hen it comes to real weddings, they don’t get more swoon worthy than this one. Lisa & Chris married towards the end of Summer last year with a beautifully pretty palette of grey and peach, a stunning backdrop and the most perfect, intimate details. Here, Lisa tells us all about this utterly elegant day; "I’ve never really been one of those girls that dreamt about their wedding dress since they were little – probably too tom boy/geek than all things girly. Even as I grew older I didn’t think too much about it, but working in the wedding industry (I design wedding stationery - www.paperknots.co.uk) means that I see wedding dresses pretty much every working day on social media, so I definitely had an idea of the sort of style I would choose if/when my turn came. When the time did come, I didn’t have a long list of ‘must-haves’ about the dress but I knew I wanted something with straps or sleeves and ideally a low back. I came across Anna Campbell’s dresses on Instagram and pretty much loved everything she created. All very boho/beachy style but designed with stunning and delicate details – meaning they would still suit a more traditional style venue. I started my search by booking appointments at stockists that sold Anna Campbell and was delighted that Coco & Kate was one of these. I looked through all the designer dresses and tried many on, saving the Anna Campbell ‘Coco’ dress till last. I loved it. The low back and detailed straps were exactly what I’d been looking for – so elegant and beautiful. Not only is stationery my biggest passion, it’s also my business. I spend my days designing pretty paper for other couples, so when it came to my own, you can only imagine the excitement – not to mention the pressure! The main invitation was printed onto a luxury heavy cardstock – a whopping 1050gsm in this case (that’s very thick if you’re not a paper geek like me!) and then beautifully gilt edged with a rose gold foil. When it came to décor I had a very strong vision of what I wanted (I can’t pretend Chris took too much interest in this side of things). The décor was to be elegant and timeless with a subtle contemporary edge. I didn’t want anything too grand but instead something more intimate, cosy and pretty. I love botanicals so decided everything would be focused around ivy and eucalyptus. The flowers were to match our chosen colour palette, so we used lots of white, peach and blush. My all time favourite flowers are peonies but sadly they’re not in season in September so our florist Emily (Stems of Somerset) suggested David Austin roses (another fuller-looking flower), café au lait dahlias, hypericum berries, veronica and astilbe. The ballroom (where we had the wedding breakfast) was the perfect space for my wedding planner Sundari of The Wedding Stylist to use her clever idea of having different table sizes and shapes, mixing circular tables with L-shaped tables to create a more intimate frame for the room, whilst allowing every table to have its own unique styling. She added texture and tone to the table-scaping by using brass, soft crepe runners in white against a pale grey linen and incorporated organic materials such as fruit and trailing ivy. Lots and lots of candlelight brought a romantic warmth to the space. To give you an idea of how much I loved it, I cried when I walked into the room (before all the guests entered) – it was like walking into my very own fairytale!

ONE OF THE HIGHLIGHTS OF THE DAY WAS MY WALK DOWN THE LONG AISLE, WHERE I FOUND MYSELF TRANSFIXED ON CHRIS, WHO LOOKED LIKE HE WAS ABOUT TO BURST INTO TEARS I have worked with a lot of amazing photographers through my daily work so choosing was really hard. We came across Emma Pilkington during the search and loved her style. One of the highlights of the day was my walk down the long aisle, where I found myself transfixed on Chris, who looked like he was about to burst into tears. I’ll never forget the look on his face, it was one of my favourite moments from the day. Turns out the big day also really affected Chris, he was stuck for words during our vows (and his speech!) as he was trying to hold back the tears. Completely out of character for him (I think I’ve seen him cry once in 6 years) but that’s just how emotional it all felt."

To recreate Lisa’s wedding flowers, opt for lots of wild foliage and greenery such as Eucalyptus and trailing Ivy. Work in a few soft peach blooms for a feminine touch and a subtle pop of colour. Why not wrap a silk peach or grey ribbon around the stems of your bouquet? You can also use greenery garlands to adorn your seating plan or wedding signage with.

Work metallic details into your wedding décor. From gilded cutlery, plates and candle holders, using metallic decorations will effortlessly give your wedding day a dash of modern luxe. Send out your save the dates. These can be as minimal or as creative as you wish, from a simple postcard to a full wall calendar (yes it’s been done!) it’s important to let your guests know your date so they don’t go booking a holiday!
Gather together the finer details for your invitations, do you also want to send out RSVPs, details cards? There is often more information than you first think; maps, hotels, taxi numbers to name but a few, so it’s a good idea to get this sorted.
Consider different printing techniques; letterpress and hot foil printing offer a touch of luxury to your stationery.

3-6 MONTHS Send out your invitations and wait for the first RSVP to land on your doorstep.

Finalise your guest list...your wedding day is getting close! Now’s the time to sort your ‘on the day’ stationery, the paper prettiness doesn’t end with your invitations. Order of service, place names, menu cards and table plans all need to be organised. They will help to style the day and carry your theme throughout.
Once your wedding is over and you’ve had an awesome honeymoon, it’s time to send out thank you cards. Don’t forget to take note of your guests’ gifts, personalised thank you messages are way better!

he husband and wife team behind Sarah Salotti Photography have been very busy bees and here they talk to us about what they’ve been working on and what you can expect if you book this talented pair to document your special day. "Sarah Salotti Photography is currently adding the finishing touches to a new look website. The passion and love of what we do has remained but the look, feel and usability has changed. Hopefully this freshening up of the website will better show our creative and contemporary approach. Although we go under the name of Sarah Salotti Photography, as the business has evolved we have developed into a team of two: myself and my husband Marco. We were both photographers when we married in 2004 and have been working together, capturing incredible wedding stories since 2009. We have a special understanding when it comes to shooting and this supports our unique documentary style. No two people will ever photograph in the same way but we work from one vision ‘weddings are one of those unique life events that deserve special treatment, careful handling and lots of creative energy’. Two artistic minds, two sets of eyes and of course with Marco on board, the grooms preparations get as much attention as the beautiful bride. Without undermining our emphasis on the bride, we appreciate that male grooming has come a long way in recent years and have always felt it has been a bit overlooked. "Sarah and Marco were our eyes; they captured moments we don't even remember, they captured moments we actually didn't see, they captured moments which appear to be too quick for the human eye! Wedding photography has been around for about 180 years and in our fast paced, image saturated world, the still photograph is worth a thousand words; that first anxious look between bride and groom, dad wiping a tear away, the comical antics of children all made permanent. The thing that unites all wedding days is the fact that they fly by! One of our favourite parts of the day is pulling the bride and groom away for

some quiet time. This gives a couple the chance to breath, re-connect and allows us an opportunity to capture that special bond that exists between them. The relationship we build with the bride and groom is really important to us. We aim to make sure that the couple get an amazing record of their day, also providing some memorable and stylish portraits that will be treasured forever. Despite living in a world of selfies, we never assume that being photographed is normal. For this reason we offer a complimentary pre-wedding shoot to build a relationship, making the act of being photographed feel much more natural and comfortable. These shoots are light hearted and at a location the couple are familiar with. They offer a great chance to talk about the wedding day and for us to get to know each other. The Ollerton Room The Ollerton Room has beautiful parquet flooring and is filled with natural light from the original paned windows, creating the perfect setting for your wedding ceremony against a backdrop of tranquil surroundings. The Ollerton Room is the main room licensed for civil ceremonies with seating for up to 100 guests. The Engine Hall is also licensed for civil ceremonies from 80 to 150 guests.
Cinema Room Perfect for the younger guests, our 20 seat cinema room is complete with original cinema chairs, 60 inch plasma screen and a variety of children’s DVDs and games.
The Bridal Room As guests arrive and are welcomed to the Ollerton Room, the bride is able to relax and prepare for the ceremony in comfort. This stylish space is complete with a vintage dressing table, chair, sofa and full length mirror. Conveniently situated next door to the Ollerton Room, this room is perfectly located and with space for the bride and all her bridesmaids; the bridal party can use this room to get ready in or just for finishing touches. Available from 10am, The Bridal Room offers the perfect escape for the bride and family throughout the day. Wedding Reception Guests can enjoy a drink and canapes following the ceremony in either, or both, The Conservatory Room and The Oak Room. These rooms are a convenient and versatile space, beautifully themed and have an additional bar area. Both rooms can also be used as a more relaxing area in the evening for those guests who seek a more quieter space. The Engine Hall The Engine Hall provides an impressive setting for your wedding breakfast. e love Rachael Connerton’s work. Her style is romantic and soulful and this wedding is no exception. Here, we chat with both photographer Rachael Connerton and the bride Jemma about this stylish but oh so elegant wedding at the The West Mill: "A beautiful Pronovias dress, billowing in the breeze and backlit by the delicate sunshine against the picturesque River Derwent.....I’ll never forget those perfect 15 minutes we spent with Jemma and Kane with the strikingly stunning The West Mill behind us. We met Jemma and Kane through the Save the Date Wedding Event with a Difference and, as soon as we started chatting, I knew there was something special about them. I instantly felt a connection and, after they came to see us again (I seem to recall over one or two chocolate biscuits!), I kept my fingers crossed that they felt it too. When the day came, we were treated to so many emotion-filled, happy moments.....I’ll never forget following Jemma into the room where all her bridesmaids and her lovely parents were waiting for her and seeing the beautiful blend of tears and laughter. I’ll never forget the squeeze of excitement that her Dad gave her as she entered church or the quite brilliant speech from Kane (complete with props) which had guests banging on the tables, in complete stitches. But, most of all, I’ll never forget how Jemma and Kane made our work not feel like work at all.... When I asked them both what were their stand-out moments, this was their response: Jemma - "My stand out moment was the journey from the church to the The West Mill; the private moment with Kane is something I will never forget. Also, I have to admit I thoroughly enjoyed having my photo taken multiple times throughout the day, guests thoroughly enjoying themselves and to hear such wonderful comments on our choice of venue, band and photographers!" Kane - "The whole day stood out and it is difficult just to choose certain parts. The start of the Church ceremony was quite overwhelming; I was really nervous but loved seeing Jemma reach the end of the aisle, she looked beautiful and I loved seeing her in her dress. She seemed really relaxed and happy which helped me massively and, from that point on, I was fine and loved every minute of it. Other moments were that little bit of alone time travelling from the Church to the venue in the car with Jemma, enjoying the drinks and canapes as Rachael and Ian took all the photos and also strangely, the speeches, the first dance and the band into the evening."

And over to Jemma for a few more details...."I originally saw my dress at the Wedding Show at the NEC. It was on the mannequin but the ladies at Rachel Ash were most helpful and didn't mind taking it off for me to try on. I knew I wanted a lace fitted mermaid dress with fine detail, the Pronovias Princia ticked all the boxes. After trying multiple other dresses on, I knew none of them compared to THE ONE from the NEC. I chatted to the ladies at Rachel Ash about customizing the dress and adding a key hole lace back on it with the option of removing it too. The seamstress had no problem doing this and I was extremely happy with the end result. The West Mill was only the second venue we had looked at. It was recommended by my Dad who had done various bits of Joinery work there. As soon as we viewed it, we fell in love and knew there wasn't going to be anywhere else that would match up to it. We loved the setting with the Mill having its own private section of riverbank and nearby weir and liked the concept of the venue being split over four different floors. It all seemed to flow and the styling and detail of the venue wasn’t over-thought, but in-keeping with the history and feel of the building which appealed even more. The venue had so much personality and style that it didn't need a great deal of 'personal styling' which made us feel it suited what we were looking for even more. We did, however, add in some subtle styling that was in keeping with the colour palette of the day. Taking inspiration from Pinterest, we saw a small wooden box with a beautiful flower arrangement which we

thought would work really well for the centrepieces. My Dad made up a number of boxes for flower arrangements and painted them in a toning colour. We didn't want to overcomplicate the table set up so just had these flower boxes in the centre with a menu for each table (stationery by No9 Designs - Rachel Cross), a number of tea lights in glass holders scattered around the table and table numbers and place names created by VM Bespoke, Ripley. We loved every minute of working with our photographers Rachael and Ian. From start to finish, they made the experience enjoyable, relaxing and personable. From when we both first met them we knew we wanted them to be part of our day and they certainly didn't disappoint. The pre-wedding shoot was a really good opportunity to get an idea of how Rachael worked but also to know what to expect on the big day. This meant that there was no stress or anguish during the big day and, if anything, we embraced it! When it came to the day itself, they both were like personal wedding organisers! They really did help with the flow and atmosphere of the day. It was clear that their experience and knowledge of all things wedding rubbed off and they set us at ease throughout! Comments were made by numerous guests on just how lovely Rachael and Ian both were and we both feel they were a really important and special part of our day so thank you. It didn't end there, the preview session was lovely too - we would certainly recommend them to anyone and can't wait to have Rachael take more photos of our growing family!"

“Whether you plan to do your own make up or employ a professional on your wedding day, you will want to have glowing skin. After all, the better the canvas, the better the finished effect. No one has perfect skin, not even catwalk models and believe me I've seen them close up. As a professional make-up artist, dealing with acne, rosacea or birth marks is not a problem. However we can all improve our skin and the sooner you start the sooner you will see the results. Below I have listed my top tips that I personally use and recommend to my brides: CLEANSE: morning and night. Always remove your make up before going to bed. Use a cleanser that is appropriate for your skin type and that you know you will continue to use. I personally use micellar water because I want an effective cleanser without too many steps to my routine. SERUM: at night. This is applied after cleansing and before moisturising. It helps to boost the moisture level within the skin and when looking to buy a serum (there are a huge number on the market) one particular ingredient to look for is hyaluronic acid. This helps to increase the hydration levels within the skin and makes for a very effective serum.

MOISTURISE: morning and night. Find one that suits your skin type - it does not have to cost a fortune. Even if you have oily skin you need to moisturise, just use a light moisturising gel. EXFOLIATE: once or twice a week. There are many types of exfoliators available now, you can even make your own. Some that are gaining a good press are chemical exfoliators containing glycolic acid. They are very effective exfoliators, but can dry the skin if used too frequently. If you choose this type of exfoliator always choose one with at least 5% glycolic acid. SPF: Sun exposure is extremely ageing and therefore I would always advise wearing SPF at least 25. The only time I would advise against this is on your wedding day as SPF can cause flash back on your photographs. WATER: 6-8 glasses per day. I can't stress enough how important water is to your skin. I can always tell when a bride drinks plenty of water, hydrated skin is fabulous to work with, foundation sits beautifully and the final make up is always amazing.

STOP SMOKING: it really would be remiss of me not to mention smoking. Smoking really does age the skin, it dehydrates and causes premature wrinkles. I could say so much more about skincare, but to keep things brief these are my top tips and my final word is to say, don't think you have to spend a fortune on your skincare. There are a lot of good products available at affordable prices, the key to good skin is a good routine and plenty of water.

Set in the jaw-dropping location of The Pumping House, the shoot embraces a unique colour palette that will leave you feeling smitten. "I’ve always been drawn to dusky blue hues and when I decided to organise another styled bridal photoshoot, I knew I would have to

incorporate those colours into the theme. I feel that they represent my constant longing for the sea perfectly. I reached out to some of my favourite East Midlands suppliers to bring this shoot to life. The Pumping House is a relatively new, exclusive wedding venue. It’s a renovated pumping station, with beautiful tiling and parquet flooring throughout. Set in the Sherwood Forest, it provided a beautiful backdrop to our theme. As all suppliers collaborated on this shoot, we decided to introduce copper and peach hues to lift the colour palette. The fusion of dusky blue, copper and peach colours made this into beautiful Spring wedding inspiration. It’s always such a rewarding experience seeing your ideas come to life, and it certainly did not disappoint this time."
