-2 only to lose in the resultant penalty shoot-out to Coventry United. Last season they finished thirteenth in the final table.

Seasons Past - With John Walker This Edition Focuses on Season 2020/21
This continues my statistical recollection of historical records, highlighting our recent spell in the Southern League depicting both the highs and the lows in the recent proud history of the Club. Sadly, it was another unique season for it was the second consecutive time that a season was aborted without finishing, again due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This time it was even worse than before because we only completed eight league matches before a compulsory halt was called. It had been our best start to a season for many years with just one league defeat in eight completed fixtures, but it was all to no avail. We had however completed six fixtures in cup competition (two FA Cup and four FA Trophy) – the last of which was in mid-December six weeks after the league had declared a halt to fixtures! League

Our 6-1 Third Round Qualifying home victory in the FA Trophy over Worksop Town was our biggest ever in the competition, and our defeat in Round Two away at Hereford marked the end of our best ever run in that competition. Our only league defeat in the sadly aborted season came at home against Welwyn Garden City after we had led 2-0 on the hour mark! The aborted season only saw action in only two cup competitions – the FA Cup and FA Trophy, with none of the other competitions started. We again ran no Reserve side. Youth Team Match Report Deeping Rangers (H) 06-11-2023 Thurlow Nunn Youth League West Division ST NEOTS TOWN TOW

DEEPING RANGERS U18
0
Unbeaten this season, Deeping Rangers U18 came to grief at St Neots as the home team produced one of their best performances of the season. The scoreline should have been more convincing for the home side squandered some excellent chances but they were defensively superb against a visiting side that were averaging five and a half goals per game prior to their visit to the Premier Plus Stadium. As a result, the gap art the top of the table was reduced to just one point although the Lincolnshire side still have a game in hand. St Neots dominated the first half with a display of confident attacking football and the visitors never managed a single shot on goal. However, chances for the home side came and went with visiting keeper Danny Foulger kept busy saving from Harleigh Camfield and Will Jolly in the first quarter of an hour. Other chances went begging with the visitors just happy to hold on. A free kick from Christopher Khoo was just too high before Camfield was again denied at the near post after he had gone clear. The two St Neots front men were rampant but just before the break Will Jolly contrived to shoot wide from ten yards with only the keeper to beat. St Neots then atoned for their profligacy less than a minute after the restart when from a corner Referee Simon Ward spotted a push on a St Neots player and from the penalty spot Will Jolly slotted home to put the home side in front. This setback seemed to spur the visitors and from a free kick by Isaac Bassendine the home keeper was forced into his first serious action of the match. The same visiting player then made space for himself but fired high over the bar but by now the visitors were back in the game. Up for a corner, Joel Jolly fired narrowly wide and then home keeper Alex Bent needed two attempts to save a stinging shot from Liam Burrows. Khoo outpaced the defence but shot into the side netting but the visitors then mounted a spirited last five minutes looking for an equaliser but substitutes Keane Miller and Callum Pratt both squandered late chances as the home side hung on for all three points.

John Walker's Match Report Gt Wakering Rovers (H) 21-10-2023
FA VASE FIRST ROUND PROPER ST NEOTS TOWN 2 GREAT WAKERING ROVERS (Great Wakering won 4-2 on penalties)
2
For once, St Neots expertise from the penalty spot let them down as defenders Kyle Lincoln and Nathan George saw their penalty kicks saved by visiting keeper Luis Shamshoun in the sudden death shoot-out. St Neots could not earned their draw later in the match, after scoring their second equalising goal six minutes into added time at the end of a disappointing FA Vase tie. So now if they are to get any sort of Cup success this season, they will have to win their way to glory in the Huntingdonshire Senior Cup later in the season. Their Essex visitors, like St Neots, had been relegated from Step Four at the end of last season and their only other victory away from home this season had come in the FA Vase at Basildon. St Neots did not play well and can have little complaint in defeat, and on the day, they saw March Town recover from a two goals half time deficit at home to Histon, come back to earn a point in a 2-2 draw to earn a point to go top of the league table pushing St Neots off the top with both now having completed fourteen league matches. The one enforced team change saw Skipper Kyle Lincoln return to a reshaped side with cup-tied Jordan Brown making way. The first twenty minutes of the match saw the reorganised home side struggling to compete but fortunately the visitors failed to take advantage of superior possession and their only noteworthy effort in this opening phase was a shot by Harry Talbot high over the bar after he had been played clear of the defence. St Neots then woke up and after visiting keeper Luis Shamshoun had spilled a cross following a corner, Dean Dummett saw an effort that had beaten the keeper headed off the line by Harrison Topliss. Two minutes later St Neots took the lead when a long clearance from Nathan George picked out James Hatch wide on the right and his clever ball control saw him bypass a defender to set up Magloire Muyembe for his second goal of the season. The visitors hit back with Ben Search firing just wide and Callum Boylan just failing to reach a Harry Talbot cross in front of a gaping goal.
John Walker's Match Report Gt Wakering Rovers (H) 21-10-2023
Then just before the break two goals in three minutes by the visitors put then firmly in control. The first came after a clumsy challenge by Tommy Reynolds upended Talbot and from the penalty spot Callum Boylan sent James Goff the wrong way to net. Then before St Neots had time to recover Talbot rounded the unfortunate Reynolds to set up Boylan for a simple finish to make in 2-1 for the visiting side. In added time the lively Israel Ajana went past two defenders only to see his shot deflected for a corner. St Neots needed a strong response after the interval but for a while the visiting side had the upper hand.Talbot broke through but could only fire over the bar and then home keeper James Goff had to produce the save of the match to turn over a dipping shot from Billy Johnson. In another Wakering attack an Hafeez Eleguishi header found the back of the net, but the goal was disallowed for some off the ball pushing. St Neots tried to respond with Ajana and Harvey Williams lively on the flanks, but they lacked penetration through a well-organised visiting defence. Search then brought a full length save from Goff and as the second half progressed St Neots enjoyed the better possession with the visitors seeming happy just to protect their slender lead. With just two minutes of normal time remaining Ajana slipped his marker to bring a good save from Shamshoun and after two lengthy injury stoppages the referee indicated eight minutes to be added. St Neots spent most of that time in the visitors’ half and with six minutes of the added time gone St Neots were awarded a penalty when Ajana was brought down. Joshua Brown netted from the spot to send the game into a penalty shoot out but all to no avail. St Neots: Goff, Reynolds, Nickels, Josh Brown, George, Lincoln, Ajana, Dummett, Hatch, Muyembe, Williams Subs: Smith (for Muyembe 549 mins), Black (for Williams 90+1 min), Kalek, Rowley, and Romero. ST NEOTS TOWN

The host side took their unbeaten league run to seven matches as they leapfrogged St Neots into third place in the league table. However, their victory came after a controversial incident a minute before half time when Harvey Williams was clumsily upended by a defender as he wove his way through the penalty area. Strong appeals for a penalty were ignored and play was waved on, and St Neots verbal protests led to a ten minutes’ sin-bin stay for striker Jordan Brown either side of the break during which the home side scored to retrieve their early one goal deficit. Disappointed St Neots Manager Cameron Mawer said “that error by the officials had a significant effect on the outcome of the match”. St Neots had travelled for the first ever league meeting of the two sides and began well but conceded a second goal seven minutes from time to return home pointless and drop to fourth in the league table. Jordan Brown returned to lead the attack after his ineligibility for the National competition with Dean Dummett on the bench and the only other team change saw fit-again Sam Johnson return, at the expense of Israel Ajana. St Neots began confidently, and James Hatch saw an eighth minute shot blocked after he had gone past his marker. The home side saw an effort by James Hancocks sail wide of the far post, but it was the visitors who looked the more comfortable and they took the lead after fourteen minutes when Hatch won a tackle in midfield and set up Jordan Brown for the opening goal with a crisp finish across the keeper into the corner of the net. An acrobatic bicycle kick by Loui Monoghan was only just too high as the home side began to settle and Josh Parsons should have done better than drag his shot wide after a neat build-up. The home side were dominating possession but making little headway against a resolute visiting defence with skipper Kyle Lincoln their rock. James Goff did well to smother at the feet of Cameron Ebbutts after he had been played clear by Ryan Quinn, and the same player shot across the face of goal. Jordan Brown cleverly set up Magloire Muyembe and his well- placed shot was clawed for a corner by home keeper Brad Callow and from the resultant corner Nathan George misdirected a header just wide. The Williams incident followed, and St Neots went to half time with their narrow lead intact.

Resuming with ten men, St Neots found themselves under attack and after 52 minutes the home side capitalised on their numerical advantage after Goff had saved bravely at the feet of Parsons, but from the resultant corner Loui Monoghan was left unmarked and he headed home an equalising goal. As St Neots returned to full strength, a George header from a Johnson free kick was blocked by a defender and then St Neots introduced their two recent signings giving a boost to their attack. From a Johnson corner Muyembe fired narrowly over the bar after 78 minutes and then Callow made two important saves from Hatch and Josh Brown as St Neots ramped up their attacking pressure. With nine minutes remaining St Neots introduced a fourth substitute but two minutes later the home side mounted a swift attack and from a searching cross by the overlapping Callum Carsley, Josh Parsons produced a well-placed header that was to prove the winning goal for the hosts. St Neots tried to find a late rally and Ajana set up substitute Nathan Frater, but his angled shot flew just wide of the far post with three minutes remaining. That proved to be St Neots final chance as the hosts played out the remaining period concentrating on defence in numbers.

ST NEOTS TOWN

An unfortunate own goal and a last minute second goal proved to be a very narrow margin of defeat as St Neots lost to league leaders Wellingborough Town. There was precious little to choose between the two sides in an end-to-end contest and St Neots can consider themselves unlucky not to have returned home with at least a share of the points. However, Wellingborough are not leading the way at present by accident – they are a well organised side that give little away in defence and look speedy and threatening in attack. Former Saint Neo Richard-Noel gave the visiting defence a torrid time and his side defended well against anything that St Neots contrived to throw at them. Saints Manager Cameron Mawer had the luxury of just one team change preferring Dean Dummett in midfield for Josh Brown who was on the bench. There was also a debut appearance from the bench for Rhys Thorpe just moved across town from Eynesbury Rovers. Just two minutes in former Saint Neo Richard-Noel shot across the face of goal but the sides looked evenly matched from the start. However, after eleven minutes on the next notable home attack a speculative shot from Tom Iaciofano was deflected past his own goalkeeper by St Neots skipper Kyle Lincoln as he attempted to clear. St Neots refused to be deflected by this setback and Jordan Brown saw a shot blocked after neat play by Magloire Muyembe. The home side were looking particularly threatening down the right flank and after one run Iaciofano saw his shot comfortable saved by James Goff. Richard- Noel, off balance, shot over the bar and then Jorrin John joined the home attack to fire wide. In the ten minutes before the break St Neots dominated with Harvey Williams the main threat to the home defence. He had a shot blocked before firing narrowly over the bar and then brought an excellent save from home keeper Adam North. He was then upended in the area, but St Neots penalty appeals were waved away. The same player also brought a full length save from North just prior to the half time whistle. St Neots continued their offensive after the break with Williams shooting across the face of goal and Jordan Brown was brought down but the official waved play on. In a counter-attack Richard-Noel fired wide from a corner and St Neots then tried to boost their attack by the introduction of speedy wide man Israel Ajana and striker Rhys Thorpe. A third substitute Jamal Batchilly saw his first shot blocked on the goal line and Williams had an effort pass the wrong side of a post. St Neots efforts were not sharp enough to pierce the home defence and pushing forward in search of an equaliser twice left St Neots short in defence.
John Walker's Match Report Wellingborough Town (A) 11-11-2023
On the first occasion Goff did well to save from Richard-Noel but right-on full-time Lincoln was dispossessed in midfield, and this allowed Tom Iaciofano to bear down on goal to fire home the clinching goal. It was less than the St Neots performance had deserved.

Opponent Spotlight GNG OADBY TOWN FC
The exact year of formation is unsure but it is believed to be either 1937 or 1939 under the guise of Oadby Imperial. The club did not have to wait long for their first honours winning the "City Medals" competition in the 1939–40 season. Around 1943 the club merged with a local junior side to become Oadby United, two years later in 1949 they reverted to original name of Oadby Imperial which coincided being accepted into the Leicestershire Senior League Division 2 for the 1949–50 season. The first season saw the club finish in 11th place out of 16. In 1951 Oadby Imperial changed their name to become Oadby Town FC. In the same year they won the Leicestershire Senior League Division Two Championship and were promoted to Division One (later Division One became the Premier League and Division Two became Division One). The 1956–57 season saw the club finish as runners-up in the Leicestershire Senior League to Leicester City 'A' and also were runners-up to Whitwick Colliery in the Coalville Charity Cup. It was until 1963 that the club won its first major honours winning the Leicestershire Senior Cup for the first time beating Newfoundpool WMC in the final. The following season saw three pieces of silverware collected. As well as retaining their Leicestershire Senior Cup crown, Oadby also were Leicestershire Senior League champions for the first time and won the Coalville Charity Cup for a second time. It was to be a further four years (1967–68) for Oadby to regain the Senior League crown and for good measure they retained their Senior League title the following year and also added the Leicestershire Challenge and Rolleston Charity Cups. A fourth Senior League crown was achieved in the 1972–73 season. This was to be the last league title for over twenty years as it was not until the 1994–95 season that they regained the title. Titles six, seven and eight came in three consecutive years between 1997 and 1999, the latter resulting in promotion to the Midland Football Alliance. Oadby Town have won the Leicestershire Senior League eight times and been runners-up seven times. In the 1999–2000 season they joined the Midland Football Alliance, and in their first season in this league they were crowned champions. In the 2002–03 season Oadby Town were FA Vase semi-finalists, losing out to Brigg Town 3–1 on aggregate.
Opponent Spotlight GNG OADBY TOWN FC
The 2004–05 season saw the club win their first Leicestershire Challenge Cup crown for over 30 years and 3rd in total, beating fellow Midland Alliance side Barwell 2–1 at the Walkers Stadium in Leicester. The 2006–07 season saw Oadby enter the Rolleston Charity Cup for the first time in nine years and winning the competition for a ninth time beating Barwell 2–1 in the final at Holmes Park. The following season saw Oadby retain the Rolleston Charity Cup beating favourites Hinckley United 4–1 in the final. On top of that they won the Leicestershire Challenge Cup for the fourth time beating Friar Lane & Epworth 3–0 at the Walkers Stadium. In 2010–11 Oadby Town finished 22nd in the Midland Football Alliance and were relegated to the East Midlands Counties League. Lee Harriman, former Coalville Town chief, was appointed manager for the 2011–12 season. Oadby managed a successful season with a decent run in the FA Vase, being the only team from below Step 5 to reach the 5th Round, losing to Staveley Miners Welfare. Oadby Town moved across to the United Counties League Division One (Step 6) for the 2012–13 season[1] In August 2020, the club was renamed GNG Oadby Town to recognise the contribution of former GNG players and Oadby residents in saving the club from financial difficulties in 2018.[2]
