December 17, 2010 Dear Project Management Executive, Hello, and thank you for kindly accepting this introduction. We are Stephen and Diana Burgan, doctoral candidates with Indiana Wesleyan University (IWU). We are completing our doctoral degrees in Organizational Leadership with an emphasis in project management. Stephen’s research is on the adoption of project management within organizations and Diana’s research is on the emotional intelligence of project managers. We are also the principal partners of Enterprise Consulting Inc. (ECI).

Our company provides project management consulting services, and training for the project management profession.

In conjunction with IWU, ECI was fortunate to take part in Ukraine’s economic progress, through our sponsorship of a Project Management Institute educational event in Kyiv in 2007. We want to continue our work with Ukraine’s business community by bringing together project leaders, project managers, and other key project stakeholders from both the US and Ukraine together for focused discussions of project management issues and challenges.

A team of American doctoral candidates will visit Kyiv during the week of March 28 – April 1, 2011. In partnership with IWU and select Ukrainian organizations, ECI will conduct a one-day seminar (in English) on organizational leadership topics that will assist the partner organization’s attainment of its strategic goals. The educational event will include the following topics: 1. Adopting project management practices within the selected organization 2. Identifying the selected organization’s readiness to change 3. Assessing emotional intelligence of project management personnel to lead and manage projects The organizations selected will meet the following criteria: 1. An emerging organization that seeks to expand into a global market 2. Organizations can be from any of the following industry sectors – manufacturing, software development, construction, healthcare, pharmaceutical, or retail 3. Demonstrated interest in implementing project management within their organization 4. A medium-sized organization with 200 – 400 employees 5. Able to host a one-day event at their facility, with appropriate meeting space, Internet access, and other event requirements 6. Allow attendance of approximately 8 – 12 key project stakeholders

There is no cost for the selected organization to participate in this educational research experience, and there will be no future obligations after completion of the seminar. ECI is pleased to conduct this seminar in conjunction with IWU with the goal of furthering educational opportunities and business relationships in Ukraine’s professional community.

The (attached) application form must be submitted by January 15, 2011. Selection of the organizations will be determined by the team of researchers.
