her first music video on Channel 4, where she’s seen strutting various types of bionic legs. The model turned singer has battled her entire life due to being born with a dislocated hip and leg, which left her unable to walk properly or without pain. After over 15 surgeries in Latvia, Viktoria moved to the UK hoping for better treatment. Yet after more failed surgeries here she finally persuaded doctors to have her leg amputated.
RIHANNA SWEARS OFF BAD BOY RAPPERS
R
ihanna has had arguably one of the world’s most successful pop careers, yet the ‘S&M’ hitmaker still can’t seem to profit in the love stakes.
Rihanna, who has been holidaying in Barbados, has revealed to pals that she won’t be hooking up with anymore bad boy rappers after two very public, failed romances with Chris Brown and Drake. “She isn’t going to mess with anybody in the industry,” a close pal said. “Those guys bring her nothing but pain and heartbreak.” Rihanna has drawn criticism for staying with rapper Chris Brown after he assaulted her in 2009 and her relationship with rapper Drake also ended last year amid claims that he has been treating her badly. “Most of her boyfriends have been whack and childish and she doesn’t have time for that. She’s not trying to raise a man,” the source continued.

LUDACRIS POPS THE QUESTION
R
apper and ‘Fast and Furious’ star Ludacris has just got engaged to his long-term girlfriend Eudoxie after a serious, high-flying romantic gesture.
JEN & CHRIS REKINDLE ROMANCE
J
ennifer Lawrence and Chris Martin are reportedly giving their fledgling relationship another go.
The couple first started seeing each other in July last year but broke up a few months later with Jennifer blaming conflicting schedules as the reason for the split. Friends close to the star said Chris’ ‘close’ relationship with ex-wife Gwyneth Paltrow was another major factor in them calling time on the relationship.
However their romantic dinner out on December 30 at an LA Sushi restaurant was a sure indication that things have heated up between them again.
Ludacris hired a plane and had the words “Eudoxie will you marry me?” emblazoned on a marble surface aboard the plane. He also took snaps on his phone showing Eudoxie covering her eyes and another with her laughing, nestling into his neck. The ‘All I Wanna Do’ rapper captioned the collage on Instagram with: “She didn’t say yes. She said HELL YES! #milehighproposal” Ludacris, who also plays Tej Parker in the ‘Fast and Furious’ franchises, has been dating Eudoxie since 2009.
“Even though they are busy, the relationship is solid again. They see each other whenever they can.” a friend said. “Jennifer now understands that the children come first with Chris and that his relationship with Gwyneth is based around the family and will always be a part of his life.” Meanwhile, as news of Jennifer and Chris’ rekindled romance emerged, so did Gwyneth’s Harper’s Bazaar interview in which she admitted she had regrets about letting her husband go. “Of course, there are times when I think it would have been better if we had stayed married, which is always what your children want,” she said. “But we have been able to solidify this friendship, so that we’re really close.”

FOR HIM tech & gadgets
SMELL-O-VISION
Smartphones now have the technology to send scented messages, with the aroma of champagne and macaroons already having been sent from the US to Paris. The system consists of an app which allows users to create an ‘oNote’ with a smell created out of a palette of 32 scents that can be combined in 300,000 possible combinations.
“The olfactory overload of a Sunday afternoon visit to your local flower market can be texted to a friend a thousand miles away. In 2015, I predict that the ability to digitally transmit smells will hit the mainstream,” he said.
The oNote can then be sent to the oPhone hardware - a device which is able to recreate the smell. Other technology in this field is the Scentee device, which can release a favourite aroma when an individual receives a text message. Scentee also claims to be able to change the taste of food with its mini air-freshener-like, alcohol-based aroma cartridges. A user can select to emit a puff of scent at will using the small plastic device. Nesta project manager Josh McNorton said the emerging Smell-O-Vision technology will hit the mainstream this year.

WAVE GOODBYE TO CREDIT CARDS
While shopping has never been top on the list of hobbies for men, a new contactless glove that will enable users to simply wave and pay, could soon change all that.
NEWS The glove was trialled over Christmas by Barclaycard in the UK and if customer feedback proves successful, it could be rolled out among other European territories, including Spain, by the end of 2015. It is deemed as the ‘latest innovation in wearable tech’. Google glasses and iwatches are also topping the list as the most sought-after gadgets on the market. The glove, made in wool and touch-screen enabled, will allow shoppers to ‘wave and pay’ eliminating the annoying fumbling for cards and tapping in pins. They are designed to act exactly like a credit or debit card and are embedded with a BPay contactless chip that can be used to pay for transactions of up to £20…. at the moment.
being able to pay with gloves would take some of the stress out of their Christmas shopping, we wanted to respond positively to shoppers’ demand,” he concluded. Barclaycard said 45 million contactless cards were in circulation in the UK and a quarter of all plastic new cards were contactless-enabled.
LIFTING LANGUAGE BARRIERS – SKYPE’S LIVE TRANSLATION TOOL
If you haven’t learnt Spanish yet, there is now, terribly, another excuse not to bother! Skype has just released a live translation tool that allows users to speak to each other in another language. The tool translates speech instantly providing both text and spoken translations. So even if you don’t know what you’re saying in Spanish, the other person will. Que bien! Microsoft, who bought the voice-over IP service, Skype, for a cool $8.5bn in 2011, has just launched the trial. Conveniently for us, it is in Spanish and English to start. Eventually Washington-based Microsoft will roll out the translation tool in over 40 different languages, including Klingon (?!) - although no dates have been given for the full service.
Another main reason for the trial is to eliminate long queues at tills as payment can be done instantly. In the current climate, retailers have admitted they are searching for modern-day technology that can ease a shopper’s experience.
You will need to have the latest Windows 8.1 device to try out the technology, available now. To have a go, visit the Beta version at Skype.com/en/translator-preview.
Barclaycard said it is trialling the glove after shoppers in a survey of 2,000 voted the glove as the most “desired” wearable payment item. They were popular among shoppers who wanted an easier way to pay while laden with shopping bags. Rings and bracelets came second and third, it said. “At some point most of us have experienced the stress of holding bags full of shopping while trying to find a spare hand to get our card out of our purse or wallet to pay,” said Mike Saunders, managing director of digital consumer payments at Barclaycard. “Some may have even been subjected to frustration from those piling up in the queue behind them - so when people told us that

KNEE HIGH BOOTS ARE BACK
I
f you have to buy one thing in January, it should definitely be over the knee boots. Seen on the likes of Lauren Pope and Mirander Kerr, these fabulous feline delights are perfect for day to evening dressing. But beware, in order not to channel Julia Roberts in ‘Pretty Woman’ there are rules which you need to follow. Think over the knee, as opposed to thigh high and remember to keep it classy not trashy, so if you are flashing a bit of flesh on the leg, then keep the top half covered. Over the knee boots look fab with jeans for a modern daytime look and can create the illusion of longer legs. For a chic and sophisticated look which you can take into the evening then go for an on trend block heel. Suede and leather are the materials of choice in black or grey. On a budget: Topshop Colide Boots: £130

hey say that what goes around comes around and if the SS15 trend predictions are correct then this is certainly true for fashion. Whilst January and February are always difficult times in the fashion calendar the new year is well under way and Spring/Summer clothing lines are beginning to hit the shelves but with weather somewhat unpredictable at this time it is hard to know what to wear. But fear not, we have selected our favourite transitional pieces just for you. If your bank balance is still recovering from Christmas then the skinted outfits will be perfect, but if you feel like splashing the cash then try our delicious minted options.
Bold flower prints: All over the catwalks from Michael Kors to Victoria Beckham, bold flower prints are back and more vibrant than ever. This shirt dress from Topshop (£55) perfectly incorporates

both the floral trend and 60s revival. This will look great with a hot pair of over the knee boots or dressed down with a pair of gladiators.
Full leather ensembles were spotted in the collections of Prada, Louis Vuitton and Proenza Schouler amongst others for SS15. Leather will never go out of fashion and that’s why these leather skirts have earned their place on our must have pieces for 2015 list. TOP TIP- Invest in real leather, if you take good care of it, it will last a lifetime. Well worth the initial investment.

NEWS If you’re anything like the Marbella Rocks team to really appreciate your nights out there’s nothing quite like a relaxing night in. Cue DVD, dinner and a good bottle of wine. Here’s a rundown and recipe for a quality night in.
RECIPE
VALENTINE’S RECIPE: OYSTERS G-FELLER Notorious 18th Century lover, Casanova, reportedly used to eat 50 oysters for breakfast to increase his sexual stamina. A recent study by Dr George Fischer, chemistry professor at Barry University, backs the lothario’s penchant for saltwater molluscs. Apparently oysters possess chemical properties that increase testosterone and oestrogen levels in the body, thereby increasing the sex drive in both men and women. So in celebration of Valentine’s Day and ‘Fifty Shades’ we’ve brought you the tastiest Oyster recipe going. INGREDIENTS SAUCE: 2 tablespoons unsalted butter 2 cloves garlic 1 cup heavy cream 1/3 cup finely grated Parmigiano cheese 1/8 teaspoon freshly grated nutmeg 1 cup baby spinach, julienned OYSTERS: 1/2 cup finely diced pancetta 1 cup rock salt 1 dozen oysters, shucked 1/2 cup finely grated Parmigiano cheese 1/2 cup panko (Japanese-style breadcrumbs) or substitute with normal breadcrumbs here if you cant find 2 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil DIRECTIONS 1. To make the sauce, heat a pan over medium heat and melt the

butter. Add the garlic and fry for a minute or until golden. Add the cream, and then turn the heat down to medium-low. 2. Keep stirring until the cream begins to steam; do not let boil. Add the Parmigiano cheese, nutmeg, a pinch of salt and pepper, and stir until the cheese is melted and the sauce is thick. Add the spinach and stir until wilted. Remove from the heat. 3. For the oysters, preheat the oven to 200 degrees. Heat a pan over medium-high heat. Add the pancetta and render until crispy. 4. In a baking tray, lay down a bed of rock salt and place the oysters in their half shells atop the rock salt to stabilise them. Add one tablespoon of sauce per oyster. Sprinkle with the pancetta, Parmigiano, panko and drizzle with the olive oil. 5. Bake until golden and bubbling, about 10 minutes.
FOOD & WINE MATCH
WINE MATCH Muscadet comes in as the ultimate oyster wine for its outrageous leanness. The minerality of the wine matches with the salinity of an oyster - a heavenly match. The most classic pairing is Chablis
or a non-vintage Blanc de Blanc Champagne. Both are Chardonnay based and grown in mineral rich soils. The flinty freshness will accent the oyster quality and make the whole experience reminiscent of the sea. A final classic pairing is Sauvignon Blanc, another mineral driven choice. For example, the classic Sancerre, which is grown in a cool climate has flint based soils. Fruit, acidity and mineral perfection! With the cream in the recipe, if you strive for an old world Sauvignon Blanc, you will be pleased with the outcome. An alternative match is a Pinot Noir from New Zealand, Awatere Valley. Intense, elegant and semiBurgundian. Please try it. Contrary to popular belief, wine and oysters isn’t always a natural match. You must be careful with the wines you choose otherwise they can highlight tannic and sour qualities in wine. So if in doubt, the other alternative choice is Guinness. Extraordinary!

BOOK REVIEW
ENTER THE UNCREATED NIGHT Scientist and author Christopher Rankin’s psychological thriller ‘Enter the Uncreated Night’ is packed with the same power as previous hit titles ‘Creating Monsters’ and ‘Ann Marie’s Asylum’.
This new book, the third from Rankin, examines the human psyche in extremely in-depth form whereas his previous titles were mainly based on science and horror related themes. ‘Enter the Uncreated Night’ focuses on career psychologist Oscar Loste who is facing the most confusing and frightening case of his career. Six-year-old Beth is displaying bizarre behaviour, including interaction with an imaginary friend she calls Mister Smiler. This invented character supplies Beth with an impossible degree of knowledge about everything from science to ancient cultures to Oscar’s own secrets. The little girl’s parents, a highly-educated couple who also happen to be one of the wealthiest in the country, seem as bewildered as Oscar over Beth. We caught up with the owner of ‘Bamboo’, Eline Keijzer Aboutaka, to give you an insight into the restaurant that’s taking Marbella by storm.
Q: What was your inspiration behind setting up ‘Bamboo’? I have always been involved in the catering industry, and after running ‘Café Banus’ for eight years, I thought a concept restaurant like this was missing in Marbella. Q: Can you tell our readers more about ‘Bamboo’s exquisite and extraordinary gastronomy? We actually have various chefs for each different cuisine. Our head chef is our sushi chef called Pietro. He has a great reputation for being one of the best on the Costa del Sol, having worked at ‘Fashion Sushi’ in Marbella and also London. We also specialise in Thai food and to complement this we have Lebanese dishes and daily specials on the menu such as fillet steak and hamburger. Q: Can you name your signature dishes for each cuisine you serve?

group is usually over 30 but that varies.
Which are the ones that you’d highly recommend our readers try out? Thai: Red chicken curry is a favourite for most of our clients. Sushi: The jumbo roll, which has tempura prawn, salmon, tuna, wakame, avocado, cucumber and cream cheese. Also, the salmon deluxe which has salmon, cream cheese, avocado, cucumber and masago ali oli. Lebanese: Kibbeh and hummus are always in demand. Q: What type of clientele does ‘Bamboo’ attract? Marbella is an international community so we have clients from all over the world really. The age
Q: Who are some of your most famous celebrity guests? The tennis players Novak Djokovic and Feliciano Lopez, as well as Malaga footballer Roque Santa Cruz.
Q: You opened in 2007, having survived the boom and bust in Marbella, why do people keep coming back to ‘Bamboo’? I’d say great food, nice atmosphere and most importantly great value for money and easy parking.
NEWS Q: Do you allow non-dining guests to come in and have a drink or dance? Yes, non-dining guests are very welcome.
Q: You have live DJ’s every weekend so guests can enjoy dinner and dancing, is this a major factor in pulling in the crowds? Yes. We have ‘Deep Sushi Parties’ every Saturday and we also bring in live music acts and do fashion shows on a regular basis.
Q: What time does the DJ or entertainment usually start? It all starts at 9pm. Q: What type of music do you play? Usually deep house music. Q: You mix your DJs up each week, have you had any famous DJs take to the decks? We enjoy changing DJ’s for variation. Also, an up-and-coming DJ called Pio Valles often plays here; you can buy his songs on Spotify or iTunes.
Q: You also have a boutique on site, what type of fashion do you sell? We sell the ‘Eline Collection’ which is my own brand, designed by me. They are cashmere pashminas and handbags that are all made here in Spain. Q: What is the approximate price range of your collections? The pashminas start from €90 and the bags sell from €145 onwards. Q: So dinner, dancing and dressing up are ‘de riguer’ at ‘Bamboo’….. do you have any further expansion plans for 2015? Yes, as we still haven’t utilised the sun terrace part of the restaurant, so hopefully it will all be done before the summer for our guests to enjoy.
COCKTAIL OF THE MONTH
GIN FIZZ Apart from the classic fermented rice wine drink, sake, the most popular cocktail at ‘Bamboo’ is the ‘Gin Fizz’. Gin, lemon, sugar and soda are shaken in a cocktail shaker, then served in a tall tumbler filled with ice. It makes a refreshing and a perfect accompaniment to some of the spicier Thai dishes.

RAIN, WIND, HAIL, SNOW & FIRE. WHAT TO DO IF YOUR HOME IS DAMAGED BY ATMOSPHERIC PHENOMENON. General weather conditions in Spain As the climate has warmed globally, some types of extreme weather have become more frequent and severe in recent decades. Extreme heat, intense precipitation, and drought, are on the increase. Heat waves are becoming longer and hotter. Heavier rainfalls and flooding are more frequent. In a wide swing between extremes, drought is also more intense and more widespread. Small changes in the averages of many key climate variables can correspond to large changes in the weather. These changes are extremely difficult to predict and this weather variability can be extremely costly. Other atmospheric phenomena, such as hail, snow and fire, previously uncommon in regional climates such as the Mediterranean, are now becoming more common occurrences. That’s why its important to take out a quality home insurance policy. With Linea Directa you are covered for damage by atmospheric phenomena As global climate conditions vary, Linea Directa adapts their home insurance policies to ensure that customers are covered for damage resulting from some types of extreme weather. Linea Directa includes cover for these unpredictable events in their insurance policies. AND THE LOWDOWN ON ALL THE LATEST ONLINE DATING APPS Research shows that January is the most popular time of the year for single men and women to sign up for online dating. Figures suggest that the lull after Christmas and New Year, followed by the marketing of romanticism before Valentine’s Day, may be what spurns people to take action in changing their relationship status. Are you up for trying out the latest online dating tools? Read on to find out…
S
o it’s seems that online dating is still a sizzling hot option for singles. Back in the days when it was all about E-Harmony and RSVP, online dating raised many an eyebrow… but new dating app Tinder has taken the online dating scene to a new level across most major cities in the world. The online dating app launched in August 2012 and was at first seen as ‘superficial’ and ‘vain’ as Tinder matchmaking is primarily about appearance, with only a short tagline under the user’s picture. Take-up was slow but eventually people warmed to the “swipe to like” feature and ease of connecting with people in

whatever area they were in. A cult online dating tool was being born! As one Marbella user affirms, “At the end of the day if you’re not attracted to someone it’s never going to work anyway so why beat around the bush?” For those of you who don’t know what Tinder is - it’s a matchmaking mobile app that uses GPS technology, so users can set a specific radius and they’ll have the option to match up with anyone that’s within that distance. The app is available in 24 different languages and is used by over 10 million people daily, according to recent statistics. Forbes Magazine has indicated the company is worth in excess of $5 billion at the moment. Not too shabby for a toddler of a company. Tinder is open to those aged from 18 to 70, but reports show that at the moment it’s mainly the 18 to 40 year olds who are visiting the site. We took to the streets of Marbella to ask people if they’re using the app, and whether they’ve been on any Tinder dates - disastrous or not.
YOUR STORIES TINDERELLA Carmen, 34 an advertising executive from Benahavis, said, “I’d been single for ages, with all my friends on my
back about how I should be going on more dates, so much easier said than done! It’s difficult to find a guy you might find attractive enough to date when you’re on a night out with your mates. Tinder presented an opportunity to sift through hundreds of pictures of guys in the comfort of my own home, without the stigma of signing up to an internet dating site, and pick out the ones that could be worthwhile considering. It was like being in a bar, but with the advantage of being able to quickly establish whom I fancied without the hassle of having to find out if they’re in a relationship before approaching them. Landing a ‘match’ as well was always fun, it was like scoring points in a game. Before I knew it, I went from cold lonely nights to a hot inbox full of fun conversations with around eight guys I really fancied! Some just wanted to talk and couldn’t seem to take the next step into actually meeting (weird and boring), some just wanted to get in my pants or message inappropriate pictures (obviously idiots) but the rest were actually keen on a date. I spent a fun three weeks dating the guys I did fancy and to be honest it just perked up my confidence a little. I think the psychology of getting
FEATURES back into the dating game must have affected the overall vibes I was giving off and before long it felt like I was surrounded by hot men everywhere I looked! For me it kick-started dating again and opened my eyes up to the fact that there are some good looking single men out there.”
Jay, 28, a racing car driver from Malaga, says he’s looking for hot women to dine out with while enjoying their company. If a relationship forms from this he’d be more than happy to date just one girl. “I’ve met loads of great women on Tinder but I’m still looking for that one special girl to keep.”
Sophie, 28, a waitress from Estepona met a guy on Tinder and chatted for a few days online before they met at a local bar. She reported: “It was great. We got on really well, got really drunk and had a kiss…I can’t remember leaving! He did ask to see me again and although we met up a few times after our first date we are just good friends. I’m in the early stages of a relationship now but would definitely consider using Tinder again if it doesn’t work out.”
Jason, 27, a personal trainer from Marbella, says he doesn’t have time for a relationship or meeting new people and just wants a sexual partner. While this hot-bodied man gets an ‘A’ for honesty, this reminds us of a not-so-nice aspect of online dating: There are those who are merely looking for a casual fling, as opposed to the real thing. So be careful! So it seems that online dating is not all about blissful match-ups. If you’re looking for love and your match is merely out for a good time, things can get tricky. Gotinder.com
TINDERFELLA Adam, 30, from Mijas has a different view: “Now in her Tinder profile, she really wasn’t too bad, wasn’t too hot, but do-able. I pull up to her place to pick her up, and my heart sunk when I actually saw her properly. She had a weird limp and she was very different to her pictures. She was way bigger and not that great to look at. My first reaction was put the car in reverse and peel out of there while I could, but I was frozen. I may be a heartless asshole, but even I’m not mean enough to do that. So she got in the car and I struggled to make some small talk as we drove out into the country to do the deed. It was an incredibly awkward drive, but I eventually found a spot to park and we went for it. I’m not exactly a sex god, but I’m usually not a disappointment in the sack either, but for whatever reason, I came after probably 30 seconds, something I hadn’t done since my first time. At least it was over. Anyway, we had the longest, most awkward car ride back. I dropped

We obviously never spoke again. I’ve had a lot of random hook-ups, but none ever affected me like that. I’ll never do Tinder, never, ever again.”

People weren’t that honest about being on this app when we took to the streets but gave their opinions anyway. Sebastian, 29, from San Pedro said, “I think Grindr is a great app if that’s what you’re looking for.” Charlotte, 34 from Marbella, said, “It’s great for gay people to find likeminded people. I’m glad someone made an app to cater to everyone’s needs.” Grindr.com Rocks Rating:
BADOO Founded by Russian entrepreneur Andrey Andreev, there was a huge amount of hype when this app first launched in 2006. It’s been around the longest and people tend to like it as it doesn’t have to connect with their Facebook account. It also has the largest database of users, with a staggering 228 million people signed up. One downside to this app is that you cannot control the amount of people that can message you. One of our in-house ladies decided to give the app a go and after 3 hours she had over 200 messages and some were quite weird. She decided to reply to a few of the more ‘normal’ messages and ‘chatted’ to a few seemingly nice guys. She decided not to go on any

HINGE Makers of Hinge realised that Tinder works and people like it, but wanted to try and go a bit further instead of matching people purely on appearance. Hinge builds a romance graph using structured data clues to suggest people who will be ‘matched’. While Hinge’s app might not be as carefree and as easy to use as Tinder, where one can swipe through a seemingly endless queue of mates, it does deliver a daily set of tailor-made matches based on your profession, education history and interests, as well who you’ve had the ‘hots’ for in the past. Besides taking data pulled
from Facebook, Hinge suggests users add some extra tags about their religion, ethnicity, favourite date spots and personality. While you don’t need to compose awkward eHarmony-style essays, you should drop in key words so Hinge can send you compatible matches and track what you’re into. You don’t have to come out and say “I only like girls of this ethnicity” or “I only like guys of this religion”, but Hinge can quietly sway your matches that way. Dave, 34, from Nueva Andalucia said, “I like Tinder but Hinge is more specific. I guess it saves me wasting my time talking to a girl that doesn’t like doing the same things as me. At least here I can read about her and decide whether I like her enough to talk to her.” Badoo.com Rocks Rating: Our Team here at Marbella Rocks still think Tinder is the best App with Hinge coming in at second place. So ladies and gents, which way will you be swiping?

The phenomenally successful ‘Fifty Shades of Grey’ hits the silver screen this month, just in time for Valentine’s Day.
N
othing says romance more than a bit of light bondage. This February the 14th you can take your lover to see the film adaptation of the bestselling erotic novel ‘Fifty Shades of Grey’.
Single? No problem. Consider this a gift to yourself. Calvin Klein underwear model Jamie Dornan – known as the ‘golden torso’ - plays the infamous billionaire Christian Grey, and will be getting his kit off for the delight of female viewers.
FIFTY SHADES TAKES THE WORLD BY STORM ‘Fifty Shades of Grey’ broke records when it became the fastest selling paperback of all time. Now the trilogy, dubbed ‘mummy porn’ by the press, has sold more than 100 million copies worldwide and been translated into 52 languages. A survey found that nearly half of women would rather read the kinky book than have sex themselves. So what makes it so popular?
Stepping into the role of naïve student Anastasia Steele, meanwhile, is Dakota Johnson – daughter of famous parents Melanie Griffith and Don Johnson.
There have been many erotic books before, but none have featured a male lead character as charismatic, alluring and downright sexy as Christian Grey.
Author E. L. James, who served as both a writer and producer on the film project, has promised fans that the book’s explicit sex scenes will not be watered down. Those who are easily embarrassed can pick up a Fifty Shades branded blindfold prior to viewing!
Mr Grey has it all: he’s filthy rich, devastatingly handsome, well educated and super ambitious. This is a man who knows exactly what he wants and just how to get it… especially in the bedroom (with the help of a riding crop and some cable

ties!). Another key factor to the book’s appeal is Christian’s pairing with the thoroughly innocent Anastasia. She may be 21, but ‘Ana’ has never been drunk, is still a virgin and has never even ‘explored herself ’ down below. To predatory Christian, Ana is a lamb to the slaughter, but she’s a feisty girl and does not easily submit to his will, further fuelling his passion. ‘Fifty Shade of Grey’ takes readers on a tantalising journey of sadomasochistic sexual discovery, but, handcuffs aside, it is also a classic love story. Although he is tortured by his dark desires, Christian’s devotion to Ana is so strong that he is ultimately prepared to let her go. Show me a girl who could resist?
5 THINGS YOU SHOULD KNOW BEFORE YOU SEE THE FIFTY SHADES OF GREY MOVIE It could spice up your sex life: A survey of married couples conducted in 2013 found two thirds of those who had read ‘Fifty Shades of Grey’ were having better sex. Surprisingly, the racy novel

You won’t get to see Mr Grey’s “considerable length”: I’m sorry to break it to you ladies, but Jamie Dornan will not be showing us all of his, erm, talents when he appears as Christian in the Fifty Shades movie. Despite the fact that Mr Grey’s penis takes a central role in the book, the actor told ‘The Guardian’ it would not be making an appearance.
Meanwhile, 34 per cent of women who had read the book also reported a change in the bedroom, with 50 per cent having more sex, 43 per feeling more comfortable initiating sex and 31 per cent having more conversations about their fantasies and desires. It’s got people hot under the collar: The Fifty Shades movie has some people all worked up, and not for the reasons you might think. Not all fans of the trilogy were happy with the casting. A petition was started asking for Christian and Anastasia to be played by Matt Bomer - known for his role in US police drama ‘White Collar’ - and Alexis Bledel, who rose to fame as Rory Gilmore in ‘Gilmore Girls’. The petition garnered more than 90,000 signatures but the film’s producers refused to budge, stating: “There is a lot that goes into casting that isn’t just looks.” The controversy

Meanwhile, a recent study has concluded that reading the erotic novel could be bad for the health of young women. The study, reported in the ‘Journal of Women’s Health’, found women are more likely to have sex with multiple partners, binge drink, suffer eating disorders and have a lover who verbally abuses them.

“I’m so excited that the toys I described in the books have come to life and can now be enjoyed around the world,” says E. L. James. And you can take your role-play to a whole new level by booking in for a stay at Scottish hotel ‘Nira Caledonia’. The luxury hotel in Edinburgh has launched a ‘Fifty Plaids of Wahay’ package to celebrate the release of the film. The package includes two nights in a Jacuzzi suite, an aphrodisiacal meal, in-room couples’ massage and a black box containing a feather tickler, fluffy handcuffs, and even strawberries dipped in chocolate. The deal is priced €1,255, but if, like Mr Grey, you have cash to splash, you can add on a champagne bath for €2,522 (niracaledonia.com).

Aural Pleasure E. L. James says she wrote the Fifty Shades books while listening to music. One song in particular helped her create the ambience for the sex scenes; ‘Sexy’ by the Black Eyed Peas, however she has made a slightly more refined selection for the official Fifty Shades album. ‘Fifty Shades of Grey: The Classical Album’ features 15 classical pieces that are referenced in the books. Including works such as Tallis Scholars’ ‘Spem in Alium’, ‘Flower Duet’ from Lakmé and Pachelbel’s ‘Canon in D’, it is said to provide the perfect accompaniment to the Fifty Shades reading experience. Available from www.amazon.es for €9.99. Show Your Mettle E. L. James has also endorsed a line of silver jewellery, apparently allowing the wearer to “carry the essence of the story in a chic, secretive accessory”. The collection includes necklaces, bangles and earrings featuring handcuffs, a riding crop, Mr Grey’s silk tie, his helicopter Charlie Tango and the elaborately filigreed key to his handcuffs (and his heart). The range starts from €45, available from www.fiftyshadesofgreyfinejewelry.com.

Amid murmurings and wonderings about such a conservative first name for a tot in this day and age, Cowell was quick to report that Eric is a name of huge significance: it was the name of his father, who died in 1999 from a heart attack. Cowell affirms that the unexpected arrival of the tot was the perfect wake-up call for him. “You can start to live a slightly abnormal life and there is no question of doubt I was heading down that path,” he says. “Too many late-night phone calls. Too obsessed with things.” But the proud pop, who says that he was “born to be a dad”, has admitted that he has not embraced each and every aspect of being a dad. The Sunshine Tour By Alex Weaver
The Sunshine Tour is the biggest and most important winter equestrian competition in Europe. Originally named ‘Circuito Hipico del Sol’, the competition involves both show jumping and dressage. The Tour runs from the last week of February and throughout March with a total of 177 classes being spread over five weeks.
S
ince it began in 1995, people have flocked from over 46 countries to compete at the Dehesa Montenmedio grounds in the Cadiz Province. This year’s competition will see a staggering 1460 horses and 414 riders participating. If you want to get in on the action, Dehesa Montenmedio is only an hour and a half from Marbella and is a hive of activity throughout the Tour.
SUNSHINE TOUR ORIGINS The competition started here as the weather is much milder than anywhere else in Europe, therefore the grounds are in generally in a

better condition and riders can compete in all types of weather, which isn’t snow and rain. The tour is often used for European riders to practise for the rest of the season. Also, many riders use the tour to qualify for international competitions, for example, many jumping classes will be used for riders and horses to qualify for the Adult European Championships, which will be held in Denmark in August. Also the younger classes will be the qualifiers for the Junior Championships, which are also held at Dehesa Montenmedio in July. Not only will riders use these competitions to qualify for European
competitions, they are also a qualifier for international games such as the Olympics. The Sunshine Tour is not only for internationally qualified riders, there are classes that run for all ages and horses. The show jumping competition runs classes which are divided into three categories: Young Horses, Classic Tour and GP Tour. Children aged 12 to 16 are able to compete in the Classic Tour, jumping heights of 1.10m to 1.20m! However it is the GP Tour which sees riders jumping heights up to 1.50m.
FEATURES
The competitions are exhilarating to watch and undoubtedly filled with breathtaking moments. And if thrill-seeking show jumping isn’t for you, the dressage competitions also have a variety of tests, varying from ponies, juniors and young riders to small and big international tours.
SOMETHING FOR EVERYONE The greatest thing about The Sunshine Tour is that there is something for everyone; the facilities are as outstanding as the shows! Dehesa Montenmedio is the most far-reaching equestrian centre. The competition area alone is home to 969 stables, eight grass competition
areas, five all-weather training areas, four restaurants and a large VIP area with views looking over the main competition areas and a large village area, which holds 25 commercial tents. And this is without including the Kurupay area; a place for riders and horses to train. This slightly smaller area still has a staggering 265 stables and four training arenas. It is clearly evident why Dehesa Montenmedio is the home to the biggest winter completion throughout Europe, its extensive facilities not only make it the number one place to train and compete but also a fantastic place for non-riders to visit and watch the shows. Although the price for competitors seems rather extortionate, with GP riders entering for €22,050 the prize money to be won is pretty exciting. The overall prize money that can be won by dressage competitors is €21,150 and if that seems to you a pretty hefty win, you’ll be bowled over when you find out that the total prize money for show jumpers is up to €100,000.

Now, I know I’ve talked a lot about wearing lingerie for yourself. And how lingerie can be about what you want and need and how you feel about yourself. But there are definitely aspects of lingerie that have to do with other people, and the way in which lingerie can be part of a connection between partners should not be overlooked. A question I often hear from people not as enmeshed in lingerie as I am is, “How does wearing lingerie for your boyfriend/girlfriend actually work?” This guide is for those people who want to wear lingerie for a special occasion, but just aren’t sure exactly how to pull it off, in the personal and the practical sense. In this case I’m going to address lingerie in relation to a long-term relationship. Here are my eight tips to bear in mind if you’re going to wear lingerie for yourself and your partner:
CONFIDENCE Wear what makes you feel sexy. The whole point of this adventure is for both you and your partner to have a good time! Confidence is the most important part of this whole experience – and the key ingredient to feeling both beautiful and desirable. If you feel supremely confident, you don’t really even need the rest of these tips, but I know for some people, having lots of ideas and instructions will help bolster lingerie courage.
THE ACT OF DISCOVERY IS SEXY I’m quite fond of wearing lingerie under regular clothes because I love the moment when my partner realises that I’m wearing something a little out of the ordinary. The fact that you look ‘normal’ on the outside and are a lingerie goddess underneath is exciting... and later, the act of undressing becomes more like an adventure. The whole idea of the “plainclothes superhero” is quite a turn-on.
FASHION Clothes that go well over sexy lingerie include structured dresses, pencil skirts and blouses.
SET THE MOOD
If this lingerie unveiling is taking place in your home, take advantage of it. Creating a ‘mood’ can definitely help you feel more comfortable and less awkward. Just wear a robe to answer the door (if you wish to avoid letting your neighbour catch a glimpse) and you can be in charge of exactly how everything goes down, whether it be with mood music, candles or red wine. Alternatively booking a romantic night or weekend away in a hotel for Valentine’s Day could set the mood perfectly.
DON’T RUSH Please don’t dress in a hurry, make sure you have plenty of time to prepare beforehand. Making my partner wait when I’m getting dressed stresses me out – and often lingerie can be a complicated affair. I hate trying desperately to clip my stockings in the bathroom when it just isn’t working. It’s so much nicer to have a calm, meditative dressing-up experience before you see your partner, which just makes you more excited about showing yourself off. Enjoy the ritual.
STEP OUT OF YOUR COMFORT ZONE It’s okay to step out of your comfort zone. This may seem contradictory to tip #1, but it’s not. What I mean is, don’t be afraid to try something exciting or different – wearing lingerie is allowed to be a fantastical experience that
isn’t necessarily grounded in the ‘practical.’ Let your imagination or your desires take you wherever you want to go and there is plenty of room for experimentation.
FORGET THE TRENCHCOAT I view the whole trenchcoat and lingerie as an ‘advanced’ lingerie skill that requires a lot more confidence than might be doable for the lingerie neophyte. Especially because it really only makes sense when the journey is just point A to point B, as the outfit of trenchcoat & lingerie won’t make you feel particularly comfortable if you realise you forgot something and have to drop by the pharmacy or the supermarket. Plus, if you’re feeling nervous, suddenly dropping a trenchcoat to reveal your entire lingerie outfit might make you feel more simply exposed than seductive.
SURPRISE YOURSELF Your partner probably loves any lingerie surprise, but what about surprising yourself? Lingerie is more than just bras and panties. Corsets, garters, teddies, robes, hosiery and slips are all part of the lingerie wardrobe to mix and match to your liking. Lingerie is never limited. Maybe your splurge is one pair of silk panties or a super fluffy robe. No matter how much you spend, buy something that will make you truly excited to wear. Pretty lingerie and intimates is a different vision of beauty for everyone. I personally feel like there is nothing better than having my coffee in the morning in my favourite silk robe.

IT’S ABOUT HAVING FUN If anyone makes you feel like you’re doing the wrong thing or you aren’t completely gorgeous in your lingerie, there is something wrong with them, not you. And if you’re wearing lingerie because you felt pressured into it, that’s a problem too. Only do what makes you feel comfortable, amazing and special - whether that includes lingerie or not, having fun is key to making lingerie work for you.

Healthouse Las Dunas The Perfect Antidote to Christmas
M
ost of us have piled on the pounds over Christmas. Turkey, stuffing, Christmas pudding and a few too many glasses of wine or champagne. By January we are all feeling the pinch, not only to our pockets after all that present buying, but most importantly, to our waistlines. So what if we could visit a five-star health and wellness centre and guarantee to lose 3 kilograms a week, all in the luxury of a typically Andalusian style Hacienda surrounded by sub tropical gardens. Sounds too good to be true? Well it’s not!

GASTRONOMY Part of the Healthouse’s mass appeal is its Michelin starred chef, Andoni Luis Aduriz, who has drafted a staggering menu, which combines eating haute cuisine while concentrating on keeping calorie intake low. In fact one entire days dietary intake contains no more than 1,300 calories. Andoni professes, “We must stop thinking about what not to eat eating and start enjoying what we eat.” To this end, Andoni, originally the chef from Mugaritz, a famous restaurant in Northern Spain with two Michelin stars, has created a diverse menu where a standard
lunch or dinner contains four bountiful courses. The benefit being you are actually allowed to eat a large selection of food and at fairly generous portion sizes. Protein, fresh fruit and salads are de rigueur, carbohydrates are limited. A fibre rich bread roll is allowed on Wednesday and Sundays, where three courses are served. Plus, all the meals are prepared fresh on site according to guests specific dietary needs. For example if

Similarly, guests can opt for AntiStress, Anti-Tobacco or Normal Healthouse low-calorie meals if they have just general healthy eating in mind.

In the last few decades, it was impossible to relate haute cuisine to this concept. Yet, we are now in the early stages of this transformation. Taste and low calories are not incompatible with each other in anyway, what happens is we are changing the rules, he says.
Unsurprisingly for an establishment concentrating on wellness and weight loss, there is no alcohol on the menu. Yet at each lunch or dinner guests can choose from a wide selection of water and fruit infused cocktails that taste simply divine. t’s pointless to deny that many women have been seduced by E.L. James’ passionate ‘Fifty Shades of Grey’ trilogy. We’re eagerly longing for the movie’s premiere on Valentine’s Eve 2015, but while waiting, we all deserve to grasp the New Year by indulging and adding that little extra spark to everyday life. Applying some glam make-up can really boost and lift confidence in a quick turn. Whatever look you’re after: be it a sexy date, a night out with the girls, or even a steamy evening at home, make-up says things about a woman that she usually does not say on her own. Here’s a round-up of gorgeous make-up looks inspired by the ‘Fifty Shades of Grey’ film.
It’s all in the skin A no make-up look shouts out pure innocence and sweetness. There’s nothing sexier than luminous skin. For a look that’s a little softer and sweeter—but still insanely seductive—apply MUF Desire Me Cheek Set luminizing highlighter colour to the highest point of the cheekbones and the inner eye for that healthy glow. Add either, or mix the peachy/rosy colour to the cheeks for a highlighted flush of desire. Finishing off your look with MUF Tease Me Lip Set, apply Agua lip 3C liner over the entire lips and then coat with Lab shine D16.
It’s all in the eyes A dramatic smoky eye makes for a smouldering stare. When creating this look, remember that less is definitely more. The key to an elegant smoky eye is to apply darker eye shadow sparingly; using lighter colours like sultry shades of grey over the lid and keeping the darker black

HAIR & BEAUTY just in the crease. Once this is applied, use a blending brush to smudge and soften the colours. Put a brighter colour, like metallic silver, in the corners of the eyes to widen them. Don’t stop there; give yourself bedroom eyes instantly by smudging black liner across your upper and lower lashlines. Use the same smudging technique with your bottom eyeliner using a cotton swab or a precision eye brush and lightly blend in a nuance of grey shadow on top. Though the focus is on your eyes, you can’t forget about your lips. Go for a nude pout to help your head-turning eyes stand out, or opt for an equally bold lipstick in a shade of a classic or deep red.
It’s all in the lips Bold lips send a ‘kiss me’ message loud and clear. Glossy red lips are maybe the most classic of all passionate beauty looks. But it’s not the only way to score a seductive pout. Opt for a matte red from time to time, adding
a sweep of bronzer to the cheeks and a subtle cat eye to liven up. Feeling adventurous? Try out a vampy look using a deep burgundy lipstick (think shades of bordeaux) MAC’s new Viva shade is a great colour that won’t rub off. Pair dark lips with a flushed cheek, as mentioned above. Absolutely perfect for special occasions! Either way, you can never really go too wrong with a vibrant shade of red lipstick, as long as you are careful to choose one right for your skin tone. Get in the mood to go glam.

HAIR & BEAUTY
The MANE trends for 2015 STRAIGHT TALKING
Senior Hair Technician at Reflections Hair, Nails and Skincare Salon in Marbella trained under the multi-award winning Errol Douglas, MBE. Daniel cut his teeth working on shoots for the likes of Cosmo and Elle, while his Fashion Week experience gave him the skills to tackle any hair type or problem...
This month I am going to be giving you a sneak peek at the hottest new hair trends for the new season. Ladies, you better start growing out your bobs and lobs because long hair is BACK and it’s cooler than ever; think the ‘Black Swan’ actress Mila Kunis or model, Kendall Jenner. Sleek and pinstraight styles with a centre parting were among the most prominent looks from the Spring 2015 shows, so dig out your straightening irons, you’re going to be needing them. I still love GHD Eclipse (€245,00) for achieving this flawless look. Please take note, ratty split ends are a no-no, (yes, I am talking to you Lindsay Lohan,) so I want you all to remember my motto: Length=Strength. The longer you grow your hair, the stronger it needs to be. I always recommend Kérastase Fibre Architecte (€36,20) to any of my clients who are trying to grow their hair. This product reconstructs while intensifying strength from roots to ends. Also, everyone and I mean EVERYONE should have a tube of Kérastase Ciment Thermique (€27,00) in their hair kit. This is definitely my Number One product. It is basically a heat-activated blowdry primer for weakened hair which protects from all styling. A total must-have.
COMING UP SHORT If long hair isn’t for you, then please let me introduce you

ISSUE 03 | MARBELLAROCKS
HAIR & BEAUTY Product-wise Redken Powder Grip (€16,00) gives volume without going crazy, while the hair powder Redken Pillow Proof (€22,20) absorbs oil, extends the life of blow-dries, and instantly refreshes hair, making it perfect for those on the go. Finally, a sea salt spray such as Redken Fashion Waves (€22,20) is an ideal product for those eager to create a more messy WOB, as seen on the likes of Emma Roberts. All Redken Products are 3 for 2 when purchased insalon.
GOING BRONDE to the WOB. The ’wavy bob’ has now topped the ’long bob’ (aka the LOB) as the most sought-after hairstyle. Favoured by the likes of Beyoncé and Taylor Swift, I really adore this look because it’s such a modern take on femininity. My favourite WOB was sported by star of ‘The Hunger Games’, Jennifer Lawrence, who made it her own by adding a bit of bounce and body, creating a more contemporary and youthful look. The WOB would suit someone who prefers low-maintenance styles or who wants a short hair look without the commitment, as it can be grown out quickly.
Okay, before you think I have finally lost my mind let me explain. This is an in-between blonde and brown shade and is totally ‘the new blonde’. Think Miss Minogue and the ever so stylish Sarah Jessica Parker. Not only does bronde flatter everyone, it also has a lifting effect, and we ALL love anything that is anti-ageing, don’t we? This look is all about giving the hair a youthful glow and brightening the skin tone. I like to use bleach very sparingly, preferring natural tints which are very similar to the client’s true colour, while the light reflecting particles leave the hair with an amazing glow. Yum!
Photography: Cinemafestival/ Featureflash / Shutterstock.com
When it comes to styling the WOB, there are a huge variety of options available, from tousled, choppy waves to a more sleek and glamorous curl - and all can be easily achieved with just a handful of tools and products. The first step to any great hair look is making sure it is at its healthiest, but not over conditioned which can weigh it down. New from Kérastase is the Discipline Protocol (€30,00 - €40,00 depending on hair length), an in-salon, non-chemical, hair smoothing treatment designed to restore and repair hair, while making it easier to style and it also reduces frizz. What’s not to love? The results are immediate and blow-drying is much easier, giving you that salon-fresh chic finish at home. I have to say your hair will never have been so well disciplined as after Discipline! DAILY YOGA
30 DAY AB CHALLENGE Available on: Android, iOS
The ‘Daily Yoga’ app offers short yoga and Pilates classes with accompanying music, along with access to a catalogue of different poses and exercise durations. Plus, there are good quality HD videos as well as live voice guidance to ensure you create your yoga moves seamlessly.
THE WALK Available on Android and iOS
Abdominal workouts can be a killer and many gyms offer classes that last between 30 and 40 minutes but what if we could do it all from the comfort of our own homes in a matter of minutes for 30 days? The ‘30 Day Ab Challenge’ increases intensity of workouts slowly so by day 30 you will have reached the hardest workout and have defined abs to match. It offers neat boxes to tick every day to help keep you motivated. Plus you can track your progress and share with friends via Facebook, Twitter and email updates. Suitable for men and women of all ages.
If you’re into a more fun way to exercise, developers have come up with a few more creative options. The Walk, commissioned by the UK NHS and the Department of Health, is an interactive walking game that acts as a pedometer and motivator. Take more steps, and you’ll gradually unlock more chapters of a story about a rogue agents and bombs. The Walk was developed by the creators of another popular story app, Zombies, Run! which turns a daily jog into a race against the undead. Between the two, even the most reluctant exercisers should find enough motivation to get going.

HEALTH & FITNESS
Is Your Training Making you FAT? Happy New Year everyone! If, like millions of other people, you have made a New Year’s resolution to get fitter and leaner, then this article is a great starting point.
I
f you’re tired, fed up and disappointed with the results you’ve been getting from your current workout maybe it’s time to make some changes. For many years doctors and trainers have been telling us that if you want to lose weight then you need to spend at least five hours per week hours doing cardio workouts. BUT what they don’t tell us is by doing hours of cardio, you could be ruining your ability to burn fat and build a lean, sexy body. Excessive daily cardio basically says to your body, “Whoa, hold onto this belly fat. We need it. Burn this muscle instead!” In fact, research shows that treadmills, elliptical machines and stair masters can actually train your body to STORE fat instead of burning it. The latest research, according to a study in the European Journal of Applied Physiology, states: “People who performed intense cardio suffered from decreased T3 hormone production. T3 is the hormone produced by your thyroid to burn fat. When you do cardio, your body is put under immense amount of stress, stress on the joints, and around the heart. The body reacts to the stress by suppressing

this fat burning hormone. This means your body starts gaining fat immediately. Cardio also increases the amount of Cortisol that the body produces. Cortisol is associated with heart disease, cancer and visceral belly fat. That’s the kind of fat that hangs around your waist, hips and bottom, the type of fat that we all train hard to remove.” And, according to a 2011 study in the scientific journal Psychoneuroendocrinology, “Cardio increases the stress hormone cortisol.” Cardio also makes you hungry, after a long run or bike ride the body will crave food, and sometimes we end up eating more food than is required, or even worse, more food than we have burned off during our workout.
you. In my opinion, the best type of exercise is FAST, EFFECTIVE and SAFE. You won’t damage your heart, you won’t age your body, and you’ll lose belly fat faster than ever. Aiming for intense burst of exercise is far more effective than long slow cardio, SO what would make up a good workout? 1. Aiming for intensity every time works well. 2. Add resistance or weights to your workouts, skip the long slow cardio and opt for fast and efficient. 3. Use compound moves (more muscle groups) such as deadlifts, squats, push-ups and burpees.
Another lesser known fact, is that cardio also ages your entire body…
4. Work safely but fast, keep each work out under 40 minutes, post warm-up and stretch.
A recent article in the Journal of Strength and Conditioning Research found that:
The Burpee Challenge
“Cardio causes immense oxidative damage and a flood of free radicals to the body.” Free radicals are molecules that cause rapid aging in your body. During cardio, your body is filled with free radicals that wander around your bloodstream and attack your cells. Not only do free radicals cause damage to all your organs…doing cardio can also damage your skin and make you look older.
This month’s fitness workout is based around the dreaded burpee. Now burpees are feared by most gym goers and not without reason, but what most people don’t realise is how fantastic a conditioning exercise it is.
So all these facts make you wonder what exercise is actually good for
So I have put together a ten-minute challenge. The idea is to select one of the three styles of burpees: Beginner, Intermediate and Bitch Burpees. On from January the third until February the third, I challenge you to attempt the ‘Burpee Challenge’!
HEALTH & FITNESS
By following my plan, you should reignite your drive to get fitter, reduce belly fat (combined with a healthy eating plan) improve your cardiovascular health, and all this by committing yourself to the maximum of a ten-minute workout for five days a week. For videos of the different burpees, please join me on Facebook: ‘jojo’s fitness’ by jojorubyfrance. Full instructions on how to perform each type of burpee will be illustrated. By joining up you will be able to see what other people are doing, feel free to post your scores and comments. I wouldn’t suggest this exercise programme to anyone with problem knees, back issues or shoulder injuries, but check with your GP before starting any new exercise programme, and remember the easiest way of losing fat is to eat healthier and not train more. Good luck with the challenge.... I look forward seeing the amazing results.

Fitness Legend
Kayla Itsines Reveals All Her By Secrets Michelle Ganney Kayla Itsines is taking the fitness world by storm. I had the pleasure of talking to the 23 year-old Aussie beauty about her phenomenal fitness programme, where she revealed some of her health and fitness secrets. Kayla embarked on a personal training course at the Australian Institute of Fitness in 2008, securing a job immediately after graduation. This experience evolved into her very own venture, where her iconic Bikini Body Guide was created!
K
Kayla has been an inspiration and is an influential healthy role model to all women. It is evident from her toned biceps, her sculpted quads and her chiseled abs that her programme works - definitely a worthwhile investment this winter!
A day in the life of Kayla
ayla’s real passion began with sport, “my love of sport and basketball lead me to Personal Training, and that’s when I discovered how much I loved helping people to become healthier and happier! I have never looked back since, for me it was a great life changing decision. I wouldn’t trade it for anything in the world”.
Breakfast
Toast with poached eggs, avocado, tomato and spinach, plus a cup of herbal tea
After morning snack
One piece of fruit
Lunch
Chicken yiros wrap with homemade tzatziki, lettuce, tomato and onion
This fitness guru has become an Internet sensation thanks to her intense yet rewarding workout guide. Her health and fitness programme is adored by thousands of women and her Instagram page is inundated with her clients’ genuine inspirational transformations! With more than 1m followers, her guide is soaring with popularity. Kayla’s goal was to create something unique, which is where she created her eBook Bikini Body Guide. “The three weekly resistance workouts go for 28 minutes, require minimal equipment and can be used by almost all fitness levels”.
Afternoon snack
Tuna salad & a piece of fruit
Dinner
Avgolemono, a fluffy lemon & rice soup with Chicken - her absolute favourite!
Evening
She swears by a peppermint or chamomile tea in the evening
Despite her programme being labeled a ‘Bikini’ Body guide, Kayla was quick to point out some amazing tips for the colder winter months, as it’s getting chillier in Adelaide too - well at least by Australian standards! The message she wants to convey is that women have to feel confident, happy and healthy in their bodies continuously - not just on the beach! Consequently, she swears by warming up before exercise, especially during the winter chill! ”Warming up before a workout is vital, particularly in winter weather. This is because your body can be more injury prone as your muscles may be tighter if they aren’t warmed up! A slow jog or a fast paced walk for around 5 minutes is recommended prior to starting your high intensity workout”.

This is perfect in the colder months as it gets your blood pumping. “Throw on some gloves, a beanie and a scarf and brave the weather. How great is that - you can catch up on all of the latest news with your friends and burn calories at the same time!”
Winter Sport!
If you’re lacking in motivation, Kayla insists you join a sporting team with a friend. “Playing a winter sport is the perfect opportunity to keep fit and active during winter whilst being social at the same time!”
Parks!
Kayla advises you to find a local park, as this is a great space to workout in. “You can use any stable benches or elevated surfaces for exercises like tricep dips, knee ups and step ups. You can always invest in a skipping rope and an exercise mat for some more ideas!

by: Anita Pouroulis Do you often feel bloated? Do you lack energy? Is your skin dry or dull? Are you carrying excess kilos? Do you have food cravings? Do you have cellulite? Have you ever suffered from IBS? Are you often irritable or stressed out?

ccording to the author of the flyer, Juice-Mad Jo, if I embarked on something called the ‘Raw Juice Cleanse’, I’d be well on the path to ridding my body of these ailments. This basically meant giving up food for three or four days, and drinking only raw fruit and vegetable juices in order to reboot my system.
“YES!!!!!!!” I shouted at the innocuous flyer that seemed to be firing these questions at me, as it lay against the windshield of my car. If I turned the paper over, would I find the magic solution to all these problems? Apparently, yes. Curious to know how it went? Read on below for a concise review of our three days of juicing:
Day 1
I took a deep breath, roped my husband into doing it with me, so I wouldn’t have to suffer alone, and gave Juice-Mad Jo a call. By the next day, our fridge was stocked with 24 bottles of juice in total, four each for three days. They were quite pleasing to the eye, lined up like healthy little soldiers, in their bright hues of red, orange and green. We were all set for our juice cleanse.
MARBELLAROCKS || ISSUE ISSUE 02 07 86 07 84 MARBELLAROCKS
9am: You start your day with a juice. Our very first juice was a bright orange, happy-looking, cleansing juice, which contained apple, carrot, celery, ginger and red pepper. It actually tasted quite delicious. However, after that went down, I began craving my usual hot, Brazilian coffee and chunky oatmeal rusks, which are my usual reward for waking up. 12 pm: This is when you have your second juice of the day. Read: This is your LUNCH. Ours was another bright orange juice. I felt quite unsatisfied slurping my ‘lunch’ instead of chewing something solid and substantial. My husband felt the same way. I began to think about
cheating at this point, using my issue of low blood sugar as an excuse. But, for some reason I soldiered on, bravely. 3pm: You get to quaff your secondlast juice of the day in the mid afternoon. This juice was of a dark green hue, not too dissimilar to a stagnant pool of algae. Jo’s notes informed us that it was her ‘fully loaded’ number, crammed with all the greens, plus wheatgrass, spirulina and acidophilus biffidus (and no, that’s not algae – it’s good bacteria for your digestion). My husband and
HEALTH & FITNESS I gulped, expecting the worst, but we were pleasantly surprised. It was actually very tasty. But I have to admit that I was thinking about a hot cup of tea and the biggest slice of cheesecake as this one went down. 6-7pm: Your last juice of the day. Read: this is DINNER, so make the most of it. Our last juice was another dark green ‘fully loaded’ one. At this point we were both in the mood for chomping on a juicy steak and killing each other. My head was throbbing and I was edgy. I sat in the bathroom as my daughter ate dinner. My husband was in no mood for small talk. We both went to bed early.
Day 2 9am: I woke up feeling extremely irritable. My head was sore and my sinuses were blocked. Thoughts of having to go another full day without eating (or drinking coffee!!!) had draped themselves around me like a veil of gloom. My cantankerous husband complained of a sore head and smelly breath. Today we were allowed to have our two dark green juices and our two light green juices in any order we wanted. A bit of free choice was being offered to us. Yay. My husband and I glared at each other and both reached for an unknown light green,
Day 3
to spice up our lives a bit. This juice was imbued with apple, avocado, celery, cucumber, green pepper, ginger, lemon and spinach. This juice tasted incredible. As a lover of avocado, this was my absolute favourite so far. 12pm: I was dying to have another light green juice but decided to leave it for later and had a dark green one instead. At this point, I was realising the benefit of drinking slowly and savouring the taste of each juice, if only to create the feeling of having a ‘meal’. But I still felt like dunking my favourite rusks in a huge mug of coffee and my head was still sore. 3pm: I greeted my next light green juice with great enthusiasm and savoured every drop. After I drank the juice I realised that I was beginning to feel a bit better. My head felt a bit lighter and my sinuses weren’t too bad. But more importantly, I wasn’t edgy and not hungry! 6-7 pm: Another dark green juice for dinner. Tonight I didn’t mind being near my daughter while she ate. I didn’t feel tempted by her chicken and pasta dish, and had even managed to prepare it myself without secretly scoffing bits on the side. We managed to watch a whole movie together; an unexpected boon of not cooking and consuming a full dinner was extra leisure time.
9am: I woke up feeling quite good. I wasn’t hungry at all and was getting into the rhythm of juicing. Today’s menu consisted of two dark green juices and two purple juices. We both chose purple, which was made from apple, beetroot, carrot, celery, cucumber, green pepper, ginger, lemon and spinach. The juice was tasty and my husband smiled at me. 12pm: Dark green juice for lunch. I was feeling energetic and quite clearheaded. My husband had had a very productive morning at the office. We even made small talk over our dark green juice.
3pm: Another purple juice, which we savoured and enjoyed to the last drop. We both felt good and our bodies felt light. I was wearing a pair of skinny jeans and noted that my usually convex stomach was actually flat. I was no longer bloated. My husband went for a run. 6-7pm: The last juice of the day. We both enjoyed it and wondered what we were going to eat tomorrow, since we were going to be travelling to London.

HEALTH & FITNESS
Day 4 Believe it nor not, I woke up feeling disappointed that we weren’t going to be juicing another day! I felt as if I could manage one more quite easily. My husband felt the same way. Although Jo suggests that you try and complete four days of juicing, we’d decided on three, due to a business trip. But even doing three days of juicing had left us feeling light, healthy, energised and clearheaded. The problem with going straight back into ‘normal’ life though, is that you must take it slowly. Neither of us felt particularly hungry, and the fruit we ate for breakfast lasted us well into the early afternoon. This is unusual for me with my low blood sugar, as I normally ‘need’ to snack all the time. I can only put it down to the fill of nutrients I’d had over the past three days. I thought a meal of sushi would be perfect for lunch since sushi is light, but I was wrong, as I had really bad stomach ache thereafter. My husband was more careful, sticking to a simple salad.
This is Juice-Mad Jo’s Story: A friend had been to a juice retreat for a week and came back with a juicer, a blender a masticator for wheatgrass and numerous books; the only problem was he couldn’t be bothered to juice for himself, saying he didn’t have the time. So he asked me if I would juice for him for a week. I looked at the week’s juice plan and was quite taken aback at how many different juices I had to do. Anyway, I decided to do it. Now, at this time I had been to the doctor with bloated stomach issues. I was also suffering from excess weight gain even though I was going to gym, eating rather healthy and didn’t touch alcohol. My skin was dry and I just didn’t feel right. I also was not happy with what looked back at me from the mirror. My doctor said it was my age and unless I went on prescribed drugs there was not a lot I could do that I wasn’t already doing; ie: eating healthy and exercising. So my friend and I started our “No Food, Just Juice” week. I must say the only day it really got to me and I wanted to eat was the

second day. I also had a headache, but as this was my body ridding itself of those nasty toxins, I didn’t really mind. I drank more water and herbal tea and reminded myself this was only for a few more days. As the third day dawned, I felt my body had rid itself of the bloated feeling. I felt light, slimmer and stronger. I walked stronger and taller. My skin even had a glow and a clean feel to it. I felt happier, my mind was alert, I was having eight hours sleep and waking totally refreshed. By the fourth and fifth days, I loved how I felt, and on the sixth day I decided this was going to be my new venture because I was literally ‘Juice Mad’! I wanted to juice for others to help them become happier and healthier from within. So that’s Juice-Mad Jo’s story. You’ve heard mine and there are many, many more to be told. However, after experiencing this ‘juicing joy’, and melting back into my real life of coffee, bread, chocolates and wine, I wondered how to blend juicing with my love of life and good food. I asked Jo this important question when I spoke to her. Jo, like me, loves food and enjoys eating out. So she has constructed a framework for herself, which she tries to stick to as much as possible.
HEALTH & FITNESS
Her plan goes as follows: Once a season, she juices, without eating for five days. Three days a month she juices, without eating. One day a week she juices without eating. Each day she has one juice, yet eats normally.
What Else Can Juicing Do For You? Juicing… Gets you to understand how powerful the romance of unhealthy foods is. Breaks the cycle of dependence on comfort foods and snacking. This helps in the changing of bad eating habits. Reduces the appetite. Although juicing doesn’t shrink the stomach, after a while, it feels like it does, as you are not continually hungry. Gives your stomach a rest. Juice doesn’t requires as much of the stomach’s digestive process (churning, acid and pepsin) as solid food does. Helps repair the gut. Toxic foods (including saturated fats, refined carbs, foods with additives, pesticides and allergenic foods) can impair the intestine’s functioning. Consuming a nutrient-dense juice
diet allows food to be assimilated quickly through the intestine, thus giving it a rest, while the nutrients and antioxidants help in sorting out intestinal issues. Lets the liver rest a bit too. The liver is our main detoxifying organ. Since our diets are usually loaded with toxins, the liver is constantly working and detoxifying before nutrients go further in the body. Healthy, toxin-free juice lets the liver breath a sigh of relief… and rest. Floods our body with nutrition. The goodness of all the rawness provides nutrients that are often lost during cooking, or just not eaten at all. Helps to shed weight. A juice cleanse (three days minimum) is a great way to jumpstart a diet. Juicing for a bit longer will definitely result in weight loss, as juice is low in calories and full of nutrition. Improves energy levels and mental clarity. Since your body is getting a concentration of energizing and healing nutrients, your energy levels soar, and you can feel mentally sharper. Reduces physical problems and helps in detoxification. Many chronic symptoms such as headaches, rashes, general aches and congestion can be due to our bodies fighting off the harmful things we put into it. Juicing provides us with nutrientdense foods, giving the body the resources it needs to help remove cumulative toxins.
most whole fruits or vegetables and add water if it becomes too thick. Juice fundis will tell you, though, that it’s best to get a proper juicer. There are two types: centrifugal and masticating. If you’re going to go and buy yourself a juicer, then rather go for the masticating one, as with this one, more of the nutrients are kept intact. Centrifugal juicers operate at very high speeds, while masticating juicers run at very slow speeds. High speed means heat and a less thorough extraction of juice while masticating is a slow and more thorough way to extract juice and nutrients from fruits and veggies. (Worth Remembering: Juicing is not for everyone. Check with a doctor first, especially those who are pregnant, underweight, diabetic, have unstable heart disease or low blood pressure, or who have lifethreatening health challenges.) Juice-Mad Jo can be found at: www.juice-mad.com. She also tailor-makes juices for your requirements.
Can You Make The Juice Yourself? Absolutely. It’s not that hard. You may not need a juicing machine. You can use a blender for

ucked away at the top of a mountain in Casares, ‘Venta Garcia’ is an Ibizan-inspired villa steeped in history, yet at the same time modernised, so you have antiquity and luxury in one visit. You can choose to eat out on the terrace, conservatory or main indoor restaurant. All the dining areas have enormous windows so you enjoy totally unspoilt views of the beautiful Casares countryside. There is also a calm and serene atmosphere to match. You must arrive early as there is a fantastic bar with lowlevel seating and chill-out music with which to enjoy ‘Venta Garcia’’s wide selection of cocktails or wines before dining. The staff are friendly and attentive without being overbearing. If you are lucky enough to meet Jesus, the owner, you are in for a treat. He is funny, charismatic and welcoming all at once. He laughs and jokes with his customers and makes you feel completely at home. Not surpassing the location and atmosphere, the food is also to die for. Rich, yet healthy mountain food, in generous portions with sides of fresh vegetables to accompany. Try the leg of lamb or chicken cooked ‘Mama style’. There is also a vast selection of fresh fish available such as the scallops and skewer of monkfish with lime sauce, as well as pasta, risotto and soups if you want to try something different. If you want to go for a lighter option the goat’s cheese and avocado salad is fantastic. One of the best dishes has to be the starter of prawns wrapped in filo pastry with fresh basil. You can choose from

an orange marmalade or peanut dipping sauce. Can’t decide? Then go for the mezze of tapas sharing platter. If you have room for dessert we highly recommend the hot chocolate fondant with ice cream or apple crumble. And as always ‘Venta Garcia’ treats its guests to a drink on the house at the end of the evening and you are encouraged to enjoy this at your table or move to the bar afterwards. Children are also welcome here with special childfriendly dishes, including meatballs and chicken croquettes they’ll love. There is definitely a complete mix of clientele here from all nationalities, ages and walks of life - which in our opinion makes ‘Venta Garcia’ even more appealing. Another main reason for this restaurant’s enduring success has to be its history. Run by Jesus’ family for over 50 years, and apart from the interior, white-walled makeover in 2005, the restaurant hasn’t really changed over time. If anything it has got better and better according to its faithful regulars. Which brings us to another point. Despite its capacity of 90 sit-downs, you’d be well advised to make a reservation here in the busy summer months as this has been and will continue to be one of the most popular location restaurants on the Costa del Sol. Jesus never advertises: “There is no need to,” he says. Luckily Marbella Rocks has brought this wonderful Casares secret to your attention.

CAREERS
DARE TO DREAM How to Discover the Dream Career Path For You We all have dreams, but for many they remain clouded by fear, negative beliefs and conditioned expectations. Sometimes we have to realise that in order to get to that peak of success, achievement and happiness, we have to face our fears, ignore ingrained negative beliefs and stand up to conditioned expectations. It may be that a personal life tragedy or trauma triggers an awakening of a deep passion or meaningful purpose, but sometimes a simple change in perception, inspired by a friend, is all that is needed to realise that a dream is already in the making. We have a choice: we can wait for life to force us to see what truly matters or we can summon the courage to awaken our dreams and set them free.
T
o ignite inspiration or unveil a path of passion, meaning and purpose, listen to your
soul:
• What do you routinely say that you will do ‘someday’?
MARBELLAROCKS || ISSUE ISSUE07 07 104 MARBELLAROCKS
• What have you always wanted to be? • When have you really enjoyed your work and what talents are you relying on and using in these situations? • What do you love to do when all your work is done? • For what would you take a very strong stand? • “The way to find out about your happiness,” said renowned mythology scholar Joseph Campbell, “is to keep your mind on those moments when you feel most happy, when you are really happy – not excited, not just thrilled, but deeply happy.” What in your current life brings deep happiness? • When you achieve your current objective, what do you hope it will enable you to do? Sometimes, to see our dream, we need to remove the obstacles that cloud our vision:
FEARS Fears can prevent us from seeing who we really are and what we truly
want in life. It may be a fear of the unknown, fear of change or fear that if we choose another path at this point in life, then everything up to this point has been wasted. • Have you decided that “this is the way the world is”? Is this belief working for you? • If you had the courage to face your fears and peer through the clouds, what might you allow yourself to see, in your dreams? • What is the scariest thing about pursuing your dream?
EXPECTATIONS Who is the source of your dream? Do you feel pushed into a job, career or routine by other people? Are you forcing yourself to be someone you’re not? What are your expectations and where do they come from? If you were to let go of the expectations of others, some of which may be only your perception, then who would you be, what would you do, and how would you choose to live?
CAREERS Sometimes, recognising our core values helps us determine our true dream: Values represent our deepest desires: what we choose to stand up for, how we live and the legacies we wish to leave to the world. Read through this list of values and then list them in your order or priority:
• Now draw another six stars and repeat the exercise. • Draw until you have up to 100 stars and 100 insights about what you want. • Draw a line from the circle to one star that you would love to aim for and consider the steps needed to get there. You Can Choose to Listen to Your Heart - What do you care about? What image, cause or issue makes you want to put your heart and soul into supporting and contributing to its development?
• Happiness • Love • Gratitude • Success • Independence • Resilience • Leadership • Advancement • Wealth • Power • Forgiveness • Freedom • Peace • Justice • Joy • Excellence • Harmony • Growth
You Can Choose to Be Strong When you can see the negative thoughts that play alongside your dreams and desires, you empower yourself with a choice - to choose to give them power, or to choose to ignore them and continue in pursuit of what really matters.
YOU CAN INSPIRE YOURSELF Draw a circle. The circle is your life. • Outside the circle draw six stars – these are stars of inspiration to help illuminate your inner most wishes, passions and dreams. • Close your eyes and allow each star to reveal your dreams
Don’t be Afraid to Fail - It can seem safer to have a dream and hope that one day it might be accomplished; to live in hope, rather than to face the fear of pursuing something that really matters, only to face potential failure. Don’t give up before you have given yourself a chance. Don’t create regrets for your future. You Can Choose to Embrace Change –Dr. Bourg Carter, (High Octane Women: How Super Achievers Can Avoid Burnout), says, ‘It’s easy to get side-tracked by “what-ifs.” Like
“What if I fail?” “What if I can’t do this?” “What if I do this and don’t like it?” But living a life of “what-ifs” can be crippling. Not only that, it’s not possible to live and not change. Change is constantly happening within us and around us. In fact, change is the foundation of life as we know it...Without change, we become stagnant. We don’t grow personally or professionally. So why not embrace it?’
YOU CAN BRING YOUR DREAM TO LIFE What is your dream today? Answering hypothetical questions can give you insight into your true motivation. What would your dream be if: • You suddenly became a billionaire? • You had every skill available at your disposal to do anything? • You already had everything you wanted? • You had to return to college to get a four-year degree? • You had six months to live? • You had a genie granting you three wishes? Knowing what you want is half the challenge. Bringing it to life is simple. All it takes is seeing and taking a single step, then another and another. What is your the first step?

film ‘The Prince of Egypt’, which premiered on 3rd December in London’s cinema hotspot, Leicester Square. This rendition took a much darker turn with the defiant Moses rising up against his brother, Pharaoh Ramses, in order to take 600,000 slaves on an epic journey to escape the deadly plagues and Egypt. Played by the multi-talented actor Christian Bale and former Batman legend, it was a tense two hours of this warped yet extraordinary biblical story.

Angelo Sosa, renowned Latino chef, revealed some of his postChristmas treats after the hectic festive holidays. In the seventh season of Top Chef, Sosa was the popular runner up. “Top chef was one of the most challenging things I’ve ever done in my life” he was quoted as saying. Since then his career has gone from strength to strength. Speaking candidly to me about his love of food, Sosa announced the launch of his new cookbook, ‘Healthy Latin Eating’, which is due to be released on January 2nd 2015. He explained how healthy eating doesn’t have to be bland and boring and how spice is his weapon of choice in the kitchen. “I consider myself a spice expert.” His favourite spice is ‘fenugreek’ which is indigenous to Middle East India. “This aromatic Mediterranean plant has a strong aroma but toasted correctly is absolutely beautiful”

ASTROLOGY
MARBELLA ROCKS ASTROLOGY FORECAST JANUARY/FEBRUARY 2015
Aries
Gemini
Leo
You’re making every effort to be amenable and to keep the peace, but others may just seem determined to push your buttons or go out of their way to test you. Try not to let unpleasant behaviour cause you to lose your cool. The New Year may feel like someone hit the ‘rewind’ button as people from your past - even past lovers - reappear. If this is the case, ask if you want history to repeat itself or if allowing them back into your life means you can bring about a new beginning. Don’t let sentiment cloud your judgement now as this month is trying to offer a fresh start, especially around your key goals. Bear in mind that replaying or reliving the past stops us from stepping into a better future. Look forward now, not back.
A missed opportunity could return now - perhaps even the ‘one that got away’. If travelling, you need to allow plenty of time to get to your destination and check all connections and reservations in advance, as chaos and delays can and will occur. Success could be within your grasp but you need to be completely clear about what it is you want to achieve now. Don’t take refuge in escapism - you need to understand the difference between going towards something and fleeing from something else. If you haven’t been watching your budget recently you could be facing a financial crisis or two. Don’t resort to escapism there either - open those statements and bills and come up with a realistic spending plan. Being in the black is back for 2015.
Love, passion and partnerships dominate your thoughts now and some of you may even hear from that ‘blast from the past’. If things have not been going well between you and your significant other, you’ve got the skills to smooth things over, or at the very least, bring things to an amicable conclusion. Singles could enjoy more than one flirtation and there’s the promise of more to come. However, something you hear about someone could cause you to seriously reevaluate your opinion of them, or even your entire relationship, especially if you discover they have been keeping something from you. You need people around you that you can rely on to behave with integrity. Don’t accept anything less.
Taurus
Cancer
Virgo
You begin 2015 with a new determination when it comes to goal-getting ambition, Taurus. However, when it comes to relationships, a different approach may be in order especially if you have been calling the shots too frequently or clinging onto rigid ideas about how relationships ‘should’ be or what your ‘ideal’ partner looks like. When we let go of these kinds of thoughts, we open the way for the universe to send us something far better than we can have possibly imagined for ourselves. Dare you do this now? Elsewhere, new career opportunities beckon if you are ready for more responsibility. Singles may snag the interest of someone successful or someone who just boosts their mojo in some way. Is he/she really going out with him/ her? You bet.
Emotional endings could take place early in 2015, or you may find yourself involved in arguments or negotiations involving money, your salary, or something you share with a partner. If it feels as if things are falling apart, this may not be the case, as what is happening is that a cycle is being completed now with new beginnings to follow. Whatever comes to an end or fruition now is designed to clear the way for this to occur. Try to keep emotions out of money matters or business dealings. The end of January should bring a sense of renewed optimism and freedom and someone could just appear who embodies this feeling as you begin to see the adventure is far from over.
Friends may not behave the way you expected, or social encounters may leave you feeling unsettled at the start of 2015. As a result you may choose to put your energy into work and if so, you’ll quickly discover you’ve made the right choice. Good news around a job, a project or pay rise could be on its way but just ensure you don’t get distracted from the job at hand. It’s important to stay focused - especially on the details – and if you do, you could reap the rewards now. When it comes to romance you won’t hold back from letting someone know how you feel just guard against wearing your heart on your sleeve. Sometimes it’s good to cultivate an air of mystery - and remember: some things are worth waiting for.

You could be starting the New Year on a romantic note, Libra and if there’s no one currently on your mind or on the scene that could be about to change. You’ll also have the passion to push through with work and business plans, as well as with any creative projects you’ve been nurturing. Expect to find yourself in the spotlight in some way and you’ll make your best impression, whether you’re meeting someone for personal or professional reasons, so ensure you’re looking and feeling your best. Old flames could be rekindled now or an opportunity you missed out on or passed up could reappear. If so, don’t let it slip through your fingers a second time. New love could have a distinctly different flavour to it expand your taste.
Something comes fullcircle and it’s now time to put the finishing touches to any projects that have been left over from 2014. You’ve entered one of the best periods of the year to look for that new job or launch that creative or business idea, so ensure you take advantage of this. People from your past, including lovers or even old school friends could be in touch, so expect a slew of phone calls, messages and emails to answer. If you keep in touch with others, they will keep in touch with you. Check the small print in any important papers you are signing. If romance is on your mind you’ll be pleasantly surprised by the arrival of a kindred spirit - opposites may attract but sometimes we have more fun with someone just like us.

2015 could see a move for many phoenixes and you may well be starting the New Year with thoughts around your living arrangements or lifestyle in general. A few big decisions may be made and each one is designed to improve your overall sense of security so make sure you think in the long term. By the beginning of February you should be in a position where you have established something for the future - even if it’s just a sense of knowing where you’re going to be hanging your hat for the long term. As February rocks in, your thoughts are on more immediate gratification as someone new could have you in a passionate tailspin. One thing’s for certain - you won’t let anything come between you and who or what you want.
Are you letting other people determine your self-worth, Capricorn? Do you value yourself based on what you earn or whether you are coupled up or not? Time for a self-esteem upgrade if that’s the case as this month will reflect your inner values in some way. Bank account and ego-boosting events could occur if you are clear about your inner values. People will treat or value you based on the value you put on yourself. For some this will be a time of rewards and validation but if this is not forthcoming or falls short of your expectations, then look within and not without for an explanation. It’s time to say what’s on your mind and not hold back for fear of how others may react. Walk your talk and speak your truth now.
You begin the New Year eager for change and may even initiate some that are long overdue. Don’t, however, throw the baby out with the bathwater just because you feel restricted in some way. Take some time to think things through. New information may come to light regarding a situation at work and again, you need to step back and gather the facts before acting. Things may not be as they first appear. Your intuition will guide you here as it is at a peak and whatever you do - don’t ignore what it’s saying. However, if someone has been misleading you or pulling the wool over your eyes, you will not be able to let it slide and others may see a side of you which rarely emerges. There’s no secret you can’t fathom now.
partnerships and close connections now and determining if they provide you with the emotional support you need. Whatever comes up short in your life - you won’t wait around for it to come to you or Santa to deliver it. You’ll be out looking for it and if it’s love you seek to explore - every possible avenue can connect to it now. At the very least all of you should be on the receiving end of a few invitations. It’s time to showcase your talents and embrace innovation in all areas of your life - especially at work. Any lingering problems require a different approach to what you’ve taken in the past. Love or a significant new friendship could begin at an unusual venue or event or with someone very different who crosses your path. Embrace the new - literally and figuratively now.

Each month Marbella Rocks will be quick firing questions at unsuspecting famous Marbella faces. This month we’ve been quizzing Sandro Morelli, the charismatic owner of Italian restaurant, Villa Tiberio.
How long have you been in the restaurant business: Almost 40 years. Since I owned Barbarella in London in 1976 to opening Villa Tiberio 25 years ago. Best thing about being running your own restaurant: A wealthy man likes his beautiful home and wants his friends to come round. The difference is people come to my beautiful home and they pay me – it’s paradise! You’re known for your extensive charity work, tell our readers why this is so important to you: Every day a child dies of starvation. I try my best to help. In the last seven years I’ve raised a quarter of a million for children’s charities. A lot of famous faces have visited Villa Tiberio, who were the most memorable and why: Prince Rainier of Monaco and Sean Connery - both very special people – warm, kind and friendly. Worst thing: Finding the right staff – we are an international restaurant so we not only need multi-lingual staff but also staff that appreciate that culture of food that is needed. Favourite dish on your menu: Linguine with fresh lobster and cherry tomato sauce.
If you weren’t in the restaurant business you’d be: Any business that helps children in the world. Greatest achievement: When I bought my mother a house in Naples and when my sons were born.
