March 26-30, 2012 would be a busy week for the School of Arts and Sciences. occupied with different activities. In the morning of 26, there would be the film festival parade; in the afternoon, the SAS Recognition Day. As scheduled by March 27-29, the entries for the institutionalized film festival would have been viewed; the Thesis Title Defense of the third year AB-English and ABCommunication students. Would have done; and lastly, by March 30, the much awaited Awards Night for the Film Festival would have been held. Ten floats paraded in the
morning, from MSC-Boac Campus to Boac town at exactly 9:00. The floats that participated were Borkat, directed by Marvin Ypanto; Panaghoy by Mark Cesar Ola; Eva by Mildred Moreno; Utol by Leah Mapacpac; Overnight by Michelle Mayorga; Katig by Israel Linasa; Salamin by Isaac Ravenera; Aurora by Mark JC Sevilla; Panata by Caitlin Basilia; and Piso by Patrick S. Magbuo. The films mentioned were mostly directed and acted upon by ABCommunication Students and AB-English Students as well. The thrill of what the films would be about will be critiqued and screened on the scheduled time and place of the different productions.
SAS students and faculty members gathered at the MSC-AVR to celebrate its first Recognition Day for out standing students for their academic excellence during the school year. The awards given for Academic Awards were Dean‟s Listers, Best Demonstration Teacher, Most Supportive to English Speaking Campaign, School Journalism Awardee, Best in Science, Best in Mathematics, Culture and Arts Awardee, for the Special Awards Best Debater, Responsible in Physical Education-Dancing, Best Performer in Street Dancing, Best Solo Performer, Story Teller of the Year, Best in Painting, Best in 3d-graphical Paint, Dancer of the Year, Most Disciplined Group Member, Best Drama Performer. As quoted by Dean, Dr. Julieta L. Go,” Congratulations SAS Students”. Thesis-Title Defense of the AB-English and ABCommunications students covers the first three Chapters of their thesis which were submitted to the Dean a week before the defense date and were distributed to their respective panelists composed of the Faculty Members of the School of Arts and Sciences. March 30 is the Film Festival Award Night, The expected awards to be given are: Best Musical Score, Best Screenplay, Best Story, Best
Cinematography (Lighting Design, Camera Shots, Angles), Best Direction, Best Picture, Best Actor, Best Supporting Actor, Best Actress, Best Supporting Actress, Best Editing, Viewer‟s choice and Best Float. -Rochelle Pornela, AB English IV
