TINKERTECH CAMPS

TINKERTECH CAMPS Do you have a creative student who loves to build and code? If yes, register now for this fun camp that helps them discover the powerful combination of programming, design and engineering. Our popular enrichment program from TinkerTech returns to San Anselmo this summer with camps for ages 7-11 led by TinkerTech teachers and counselors who are passionate about STEAM (Science Technology Engineering Art and Math).

Join this small group camp where students rotate daily through fun coding projects, engineering challenges and team games. New activities each week indoors and outside at Memorial Park, details below. Bring a packed lunch, sunscreen and be ready to make friends!

MICROBITS, ELECTRONICS AND A FASHION SHOW

TINKERCAD, SCRATCH AND PAPER CREATIONS

Discover what you can create with microbit, a pocket-sized computer that helps students explore how software and hardware work together. Learn to use the LED display, buttons, sensors and input/output features and put it all together in this week’s team challenge to make wearable fashion and costume accessories for our end of week show.

Discover CAD (computer-aided design) using Tinkercad software from Autodesk, level up your coding skills with Scratch, and work as a team to build creative paper designs using origami as inspiration.

The teacher for TinkerTech camps Weeks 5, 7, 8 & 9 this year is Ellie Buehler. Ellie is an experienced teacher who is passionate about engaging the next generation of engineers to discover STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) through hands-on projects. A graduate in electrical engineering from MIT, she was a XBox Design Engineer at Microsoft before she decided to specialize in teaching. Ellie has run an engineering class for girls, taught a robotics program in Berkeley High School, and ran a Fab Lab for K-12 students in New Orleans before moving to Marin County with her family. When she is not teaching, she enjoys walking with her young son and exploring the trails around San Geronimo Valley. Her favorite project to date was building a five foot tall model of the Eiffel Tower with her students for the New Orleans French Quarter Festival.
