PEOPLE ARE HUNGRY TO HEAR HE MESSAGE YOU HAVE TO GIVE The door of opportunity for us to share the gospel of Jesus Christ have never been so wide open. From Eastern Europe to the jungles of the Amazon, from the crowded cities of Asia to the villages of Africa, people are hungry to hear the message you have to give.

In 1953, I went on my first outreach. I was a teenager at the time and I went with some other teens into Mexico. We preached in our broken Spanish and were absolutely amazed that God could use us to reach into another culture and win people for Jesus. Today, the needs in the world are enormous and at times frightening. While we continue to share the love of Jesus in places of great need around the world, I can assure you that our experienced outreach staff do so only after prayerfully and carefully considering the risks involved. We are committed to your safety and to helping you discover where God is leading you to serve.

No matter where you may be in lifeyoung or old, single or married (with families too!), skilled or unskilled, from any nation or denominational backgraound-God has a calling for your life. By asking God where He wants you to serve and moving out in obedience to His calling, you will experience firsthand His faithfulness and the joy of seeing His kingdom extended. This guidebook is full of opportunities and resources to help you find your place in God’s wonderful plan. As you read, I want to encourage you to pray about how you can be a part of what God is doing throughout the world.

OUR STORY The journey of the YWAM Island Breeze Sydney campus is one full of faith and God’s providence. Since the 1st of April 2007, God has begun to rise up this campus for mighty works, for reaching the nations and its indigenous peoples. Sydney has been called “the gateway” in and out of the nations and God has strategically re-established the presence of a faithful YWAM ministry in the area of Western Sydney, which is the lowest socio-economic area in Sydney. It started as a feeling in 2006 that God was prompting Etienne Pieterse and his family to move to Sydney to pioneer the YWAM ministry there, after its closing a few years prior. In March of 2007, Etienne, his wife, Tania and their children, Chloe and Elisha, packed up their car and drove to Sydney. Even without a place to stay, they went with the assurance that God had called them there.

When the first outreach team arrived in Sydney, their first task was to build the beds in which they would be sleeping in at a house acquired that very same day. After the trip, a seasoned leader called it “the best outreach they ever had.” As all visitors to the YWAM Island Breeze Sydney are, they were part of a movement. May of 2007 kicked off ten days of prayer at the base. Through this time, God began to shape the atmosphere of prayer, worship and the Word. The team could feel God beginning to move, shaping their ministries and the very land around them. To those they had ministered to, God brought healing, revival and salvation. In those first two months, they saw over 30 people give their lives to the Lord. In September 2007, they held their first Discipleship Training School (DTS) with 7 students from 6 different nations. Since then we

have run over 10 DTS’s and have had more than 300 students, continuing to always have multi-cultural DTS’s. The campus also offers multiple second-level schools beyond DTS, such as Transformational Leadership Seminar, School of Worshipping Warriors and Biblical Core Course. God is also growing staff, from 5 in 2007 to more than three times that number in a few months and still growing today with 30 staff from all different nations.

The Discipleship

p Training School DTS is an intensive Christian training course beginning with an 11-12 week lecture/teaching phase followed by an 8-12 week practical field assignment. It is an exciting time to set aside to learn more about who God is, who we are as believers and how He wants to partner with us to see the nations impacted and reached for His kingdom.
