Orange360 #allyearround
Tourism marketing in the Orange region is off to a fresh start with the launch of a new brand and organisation known as Orange360. Launched last Thursday at the Orange Visitor Information Centre, General Manager of Orange360, and local Canowindra resident Caddie Marshall, said that Orange360 represents a united all year round approach to tourism, promoting the Orange region as a distinct destination and gateway to discovering the surrounding historic villages. “The tourism marketing brand for Orange has undergone an evolution through the years from Taste Orange to Brand Orange to Orange Region Tourism and now Or-
ange360,” said Ms Marshall. “Orange360 encompasses everything that colours our region, all year round and for the first time is a collaboration between the local councils of Orange, Cabonne and Blayney and our surrounding villages.” “Orange360 is focused on driving increased visitation and economic benefit across the entire region. Over 1 million visitors already explore our region every year and the purpose of our new brand is to invite these people to further discover all the wonders and gems that are unique to us - our people, our places and our produce,” said Caddie. We also developed a brand reference group representative of the businesses across the Orange region including the wine, retail, food, arts, and indigenous sectors who provided local feedback.” “This extensive consultation resulted in a brand that will continue to support our tourism sector and volunteer groups that host our unique festivals that celebrate our history, our food and wine. It speaks to our foundation in gold and farming, and our landscapes awash with golden hues. We are deeply proud of our history, our villages and love to show off our landscapes and four distinct seasons.” “With such a diverse choice of activities, attractions and events across our region, a new website is under construction that will make it easy for visitors to navigate the full spectrum of experiences on offer. Whether they are coming to enjoy one of the region’s marquee food and wine events, to experience our historic villages and authentic country lifestyle or to simply relax and unwind, it will all live at their fingertips,”

said Ms Marshall. Orange360, together with each of the Councils, is also developing a Village Viability Strategy to support each Village Association to market and encourage visitation as well as improving links between each of the villages. Cabonne Mayor Kevin Beatty said: “The launch of the region’s exciting new tourism brand Orange360 is integral in uniting our three councils and establishing our unique identity as a major destination. Our cooperative working relationship in turn will help to identify the region and ensure it stands out. This in turn will drive tourists to experience our region’s many products, towns and villages.” The new Orange360 website will be ready in time to promote our regions spring offerings. If you are a business wanting to learn more about Orange360, membership for 2018/19 is now open and all local tourism service businesses are encouraged to contact the Orange360 team on 6361 7271.

Jump Start Arts Grant Announced
The Year 6 and Year 5/6 Class cheering on the students running.
Monster Marathon Runners
The Year 6 and Year 5/6 class at Canowindra Public School ran their annual Monster Marathon Fundraiser last Friday in and around the school. The children ran around the school all day and managed an incredible total of 963km, with student and keen runner Colby Burling putting in an awesome effort running a total of 44km! The students were fundraising for the Year 6 gift that they give to the school at the end of the year. Each student has sponsorship forms where they could either be sponsored for their individual number of laps or for the total number of laps run by the whole class. All sponsorship forms are due back to the school by this Friday so there is still time to sponsor a student. Well done to all involved, we bet there were some tired legs on Friday night! Colby Burling ran 44km on Friday!
The Orange Regional Arts Foundation is excited to announce a new grant to its arts support grant program. The Orange Regional Arts Foundation (ORAF) works to provide ongoing support for the arts in the region. The Foundation has allocated up to $5,000 annually to support the development of local artists through the Jump Start Arts Grant. The Orange Regional Arts Foundation aims to support and encourage the development of the Visual and Performing Arts in the Orange Region. The grants program can also increase the public conscience and awareness of the importance of the Arts in our community. President of ORAF Kathy Snowball said “The main aim of 'Jump Start' is to enable artist/s from the Orange region to further develop their skills or improve their capacity to build an enduring career in the arts. We also would like to support people who show potential to access arts skills development opportunities.” The Jump Start Program can support a broad range of activities such as skills and professional development, workshops, mentorships, showcases, residencies or other projects directly related to your arts skills development. Jump Start is open to emerging artists in any artform, who reside in the Orange region (Local Government Areas of Orange, Cabonne and Blayney.) You must be an Australian citizen or have Australian permanent residency. An emerging artist is someone in the early stage of their career. It refers to the stage you are at in your career rather than your age. The closing date for applications is 30th September. For more information about the grant process please visit www.oraf.org.au

Canowindra Bowling Club AED Grant Great News For Community
CANOWINDRA SPORT
Canowindra Tigers 2018 First Grade team on Sunday before taking on Grenfell. (Picture by Narelle Hughes)
CANOWINDRA TIGERS The Tigers game against Grenfell last Sunday was one of the best games of bush footy in sometime some of the supporters have said. The Tigers welcomed back Callum Clyburn who scored from dummy half to give the Tigers a half time lead of 18-16. Laughlan Robinson from the kick off stopped the ball with his foot and ran to pick it up then sliced through the Grenfell defence and stepped two more players and ran 60m to score next to the post for the Tigers to lead 24-16. Through some soft defence Grenfell hit back with a set play to narrow the gap. Both sides were playing a good style of football trying to gain an advantage.
Thursday 5 July 2018 Page 5
With 14 minutes left Grenfell had a player sent off and from the penalty the Tigers had a set play with Brad Bowman charging onto the ball to score next to the post to go to a 36-28 lead. The next 10 minutes were very entertaining. From twenty in the Tigers gained field possession and from a wide ball to Dan Madden, he was able to seal the game with a try in the corner. Tigers won 40 to 28. Next week the Tigers travel to Manildra and if successful, will move into third position on the table. Best and Fairest Points 3 to Nathan Whatman, 2 to Nick Willson and 1 to Kain Earsman, Jayden Brown and Lachlan Robinson. Players Player went to Nick Willson. By Barry Traves
The Canowindra Bowling Club has been successful in their application for a NSW Office of Sport Community Defibrillator grant. The initiative will see the club fitted out with a fully automatic defibrillator (AED) that can be used on any victim of Sudden Cardiac Arrest. With a defibrillator at hand, along with very good CPR, the chances of surviving a Sudden Cardiac Arrest goes from a mere 6% to 8% up to more than 60% or 70%! As part of the grant, Carpet Hughes from the Defibshop will present to the community on Sudden Cardiac Arrest – what is it, how does it occur, how to recognise it and importantly how to treat it and how to use the defibrillator for an event. “The presentation is more than a first aid course in regards to Sudden Cardiac Arrest,” said Mr Hughes. Carpet is an Intensive Care Paramedic with well over twenty years of clinical experience responding to such events and having successful outcomes. He will share practical knowledge and experiences to make sure all attending walk away confident of using the AED and ready to save a life! The presentation is FREE. It is to be held on Wednesday 11th July 2018 at the Canowindra Bowling Club at 5:30pm. All attendees will be issued a certificate of attendance.

Save The Date!
Nerida Cuddy wants to let people know about an event coming up in Term 3. On September 7th and 8th the “Beanshed” Drama School will present a production of The Hobbit. Nerida has been directing a wonderful group of about 25 young people from Canowindra from all three schools in town to prepare the play of The Hobbit. This production features original songs by current and former Canowindra residents based on lyrics by JRR Tolkien, along with dancing, great costumes, and lots of action - spiders, goblins, elves, dwarves, dragons, a wizard - and of course, a Hobbit! It will be a lot of fun, so save the date! The play was last performed in Canowindra by the original Beanshed Productions, and was actually performed in a Beanshed (where our drama school got it's name!). It is fun to be presenting it afresh, about 16 years later! Interestingly, quite a few Canowindra young people 'cut their dramatic/musical teeth' performing the Hobbit, back in 2002, and some have gone on to have careers in music or drama.
There will be a morning schools performance plus an evening performance on the 7th September and then an afternoon performance on the 8th September. For more information contact Nerida Cuddy on nerida@cornerstone.edu.au

COMMUNITYNotices The CORRIDOR project have recently received two significant grants one from Create NSW for BIG little histories of Canowindra to assist with the production scheduled for October 20th-21st 2018. The other is through the Regional Cultural Fund for a project called MOVE Museum of Vast Exchange.
The CORRIDOR Project Secures Funding
Big little histories of Canowindra is a multi art-form event that interweaves four significant local histories, including Devonian fish, Aboriginal, Agricultural, and Bushranger history. The event will continue a legacy of innovative material developed for public interest for the Canowindra, Cowra, Grenfell Historical Societies and Age of Fishes Museum. These histories will be linked through a community event whilst activating one of Canowindra's most significant historical precincts, scheduled for October 20th-21st 2018. Site specific works include multi-media projections, installation, soundscape, multi-arts and indigenous language. The event will be staged as a non-linear installation and performances will take place between Canowindra Silos, Canowindra Historical Museum, Age of Fishes Museum, Swinging Bridge and the Royal Hotel. Deputy Premier Mr John Barilaro recently announced that $142,715 will allow for the development of MOVE – Museum of Vast
Exchange – developed by the CORRIDOR project located near Cowra. MOVE is a temporal museum based on a commercial building typology providing a hermetic environment to connect arts, site and communities. The concept for MOVE is born out of a recognition that there are severe restrictions and limitations for the display of gallery and museum based exhibitions outside of major institutions. The proposed MOVE space will not only provide access to a range of contemporary art experiences for regional areas, it also has the potential for diverse applications including international touring, destination art initiatives, exhibitions at cultural and music festivals, art fairs and international biennales. "These inventive projects will give locals and visitors a fresh experience, boost tourism dollars, create jobs and act as a community focal point,” Mr Barilaro said. Member for Cootamundra Steph Cooke congratulated everyone involved in helping secure the funding win.

PEACOCKES solicitors Family Dispute Resolution
The Family Law Act requires that before applying to the court for a parenting order a person must make a genuine effort to resolve their dispute by family dispute resolution. This is not marriage counselling but attending mediation services that are designed to help couples resolve their disputes without needing to go to court. A genuine effort in good faith must be made by both parents participating in the mediation process. Unnecessarily postponing meetings, refusing to agree on small matters, shifting your position when agreement is in sight; adopting a non-negotiable position are some instances of not participating in good faith. If mediation fails, the mediator will issue each participant with an attendance certificate which is then filed with a court application for parenting orders. When attending mediation usually each person participating will meet with the mediator, in some cases the mediator may require each participant to undergo some counselling or training to prepare them for mediation. Mediation can be conducted by telephone, in separate rooms or face to face. The mediator facilitates discussions between the participants helping them explore dispute resolving options. If agreement is reached, a parenting plan in writing signed and dated by the attendees may be produced. The plan may outline who the children will live with, how the children will spend time with each parent, communication between parents and each child, how the plan will be updated and so on. A parenting plan can be made into a Court order for which legal assistance is needed. Given its importance, you should seek legal advice as part of your preparation for mediation. Geoff Yeo from Peacockes Solicitors can assist so call today on 0448 673 924.

CANOWINDRA SPORT
The Canowindra Pythons in action!
CANOWINDRA PYTHONS On Saturday the Pythons played host to the Harden Devils. The Canowindra boys started the game strong with Tom Roth opening the account with a dash down the sideline to score a 5 pointer and Rob Burns converted. Harden struck back with 2 unanswered tries to complete the half. Though the Pythons were brutal in defence and it was only a couple of wayward passes that let the Harden side to secure points. As always this year the Pythons seemed to struggle in the beginning of the second half and Harden scored a couple more tries. Though the boys hit back with some great work from Kenny Turnbull and the Cummins duo of Grant and young Haydon playing a great game together for the first time. Rob Burns scored under the sticks and Bowdy crossed the line not long after to see a bit of a fight back from the Canowindra side but unfortunately was put to rest with Harden scoring again to put the away side too many points in front with time ticking down. Ed Price had the last say in the match with a try of his own on full time. The final score being 38-24. The Pythons once
again came out of the game with a four try bonus point for the second week in a row against two teams who haven’t had a lot of points scored against them. Best and Fairest points went to Rob Burns with 3. Bowdy and Kenny got 2 each and big Tommy Roth got one and Players Player for another cracking game. This weekend the Pythons travel to Grenfell to find a spot in the top four of the competition. The following week is Ladies Day with a catered lunch being organised so if anyone would like to attend comment on the Canowindra Pythons Facebook page or contact Jack Beath. By Adam Nash

MEN’S BOWLS Last weekend our club hosted a section of the Zone Presidents Singles with four of our bowlers reaching the semi-finals. Steve Kirkman played Ian Nelder and Brent Lees played his brother Zac with Ian and Brent going in to the final. The final was a hard fought match with Brent getting a handy lead during the middle of the game but then Ian was able to bridge the gap. After 40 ends Ian won the match 31-28. Good luck to Ian this weekend when he travels to Dubbo to playoff against other sectional winners of this competition. Sunday July 8 - Shirt presentation for the 2017 championships will take place at 4.30pm. Sunday badge draw will be $700 and will be drawn between 5.00pm and 6.00pm.
