Good afternoon everyone and welcome to the Premier Plus Coming Soon Stadium for today’s BuildBase FA Trophy Third Round Qualifying tie. Today we

welcome the players, officials and supporters of Worksop Town FC and we hope you all have a safe and enjoyable afternoon with us here today. A great week for the Club with the point away at AFC Dunstable last Saturday and of course the demolition of Biggleswade FC here on Tuesday evening in front of a magnificent midweek crowd of 350. Also, Mehmet had a plethora of potential sponsors/advertisers present for the game and honestly, they couldn’t have gone away unimpressed with what they saw both on and off the pitch. These are exciting times to be a Super Saints fan with some awesome football on show, breath-taking at times. We have been told by our suppliers that the new Replica shirts should be available to buy in the second week of November so I will keep everyone up to speed with this as we approach Christmas. As it looks like we will be having to wear face coverings for the foreseeable future, we are also looking into getting some Club Snoods made which will be available to purchase too so please keep an eye on the website and our various social media platforms. Right then, back to today. Sadly, COVID has affected this game due to Nottinghamshire going into Tier 3 lockdown so we as a Board of Directors took the decision to segregate home and away support. Not ideal I know, as this takes away the spirit of non-league football and the chance to change ends at half time however, in this instance, I’m sure that you will all agree that the safety of both sets of supporters and officials is paramount and the right call was made. Here’s to a cracking cup tie and may the best team win.

Be Loud, Be Proud, Be A Saint

All are real

Welcome to everyone from Worksop to the Premier Plus Stadium. Today will be a really big test for us against an experienced and physical side. But we go into the game in a fairly good place. A draw away at Dunstable and a home win against Biggleswade has moved us up the table into quite a healthy position, although we want more! I will always focus on the merit of the result and not the result itself and so far this season I’ve been pleased with the majority of our performances. If anything, we could be significantly higher than we are. We still have big room for improvement but all the signs are positive in this moment. We really want to create an excitement about the football club around the town and have a team that all the supporters can be proud of. I hope that we can generate more interest in the club. Because of Covid restrictions we are capped to a capacity of 400. I’d really like to hit this capacity all the time. If you don’t normally come, take in a game. If you’re a regular, please bring friends. I can’t promise we’ll win but I promise you’ll see an exciting style of football, an incredibly hard-working team and lots of talent on display. And you can buy beer in the bar! Thank you for your support

Best Wishes

Special Covid – 19 Matchday policy

Due to the ever changing national situation regarding Government Covid regional lockdown policies St Neots Town FC believe that the only way we can ensure the safety of both sets of supporters, staff and officials is to expand our Covid-19 procedures for this Saturday’s fixture against Worksop Town FC They are as follows: All Home supporters will gain entry via the top turnstiles (the ones by the astro changing block) where they will follow the same Covid matchday procedures as previous. All Worksop Town FC supporters will gain entry via the normal turnstiles (Nearest to the Players Entrance) where they will follow the same Covid matchday procedures. There will be supporter segregation in place during the match. Home supporters will be able to populate the main stand and the Saints Foods Terrace behind the goal closest to the Gregory suite. This will be extended to just short of the away dugout on the far side of the pitch. Away supporters will have access to the Terrace behind the goal closest to the main turnstile entry which will be extended to just short of the home dugout on the far side of the pitch. Amenities for both sets of supporters will be Outside Bar/Food and Toilets Whilst it is impossible to remain masked while drinking or eating we do ask that you keep your mask on while doing neither of these things. There can be no supporter movement other than in the allocated areas, sadly meaning no changing of ends at half time. Any supporter that is seen to breach these precautions will be asked to leave the ground. It’s dreadful that we have to put such measures in place for a game of football however we are determined to ensure, to the best of our ability, the safety of all those that are in attendance. Saints Academy We are very proud of our boys and girls development pathway. that runs from U8’s through to U16’s .

The Academy

Most boys and girls that go through the clubs Academy seamlessly move onto our Post 16 sports Scholarship programme We pride ourselves on developing players in a safe structured environment, working to a coaching syllabus which has given us the capability to help both talented boys and girls reach their full potential. The current St Neots Town FC Academy was established in 2012 under the guidance of the Clubs Director of Football and Academy manager Iain Parr. Our Ethos Iain Parr-Director of Football/Academy Manager "At SNTFC Academy, we have a minimum of 2 coaches in each age group and a lead coach to oversee u8’s-u11, u12-14’s & u15-18’s. My Job as Academy Manager is to create a stable, structured, safe environment for young players to develop and fore-fill their potential. The player’s individual development comes before winning football matches unlike lots of other grassroots clubs, but if we get the squad balance right, players and parents buy into the philosophy, the team will be competitive and players will progress. All coaching staff follow an annual coaching syllabus and players have IDP (individual development plan) to complete to aid development” All teams train twice a week and play Saturday fixtures, currently out u8’s-12’s play in the Cambs leagues and the u13-16’s play JPL (Junior Premier League), our Elite boys U18’s play in the Floodlit Eastern Counties and the Elite Girls U18’s play on the stadium pitch Saturday mornings in the S-tec Girls League

WORKSOP TOWN Founded 1861

Chairman: Pete Whitehead Club Website: www.worksoptown fc.com

A SPECIAL WELCOME TO THE PLAYERS,OFFICIALS AND SUPPORTERS OF WORKSOP TOWN WHO WE FACE ON THE PITCH FOR THE FIRST TIME EVER The FA competitions are always a welcome break from the routine league programme because they throw up the opportunities to make new friends in the football world and this is match that proves the point. Worksop are reputed to be the fourth oldest football club in the world - founded some 18 years before St Neots Town, in 1861. So, our joint histories amount to no less than 300 years of football and today we meet for the first time. Worksop is the largest town in the Bassetlaw district of the ceremonial county of Nottinghamshire in the East Midlands of England. Worksop lies on the River Ryton and is located at the northern edge of Sherwood Forest. Worksop is 19 miles east-south-east of Sheffield, with a population of 41,820. It lies close to Nottinghamshire’s borders with South Yorkshire, and Derbyshire. Worksop are members of the Northern Premier League South East Division at Step Four of the National League system and are enjoying a very good start in this pandemic affected season. Prior to last weekend they had played six league matches, winning three, drawing two (including last week’s 0-0 draw at Stamford) and losing just once. They have a fine record in the FA Trophy having twice reached the quarter-final, in 2000/01 and again five seasons later. They also reached the Third round proper of the FA Cup in 1955/56. The pinnacle of their league record was their Step Three Northern Premier League (Premier Division) runners up achievement in 1998/99. Biggleswade FC

1

St Neots produced their best performance of the season – topping even their 8-0 drubbing of Didcot Town at the Premier Plus Stadium earlier in the season – to send Biggleswade home after their first ever defeat at the hands of the Saints. It could have been even a much heavier defeat for the Waders but for the inspired individual performance of their man-of-the-match goalkeeper Tyler Josephs. Time and again he repelled the best efforts of a St Neots team rampant at times in front of their best home crowd (350) for a very long time. He produced six excellent first half saves, and a further three after the break and must feel justifiably aggrieved that he was beaten four times as well as being saved by the woodwork. St Neots produced some real impressive flowing football and never really looked in trouble despite conceding a consolation goal to their visitors who never gave up trying as the tally against them mounted. Manager Barry Corr, still perhaps searching for the best combination of his players, opted to leave himself on the bench bringing back Tom Dickens in defence and just before the final whistle, there was a cameo substitute appearance for Cambridge United’s former England U21 player, now 39 years old, Luke Chadwick, father of the team goalkeeper. The three points lifted St Neots, now the top scorers in the Division, to eighth in the league table – their highest position since their relegation to Step Four. From the start St Neots dominated play and created openings. Down the right flank Liam Bennett cut past his marker time and time again to sent over inviting crosses for the front players to attack. Twice Leon Lobjoit was off target after he had picked him out and from midfield Ben Worman was also a constant threat to the visiting defence. He combined with Lobjoit to bring a significant save from Josephs and when after 15 minutes the keeper produced another outstanding save at the expense of a corner, he was punished when from Lee Watkins cross, Tom Dickens claimed his first league goal of the campaign from close range, to give St Neots a deserved lead. On the break the visitors looked lively and there first effort on goal by Kian Coles after 18 minutes saw Louis Chadwick in action for the first time as he pushed the ball for a corner. Two saves in as many minutes by Josephs then denied Lobjoit and Arel Amu from adding to the score line but St Nots were not to be denied for much longer because after 34 minutes a flash of individual brilliance saw Ben Worman beat three defenders at speed before placing the ball beyond the despairing dive of Josephs to make it 2-0. Before half time there was still enough time for Lewis Simper to twice be denied by the keeper as he kept out a direct free kick and a delicate lob.

Continued Frustration for St Neots leading scorer Lobjoit intensified soon after the break when the inspired goalkeeper produced a good low save to deny the striker, but he was fortunate when a second effort from the same player beat him but rebounded from the bar. However, Josephs’ one error cost his side after 56 minutes when he dropped a Bennett cross to gift Ben Worman his second goal of the match. Despite being 3-0 down Biggleswade defiantly kept trying to breach the home defence and after 61 minutes they were rewarded when a Drakulic free kick was not cleared and Tom Coles stabbed home from close range, However, this was to prove nothing other than a consolation goal because eight minutes later from another Bennett cross to the far post, Jake Battersby rapped in a low shot that beat the keeper at his near post to reinstate St Neots three goals’ advantage. Lobjoit chipped wide with the keeper narrowing his angle and was then booked as his personal frustration showed through. With three St Neots substitutes introduced in the last fifteen minutes the tempo of the match reduced and although one of the trio of newcomers, Ryan Robbins, tested the under siege goalkeeper, the visitors had the final word as two of their substitutes, Alan Fleming and Ryan Inskip brought saves from Louis Chadwick. It was good preparation St Neots prior to hosting Northern Premier League visitors Worksop Town in the FA Trophy Third Round Qualifying. St Neots: Louis Chadwick, Bennett, Battersby, Goode, Wilson-Braithwaite, Dickens, Watkins, Simper, Amu, Lobjoit, Worman Subs: Gomersall (for Lobjoit 59 mins), Luke Chadwick (for Watkins 84 mins), Robbins (for Amu 84 mins), Smith and Corr. Cards: Lobjoit (Y – 74 mins), Simper (Y – 81 mins) Goals: Worman 2 (34 & 56 mins), Dickens (15 mins), Battersby (69 mins) Biggleswade: Josephs, Hunt, Simpson, Oswick, Gauge, George, Coles (T), Coles (K), Oyeniran, Drakulic, Bailey Subs: Inskip (for Hunt 44 mins), Fleming (for Oyeniran 46 mins), Kettle (for Bailey 57 mins), Ulug, and Northfield. Worksop Town FC First club

The club claims it was originally founded in 1861, which would make it the fourth oldest association football club in the world, however there is no contemporary evidence to support this claim. The earliest record of football being played by a town club comes from 1873, when a group of 15 Worksopians took on 15 from the Pestalozzian school in the town. The first recorded use of the Worksop Town name came in 1882, when a team using that name played Eckington on 18 February The club joined the Sheffield & District Football League in 1892 and also played in the Sheffield Association League during the late 1890s after an unsuccessful oneyear stint in the Midland League. Worksop re-joined the Midland League in 1900 and would become prominent members of the competition before the First World War. They finished as high as 3rd in the league in 1903, and in 1908 they reached the 1st Round of the FA Cup for the first time, losing 1–9 at Stamford Bridge to Chelsea in front of 18,995 spectators. After the First World War put a halt to football activity in the town, the game returned in 1919 when Worksop Town and Manton Athletic merged to become Worksop and Manton Athletic, although the Worksop Town name remained in popular usage. The club joined the Midland League and in 1921 won the competition for the first time. The 1920s provided the club with their best spell in the FA Cup, reaching the 1st Round in four out of six seasons from 1921. In 1923 they drew Tottenham Hotspur at White Hart Lane – the Tigers pulled off a shock by holding Spurs to goal-less draw. The Worksop board decided against hosting the replay at Central Avenue, and they were beaten 0–9 in the replay two days after the original tie, again at White Hart Lane. In 1926 they reached the 2nd Round for the first time after beating Coventry City at Central Avenue in the 1st Round – eventually losing by the odd goal in three to Chesterfield in the next round. In 1930 the club withdrew from the Midland League and disbanded, with a new club being formed a week later.

Current club The new club initially had to play in the Sheffield Association League and Central Combination before joining the Yorkshire League in 1935. After the end of World War II the club again folded, and a new club called Worksop Town Athletic was formed, initially competing in the Sheffield Association League, but later joining the Midland League. In 1956 they progressed to the 3rd Round of the FA Cup for the only time in their history, beating Skegness Town and Bradford City before losing out to Swindon Town at the County Ground. Worksop picked up their second Midland League title in 1966 before becoming founder members of the Northern Premier League (NPL) two years later. They would return to the Midland League after just one year however, as the Tigers finished bottom of the pile in the NPL's inaugural season. They won their third and last Midland League title in 1973, and a year later re-joined the NPL, eventually finding their feet at this higher level. In 1978 they once more reached the 1st Round of the FA Cup, losing 1–5 to Barnsley at Oakwell. In 1989 they were relegated to Division 1 of the NPL, and had to move to play in Gainsborough when they were evicted from their Central Avenue home. They would spend three years in Gainsborough before returning to the newly built Sandy Lane ground in Worksop in 1992. The Tigers regained NPL Premier Division status in 1998, by which time Chris Waddle was pulling on a Worksop shirt, and in 1999 they finished as runners-up in the NPL, only just missing out on promotion to the Football Conference. In 2004 they were founder members of the Conference North, but they only lasted three years in the division before being relegated back to the Northern Premier League, and it was around this time that the club fell into financial difficulties and lost ownership of their home ground at Sandy Lane, being forced to rent the grounds of Hucknall Town, Ilkeston Town and Retford United for three years. In 2011 the club finally returned to Sandy Lane, but this time as tenants of Worksop Parramore, who had bought the ground and allowed the Tigers to play there. The 2013–14 season almost saw Worksop clinch promotion back to the Conference North but they were beaten in the league play-off semi-finals. At the end of the season owner Jason Clark revealed he would no longer be funding the club, plunging Worksop into a financial crisis, and shortly afterwards the decision was taken to resign from the Northern Premier League and join the Northern Counties East League (NCEL), entering the NCEL's Premier Division.
