ΣΤη ςΚΙΑ Τού βρΑχού Της ΑΚροΠολης, απέναντι από τη Βαρβάκειο Αγορά, ομάδες και φορείς οργανώνουν και υλοποιούν δράσεις, ανταλλάσσοντας εμπειρίες και τεχνογνωσία υπό την αιγίδα του «συνΑθηνά», ενός κοινού τόπου συνάντησης, διευκόλυνσης και αξιοποίησης των πολιτών που ενδιαφέρονται για τη βελτίωση της ποιότητας ζωής στην πόλη. Ποιος θα μπορούσε να είναι καταλληλότερος να φιλοτεχνήσει την όψη της βιοκλιματικής στέγης τους, από έναν εκπρόσωπο της υποκουλτούρας του graffiti που στέφθηκε «προδότης», γιατί αποφάσισε εκτός από την –υπό συνθήκες διωγμού– δράση και την επανάληψη της wannabe διάσημης υπογραφής του, να καλύψει εν πρώτοις κάποιες ανάγκες εναρμόνισης του έργου του με το περιβάλλον και στη συνέχεια, τις ανάγκες επιβίωσής του μέσα από την «αποτρόπαιη» –για το σινάφι του– λέξη «κέρδος»;

Το έργο στην όψη της Στέγης του «συνΑθηνά» είναι ένα πάντρεμα ενός μοτίβου του καλλιτέχνη με τις Καρυάτιδες. Σε μια εποχή που πλέον έχουμε αρχίσει να πιστεύουμε ότι οι κόρες από τις Καρυές θα επιστρέψουν στη χώρα μας, ένας τολμηρός καλλιτέχνης πιθανότατα μας συστήνει μια νέα τέχνη με φόρμες και σχέδια που ενώ καμία σχέση δεν έχουν με την τέχνη της αρχαίας Ελλάδας, μοιραία εμπεριέχουν την ιστορία της. Κάθε φορά που το βλέπω, αισθάνομαι ότι εκεί μέσα γεννιούνται νέες Καρυάτιδες, πιο αναρχικές, πιο ροκ, πιο ασυμβίβαστες... Γνώρισα τον Cacao rocks στο υπόγειο ατελιέ του στου Ψυρρή. Με επιρροές από τον Jean-Michel basquiat, πρωτεργάτη των graffiti, έως τον Κοκτό και τους εικαστικούς Γαΐτη και Βαρώτσο, ο κατά κόσμον Ιάσονας, μετά το Πανεπιστήμιο του Μίσιγκαν μάς χαρίζει –στο κέντρο της Αθήνας– έργα που, λόγω της φύσης τους, μερικές φορές δεν έχει προλάβει καν να τα φωτογραφίσει. «Αυτή είναι η τέχνη μας», μου είπε χαμογελώντας... IN THE SHADOW OF THE ACROPOLIS, OPPOSITE THE VARVAKEIOS MARKET, groups and organizations arrange and implement actions, exchanging experiences and expertise, under the auspices of the «synAthena», a common meeting place, facilitation and utilization of citizens who interested to improving the quality of life in the city. Who could be more appropriate to portray their bioclimatic building by a representative of the graffiti subculture, crowned as a traitor and decides that, apart from engaging in his often persecuted activities and from persistently ensuring that his ‘wannabe famous’ signature is displayed in public, he also wishes to integrate his work into the environment and to address some of his basic survival needs through the abhorrent –for his peers– concept of profit?

The work on the side of “synAthina” building, is a fusion of a pattern with the Caryatids. At a time when we have begun to believe that the daughters of Karyes will return to our country, a dashing artist probably introduces us, into new art forms and designs that, while they have nothing to do with the art of ancient Greece, are fatally encompassing its history. Every time i see it, i feel confident that there are born new Caryatids, more anarchist, more rock, more incompatible. i met Cacao rocks at his underground studio in the area of Psyrri. With influences from pioneer graffiti artist Jean-Michel basquiat, Jean Cocteau and Greek artists Gaitis and Varotsos, and in spite of some ‘obstacles’ from his sculptor father, Cacao rocks (‘Jason’ to his friends) has created in the centre of Athens an array of works, many of which he did not even have the chance to photograph –for “such is the nature of our art”, as he smilingly says…
