My Country Escape
Meet the team at My Country Escape
Written by owner Michelle
As summer approaches and we head towards our sixth year of trading the team at My Country Escape are getting ready for another exciting season. My Country Escape is not only a store providing customers with beautiful homewares and fashion, but it also a place you can come and have an authentic shopping experience with genuine customer service. Some of our core values from form the very beginning have been women supporting women and creating a happy stress-free work environment. As such, we have seen our team grow into a beautiful group of strong women at all ages. Now let me introduce them to you.
Every day is flower day when it comes to Sam. She brings the gorgeous Lydia’s Garden to My Country Escape. Over the past few years Lydia’s Garden has blossomed into a beautiful space at the back of the store. Sam is multi-talented and has a variety of roles within the store, she is my go-to for support.
Kelly Jo
Kelly Jo… what a ray of sunshine, she always has a kind word to say and is a beautiful spirit. Her passion is our online store. Nothing is ever to much for her, and she goes out of her way to help. It always amazes me the amount of work she gets done even on the busiest days. She leaves a trail of tidiness wherever she goes.
Nicky
Our super star Nicky… have you ever wondered who the classy lady is modelling our clothing on our social media? Well it's Nicky. She is our style guru, and I can say hand on heart she is as beautiful on the inside as the outside. Nicky looks fantastic in whatever we put on her and is a delight to work with. Nicky is also our emergency back stop when we get caught short and need a hand.
Ally
Ally started as a junior and has grown and developed to show herself to be a reliable team member with maturity and style. She has a beautiful nature, always caring and trying to do good for others, but best of all she is great fun to work with. Ally works most weekends and helps in the school holidays.
Lucy
Lucy is our sweet hearted junior and if there was ever a girl who knew her colours it is Lucy. This girl is going to follow in her mother’s (Sam) footsteps when it comes to creativity. Her passion and enthusiasm is wonderful and she is the quiet achiever of the group. She also has a gorgeous checky side which we love.
Michelle
As for myself, My Country Escape has been my passion project over the last five and a half years. I love that it is ever changing and a constant source of enjoyment and growth. A highlight of this year has been the new store on Mt Tamborine, Lux and Gather. This would not have been possible without the support of the girls at My Country Escape, and my new business partner for Lux and Gather Nadine. As we head towards 2021 stay tuned for some exciting changes at My Country Escape as the old girl gets ready for a makeover… But as always you are all welcome to come RELAX, BROWSE, STAY A WHILE…
LITTLE BEE’S SECRET GARDEN
Alex Griffiths – affectionately known within the community as the Bee Lady, gives an update on LITTLE BEE’S SECRET GARDEN, which has been humming along due to the shift in people spending more time at home. Alex has welcomed this shift with new ideas in place to meet the demands of the visitors who frequent Little Bee’s Garden. “We’ve started stocking a greater range of plants to include more fruit/ veg seedlings, native, landscape, and indoor plants. There was such a surge of interest in gardening as people found themselves at home for extended periods and they turned to nature, their gardens, as a means to restore a sense of stability and purpose, and to maintain both mental and physical wellbeing. We have also welcomed some locals to the Little Bee’s team, we now that have retirees and local artists building and painting bee hotels.”
However Little BEE’S Workshops are also starting to return with monthly /bi-monthly events at Tullamore Farm where COVID safe practices can easily be implemented. All other workshops and events are listed on the social pages below – or simply message Alex or drop in to say hello.

Lydias Garden
by Samantha Dusting
“Lydias Garden is a tribute to my wonderful Grandma, Lydia Alice, affectionately known to all as Mickee. She had an amazing Victorian cottage garden and shared her love of flowers with my sister Emma and I. When we visited we were given a basket and a pair of snips and allowed to cut as many flowers as we liked.” Hand crafted orders for special celebrations, weddings, wreaths, corporate functions and events, or the perfect way to say…..“I love you”. Purchases and orders are taken at My Country Escape in the heart of Canungra.
