KRISTEN & ALICIA
Kristen Stewart is dating her personal assistant Alicia Cargile. After months of speculation Kristen´s mum finally broke the news to US Weekly. “I’ve met Kristen’s new girlfriend and I like her,” Jules Stewart said in an interview with the US mag. “What’s not to accept? She’s a lovely girl.” She continued, “I feel like people need to be free to love whoever they want. I accept my daughter loves women and men. It’s OK to be who
you are in my world. We all choose our friends so we should be free to choose our lovers.” Paparazzi photos of Stewart and Cargile together sparked dating rumours as early as last September, but Kristen´s mums comments are the first confirmation of the relationship. Kristen has previously had a four year relationship with Twilight co-star Robert Pattinson.
MILEY & STELLA
Miley Cyrus has reportedly found romance with Victoria´s Secret model Stella Maxwell. The pair were seen getting very friendly in New York last month, just days after Miley admitted to being bisexual in an interview. Stella and Miley have been jetsetting around the world together for the past few months with trips to
Las Vegas and the famous South by Southwest festival in Texas. Both their social media accounts show images of them getting very up close and personal! Miley was previously engaged to Hunger Games actor Liam Hemsworth and dated Patrick Schwarzenegger for five months until they split in April this year.

RITA JUMPS SHIP
Rita Ora is deflecting to the X Factor after her first stint on The Voice, in a deal reportedly netting the singer a cool 1.5 million. The final X Factor line-up was announced last month as Nick Grimshaw was also announced as replacing veteran judge Louis Walsh, alongside music mogul Simon Cowell and Cheryl Fernadez-Versini. Rita´s decision to move to the rival ITV1 singing show has sparked media controversy. Critics have blasted her for leaving the BBC One show in the lurch, saying she is just doing it for the money. However, Rita has defended her decision by saying as she was originally a guest judge on the 2012 version of X Factor and she is going “home” and it is more fitting for her as she is about to release a new album and “the timing seemed right”.

Cara Delevingne has spoken out about her privileged but troubled upbringing that drove her to self-harm as a teenager. The 22 year-old model and actress described how she would scratch herself, hit her head against trees and even contemplated taking her own life at her lowest point. Her mother Pandoras addiction to heroine, her sexuality and the fact she had to grow up too quickly were cited as reasons for her self-harming. Speaking to US Vogue, Cara revealed, “This is something I haven’t been open about, but it’s a huge part of who I am.” Cara is now proud to be gay and is currently dating musician St Vincent, 32, real name Annie Clark, and credits her with bringing contentment to her life. “Being in love with my girlfriend is a big part of why I’m feeling so happy with who I am these days,” she said.

When she married Rock in 1996, she left her career to be a stay-at-home mother shortly afterward. Their kids, Lola Simone, 13, and Zahra Savannah, 11, take up much of her time. When she is not running the charity circuit, she runs a group called The Angel Rock Project. Rock filed for divorce from Malaak in December last year after reports he was seeing his Top Five co-star Rosario Dawson.
KIM´S SPELLING GAFFE
Kim Kardashian, better known for her beauty than her brains, has received flack after making a spelling gaffe on Twitter. The reality TV star tweeted out a plea to famed designer Giorgio Armani to bring back a type of foundation that was discontinued. Unfortunately, Kardashian misspelled the fashion icon’s name, earning her some heat from the brand’s Twitter account, who publicly corrected her spelling of the designer´s name. “Dear Kim - let us know which one you need and we’ll send it to you. And Mr. Armani’s first name is Giorgio,” Armani posted. Spelling errors happen to the best of us, however when it happens on social media with an audience of 35 million followers things do get a bit embarrassing!

RECIPE
If you’re anything like the Marbella Rocks team to really appreciate your nights out there’s nothing quite like a relaxing night in. Cue DVD, dinner and a good bottle of wine. Here’s a rundown and recipe for a quality night in.
GOURMET MUSHROOM RISOTTO Recreate this authentic Italian recipe the slow but effective way to make it al dente with plenty of flavour and bite. For those meat lovers out there, simply add strips of chicken to Step 4 of the recipe.
INGREDIENTS
(makes 6 portions) ● 6 cups chicken stock ● 3 tablespoons olive oil ●1 pound portobello mushrooms, thinly sliced ●1 pound white mushrooms, thinly sliced ● 2 shallots, diced ● 1 1/2 cups Arborio rice ● 1/2 cup dry white wine ● sea salt to taste ● f reshly ground black pepper to taste ●3 tablespoons finely chopped chives ● 4 tablespoons butter ●1 /3 cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese
DIRECTIONS 1. In a saucepan, warm the stock over a low heat.
2. Warm 2 tablespoons of olive
oil in a large saucepan over a medium-high heat. 3. Stir in the mushrooms, and cook for about 3 minutes, until soft. Remove mushrooms and their liquid, and set aside. 4. Add 1 tablespoon of olive oil and stir in the shallots. Cook for 1 minute. Add rice, stirring to coat with oil for about 2 minutes. When the rice has taken on a pale, golden colour, pour in the wine, stirring constantly until the wine is fully absorbed. 5. Add 1/2 cup stock to the rice and stir until the stock is absorbed. Continue adding 1/2 cup at a time, stirring continuously until the liquid is absorbed and the rice is al dente, roughly about 15 to 20 minutes. 6. Remove from the heat, stir in the mushrooms with their liquid, butter, chives and parmesan. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
WINE MATCH When talking about matching a wine with risotto there is no specific rule about which wine, however it’s a delicate and creamy sort of dish which is served among the primi (first courses) on an Italian menu so would therefore suit a white better than a red. It also suits wines typical of the northern half of Italy rather than the south, particularly the Piedmont area which points to a white of that region. The best match would be a zesty, flavourful variety, a spectacular Gavi di Gavi, La Minaia, which is fresh, dry and has fragrances of apple and pear. If you prefer red then a fruity Italian tends to work well with mushroom risotto. Staying in the Piedmont area, I have chosen a Dolcetto d’Alba ´Colombe´, Renato Ratti, a wine with great intensity and character, with notes of plum and mature cherries.

KILL ME THREE TIMES
MINISTRY OF SOUND – MARBELLA SESSIONS
THE GIRL ON THE
A comedy thriller is a good summer flick to watch with any audience. Funnyman Simon Pegg plays the lead as Charlie Wolfe, a man who unscrupulously kills people for a living. His dubious occupation has led him into some dangerous situations, but none as daring as his latest contract which has gone wrong in so many different ways. As a result, the assassin soon finds himself caught up in three different tales of mayhem and danger that could potentially put an end to his life. Charlie has to stay on his toes if he is going to survive his latest botched kill job. Also starring the stunning Teresa Palmer and dishy Luke Hemsworth, the cast support Pegg´s lead villainous character well. Pegg, who rose to fame with roles in Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz takes on this role with panache, a far cry from his usual guy next door, goody two-shoes characters he normally plays. Look out for Cocktail actor Bryan Brown as a corrupt cop and Sullivan Stapleton as very funny gambling addict. Kill Me Three Times is directed by rising star Kriv Stenders, behind the critically acclaimed Red Dog and Boxing Day. ROCKS RATING:
Summer has begun and DJ Colin Francis and Ministry of Sound have set the bar ridiculously high with their brand new album Marbella Sessions 2015, hitting the number one slot in the album chart for the third year in a row. Marbella has been one of the most talked about party destinations for the last few years and this album says it all. There’s a mix of garage classics, deep house, house anthems and dance. Big stars like Disclosure, Clean Bandit, Rudimental and Duke Dumont all make an appearance in this years Marbella Sessions. Along with huge summer tunes like So Freakin’ Tight by Tough Love and Wish You Were Mine by Philip George, which spent 3 weeks at number 2 in the UK Singles Chart after its release. With 3 CDs and 63 tracks on this album, there’s something for everyone. If you are sitting on the beach with champagne and the summer sun, feel good songs like these are just what you need as your soundtrack to the summer.
ROCKS RATING:
TRAIN
At the start it appears this is just an unfortunate story about an unemployed, divorced alcoholic. The life of Rachel involves getting the 8:04 train into London every morning. Despite having lost her job to booze, getting the train means she passes the street where her ex-husband Tom and new wife Anna live. It soon becomes clear that Rachel is in a very bad place. It is easy to start questioning Rachel’s sanity when we find out about her obsession with watching a couple have breakfast every morning on the same street where her ex lives. The couple are called Megan and Scott, but Rachel has given them the names “Jason and Jess”, along with a fantasy lifestyle she believes they have. And then Rachel sees something shocking. One morning staring out the window of her usual train, Rachel sees something that changes her life. The train passes giving Rachel only a minute to bear witness, but the minute is enough. Shortly afterwards Rachel discovers the real names of “Jason and Jess” as the couple appear in the newspaper, and so now she knows the importance of what she has just witnessed and goes to the police. Whether Rachel’s next choices do more harm or good is not initially obvious, and the novel begins to explore themes of power and betrayal. A great summer read by acclaimed Brit author Paula Hopkins. M
arbella Rocks exclusively chats to house music legends Alex P and Brandon Block, the original and craziest house DJ´s on the planet.
COULD YOU TELL OUR READERS WHAT IT’S LIKE TO BE A DJ?
ALEX P: Being a DJ is quite possibly the best thing you could ever imagine in your whole life. We get to travel the world and
26 MARBELLAROCKS | ISSUE 12
do everything you wanted to do when you’re a kid - it’s not just a job, it’s a lifestyle. We’ve had the fast cars, we’ve spent silly money on clothes, we’ve spent thousands on watches. We’ve been blessed enough to have been given the opportunity to be a DJ.
WOULD YOU SAY IT’S A CUT THROAT INDUSTRY?
BRANDON: It’s competitive! It’s
easy to produce records these days, when we started it just used to be about finding records.
WHAT MADE YOU WANT TO GET INTO IT?
BRANDON: I’m probably speaking for a lot of people when I say this, living in the 80’s, music wasn’t as accessible as it is now, you had to go somewhere to listen to it and you actually had to go out and
NEWS buy music. It was a harder job then but still just as rewarding as it is nowadays.
WHERE DID YOU START?
BRANDON: I started in my local pub, the DJ at the time was some old fella that used to press a button to speed up the decks. Me and my friends used to buy records and play them. Then one night the resident DJ didn’t turn up and the landlord said go on you two go and get your records and that was it! We took over.
DID YOU GET A LOT OF REJECTION?
BRANDON: No! (ha ha) I walked straight in and got a number 1. ALEX P: Things were a little bit different for me, I had to play records at the school disco, when the DJ was a fat bloke in the corner that no-one wanted to talk to! It just fascinated me the whole thing.
BIGGEST INFLUENCES?
ALEX P: The only reason I got into deep house music was because of Crew Rider, Fabio and people like that in the early days.
HOW DID YOU MEET?
ALEX P: It’s a long story…kind of like when planets implode It´s heavy stuff.
DID YOU KNOW YOU WERE GOING TO BE FRIENDS AS SOON AS YOU MET?
BRANDON: I think there is some people you just know you´ll always get on with. We didn’t actually see each other for about a year after the night we first met, then that was it, we were inseparable!
WHAT’S THE CRAZIEST THING YOU’VE EVER DONE?
ALEX P: I stole a bus full of people in Ibiza… then crashed into a wall! BRANDON BLOCK: Storming the stage intoxicated at the Brit Awards in 2000. Ronnie Wood and Thora Birch were not impressed. That and winning Muzik Magazine´s “Caner of the
Year” prize three years in a row!! That was the old me though!
WHERE WAS YOUR FIRST EVER MAJOR DJ GIG? ALEX P: Space in Ibiza
DO YOU THINK IT IS EASIER TO BECOME A DJ NOWADAYS?
WHERE IS YOUR FAVOURITE PLACE TO DJ IN MARBELLA? BRANDON: Aqwa Mist and I love the beach parties here at Plaza. There also used to be a club here called Glam, which was pretty good.
ALEX P: Yeah, it’s like a supermarket now!!
WORST THING ABOUT BEING A DJ?
WHAT WOULD YOUR ADVICE BE FOR PEOPLE THAT WANT TO BE A DJ?
WHO ARE YOU LISTENING TO RIGHT NOW?
BRANDON: You need to produce records, you put them on the internet, and you put loads of them—you keep making records and people will see your name and you might have a hit record.
WHAT MADE YOU GET INVOLVED IN HISTORY OF HOUSE? ALEX P: I thought it was a brilliant idea and the time was right. You youngsters don’t know what Brandon and me went through before so this is a taste!
WHAT’S THE BEST THING ABOUT BEING A DJ?
BRANDON: Being able to play music you love and have the power to make people feel good when you’re playing.
WHAT DO YOU LOVE ABOUT MARBELLA?
ALEX P: The late nights.
BRANDON: I always listen to Norman Jay or Deep London Radio.
FAVOURITE DJ OF ALL TIME?
BRANDON: David Rodigan and Dean Thatcher.
WHAT COULDN’T YOU LIVE WITHOUT?
BRANDON: My girlfriend, cats and fish tanks.
WHAT DO YOU DO TO RELAX?
BRANDON: Read books, play badminton and occasionally play Texas Holdem Poker!
BEST ADVICE YOU’VE EVER BEEN GIVEN?
BRANDON: To stop taking drugs when I did otherwise it would have been curtains! Read more about this in the August issue!!

hen Lenny Kravitz started his career in the music industry he was so poor he had to live in a car that he rented for $5 a day. Now he’s a four-time Grammy award-winning singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, record producer, author and arranger, who’s also acted in films such as Precious and The Hunger Games. Yes, Lenny Albert (Kravitz) is a pretty impressive man. And even better he’s coming to Marbella this month! But Lenny’s journey to success was not an easy ride. Despite the fact his parents were already film stars, Lenny rejected their help in order to begin his career alone. So after graduating in 1982 Lenny left home and hit the road with next to nothing. In a chance meeting on arrival in New York City, he fell in love with

the 80’s star of The Cosby Show, Lisa Benet. In fact New York was a lucky place for young Lenny, as it was also where he met recording engineer Henry Hirsh, which kickstarted the release of his first album, Let Love Rule in 1989. In the following years, Lenny and Hirsh, both with a shared passion for mixing jazz, rock and R&B released the track which made his career. Are You Gonna Go My Way released in 1993 earned Kravitz a Brit Award for Best International Male Artist and an MTV Music Award for Best Video. At a time when all music videos were played on MTV and were make or break for the artist, Lenny thrashing on his electric guitar with his unruly dreadlocks, leather trousers and platforms made for unmissable viewing. Everything seemed to be perfect in Lenny´s world. He had an

FEATURES unstoppable recording career of his own and was even producing records and playing guitar for the likes of Mick Jagger, Madonna, Aerosmith and David Bowie. However things started to go badly for the star when Lenny´s mum died at age 66 of breast cancer and after 8 years together, Lisa and Lenny sadly got divorced. Lenny blamed the separation on the teachings of his father. “My mother loved my father. My father just liked women,” Lennie explained in an episode of Oprah’s Master Class. “My father was getting ready to leave and move out” Lenny described that he clearly remember his father saying to me, ‘You’ll do it, too.’ It messed me up. Unfortunately his father’s prediction seemingly became true when the couple divorced after rumours of Kravitz infidelity. Following the break up Lenny released his darkest album; Circus. Some of the songs in this album make it clear just how much Lenny was suffering. For example, in the song Can’t Get You Off My Mind Lenny sings, “I don’t wanna lose you baby, and I don’t wanna be alone. Don’t wanna live my days without you, but for now I’ve got to be without you.” However despite cheating rumours (with none other than Madonna), Lisa and Lenny have remained friends. Which was made obvious when they attended this year’s Met Gala Ball together, and were photographed linking arms. But now for the past 8 years Lisa has been dating Jason Momoa (Aquaman). Lenny has made an effort to be friends with Lisa’s new man. Kravitz said his ongoing friendship with Lisa is especially due to their daughter, Zoe Kravitz, who is now a successful American actress, singer and model. “We had Zoe, which is, I see now, what it was all about. It was really all about bringing this beautiful child to the planet and also sharing the love that [Lisa and I] had,” said Lenny. “When we’re all together now, we’re all together and we’re one big happy family. It’s beautiful and it just shows you what can be done.” Today you will probably recognise Zoe from films such as X-Men: First Class, Divergent, Insurgent and Mad Max: Fury Road. Performing just seems to be within the Kravitz family’s blood. Lenny’s mother,

Roxie Roker, even broke racial barriers with her performance in The Jefferson’s, where her character married a white man, the first interracial couple to be shown on prime time television. But growing up in a life of fame and fortune does not mean Lenny missed out on those typical gross jobs that most teenagers have to get. In fact, in high school he worked in a fish market, cutting up fish for a living. But yet hung out with celebs like actor Joe Namath, and was shown how to play piano by jazz legend Duke Ellington. Over all it seems Lenny has kept himself very busy over the years. “Between the music ... the photography, the acting, and the design company that I run, it’s pretty much 24/7,” Lenny said at an interview this week in Paris. But now at the age of 51, he believes it is time to make room for someone special. “There’s times you say, Man, I’d love to be married again, and I’d love to have a family’ and all of these things. But I’ve sacrificed that for all of these things that I do,” Kravitz admitted at the interview. “I don’t have regrets, because that would mean I’m not trusting in what’s to be. I am waiting to see what happens - I’m a free man.” Lenny said that now there is love missing in his life. “I can feel that it’s time — you know, those things will continue, because I love them — but I need to make room for a new personal life.” At the interview this week
Lenny also revealed that his next ambition is to direct movies. “I would do an indie film, do my own film,” he says, adding that he’s working on a script. “I don’t know if many people know I want to do that [directing]. I think it’s something I’m going to do.” But until then we still have his live music to enjoy, as Lenny is touring this month in Denmark, France, Portugal, Italy and Sweden. But most importantly on the 22nd of July this year the legendary rock star Lenny Kravitz will be performing at the Starlite festival in Marbella Spain! Alongside 21 amazing artists such as, Lionel Richie and Enrique Inglesias.

arbella Rocks journalists Sam Moores and Chris Murphy participated in the exhilarating Gumball 3000 Rally from Stockholm to Vegas last month. One of the world´s longestrunning and high profile supercar races, Gumball attracts serious car afficionados and equally serious spenders. It costs €45,000 just to take part in the race. Famed as much for its fast cars as its wild parties held during each leg of the race – read this exciting, entertaining, no-holds barred account of the craziest race on the planet – and get your credit card ready to book your trip next year!
SWEET SWEDEN
The race kicked off in Sweden´s capital Stockholm this year. Plenty of partying was had before we hit the starting grid as registration starts the day before and the party atmosphere kicks in a few days before. And Stockholm is the place to party! The Swedes are great and so welcoming. Beautiful hot women, you can walk into any club and are surrounded by “11/10 girls”. A lot of Gumballers reported threesomes and even foursomes,
34 MARBELLAROCKS | ISSUE 12
but we were on our best behaviour! The starting grid was chaotic with over 100 cars participating, we held back in our Porsche 918 to get the best pictures from the event.
Once underway the drive to our next stopover point, Oslo, was fairly relaxed, cruising along through scenic countryside alongside vintage classics and hybrid hypercars such as LaFerrari, the Porsche 918 Spyder, Pagani Huayra and McLaren P1´s. We passed quite a few cars that had obviously been pulled over by police. One of our friends was even being escorted in the opposite direction presumably for a blood test. They do this when they get a
questionable breathaliser reading. Therefore readers, here are my 3 golden Gumball rules to remember: 1. Leave early with limited alcohol in your system 2. Navigation is key – don´t get lost 3. Don´t get caught by the police!!

all provided with letters in our hotel that said all sponsors logos had to be covered up by tape on our route through Germany. (????) We left early to avoid any problems and despite us following the regulations we were repeatedly stopped to have our documents checked all the way through Germany. The most frustrating moment was when this driver appeared to be veering in and out of lanes and undercutting us, acting really strange. Thinking it was just a follower trying to get a good photo of our car we dutifully played around until it got on our nerves - so much so we undercut it and sped off. Much to our annoyance the car happened to be undercover police and we were pulled over yet again. The police were shocked to find out we filmed the whole thing and were quick to let us go without so much as a warning!! German Police: 0 Moores & Murphy: 1.
AMSTERDAM
The Dam didn´t disappoint. A huge festival was put on at the Ajax Stadium where we were supposed to drive our cars in front of the 30,000 strong crowd. Dutch DJ Afrojack also put on an impressive gig. This was another night of classic partying where we bumped into a fellow racer who had a Facebook sponsor sticker on his car. But strangely with the words “Thank you¨ emblazoned above it. As he was holding his magnum of champagne we questioned his gratitude of the social media site. To which he promptly replied: “I´m one of the initial founders and Facebook earnt me $700 million.” Ahhhh, ok, get it now
MILE-HIGH MADNESS There is only one word to describe
SIGHT SEEING AT KOENIGSEGG Gumball Rallyers were also treated to a tour around the Koenigsegg Factory in Copenhagen where we got to see a €1.5m one: 1 CCXR in production. 13,000 kilos to 13,000 break horse power, carbon fibre
wheels that our guide threw at us and they were as light as a feather. An amazing car. We also got to drag race around the test circuit with other Gumballers reaching speeds of 190mph.

Within 15 minutes of the plane taking off Dirty Sanchez entertainer Pritchard stripped off and was parading around the plane fully naked. We´re convinced his drink was spiked soon after as he passed out very quickly! We were allowed in the cockpit and one crafty Gumballer even duck-taped his iPhone to the pilot´s tanoy so we had loud music throughout the duration of the flight. Other recollections from the flight include a skateboard whizzing past on descent. Not exactly health and safety but this was a private flight not a passenger one, so rules went out the window.
LA BOUND
Midwest Gumball trips are pretty dull….600 mile long stretches with nothing but a petrol station, a lapdance club and a place to buy fried chicken! Thankfully this year we hit the West Coast again (!) landing in Reno then hitting San Francisco before arriving in LA. The US leg of the journey was even more exciting this year as we got to race with F1 Champion Lewis Hamilton. Plus other regular US participants included rapper Eve (who married Gumball founder Maximillion Cooper on last year´s race), Baywatch star David Hasselhoff and boxer Mike Tyson. Reports from local newspapers suggested that Gumballers were driving in and out of LA highway traffic of up to speeds of 170mph. We know nothing about this!!
VEGAS BABY!
The final leg of the trip to Vegas was an exhausting one. Not only because you have been non-stop travelling and partying for 7 days
36 MARBELLAROCKS | ISSUE 12
but also because you have officially covered 3000 miles of driving. A mean feat in itself. Once in Vegas Gumball put on a finale 2-day festival at MGM Village including a vert ramp skateboard demo from ‘Tony Hawk & friends’ followed by performances from DJ Muggs of Cypress Hill, Bun B, The Alchemist, EVE, Deadmau5 and Diplo. Having just completed my fourth, but certainly not final, Gumball – I can safely say i´ll be singing up to 2016. Hopefully see you there! Sam Moores, Automotive Photographer and Gumball Veterin. battle of the bands T
he music industry is one of the largest money making machines in the world, creating around $15 billion in revenue each year alone. But who gets the biggest cut of this revenue stream and how successful are these bands really? To make a successful band or
popstar requires talent, vocal range, the best songs and songwriters to get the number one hits – plus, most importantly, a gap in the market for these artists to draw in fans and get people to buy their records. But the problem is with gaps in the market for new artists dwindling, many artists have to compete hard against
each other to get their slice of the million dollar record industry pie. Marbella Rocks has been digging around to find out who are the most successful acts in the world, pitting similar stars against each other. SIXTIES LEGENDS
THE BEATLES
VS
THE ROLLING STONES
The Beatles are widely considered as the first and original boyband. Formed in 1960 in Liverpool; John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr made up the band. They acquired the nickname “The Fab Four” as Beatlemania grew in Britain and by early 1964 they had become international stars, leading the British Invasion of the United States pop market. Their career spanned two decades before Lennon was killed in 1980. They remain one of the most successful pop bands ever with 17 number one singles and 12 number one albums.
The Stones pioneered the gritty rock and roll sound of the 60´s that has spawned countless imitations over the years. Mick Jagger became the prototypical rock frontman and the Stones hardened rock image (with Keith Richards, Bill Wyman and Charlie Watts also at the helm) was the exact opposite of their squeaky clean Merseyside rivals, The Beatles. Songs like Satisfaction, Get Off My Cloud and Let´s Spend the Night Together made them the archetypal anti-boyband of the time. It was noted that any parent would hate their daughter to date a Stone!

Anyone in the sixties fell into 2 categories; Mods (for Beatles) and Rockers (for Stones), so it is difficult to gauge an out and out winner as digital statistics are not readily available and the winner totally depends on an individual´s musical preference. 10 Ways to Not Overpack for Vacation Here’s some not so shocking news that came out in the news recently: women are over-packers. According to a recent study conducted by Holiday Analogist, nine out of ten women never wear all the clothes (including the eight pairs of shoes) they pack for vacation. Sound familiar? Of course it does. The idea of a vacation may be relaxing, but packing for one is not. And most of the time, the only way you know how to deal with the stress is by packing way more clothes than you need. If you’re headed on a summer getaway and want to make sure your suitcase doesn’t end up weighing as much as you, consider these 10 helpful tips.
1
PLAN YOUR OUTFITS Count how many days you’ll be on vacation and break that day up into events or activities (i.e. brunch, beach, hike, dinner.) Figure out how many items of clothing you’ll need to create appropriate outfits for all those different events or activities. Try your best to find items that can be worn more than once or in more than one outfit.
2
MAKE A CHECKLIST Now that you know exactly what you want to bring, make a checklist with everything on it so you can be sure you don’t forget anything, like Rachel Zoe. Rachel suggests going one step further and breaking your list down into categories.
FASHION
3
PACK FLEXIBLE CLOTHES When choosing items to pack, consider those that are easy to mix and match, clothing that can transition from day to night and pieces that don’t take up a lot of space in your suitcase. Basics are always a good idea because they go with everything. Dresses and tops that you can dress down during the day and up at night are also great to bring along. If you aren’t going somewhere warm and sunny, choose just one jacket that matches everything.
4
BE REALISTIC Are you really going to wear those platforms on the cobblestones of Paris? Probably not. A good way to assess what you’re packing is to break it down to the items you wear frequently on a daily basis. While you might want to show off those killer new boots, it’s a better idea to bring the pair that is tried and true: you won’t get blisters, and they won’t fall apart. (If you do want to bring a new pair of shoes, wear them around town or at home for a week or two: if they stand the test, they’ll make the cut.)
5
USE THE ROLLING METHOD To maximize the space in your suitcase, be sure to adopt the rolling method. Not only will it make more room, it’ll also ensure that your
clothes will have less creases.
6
THREE DAYS BEFORE DEPARTURE Run by your local discount store and/or cosmetics counter and buy the following: ● Travel size containers for toiletries ● Sunscreen ● Tanless lotion ● Stain remover, wipes and tissues ● Lip balm with sunscreen ● Fill your prescriptions ●B orrow a good beach book; buy magazines when you arrive because they are just too darn heavy to schlep yourself ● Buy snacks for the trip down ●M ake sure you have enough dog and cat food if you’re leaving your animals home with a sitter ●S top your mail and paper if you don’t have someone getting it for you ● Go by the bank for cash ●D o laundry so anything you might want to pack will be clean
7
BRING SAMPLE SIZED BEAUTY PRODUCTS You don’t want to risk your favourite lotion exploding all over your clothes or leaving behind your expensive bottle of perfume or foundation at the hotel. Travel smart by planning ahead and visiting your local Sephora or department stores to gather sample sizes of beauty
products. If they don’t make samples for things you need, create your own travel-sized products by using small containers like contact lenses or old lipgloss jars.
8
CHECK THE WEATHER Before you go stuffing your bags full of linen, it’s a good idea to check the weather forecast for the length of your trip. This will eliminate some unnecessary items, and will help to lighten your load. That being said, packing layers is always smart, as even tropical climates can show volatility, and you’ll have more options to pull from, no matter what your travel plans bring. Plus, you never know when they’ll turn the hotel air conditioning way up.
9
WEAR YOUR BULKIEST ITEMS ON THE PLANE Plan on wearing the items that take up the most space in your suitcase to the airport or when traveling. That way, you’ll be able to make more room for more clothes.
10
WIFI TO UPLOAD YOUR SELFIES Get the Wifi password for many hotels, restaurants, cafés, and more by checking the comments section of FourSquare. It´s expensive to use your mobile phones data roaming when visiting abroad.
Location, Location… Visa? Check. Bucket list? Check. Vaccinations, travel guides, and EuroTrip movie-watching party? Check, check, and check. So, it seems that you’re essentially ready to fly off to your summer abroad destination, and you probably know more about the do’s and don’ts of travelling than any one person should know. At this point, you just want to be on that plane, getting closer and closer to that much-anticipated summer abroad. But you’re forgetting one hugely major thing: What are you supposed to wear there? Getting dressed for summer in Marbella is hard enough, but now you have to add in another country’s weather and culture to that mix? It sounds almost unbearable. But, of course, we’ve got it all covered. My good friend, a PR and marketing specialist for an exotic holiday destination and I put together some things you must know before you begin your journey —you’ll never question what you’re supposed to be wearing. From rainy days to hiking up killer mountains, we’ve got everything you need to know about packing for every destination.
Europe From London, Paris, and Spain to Ireland, Amsterdam

FASHION and Italy, you’ve got a lot of land to cover in Europe, but only so much room in your suitcase for clothes. So where to begin? Consider what you’ll be doing while you’re abroad. Will you be hiking mountains or exploring the finest shops the city has to offer? While the ultimate decision is up to you, it has to be noted that in Europe, there is plenty of sightseeing and walking to be done, not to mention tons of lines to wait in for the most popular European attractions, so you’ll probably want to bring a pair of good walking shoes. But to really break it down, we’ve got to look at just where you’re travelling.
London Known for its temperamental weather and cobblestone streets, London can be quite the tricky city to pack for, but no need to fret—we’ve got you all set (and we know how to rhyme!). As a high-style city, London is the perfect place to whip out your inner fashionista. Say goodbye to just rolling out of bed and throwing something on, and hello to anything and everything that’s daring, fun, and trendy. Everything is fair game— high heels to the movies or to a pub, miniskirts with the Union Jack flag, large sweaters and ripped jeans. Whatever your style is, London will embrace it 100% and you may just get hit on a lot more by dressing the way you want over how everyone expects it back home. As for dealing with the on-again, off-again rain London is so famous for? Well, let’s just say London weather can be more complicated than Derek Jeter and Minka Kelly’s relationship. But London typically has a consistent drizzle with a cloudy day, not a heavy downpour that leaves you helplessly stuck inside. But instead of attempting to pack those unpackable
50 MARBELLAROCKS | ISSUE 12
rain boots, try going for a more durable, wearable combat boot, or any water resistant shoe that you find comfortable. We even recommend wearing them on the plane to save on poundage with your luggage. That being said, the key to successfully conquering London is all about comfort. Comfort, comfort, comfort. We can’t drill it into your mind anymore. Not only will those cobblestone streets have you wobbling in those 5-inch pumps, but with so many sights to see, your feet will be singing praises if they’re nice and snug in something with support. While it’s really up to you what you consider a comfortable shoe, most people have said they enjoyed sporting sneakers or boots while in London.
Paris There’s no denying the fact that Paris is considered one of the most fashionable places in the world. Keeping up with the Parisians may seem daunting, but really, almost anything goes when it comes to style there. You can wear pretty much anything and get away with it. However, on the off chance that you run into Karl Lagerfeld, it’s hard not to want to look your best. There’s a lot of pressure to dress well, so we suggest you bring a
lot of nice clothes and shoes with you. In Paris, it’s a juggling act between being trendy and being comfortable. But when it comes down to it, when you’re mixing and mingling with tourists from around the world in a two-hour wait outside the Louvre, no one really notices what you’re wearing. A major faux pas, according to my Parisian friend is rocking your classic sweats. She suggests leaving your hoodies and matching sweatpants, white tennis shoes, shorts, and bright colored nylon windbreakers at home. While it’s most certainly okay to be comfortable, Parisians aren’t too fond of a typical suburban housewife’s closet. Instead pack a boho dress, comfortable sandals and a big oversized bag. It’s comfortable but it’s not outdated. What’s the major upside to Paris, though? The idea of going au naturel. Parisian women typically don’t obsess over their hair and make-up, and instead choose a more simple look. That means while you’re visiting this cosmopolitan city, you can set aside the flatiron, embrace your inner beauty, and not worry about your next blowout.
Australia Unlike Europe, Australia and New Zealand are all about outdoorsy activities. You can bungee jump, do a canyon swing, or try Zorbing, There is also the terrain in the Australian outback, so this is not exactly the place to be sporting your heels. On top of all that, Australia and New Zealand also have tons of surfing, sailing, snorkeling, and scuba diving. Adventure is just calling your name! So what to pack for all this high-action fun? Well,
FASHION the number one thing to remember is that fall in the EU actually means summer in Australia and New Zealand. That means pack for the opposite temperatures that you’d experience in Europe. However, the Australian sun is harsh, and we recommend you pack clothing that protects you from sunburn… and a lot of sunscreen. It’s all about summery breezy clothing, not very different from the Tarifa lifestyle (in Southern Spain). But if you venture up North, expect to do a lot of hiking, rock climbing, and camping. Walking shoes might be a must for Europe, but in Australia comfortable hiking shoes are absolutely mandatory. “No one wants to explore a rainforest in uncomfortable shoes!” And since the sun is hotter than a shirtless Ryan Gosling, a hat is a necessity. I’m pretty sure there’s almost nothing worse than a burnt scalp. But outside of the adrenaline-pumping activities, Australia is a laid back place. “There aren’t any specific fashion rules people should know about. Vintage is popular. Footy [Australian football] is a huge sport, so you’ll see locals wearing colours and gear to support their local teams.
China Fall abroad in China may have the best weather ever. Temperatures generally range from 25 degrees to the mid-30´s, so just picture a cosy summer day. All terrain shoes would also be helpful as you may be visiting the countryside more so than the big cities. When it comes to China, you’re most likely going to be walking on uneven surfaces and stairs. I mean, do you really want to walk the Great Wall of China in
flip-flops? That just sounds like an accident waiting to happen. But more importantly, while you’re in China, you’re definitely going to be visiting religious temples. Now it may seem obvious, but I’ll say it anyway: dress appropriately. Pack your temple wear, as we call it. That means your ankles should be covered and your outfit shouldn’t be revealing. In this situation, it’s always better to be more conservatively dressed than not. We recommend wearing a sarong (which can be purchased in Asia), and a shortsleeved shirt that’s respectful but won’t make you sweat.
Thailand Thailand seems to be the perfect mix of beachy fun and cultural engagement. From lounging in the sun to exploring religious temples, the country has so much to explore. So, if you plan on soaking up the sun on the sandy shores of Thailand, pack accordingly. It is a beach. We recommend reef sandals for water activities (or any shoe that can tie to your feet – not flip flops. According to China holiday makers, these shoes are essential not only for water activities, but also for visiting local houses and pagodas. But more importantly, just what is appropriate to wear to Buddhist temples and palaces? Like in China, modesty is key. However, the Bangkok Grand Palace (one of the main attractions in the country) has a laundry list of prohibited attire. Some things to keep in mind: no open-toed shoes or too tight (and therefore revealing) pants.
The Middle East and North Africa It’s no surprise that when it comes to this region of the world, modesty in dress is essential. With religious and political tension at an all-time high, as a tourist, it’s better to blend in than cause a scene in a bodycon dress, ripped jeans or crop tops.
Egypt Egypt is hot, really hot (I’m sure you were just blown away by this information). So sun protection is a must there because it’s the desert heat that can wreak havoc. Speaking of the desert, another news flash: Egypt is a desert, which means it’ll get chilly at night. One or two light sweaters will do—after a day in the heat you can embrace a colder evening. But besides the obvious pyramids, what is there to do in Egypt? So much. From riding camels through Giza to archeological digs, Egypt is a country overflowing with culture and outdoor outings. Comfortable clothing such as cargo pants, sturdy shoes, and short sleeve shirts are pretty acceptable – no midriff baring tops, no halter tops or short shorts. This is North Africa; you can’t parade around in your best Marbella Saturday night party attire. It’s not only disrespectful, but it’s also unsafe. We recommend women pack conservative

FASHION clothing that covers your knees and shoulders, so don’t even think about packing your crop top collection.
Morocco Morocco is one of the most holiday abroad destinations. It’ll take some time for you to get adjusted to the Moroccan lifestyle - but once you do, it’ll be the experience of your life. Unlike other countries in North Africa and the Middle East, Morocco is relatively safe, making it one of the more popular tourist destinations in the region. Filled to the brim with culture, language, and sights, it’s easy to get lost taking Morocco in. However, it is a conservative Islamic country, meaning that all travelers must be respectful and dress appropriately. Modest dressing is the best thing you can do to protect yourself from being targeted as both a woman and a foreigner. It’s inevitable that comments will be made, even if you are or look like you are of Arab origin (though it’s worst if you’re blonde), you don’t have to cover your head but dress respectfully. Like we said, drawing attention to yourself, especially as a woman, is not recommended. So instead of packing your favourite short shorts and spaghetti-strap tank top, try a longer pant and a short-sleeved shirt. Incredibly helpful tip: don’t flaunt any cleavage. It may be socially acceptable in the Europe but you have to remember you´re not in the Costa del Sol anymore. As for other packing musts, we swear by scarves. They can be bought all throughout the country, so bring some of your favorites from home, but
52 MARBELLAROCKS | ISSUE 12
make room for that inevitable scarfshopping spree in your future. Not only does this accessory keep you warm during chilly nights, it also allows you to mix, match, and switch up your look—no one will ever call you out for being an outfit repeater. But don’t forget, Morocco can and will get cold at night, so layer up.
South America While winter in New York is snowy, in South America, it’ll feel like summer never left. But before you get too caught up in packing your favorite floral dresses, remember this: South American weather can be about as temperamental as mother nature can get. South America is about layers. Because the climate can be tropical at times, it’s good to be prepared for any type of weather - hot one minute, rainy the next. From the rainforest, to the mountains to the desert, South America has just about every type of climate, so packing can be tricky. But one thing that is a must to bring, it’s your backpack. It feels like you are on an excursion, no matter what country you are in. There’s always another mountain to hike or desert to hike through, and without a backpack, this is not easy. Pack a few light sweaters and a fall coat. When in doubt about the weather, just throw one of them in your bag and you’ll always be prepared.
Chile
Let’s start with a fun fact: Chile holds the record for the longest dry spell in the Atacama Desert—it didn’t rain for 40 years! While it’s definitely seen rainfall since then, you still shouldn’t expect too much rain while you’re in Chile. You’ll definitely never be held back by the rain in Chile. It’s amazing being in a place that feels like it’s perfect weather every day. Seeing as though most Chileans live in Santiago, you’re most likely to be found hanging out in the city during the day. But unlike Paris and London, Santiago isn’t the epicenter of the fashion world. In fact, it’s a laidback area. There’s no need to worry about being hip or chic; instead, Chileans seek comfort in their clothing, and if you plan on walking around the city for hours on end, definitely go for comfortable footwear, too. However, don’t go too overboard with your Marbella style. Like in the Middle East, shorts aren’t part of Chilean culture. Girls would receive more ‘piropos’ (or cat calls) when in shorts. It is a pretty sure sign that you aren’t local. And when it comes to mingling with the locals, watch your back—literally. Pickpocketing is common. But how can you avoid getting robbed? Besides being aware and cautious at all times, we recommend a crossbody bag. And for further protection, keep your hand over it all times. That way, no one will dare take anything from you. While you’re traveling the world, just remember these packing musts before you jet off to any destination. Au revoir, adios, and ma’a salama. Safe travels! Zahra x

ut your best face forward for the rest of the summer. Go melt-proof! When temperatures rise, your makeup slides. It is one of the few downfalls of summer. But there are many ways to deal with humidity. It is necessary to find products that can withstand the heat, humidity and even sweat. Here are some long wearing products that will stay put in the heat: Switch to both silicone-based primers and foundations to help hold make-up in place. The key to long-lasting foundation is the primer. A siliconebased one can turn skin that’s been up all night into a face that radiates like the morning sun. It creates the look of a totally flawless complexion and waves goodbye to enlarged pores, acne scars and even fine lines and wrinkles. The silicone also adheres to the foundation greatly and is water resistant so won’t smear off during the course of the day. Try Smashbox Photo Finish Targeted Pore and Line Primer. A lightweight silicone-based foundation formula is the best choice. The silicone acts like a film between your skin and the humidity, preventing foundation from seeping into your pores or dribbling down your chin. A good pick is Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation. The less you put on, the less there is to slide off. A dampened make-up sponge is a good tool for applying it so that it goes on light and sheer. Swipe it from the middle of your face outward in short strokes. Give it a minute or so to set before you apply other makeup. Apply concealer after the foundation and you will use less product since the foundation has probably done most of the covering and leaves the concealer to only do the final touches. If you have blemishes or dark circles to cover, the last thing you want to worry about is your concealer evaporating halfway through a hot day, or getting splashed away at the pool. Try Make Up For Ever’s Waterproof Concealer which is a densely pigmented cream
HAIR & BEAUTY
formula and provides full coverage but is yet super light. To reduce shine and set make-up, take a fluffy brush and dust a translucent powder across your T-zone. Make Up For Ever HD Microfinish Powder is perfect because it’s talcfree and mattifies without feeling dry. Choose creamy shadows over powder shadows. When sweat and powders mix, the result isn’t pretty. Sheer cream shadows tend to cake less in hot weather. Laura Mercier Satinee Creme Eye Colour contains silicone that locks the colour in place, and Benefit Creaseless Cream Shadow/Liner stand the test of time without smudging. Liquid liner may take patience and practice, but once on, a good
formula won’t budge or smudge in the heat like a kohl pencil can. I like Shiseido Makeup Automatic Fine Eyeliner and L’oreal Paris Lineur Intense Brush Tip Liquid Eyeliner. Sweatproof your lashes. Waterproof mascara is a no-brainer in the summer. It can withstand the office, the gym, the pool, and the bar without smudging. My favourite inky sheen is Chanel Inimitable Waterproof Mascara. Lipgloss can get runny and sticky in the sun. Therefore a tinted lip balm with a high wax content won’t turn to mush in your bag or on your mouth. A great option is Aveda Lip Tints SPF 15.

The Barber Club also prides itself on having the best quality in Marbella. I am a huge coffee fan and having sampled hundreds of establishments I have yet to find a decent coffee (barring Dezentral by the H10 Andalucía Plaza – thanks guys.) So I decided to start the Coffee Lounge and freshly roast my own varieties of coffee beans on site in The Barber Club. 15 in total to be precise. You´ll be hard pushed to find a better one on the coast. Sorry Dezentral. If you´re a gym buff then I have also introduced a variety of protein shakes to sort you out before or after workouts. Then, there´s the hard stuff. I love my alcohol but am constantly fed up with the piss poor selection of cocktail bars here in Marbella. Come and try my new selection and you´ll be booking a back-sack-and-crack twice a week, despite the pain.

his month I am going back to basics, no pushing products or supplements. I’m not even going to tell you what to eat. There’s something all around us, something that these days falls insignificantly behind recreational beverages and trendy energy drinks. But it’s the most important thing of all. WATER! We all know it’s important right? And I’m not talking about the “Marbella Water” that comes in big bottles with sparklers. We’re talking about good old H2O! Call me a hippy but here’s a stat/quote you’ve all no doubt heard before: “We can go for WEEKS without food but only DAYS without water!” But when do we drink it, why and how much? The majority of us drink when we are thirsty or dehydrated. It just simply holds so much more benefits to not let it get that far and STAY hydrated in the first place. Let’s discuss the elixir of life!! For starters water plays a vital role in nearly every bodily function. Lack of water is the number one cause of daytime fatigue. Just a 2% drop in body water can trigger fuzzy short-term memory, trouble with basic math, and difficulty focusing on the computer screen or on a printed page. Not to mention headaches and in some cases shortness of breath. There is a reason they are always telling us to drink “8 glasses a day” etc. It’s because it really is that important!! BENEFITS OF INCREASED WATER CONSUMPTION FOR WEIGHT LOSS Water naturally suppresses appetite and increases the body’s ability to metabolise (burn) stored fat. Drinking 6-8 glasses a day can help curb your appetite because it has a filling effect. Also dehydration can signal your body to eat because the breakdown of food releases water. Don’t be fooled when really your body is asking for hydration instead of nourishment. The chances are you’re not even hungry; you’re just thirsty as hell! Simply knocking back a glass of the wet stuff can put an end to those snacking feelings. Ketones, a natural by-product of fat burning, are flushed out of the body through urine. Drinking water helps to flush them out, thereby improving the fat burning process. Studies have shown that a decrease in water intake will cause fat deposits to increase, while an increase in water intake can actually reduce fat deposits. (And there we are reducing our cash deposits on fancy named “fat burners!”) This is thought to occur because a lack of water lowers the efficiency of your kidneys, which results in some kidney functions being taken over by the liver. Since the liver’s primary function is to metabolise stored fat into usable energy for the body, it metabolises less fat while it’s roped into performing jobs for the kidneys all the time. This results in less fat burned, and less weight lost. Crazy huh? So yeah, help the liver out, drink it and lots!!!
HEALTH & FITNESS PEETS TIP
DON’T WORRY ABOUT DRINKING TOO MUCH, TOO MUCH IS BETTER THAN NOT ENOUGH AND AS FAR AS “WATER RETENTION” IS CONCERNED, ASIDE FROM ANY ALLERGIES OR INTOLERANCES YOUR BODY WILL ALWAYS BALANCE THE RATIO OF INTRACELLULAR (WATER INSIDE THE MUSCLE) AND SUBCUTANEOUS (WATER OUTSIDE THE MUSCLE). WE CALL THIS HOMEOSTASIS! ASSUMING YOUR URINARY SYSTEM IS INTACT YOU REALLY SHOULD BE PASSING WATER AT LEAST ONCE EVERY 2-3 HOURS AFTER BREAKFAST. IF YOU ARE LESS REGULAR AND/OR YOUR URINE IS A DARK COLOUR THIS IS A SIGN OF DEHYDRATION. IN TURN IF YOU ARE PASSING EVERY HALF HOUR OR SO AND URINE IS CLEAR YOU ARE FULLY HYDRATED AND CAN BACK OFF ON YOUR INTAKE.
Key times to sink the wet stuff:
1. It is essential to drink water upon waking or before breakfast. When we sleep, we dehydrate so it is pivotal to drink up to a litre throughout the first hours of your day! 2. It can take up to 6 hours for our muscles to fully hydrate so baring this in mind I like to make sure I’m consuming at least a glass every half hour up to my workouts, this is essential when loading in carbohydrates pre-workout as H2O is the main transporter of glycogen (blood sugar made from carbohydrates) into the muscle cell. No water = restricted carb loading and as covered in previous articles we know full glycogen muscle storage is key to energising our workouts. 3. Taking a large water before bed will help aid in cell repair and renewal as you sleep. While some will argue that water isn’t anabolic (muscle repairing), there is no doubt of its anti-catabolic effects. Dehydration stimulates muscle breakdown (catabolism) and taking into account that when we sleep we are essentially fasting, this situation would be detrimental to muscle development and growth. WATER BEFORE BED WILL HELP YOU KEEP THE HARD EARNED MUSCLE YOU HAVE MADE!!!!!
PEETS TIP
ONE GOOD REASON TO KEEP YOUR MUSCLES WELL HYDRATED IS BASED ON THE THEORY OF CELL-VOLUMISATION, OF WHICH CREATINE PLAYS A LARGE ROLE. WHEN YOUR MUSCLES CELLS ARE FLUID-FILLED, AN ANABOLIC STIMULUS IS GENERATED AND MORE NUTRIENTS ENTER YOUR MUSCLE CELLS. YOU MAY HAVE SEEN BODYBUILDERS AT THE GYM WITH A 2 GALLON MILK CARTON FULL OF WATER...THEY ARE SMART. YOU CAN TRULY MAXIMISE YOUR BODYS POTENTIAL FROM THIS SIMPLE ADDITION TO YOUR WORKOUT, ESPECIALLY IF YOU’RE DOING AN AEROBIC WORKOUT WHERE YOU ARE SWEATING A LOT.
AMATURE OLYMPIA
This Month I attended the first ever Joe Weiders Amature Olympia Spain at the Palacio de Congresso, Torremolinos. This much anticipated event is the most prestigious in the IFBB amature calender and gives those in the world of amature bodybuilding and fitness a chance to compete for the much coveted Pro-Card and the opportunity to compete in the professional ranks against the best in the industry. The event certainly delivered and the standard was truly top level with 2 local athletes taking the Gold Medal in their category and crown of Amature Olympia. BOTTOM LINE
Society today leads us astray when it comes to our water consumption. Yes there is an emphasis on reminding us that we need 8 glasses a day or some crap like that but much like the “5 a day” fruit slogan, only the so called “health freaks” seem to take any notice. And unless there is a worldwide drought there is no money in water, so we’re not about to have it pushed on us. We are all different and have different levels of activity and different levels of bodily hydration needs. The best strategy is to be “water conscious” and just simply keep hydrated. This is honestly going to improve day to day life - it’s not a lie. And if you are an avid gym goer or even a bodybuilder and you don’t shine a torch of importance on this free potion you are just naive and are destined to get nowhere for your efforts.

PERSONAL
TRAINING
People frequently ask me what the role of a personal trainer is. Let me give you the lowdown on exactly what it is I do and how I try to help change people´s lives. A knowledgeable trainer - will create a customised exercise programme for you, designed to help you reach your unique health and fitness goals. A trainer will also take into account special considerations (e.g. existing medical condition, pregnancy, post-rehabilitation, medications taken and so on) when creating a programme exclusively for you. Correct technique - When exercising, safety is the number one priority. A personal trainer will teach you the proper mechanics of each exercise and will ensure that you are performing each with correct form, thus maximizing the efficiency of your workouts. Enhance motivation - Having a scheduled session with a trainer promotes accountability on your part, and can assist in developing adherence in the long run to making exercise a regular part of your routine. In addition to the outside motivation, a personal trainer can also help you develop a more positive outlook on exercise by exploring
84 MARBELLAROCKS | ISSUE 12
options for making exercise more enjoyable, reviewing short-term progress towards goals, and assessing feeling- and mood-state changes related to exercise, thereby improving self-confidence and self-motivation. Alleviate boredom - Believe it or not, exercising can be fun! A personal trainer can help you select activities that you enjoy, and also choose exercises that will keep you challenged and on track towards reaching your fitness goals. Personal trainers have vast knowledge of various exercises, tools and techniques that can make training fun as well as educational. Sometimes clients come to me with specific goal, such as ‘I’m getting married’, or’ I am going on holiday’, but the most frequent comment I get is,’ I just want to be a bit thinner and a bit fitter’. Here is a specific case which will give you a better idea of how a personal trainer can help you.
HEALTH & FITNESS My client, Sue, came to me eight months post pregnancy. Prior to her pregnancy she had experienced being overweight, she had tried many different diets and had a negative relationship with food. Her exercise programme had been quite erratic and consisted of mainly class-based aerobics, with some spinning and occasional running, but on the days when she didn’t exercise she lead quite a sedentary life, being a mum to a new born and running a business from home.
Food
Food played a massive part in her body shape change; these are some of the swaps recommended by Claudia Norris, a registered Nutritionist here on the coast. BEFORE Breakfast Two cups of coffee Lunch Shop bought Sandwich, with white bread and mayo based filling, with crisps and fizzy drink. 4pm High sugar snack and fizzy drink 6pm Feed her son and pick at his leftovers Dinner 9pm, a large portion of carb-based pasta (she was starving), with wine, plus dessert plus chocolate for dessert. This was a high-sugar, high-carb diet, with very little protein or good fats, poor hydration and minimum fruit and veg. AFTERWARDS Breakfast A glass of water with lemon juice, 2 two poached eggs, a grilled tomato. 11am - Hummus with cucumber, celery sticks, water or fruit tea. 2pm - Chicken, fish, or beans with a large seven veg salad, avocado, chickpeas, olive oil and vinegar. Nonsalted nuts are a great source of good fats too. 4pm - An apple with peanut butter, water. Dinner at 7pm - Lean meat or fish with four portions of veg and a small portion of grains, such as wild rice,
quinoa or gluten-free pasta. There was protein with every meal, a minimum of seven portions of veg per day, eight glasses of water, good portions of healthy fat with every meal, no alcohol for five days per week, no tea or coffee, minimum amounts of bread, wheat and dairy, with a massively reduced sugar intake, but unlimited good healthy nutritious food.
Exercise
We decided on no long cardio workouts, no spin and no aerobic classes for six weeks. The focus was growing lean muscle mass, with lots of lifting weights, across all the big muscle groups, legs, back, bottom, abs, chest, shoulders, doing a wide range of movements, squats, deadlifts, bench press, lunges, shoulder press, each training session would be followed by a 12 to 20 minute intense body weight workout, for a maximum, fat-burning cardio vascular workout. Sue committed to training four times per week, some were personal training sessions, others were group sessions, but even on a non-training day she became active, walking, swimming, anything that made her move, for at least 20 minutes per day. Sue was a great success story, she was motivated and committed and went from hating exercise to being totally BEFORE passionate and knowledgeable Body weight: about it. Every Tuesday morning from 9.30 to 10.30am at Bliss and every Thursday morning from 9.30am to 10.30am at Bel Air, circuits and nutritional advice are offered free to participants. The camps run for eight weeks and are open to male and female applicants of any age and any size. An initial assessment of all applicants is made to determine suitable weightloss goals and suggestions to health, diet and wellbeing are offered by Jules Kearley, Co-owner and head therapist at Bliss and certified wellness coach. “The purpose of the camps are to
give people much-needed nutritional and weightloss advice using some of the world´s leading nutritional products,” Jules said.
CASE STUDY
RUTH STEVENSON FROM THE BLUE PALM RESTAURANT, MARBELLA. I look forward to Thursday mornings and the Fitcamp because Jules and Inez are so positive and encouraging. I go to the gym and other classes, but this is different in that you are in competition with yourself only, bettering your performance from last week or lifting slightly heavier weights. For example I now do 44 press-ups in a minute when I started I was doing 32. The class is really
welcoming because we are all different ages, weights, shapes and levels and none of that matters, as we are all there to improve ourselves and have a giggle too. I have seen improvements since I joined in February and the Herbalife products make me feel better and healthier inside too! I have even got my couch potato husband to come with me and he loves it too! Ruth has lost several kilos since starting as well as increasing muscle mass. She is just one of many people who have benefitted from coming to Fitcamp and using Herbalife Products. For details call Jules on +34 647 154 635

INFUSCHIA “PAN-ASIAN DINING AT ITS BEST”

f you are looking to sample some of the best sushi and Pan-Asian cuisine on the coast you have come to the right place. The elaborate Infuschia menu, compiled by none other than celebrity chef Ian Pengelley from the likes of Gilgamesh and Nozomi in London, ensures this is going to be a five-star dining experience like no other. From the watermelon and prawn gazpacho starter accompanying our plush sushi platter entree to the chicken wings, sticky chinese ribs; every mouthful was heavenly. Infuschia will definitely not disappoint even the most discerning of sushi connoisseurs - with a vast selection of every imaginable type, including Maki Rolls, Niguiri Mix and Sashimi in

salmon, tuna, seabass and prawn. Portion sizes in Infuschia are generous, the fish delightfully fresh and even accompanying presentational touches such as the spicy sesame sauce and wasabi foam swirls were not purely decorative, adding superb taste explosions to the sushi selection. When we moved onto the main courses we were equally impressed by both the selection and presentation. By far the best dish was the chef´s recommendation of Bulgogi, succulent beef layered on a bed of mash with a sweet, sticky sauce. The Coconut Rice, Beef Panang, Chicken Satay with Chilli and Thai Curry dips were also fantastic. Infuschia also offer great set menu options, which combines up to 10 top dishes on the menu, for only €35 a head. The newly renovated restaurant is situated inside
GASTRONOMY iconic Puerto Banus nightspot, Tibu and it´s as decadent as you would expect. White walled with drapes, UV lighting and chandeliers adorning the high ceiling - it is definitely a cool and edgy place to start a night out. As is synonymous with its sister nightclub, Tibu, there is a young, gorgeous crowd to boost. The latest deep house chill out music playing in the restaurant definitely adds to its ambience. Another plus for Infuschia is its open balcony location, only one minute from the port in Antonio Banderes Square, making this a great place to people watch. The staff at Infuschia were also incredibly friendly and attentive. The Maître D Nacho, was on hand the entire
evening ensuring our glasses were always topped up and dishes came out regularly. In summary, if you haven´t already guessed it, this is an amazing restaurant. We are convinced the few uncomplimentary Trip Advisor reviews come from rival Marbella restaurants!! Ignore them, as this place is superb, combining the best Thai, Chinese and Japanese influences into one delectable menu. Infuschia is open 7 days a week from 7pm till late. T
his is something we often hear from teenagers, and if they are not shouting it out loud, you can be sure they are thinking it to themselves. What they are saying is often true; at times you don’t understand them, and they don’t understand you. This happens because adults and teenagers have different perspectives and a different order of priorities.
Does this scene seem familiar?
Your teenage daughter is taking forever in the bathroom (again), but you need her to get ready so you can get to work on time. You’re thinking, “How could I have raised such an inconsiderate girl? I’m going to be late, why doesn’t she care?’ Meanwhile, your daughter is locked in the bathroom, consumed with her image in the mirror. She’s thinking, ‘There is no way I am going to school with this massive pimple on my face, or I feel fat, I look fat, nothing looks good on me. I want to hide.’ You start pounding on the door, yelling at her to hurry up. She screams, “God, you just don’t understand! Leave me alone!” You wonder, ‘Why does she have to fight me on everything, why can’t she just be ready on time?’ Your daughter gives you the silent treatment all the way to school, consumed in her own worries and negative feelings. In a situation like this, the daughter perhaps cares more about her appearance, and acceptance from her peer group and her mother may care more about getting to work on time, and job loss risk; different priorities, based on strong personal values.
What can you do to help the situation?
REMOVE EMOTIONALITY: Instead of pounding on the door, accept the situation this time, because under time pressure emotional reactions won’t help. Instead plan a time to talk, when emotions are calm. If you think about it, until you understand the reason for your teenager’s behaviour, any emotion you have is based on your own issues and fears and should be managed by you, and not projected onto others. When you are better at managing yourself, you can also teach and inspire
PSYCHOLOGY
Tip
For this particular issue, you can use encouragement to build up your teens self-esteem from within, not based on outer appearance, and work with acceptance to help them realise that sometimes we all get pimples, that we cannot make them go away instantly, and that we can let it upset us or we can put our mind on other issues, because it’s how we choose to deal with it that determines how we feel.
others. SHOW THAT YOU UNDERSTAND: Try saying, “I understand how difficult it is for you when you don’t feel confident with how you look.” Suggest sitting down and finding ways to feel better even when hormones are playing mayhem. Offering to help create a solution helps teenagers to open up instead of feeling a need to be defensive. ASK OPEN ENDED QUESTIONS: Let your teen see that your ears are open and you want to try to understand them. Don’t ask loaded questions that put your teen on the defensive: ‘Why can’t you get be ready on time? What’s wrong with you?’ Instead, ask openended questions: ‘How does it make you feel when you get pimples?’ and ‘I wonder how other teenagers feel and manage?’ Asking open ended questions shows your teen that you want to understand and that you recognise they have within them the wisdom to create a more positive perspective or solution. EXPRESS YOUR FEELINGS WITH ‘I MESSAGES’: ‘It makes me anxious when I am running late for work, because I fear losing my job or creating a bad
atmosphere with my colleagues ’. Don’t say ‘You make me stressed and angry when you make me late’. Projecting your fears onto your teenager will create a defensive wall, rightly so. Expressing your feelings with ‘I messages’ is healthy and gives them permission to express how they feel. This breeds understanding.
Use Active Listening:
● Listen to the reasons your daughter gives for being upset. ● Make sure you understand what she is telling you— from her point of view. ● Repeat her words, and ask if you have understood them correctly. ● Ask if anything remains unspoken, giving her time to think before answering. ● Resist the temptation to interject your own point of view until she has said everything she wants to say and feels that you have listened to and understood her message. It is okay if at first we do not understand, perhaps no one gave us the tools. There are now many tools and techniques that we can seek and learn to help us to learn to understand each other.

So if anyone is interested I will be at Barnes & Nobles in the local mall signing books from 11:00am until I am escorted out by security. So get there early.

t’s that time of year again – Wimbledon! And how better to celebrate than to throw a lavish pre-Wimbledon party at Kensington Palace. Boris Becker was the guest of honour at the party, which was hosted by Vogue and Ralph Lauren. The Palace was invaded by a flurry of stars including the gorgeous Lily James, Game of Thrones star Gwendoline Christie, Jessica Chastain, pop princess Mollie King and Kate Moss’ younger model sister, Lottie.

Film premieres seem to have dominated the London scene in recent months. From Entourage to the Minions, Hot Pursuit and Jurassic World, these films are a must see this summer. The super talented cast of Entourage have been travelling the globe to promote their long awaited film, which is a continuation of the adventures of film star Vincent Chase and his close ensemble of friends. Kevin Connolly, Adrian Grenier, Kevin Dillon, Jerry Ferrara and Jeremy Piven reunite in this film filled with comedy and debauchery. Doug Ellin the creator of the critically

acclaimed show directs the film, so it’s sure to be a winner. Despicable Me have embarked on a neverending journey thanks to our favourite little yellow minions. Sandra Bullock, Jon Hamm, Michael Keaton and Steve Carell came out in full force to promote the highly anticipated sequel. The three main minions, Stuart, Kevin and Bob are recruited by super-villain Scarlet Overkill, voiced by Sandra Bullock, and her husband Herb, voiced by Jon Hamm, to hatch a plot to take over the world. With such a talented cast, (and of course our loveable minions) the film is likely to rake in millions at the box office this July. When Reese Witherspoon and Sofia Vergara teamed up for Hot Pursuit, we all knew we’d be in for a treat. The sexy senoritas turned up the heat at their latest premiere in Mexico. The gorgeous duo both wore figure hugging scarlet dresses to accentuate their enviable frames. Reese Witherspoon looked a far cry from her character; policeman Cooper. In the film uptight cop Cooper unwillingly teams up with Vergara’s character, Daniella who’s a widow of a drug boss, in order to protect her from murderous gunmen and crooked cops. Jurassic World has taken the box office by storm. The highly anticipated sequel is now on track to beat the box office records of both Avengers films, and it also has a chance at beating Avatar. The official plot summary – “22 years after the events of Jurassic Park, Isla Nublar now features a fully functioning dinosaur theme park, Jurassic World, as originally envisioned by John Hammond. This new park is owned by the Patel Corporation. Owen, a member of Jurassic World’s on-site staff, conducts behavioural

After many years, Jurassic World’s attendance rates begin to decline and a new attraction, created to re-spark visitor interest, gravely backfires.” There has been so much hype surrounding The X Factor line-up for 2015. It seems as though the show is keeping some harmony on the panel with a comeback from Cheryl Fernandez-Versini and notorious mogul Simon Cowell. The show seems to have spiced things up though by adding two newcomers, Rita Ora and Nick Grimshaw. Rita Ora isn’t entirely new…she has previously been recruited as a guest judge in the past, however Nick Grimshaw is
sure to set tongues wagging as the newbie to the line-up.

MARBELLA ROCKS ASTROLOGY FORECAST JULY 2015
Aries
Gemini
Leo
If others haven’t twigged that there’s a little bit of the superstar about you now, the attention you’re setting both at work and play should ensure they can’t miss the spotlight you’re standing in. Expect to turn heads - and in more ways than one. Romance could start hot - and stay that way. All this panache you’re exuding turns even the most mundane task into fun with the result that you become not just the sign that everyone wants to party with, but the one they want to work with too. Passion is contagious and that light-hearted and playful outlook of yours means that not only is pleasure your takeaway from any situation, others benefit too. You’re on a roll and it may appear no-one can say ‘no’ so use this to your advantage and ask for whatever it is you want. That’s the secret - those unafraid to ask, almost always get a ‘yes’.
Something gathers momentum this month, but chances are you are the one that sets the wheels in motion. Be prepared for your actions to snowball now - even though it’s July! The first news of just what you have initiated could reach you as early as the second week of the month, and take some time to think through the long term impactions of your actions now. You are in a prime position to increase your finances, broker your talents or act as your own agent. This is not a time to undersell yourself or your skills. Romance may just add to the rollercoaster feeling now and just adds to that feeling that you’re on a roll. The pace speeds up with lots of travel, meetings, invitations or places to be and people to be with and good news or a breakthrough of some kind could be yours when it all finally slows at the end of the month. Ride that success train now.
Stretch yourself and reach for the stars. If you have felt they have been tantalisingly out of reach, you’ll now find them within your grasp provided you make the effort. Just what is it your heart wants to experience or achieve in the next 12 months? Although everything is aligned in your favour this doesn’t mean it’s about to drop in to your lap. Remember, heaven helps those who help themselves. Wonderful aspects for love and success should act as catalysts, boosting your confidence and allowing you to step fearlessly in the direction of your dreams unencumbered. Those people, situations and fears that have tarnished your glow have no place on this journey. Your desires represent a destination on the map your soul was given - even if you don’t understand the twists and turns of the journey. Take that first step and trust where you are being taken.
Taurus
Cancer
Virgo
Let’s talk about the love you gave up on, Taurus and by that I don’t just mean an actual lover (although this may be what returns to you now). Reconnecting to love can sometimes mean re-embracing something we loved to do or a dream we once had. This month offers a rediscovery of pleasure and hope on some level. If you’re willing to give yourself or another a second chance, the payoff could be bigger than you ever expected. The lesson is what’s meant for you has your name on it and can’t be taken from you - and this includes everything from that home, that job, that lover or that activity that makes your heart sing. Now is not the time to care about what other people think. The important thing to remain focused on is… does it bring you happiness? Let the critics stew in their own sourness now and don’t worry - be happy!
It’s your time for new beginnings and to shed your skin to emerge as just what exactly? You get to colour your own wings and decide now. Above all, leave what no longer works for you - anything from that hairstyle to a job, in the past now. You’re carrying on with the party even when your birthday season comes to an end - and why not? Mid month especially could give you something to celebrate as doors of opportunity open to welcome this new you. You may be different but everything old seems new again and this could be because you are looking at it with fresh eyes. This month promises fun and with some bank accounting boosting opportunities thrown in for good measure. As for love - that seems new too, no matter how long you’ve been involved. Seeing the world through fresh eyes makes you fall in love with love - and life, all over again.
Lovers have to share your values and high standards now or it’s just not going to work. Picky? Maybe, or perhaps you just have a better grasp of what you need to make love work than others. Opportunities to put this to the test for some may present themselves this month. Just remember that some things in life are too important to compromise on and refuse to be led astray on this. When it comes to possible candidates for your heart or for your expertise in business or at work for that matter, bear in mind that your first impression is usually the correct one. If unsure, take your time. The chances of you settling for the superficial now are about 10 trillion to one as you want a partner who is as committed to exploring the deeper side of love as you are and in knowing what makes them tick. Chances are if you discover the one you’re with can’t meet you half way, you’ll attract the one who will.

Libra
Sagittarius
Aquarius
Someone may keep you guessing about their long term (or even short term) intentions. Friends? With benefits or without? Are they or aren’t they? Do they or don’t they? Before you get on that merry-goround, ask yourself is it really worth wasting your time on someone who either can’t commit, won’t commit or is just waiting to see if they get a better offer? You already know the answer to that. If it looks like hard work, it’s probably not worth it so follow the fun instead. Friends and social events offer the antidote you seek. Old connections and haunts provide fresh opportunities. A new career phase could be in the process of unfolding from the 16th, but an old contact may be instrumental in opening the door to it. As if that wasn’t enough you have a blue moon shining in your love zone this month. Time wasters? Really, your diary is going to be far too full.
Like a bolt from the blue comes news you neither expected or had given up on ever receiving. Don’t worry, when I say this may take your breath away, I mean this in a positive sense. There’s a feeling of release in all of this, as if doors that have been closed are now thrown open wide as you realise in fact, this is what you have wanted to hear for a very long time. Travel and recognition on some level may form part of this. It’s a once-in-ablue-Moon opportunity and yes, we have one this month. When it comes to love, give someone who’s not your usual ‘type’ a chance. You’re usually attracted to the adventurous, out-going, free-spirited types like yourself. However, not everyone who wears a suit is a stuffed shirt and a conventional exterior can hide the soul of someone wild-at-heart, so bear this in mind. If you do, you may just strike gold with the perfect balance of the love you can rely on yet sets you free.
You’re the sign of the blue moon this month (2nd full month in a month) and you’ll be seeking what you feel is your share of attention, adoration, success and all things that fall under the general category of good times. If you have been putting your own needs aside in favour of others recently, it may be time to address that as well as any tendency to steer clear of the limelight or in taking on more responsibility at work. It’s time to know you deserve your share of the spoils - be they emotional or material. Lovers or someone close to you may surprise you with a sudden about-face allowing you to reach the compromise you’ve been looking for. Perhaps as a result of you realising things had gotten out-of-kilter. It’s not so much about having to demand what’s rightfully yours - just about becoming more aware of the imbalances we ourselves create. If lack of love is yours - everything must blanace now.
Scorpio
Capricorn
Pisces
You could be put in a position where you have to draw on your wealth of experience or show others just how far you’ve come. If they have been dismissing you as a lightweight - this will be a heavy lesson for them. It’s time to make in-roads professionally and be seen as someone who knows their stuff and is not afraid to state their opinion. Whatever you do, do not be a ‘yes’ man or woman now as this will get you nowhere. Romantically this month offers the chance of one of the most star-struck periods of the year to either meet that perfect package - sex and depth? Oh, yes pah-leeze! Or else, others could make a surprising re-encounter with a blast from the past and find that flame is still burning. Don’t forget you’re the sign of the phoenix and like you, love will rise again.
Travel could reconnect you to something from your past. You could return to old haunts or if going somewhere new, have the distinct feeling of déjà vu and that you’ve been there before. Consider the fact you may have. New beginnings in partnerships beckon and singles could be looking at the start of something that goes the distance. Just remember that in order to have something new, something old must be given up first. This can be anything from an existing to connection, to just hanging on to those old love letters and thoughts about what might have been. Set your sights on the future and stop looking back - there’s nothing now to be seen. If you’re still waiting for love to arrive, work on your relationship to your money this month. They both share the same energy. Upgrade one, and the other quickly follows.
Wishing that someone will come along and rescue you or ‘fix’ those pesky, Piscean problems is not your solution now. Instead draw on those deep reserves you keep so well hidden - usually from yourself, and if you’re swimming solo, become your own Prince or Princess Charming. The upside of being able to slay your own dragons is that you attract someone equally strong. You need to prepare as you are entering one of the best periods of 2015 for romance and attracting that soulmate you’ve always dreamed of. By all means get clear on the qualities you want them to have and then work on developing them in yourself first. Really, hanging out of that tower window and yelling ‘Help!’ is not a good look and you need to understand that you are more capable than you know. Channel your inner Daenerys Targaryen and ride your dragon - don’t wait for anyone to come to slay it.

inside when I see her on TV. Tragic just tragic!! IDEAL DINNER PARTY GUEST? Jimmy Bullard. I´ve met him a few times here and he invited us to his table one night a couple of years back and he was just the funniest dude ever. BEST ADVICE EVER GIVEN? Get a real job!!! I didn’t take the advice but it was a sensible option! I was crazy to think I could just decide to become a singer and make a decent career from it! Here I am 5 years later, travelled the world! What does that tell you.
Peet Rothwell has lived in Marbella for 8 years now. He is a fitness expert and personal trainer by day and performs as a Bublé tribute by night to packed out audiences in the Puente Romano, La Sala and The Don Carlos among others.
WHAT ARE YOU LISTENING TO? Actually totally randomly listening to Jose Gonzales while I’m writing this! But mainly nu-metal and heavy ass rock while training!! IF YOU WERE AN ANIMAL WHAT WOULD YOU BE? Koala! I am already pretty much one, hairy, lazy, dopey and love a good hug!! FUNNIEST PICK UP LINE USED ON YOU? “You can sing for me anytime” or “I’ll make you sing”!!
WHEN AND HOW DID YOU REALISE YOU COULD IMPERSONATE BUBLE? It was the opposite way around actually, I was toying with becoming a singer and looking for material to suit the ex-pats and I stumbled across this dude who wore a suit and sang all the oldies, half my work was done by singing his songs!
get a little irate as my focus switches between the two but I have always liked to keep occupied and don’t like to stand still.
WHAT IS THE BEST THING ABOUT BEING A PERFORMER? The audiences and the people I meet. When the crowd are up for it and on point, I get an energy from them and we generally have a great but slightly stupid and silly night.
IF YOU HAD TO TAKE THREE THINGS TO A DESERT ISLAND, WHAT WOULD THEY BE? Well I’m functional and have watched all Bear Grylls so I’d be pretty nifty in that situation so knife, flint and my mobile phone and solar camping charger. I´ve got to Instagram a pic of the hut I make, haven´t I?!
BEST CHARACTER TRAIT? I’m funny as hell!! Or I’m giving or something like that, I’m certain I’m a nice guy, so i´ll stick with that one!
WHAT ALL THE GIRLS WANT TO KNOW, ARE YOU SINGLE? It’s complicated but not counting my iPhone then yes I’m flying solo for now!
BEST THING ABOUT MARBELLA? Oh come on! THE RAIN haha see I’m funny.
WHAT´S THE WORST? It can be a lonely profession to be in. You don’t have workmates so to speak and at some points I had been flying every week, sometimes twice. Plane rides and hotels on your own wears a little thin after a while. HOW DID YOU GET INTO FITNESS AND PERSONAL TRAINING? It was a change of lifestyle. I decided to stop drinking alcohol and start eating healthily. Soon I realised how it had helped my feeble effort at training and as I got into better shape I decided to take on the challenge of competing. HOW DO YOU JUGGLE BOTH BUSY CAREERS? With great difficulty, people tend to
126 MARBELLAROCKS | ISSUE 12
WHAT COULDN’T YOU LIVE WITHOUT? My mobile, I’m the worst. I try to distance myself but we always end up back together (haha!)
WHAT DO YOU LOOK FOR IN A GIRL? Someone genuine and normal, I know that sounds generic but this town isn’t the best place to find such simple qualities. I also spend that much time in the gym and meal prepping and talking about training, I don’t think most non like-minded girls would put up with me (!) so yeah, being a gym lover would help! MOST FANCIED CELEBRITY? Giorgia Salpa or Aaliyah. I still die a little
WHAT DID YOU WANT TO BE GROWING UP? Paleontologist! Digging up dinosaurs and stuff. I actually used to study when I was like 8, like proper study it!! There’s still time!!
FRIDAY NIGHT OUT OR SUNDAY DAY IN? Sunday day in, movies or a series and cheat meal. But too busy to do either!!
WORST THING? Too many things, Don’t get me started I’m in a good mood. But if I have to pick…roundabouts, what the hell is it all about. Kamakaze. PLANS FOR THE FUTURE? Become a champion, get a huskey, become a father and hope to finish this Interview one day Haha, Lol’s and LMFAO. Twitter: @Peet_Rothwell Instagram: @Peetfitnessmarbella
