WELCOME We stopped the rot of four consecutive defeats and this was vitally important. Good afternoon everyone and welcome to The Premier Plus Stadium, home of the Saints and the Mick George Academy, for today’s Evostik South Premier Division match. Today we extend a very warm welcome to the players, officials and supporters of our near neighbours, St Ives Town, and we hope your brief stay with us here today is a pleasant one. First of all, I’d just like to wish everybody a very Happy Easter and hope you all enjoy your family time but remember, don’t overdo it on the chocolate eggs. Here we go then, the home leg of our local derby matches with the other Saints from the county. I’m sure today will be an exciting encounter, full of courage and endeavour and like cup matches, form can go out of the window with the team who wants it more coming out on top. Our last home game saw us surrender a narrow lead against an in-form Bishop’s Stortford side and settle for a draw, a little disappointing but at the same time, we stopped the rot of four consecutive defeats and this was vitally important. Young Jordan Norville-Williams slotted in at left back superbly on his debut and indeed was responsible for us getting back into the game with a well struck

shot which was unlucky to hit the post but it rebounded into the path of Nabs who slotted home the equaliser. Dylan Williams scored his 14th goal of the season to put us in the driving seat however we succumbed to a late equaliser and the spoils were shared. Also, prior to this game, Taylor

Parr was presented with his award for Supporters’ Player of the Month for February, much delayed of course due to our Banbury postponement at the beginning of the month. Well done Tay, keep it going!!!! These notes have been written prior to Saturday’s visit to Dorchester Town so hopefully, we have built on the Stortford performance and gained a positive result down south to bring into today’s game.

We will face Eynesbury Rovers in the Huntingdonshire Senior Final on Wednesday 2nd May 2018 – match to be played at Yaxley FC – kick off 7:45. Admission – Adults £8 Concession /Children £5 Away from the pitch, We recently held our first Quiz Night. All I can say is WOW, what a great night. 21 teams took part and the Gregory Suite was filled to bursting point. On the night, we raised £921 towards our Astro Renovation fund which is absolutely fantastic. On a personal note, It was fantastic to have Matt Clements, Kayleigh, Gary Dean and his good lady wife Vicki come along to support the evening and be part of my team, which finished a respectable 5th on the night. What a superb night’s entertainment and one which will be repeated in the coming months. Ok then, back to today’s game. Play your part off the pitch, cheering your team on in the right manner.

MANAGER’S NOTES A huge welcome to you all today over this Bank Holiday Easter weekend and a warm welcome to our local neighbours of St Ives. We are looking like we are getting our stride back again after a indifferent and tough few weeks. But that’s football and that’s part of development, never getting too high with the highs or too low with the lows. We’ve come a long way this season and seen some great progression from a young and inexperienced side looking to set a platform to build on this season.

So, today we go again, in search of a positive performance that can really ignite our run in and keep us on track for a potential highest finish for a few seasons and take us into good form for silverware and a top half finish. I urge you all to keep the support you’ve faithfully shown this season of which I speak on behalf of the team and staff

when I say it’s genuinely appreciated. Also a huge welcome to Alconbury Colts Under 6 and Under 7’s too today, who are our mascots for the afternoon and we wish them a fantastic experience here at St Neots Town. COYS Matt Clements

A special welcome for our next home Southern League Premier Division fixture of the season with neighbours ST IVES TOWN our visitors this afternoon. A glance at the records shows that the last time we defeated St Ives in a league match was here on 25th April 2011 although we have only met in league combat home and away three times since then. That victory (report later in the programme) made St Neots Club history for it clinched the United Counties League championship and propelled us into Step Four and the Southern League for the first time in our history. Home fans will be interested to note that two of St Neots substitutes that day unable to earn a start were Lewis Hilliard and Junior Kanadu. However back to the here and now. Our visitors will be comforted by the knowledge that there will be only one relegation from the Premier Division this season because of the structural reorganisation of senior football next season. At present after a wretched season St Ives would have been fifteen points from survival at Step Three but for the changes. However, with a heavy programme of rearranged fixtures still to complete in less than four weeks they mathematically only require six points to ensure their survival at this level next season (and that is assuming that bottom club Gosport win all their remaining matches – unlikely as they have only won twice all season!). In their first season at Step Three last year St Ives finished fifteenth – four places above our lads but this time around player movement and pitch problems

have disrupted their attempts to find consistency in their results and away from home this season they have won just five times in twenty trips. At home they have struggled even more winning just twice in sixteen matches (prior to their midweek match with Slough). However, for both of our clubs a new dawn breaks in August, most probably in a new Southern League Central Division. So enjoy this afternoon regardless of the result and we can all look forward expectantly to an exciting new landscape in August. CLUB HISTORY St Ives Town FC was formed on Thursday 15th September 1887. About 40 people met at the Unicorn Hotel to “consider the desirability of forming a football club”. It was unanimously decided to form a club, to be called St Ives Town FC under Association Rules. The membership subscription decided upon was 3 Shillings & Sixpence including an entrance fee of 1 Shilling to be paid in advance. The kit was chosen to be black with a white star. The club rose to success by the turn of the century, collecting both Huntingdonshire Senior and Junior Cups in 1901. The Senior Cup was won again in 1912 but the club’s most successful era was the twenties. The Cambridgeshire League was won on three successive occasions from 1923 to 1925, there were Hunts Senior Cup successes in 1923 and 1926 with the Scott-Gatty Cup won in 1923 and 1924. Honours continued to be won in the thirties with the Senior Cup

(1930), Scott-Gatty Cup (1932) and Peterborough League championship (1938) all won. In 1949 the Saints joined the farflung Central Amateur League, However 12 months later the club decided to move into the much more local UCL 2nd Division. The team struggled and two years later they rejoined the Peterborough League. The Scott-Gatty Cup was won in 1961 but league fortunes plummeted as the Saints slid down to the Peterborough League 3rd Division. They won that division in 1978 and then won speedy promotions in the following years. This culminated with a Division One title earning a Premier Division place in 1982. Three years later St Ives moved back into the UCL. Huntingdonshire Senior Cup successes were recorded in 1982, 1987 and 1988 while the revival of the Premier Cup saw the Saints reach the first final in 1989, losing 3-0 to Cambridge United. They also reached the Premier Cup final in 1997 and 1998, losing 5-4 to Potton and 2-1 to Biggleswade Town respectively. After finishing next to bottom in Division One in 2002, St Ives enjoyed improved fortunes under the management of Warren Everdell and Jez Hall. A memorable 2004-05 campaign saw the Saints finish third in Division One to win promotion to the top flight for the first time in their history. Modern History 2012/13 saw the Saints First Team once again make history

and after a long season the club was promoted to Step 4 of the non-league pyramid for the first time club’s 125-year history. The Saints finished in second place behind Holbeach United but secured promotion as the highest placed with the necessary ground grading. The Saints also reached the League Cup final for the fourth consecutive season, but lost out to third placed Spalding United in the final match of the season. This season also saw the sale of Conor Washington in October, who also managed to secure promotion – to the Football League with Newport County. Our Reserves were also crowned Cambridgeshire Division 2B champions finishing12 points clear of second place. During this season Warren Everdell & Jez Hall achieved their 500th game in charge together as CoManagers and Will Fordham and Dan Newman also achieved this achievement with 500 appearances in a Saints shirt. 2013/14 saw the Saints perform well in the Southern League Division One Central against some strong opposition and ended up a healthy 13th in the league. The fans deserve recognition during this season as the stats showed St Ives was the fourth highest attended team in the league. Away from the league the club reached the second qualifying round of the FA cup, just losing out in a replay to Concord Rangers of the Conference South. In the Trophy, he club also reached the second qualifying round. Finally, the season finished with a trip to St Neots where we ran out runners-up in the Hunts Senior Cup final. At the end of the season, Warren Everdell and Jez Hall announced they were stepping down from their managerial positions after 12 years at the helm. Most of the club’s successes to date were during their tenure.

2014/15 saw the new management team of Ricky Marheineke, formerly of Huntingdon and Histon and Jack Cassidy, also from Histon take over the First Team squad. The duo re-shuffled the squad bringing in new faces. During this adjustment results slipped, however the second half of the season saw the Saints climb the table and finished a very respectable 9th position. It was decided during this season that the current U18’s team would be replaced by a Scholarship programme, led by assistant manager Jack Cassidy. A Ladies team would also be set up in the close season run by Darren Marjoram. A now fairly settled First Team and two brand new teams will mean a very exciting time for the club for the 2015/16 season. ST IVES TOWN FC SQUAD 2017/18 TIM TREBES Goalkeeper Tim has worked with manager Ricky Marhineke for over five seasons across two different clubs. At the end of his first season with the Ives he received the supporter’s player of the season following a change in fortunes with the club’s defensive record post him signing. He played a vital role throughout the successful promotion campaign and kept that form going throughout last season. Everyone at the Club will be delighted to see him back after a short break at the start of this season. TOM SMITH Goalkeeper Seventeen year old Tom is a product of the successful Ives scholarship programme. This highly promising young keeper is a very solid and confident shot stopper. He made his first team debut last season against Biggleswade Town in the third round of the Challenge Cup and also appeared in the Quarter

Final win over Barton Rovers. CHARLIE DE’ATH Defender Club captain Charlie received all the accolades in the promotion season, a wonderful season for him personally and for the team. The central defender took a little while to settle at step 3. But he came back strong as the season wore on and finished with some outstanding performances. The former Northampton Town Scholar has developed well into a very talented central defender who is also capable of coming up with the odd vital goal. LLOYD GROVES Defender 27 year old Lloyd joins the Ives from high flying Thurlow Nunn League side Newmarket Town. The ball playing centre back adds a formidable presence to the Ives back line. He also has a happy knack of popping up with important goals when he ventures into the opposition box. EUFA B qualified coach Lloyd is a product of the West Ham United academy and has enjoyed successful spells locally with both Godmanchester Rovers and Soham Town Rangers. He is also the present Academy coach at Histon FC LUKE WARNER-ELEY Defender 21 year old full back Luke has joined the Ives recently from Uxbridge where he has been a regular this season. He was part of Royston Town’s promotion winning side in Southern League Division one Central last season and his other previous clubs include Barton Rovers, Potters Bar Town and Levestock Green. MILES SMITH Defender Cambridge-born defender, Miles began his career as an apprentice with West Ham United and was given his first taste of senior football at the age of 18 during a loan spell with Wycombe Wanderers towards the end of the 2010/11 season.

Released by the Hammers at the end of that season he joined Chertsey, before moving on to Farnborough and Cambridge City. Miles joined Histon for the first time in September, 2013 but made only a single appearance before moving on to Bury Town in November, 2013. He returned to Histon in December, 2014 and went on to make 16 appearances in 2014/15 before leaving at the end of the season to join Kettering Town. He also had a brief spell at Soham Town Rangers before joining Corby Town in December, 2016. He was a first team regular in the number two shirt for the Steelmen for the remainder of 2016/17 and the start of the new season before agreeing to join Ricky Marheineke at the Ives in September 2017. JAMIE SHORT Defender Seventeen year old Jamie is another exciting product of the Ives scholarship programme. He made his debut last season at Merthyr Town and immediately showed his is a very promising player who is an excellent reader of the game with a cool head. Equally importantly for a defender he is very willing to go in where it hurts and put his body on the line when necessary

Town as a Scholar, joined Corby Town in 2011 and enjoyed a three year spell with the Steel Men before leaving for Brackley Town in the summer of 2014. That stay proved short lived however as he moved to Stamford in September of that year and went on to complete the season with The Daniels, scoring twice in their dramatic 3-2 win over Witton Albion on the final day of last season to secure the clubs’ Step 3 status. Tom was one of Ricky Marheineke’s first signings for the 2016-17 campaign and his battling qualities quickly made him a fans favourite at the Pro-Edge. PETER CLARK Midfield Peter is an athletic and creative midfield player with a big heart who returned to the Pro Edge Stadium from St Neots Town mid way through last season. He started his career with Cambridge United before moving to Histon as a 16 year old where enjoyed three seasons with the Stutes playing in both Conference North and Southern League Premier Division before joining the Ives for his first spell in 2015. During that spell scored three goals and created a number of others in 27 appearances.

DANIEL MOYES Defender Dan is an experienced player who can play numerous positions. He missed a lot of 2014/15 season with a serious knee injury. But returned fully fit for 2015/16 and played a vital role in the promotion campaign. Last season he dual registered with Eynesbury Rovers, but was always available when needed. Life and sole of the party off the pitch and always a man to give 100% when called upon.

PHIL DRAYCOTT Midfield Phil is another player returning to the Ives. He departed the Club last summer following promotion to the Southern Premier division. He had an unsettled season last term but as we all know, he will be a great addition to the squad for the coming season. The left sided player played a huge part in our successful promotion season barely missing a game and popping up with the odd vital goal.

TOM MCGOWAN Midfield The box to box midfielder originally with Northampton

EUGENE LIBERTUCCI Midfield Eugene is a hugely talented central midfielder who has

played for both Histon and Bedford Town. He has recently had a break from the game due to work commitments but was keen to link up again with manager Ricky Marheieneke from their successful time at Histon. ROGAN MCGEORGE Midfield Cambridge based Rogan has joined Ives in November 2017 from Peterborough Sports. This all action holding midfielder has also had spells at Stamford, Soham Town Rangers, Wisbech Town, Hitchin Town, Histon & St.Neots Town. His terrific work rate and willingness to get stuck in are likely to very quickly make him a fans favourite. To add to his eagerness to do the ugly stuff he also has excellent vision and distribution. His powerful presence just in front of the back four also has the advantage of releasing Tom McGowan into a more forward role which looks likely to reap its rewards in the coming weeks. BEN SAWYER Midfield/Striker Hard working striker Ben has joined the Ives this October from Bedford Town, linking up with former manager Ricky Marheineke having previously played for him at Histon. Local lad Ben started his career with Cambridge City before moving on the Langford, Soham Town Rangers and Barton Rovers. His battling style will soon make him a fans favourite as he battles to become a regular starter in the team. LEWIS LESLIE Midfield Lewis is a 26-year-old midfielder, who joined just ahead of this season’s transfer deadline from Evo-Stik Division One Central leaders AFC Rushden & Diamonds. He had started his career with United Counties League side Cogenhoe United where he had risen from the youth ranks to become a first-team regular. Although he

missed the 2013/14 season due to a knee injury he recovered to play forty-one times for the Cooks during the following season, scoring 12 goals. He has made over 60 appearances for Diamonds scoring a dozen goals since his debut for them in November 2016. DECLAN ROGERS Midfield/Striker Much travelled goal scoring midfield man Declan rejoined the Ives in December 2017 having previously spent a brief period with them in pre-season 2016. After leaving the Club he enjoyed a successful time with local rival St Neots Town before moving on to step 5 Eynesbury Rovers at the start of 2017-18 season, now keen to test himself again at step 3 he has rejoined manager Ricky Marheineke’s side. He started his career at Peterborough United and his other previous clubs include Wisbech Town, Peterborough Northern Star, Cambridge City, Soham Town Rangers, Huntingdon Town and AFC Rushden & Diamonds. OLLIE SNAITH Midfield/Striker Ollie is an energetic attacking midfielder and a product of Newmarket Town’s youth setup. He made his debut for the Jockeys at the age of 16, and went on to make over a century of first team appearances. He was made their player of the year in 2015/16 and was subsequently snapped up by Needham Market in 2016. He went on from there to join Cambridge City in January 2017 and has now made the switch to Ives to give manager Ricky Marheineke more options in the centre of the park. DANNY KELLY Striker After spells with the youth teams at Cambridge United, Peterborough United & Histon, Danny joined Norwich City in 2007. Successful performances in the youth and reserve teams

saw him rewarded with a oneyear professional contract in 2009. However, he never played for the first team and left to join League Two side Barnet in the summer of 2010 making his debut against Chesterfield. Danny is also a former youth international captain of the Republic of Ireland and has most recently appeared for Cambridge City since 2014, he joined the Ives at the start of last season to strengthen the attack. His selfless running and ability to hold up the ball have quickly made him a vital cog in the manager’s plans to continue to take the Club forward. BEN BAKER Striker Pacey and exciting young wide man Ben has joined the Ives initially on a one month loan from Kettering Town. He joined the Poppies in October 2015 from Barwell FC and has made regular appearances, often making considerable impact with his direct running style particularly when coming off the bench. DUBI OGBONNA Striker Dubi is a natural athlete with a great physique. He came through the Southend United academy, but was unfortunately released after a one-year professional contract. Undeterred, he looked to bounce back and signed for Soham Town Rangers in 2009. He enjoyed two years with the club, scoring 30 goals in just 62 appearances. His form alerted a number of clubs and he came extremely close to signing for Scottish giants Glasgow Celtic. Since then he has also had spells with AFC Sudbury, King’s Lynn Town, Cambridge City, St Neots Town, Kettering Town and his brief previous spell with the Ives where he scored 13 goals in 13 games at the start of 2013/14 season. He joined the squad part way through last season after completing a second spell

with Rymans League Soham Town Rangers DANNY WATSON Striker Ex England schoolboy international Danny Watson has returned to the Ives from Barton Rovers after recent spells at Bedford Town and local rivals St Neots Town. He will, of course, be remembered for his previous time at the Pro-Edge in the successful 2015-16 promotion campaign where the most important of his 20 goals was the late equalizer in the Play-Off Final against AFC Rushden & Diamonds. His previous clubs also include Kempston Rovers, Ampthill Town, Leighton Town and Newport Pagnell Town TOM KNOWLES Striker 19 year old striker Tom has joined the Ives initially on a one month loan from Cambridge United. The teenager is a second year scholar with the U’s and spent the first half of this season gaining experience with Cambridge City where he enjoyed a very successful spell knocking in ten goals in his 28 appearances. He played a big part in Cambridge United Under 18’s run to fourth round of FA Youth Cup last season and finished the season with a loan spell at Ives local Southern League rivals St Neots Town. MATT WRIGHT Striker Eighteen year old Matt is another very promising product of the scholarship programme. He was the leading scorer for the Under 18’s last season and has the pace and finishing ability to frighten any defence. It is only a matter of time before he grabs a goal for the first team and when this happens and his confidence grows he will certainly be one to watch.

RESULTS may be the be-all-and-end-all for some in the professional game, but so many clubs at NonLeague level are at the heart of their communities, carrying out so much good work that often goes unheralded. That’s why we honour those clubs who go the extra mile – and this year’s National Game Awards, in association with leading sports coaching and education firm SCL, are no different. Once again, the Community Club of the Year Award is backed by The Football Foundation, who pump £30m into grassroots football every year, helping clubs to build or improve their facilities for the good of not just players and fans, but local people too. With so many Non-League clubs doing their bit for their cities, towns and villages, we want you to have your say and let us know who should pick up the coveted prize. We’ve had some worthy winners over the years: in 2016, Dulwich Hamlet took home the award thanks to a variety of initiatives, such as free tickets for local schools and charity games to raise funds for refugees. Last year, Sutton United’s efforts to open up their Gander Green Lane home to over 40 clubs – including youth, ladies and disability teams – and breathe life into the community, was enough to bag them NGA recognition. Big shoes to fill then in 2018, but with community being at the heart of the grassroots game there are plenty of clubs to pick from. Bromley have been putting their state-of-the-art 3G pitch to excellent use, nurturing young talent through weekend soccer schools while also hosting a new recreational women’s team for over 30s. Harrogate Town, too, have been doing their bit for the future of English football through a partnership with a local college as well as their impressive Youth Development Programme, offering youngsters a chance to learn from professional UEFA-licenced coaches such as Town gaffer Simon Weaver. Their inclusive weekly football sessions for sufferers of mental health are also breaking down boundaries and prejudice within the community. These are just a couple of examples of teams switched on to the fact football clubs live or die by their work in the community, and so, like many of our awards, we need you to help us highlight the best of Non-League so we make sure to pick the most deserving winner come May. All you need to do is tell us who you think deserves recognition and why in less than 200 words. Forward your nomination to us at ngavotes@greenwayspublishing.com

JORDAN

1ST TEAM REPORT ST NEOTS TOWN Southern League Premier Division St Neots let themselves down as they allowed their ten-man visitors to grab a late goal to ensure a share of the points that they hardly deserved. The home side had dominated possession and created most of the chances but a late loss of concentration when their first victory in five matches beckoned cost them dear. After five wins in their last six outings Stortford were one of the form sides in the Premier Division but they were made to look very ordinary in the early stages of the match as a resurgent looking St Neots took the game to them. Having solved their recent problem of finding the back of the net the home side must now work on tightening up their defence because the visitors earned their share of the points with two very soft goals. After his injury sustained at Merthyr Johnny Herd was not fully fit and left on the bench but new loan signing Jordan Norville-Williams from Cambridge United looked an adequate replacement and was the architect of his sides’ second goal. Elsewhere Liam McDevitt and David Bridges returned to the side replacing Dan Buddle and Johnny Butler. An early header by Nabil Shariff passed just the wrong side of a post and a 30 yards effort by Luke Knight was comfortably gathered by visiting keeper Callam Kitscha. St Neots thought they had gone ahead after 10 minutes when debut boy Jordan Norville-Williams fed Dylan Williams whose shot beat the keeper but rebounded off the

2

BISHOP’S STORTFORD

post and little was seen of the visiting attack in the opening 25 minutes. Then they did carve out two half chances – Darren Foxley’s shot was deflected wide and then a defensive slip let in Alfie Mason, but he fired high over the bar. For a spell late in the first half much of the play was restricted to midfield with the St Neots trio of Kyron Wiltshire, David Bridges and Luke Knight seeing plenty of the ball but failing to create real openings for their front players. Then with less than a minute remaining in the first half Stortford went ahead against the run of play. An attack down the right and cross from Jack Thomas found the much-travelled Jamie Cureton and when his effort was blocked the ball fell to Darren Foxley who beat Iron with a low finish. The second half began with a flurry of action. Jordan Westcott should have extended Stortford’s advantage a minute in when he headed badly wide when unmarked, but St Neots went down the other end to level the scores. Norville-Williams picked up the ball on the edge of his own penalty area and surged forward to shoot and beat the keeper, but the ball rebounded from the inside of the far post, but only as far as Nabil Shariff on hand to score from six yards. The keeper then made up for that with two stunning saves – the first from a Dion Sembie-Ferris narrowangled effort and the second as he twisted to turn over a perfectly placed Williams shot from under the crossbar. St Neots increased the pressure and Wiltshire had a net-bound shot blocked and Marvel Expiteta cleared off the line from Sembie-Ferris. The

2

home side reaped the reward for their pressure after 62 minutes when leading scorer Dylan Williams claimed his thirteenth league goal of the campaign to put St Neots ahead. More chances followed with SembieFerris seeing an effort blocked and Tom Wood ballooning a shot high over the bar. A 77th minute incident saw Stortford reduced to ten men with Thomas sent off after he appeared to strike Luke Knight who was also booked, but against the odds the visitors snatched an 86th minute second equalizer when full back George Casey popped up at the far post behind the St Neots defence to earn their unlikely point. St Neots: Iron, Wood, NorvilleWilliams, Knight, McDevitt, Parr, Sembie-Ferris, Bridges, Shariff, Wiltshire, Williams (D) Subs: Broccoli (for Wiltshire 87 mins) Sinclair (for Williams 90 mins), Buddle, Butler and Herd. CHAIRMAN’S NOTES It was great to come and stand amongst you all on Saturday for my first home game as your new Chairman of this great club. I did not take me long to join in with cheering the team along and getting that feeling like only fans know when watching their team play. The game showed all the emotions, skill and qualities that Matt and the lads have brought to us this year, keeping us on our toes and whatever they had in the half time tea, it

certain had a big impact as it put us back in the game and driving seat. However, unfortunately, we had to share the spoils on the day and hopefully we can build on this performance. I will be willing the lads on and hope we can produce some of the great form shown this season and

continue adding to our points tally to finish our season strongly. Finally, may I say warm welcome to all the officials and supporters of St Ives Town for today’s game. Bring it home Saints. Barry

ST IVES TOWN

St Neots capped the best ever season in their history with the UCL Championship and almost certain promotion to Step Four next season – and all with one match to spare. Their visitors for this pivotal match in their history were the old enemy from nearby St Ives and despite the final score line they did themselves proud pushing home side to the limit. St Ives have a great record against St Neots with three wins and three draws in their last eight meetings with all the respective victories decided by a single goal but there was only going to be one winner in this match once St Neots had their noses in front. Roared on by a massive 800+ shirt sleeved crowd this was a memorable encounter and recorded for posterity on video. Club skipper Glen Fuff replaced Ian Gayle in an otherwise unchanged line up as St Neots progressed to within two points of the all-time UCL record set in 1994 by Rothwell Town. With only one league defeat in 39 outings this will be a season to remember.

were settled as Dominic Green swapped flanks to cut in from the left and collect a superbly weighted pass from Stefan Moore to crash the ball into the roof of the net. A close range shot from Moore rebounded from the keeper’s chest and onto a post before being retrieved and a Dan Jacob cross beat the back-peddling Conroy-Owen but rebounded off the far post. St Ives responded with Scott Fielding shooting weakly at goal after good work by Matt Bannister and then Luke McShane comfortable saved a cross from Tom McGowan. St Neots then seemed to lose momentum with too many long passes forward snapped up by the visiting defence although in one double attack Conroy Owen blocked shots with his legs from both Stefan Moore and Dominic Green. The game needed another goal and it came two minutes before the break when Green floated a free kick to the far post and with the defence opened up Will Fordham was able to walk the ball into the goal from close range to put one over on his former side.

St Neots began well dominating the opening phase. Dan Jacob won the ball to set up Stefan Moore whose shot was the wrong side of a post and then Niall Conroy-Owen saved well from a speculative 35 yards shot from Dominic Green. After ten minutes the early nerves

The first twenty minutes of the second half really settled to outcome of this match. St Neots really produced their best form and were rewarded with two further goals. Junior Kanudu came on to replace Gavin Strachan and with his first clever touch he found Dan

Jacob who flicked the ball inside the final defender for Stefan Moore to pause and commit the keeper before slotting the ball into the net after an hour. Four minutes later there was no way back for St Ives as Shane Tolley and Dan Jacob combined to set up Dominic Green for his second goal of the match. St Neots sent on two further substitutes, but St Ives were still not giving up and five minutes from time the hard-working Scott Fielding gave them a welldeserved consolation goal with a volley that left Like McShane helpless. Conroy Own then saved well from Moore and denied Green his hat trick with best save of the match. Ecstatic scenes and fireworks greeted the final whistle as League Vice Chairman George Whiting presented the medals

and trophy.

St Neots: McShane, Moore (D), Hyem, Webb, Fuff, Fordham, Green, Strachan, Moore (S), Tolley, Jacob. Subs: Kanudu (for Strachan 59 mins), Hilliard (for Webb 70 mins), Scully (for Tolley 70 mins), Gent and Davies. Man of the Match: Will Fordham John Walker.
