CHAPTER I Introduction


Statement of the Problem This study aimed to determine and understand disaster reporting before , during and after the specifically MARCOPPER Mining spill in Marinduque. It hoped to answer the following: 1.To determine , manifent and latest messages in initial reports from the Voice of Tapian. 2.To collect mainstream reports in the mining spill disaster in printed online sources. 3.To enumerate the outcomes after 10 years after the Marcopper disaster in selected areas in Marinduque.


Significance of the Study The results of this study are beneficial to the residents most especially to the other people to have an idea and information on how the warnings and reports are being disseminated to the selected places. Besides know the significant role of communication through reporting before ,during and after the disaster.

Scope and Limitation This study was limited to the responses of the interviewee from the selected places in Marinduque, also the comments and information of the government and non government agency in Marinduque who have the concerns and usually sends weather updates in the selected areas

This conceptual framework shows the concept of the study on how the Marcopper mining disaster begins, the factors that draw the information with regards to the Marcopper mining disaster and the happenings after the disaster through the help of the NGO and Government Agency to have a various information about the disaster.


CHAPTER III Methodology


Research Design This study attempted to determine the reporting of information with regards to the MARCOPPPER Disaster in the selected places in Marinduque.


Subject of the Study The subject of the study are the residence living in the selected places in Marinduque along the side of rivers.


Research Instrument The type of instrument will be going to use in data gathering , a voice recorder for recording and transcription of interview. Collecting printed information about MARCOPPER Disaster in Marinduque.


Research Process As an initial step , permission will be asked first from the chairman of the selected places with regards to the conduct of the study, to have an interview to the residence of their place. The residence will serve as the respondents to the study , they will be asked to answer the question based on the study of the researcher. Also gathering of the printed information through internet and the help of the NGO and the Government Agency in Marinduque.
