CHILD CARE ON AND OFF THE SLOPES

Private nannies Our UK-qualified private nannies are chosen both for their expertise and their passion for looking after children aged 4 months to 13 years. They understand that when it comes to keeping young ones entertained, variety is key; which is why your children will enjoy a huge range of indoor and outdoor activities during their holiday, leaving you to enjoy the slopes knowing they are having a fantastic time. Each day a nanny will come to your accommodation to collect your children, helping them change into their skiwear and generally getting them ready for the day ahead.

However young your children are, the snowy mountains should be just as magical for them as they are for you. This is why we provide premium childcare services in our four core resorts, available to both chalet and hotel guests. Because we know that if they’re happy, you’re happy.

As children from 3 years old can attend ski school, those learning to ski will then be taken to their lessons enjoying lunch and an action-packed afternoon afterwards. A typical day for younger ones might include tobogganing or swimming in the morning, stopping for hot chocolate and a healthy lunch, followed by painting and games in the afternoon. And because you shouldn’t need to worry about a thing, we provide all the baby essentials, toys, books, games and outdoor play equipment your children will need, depending on their age group. Just one less thing for you to think about when packing.

Our exclusive children’s club IN Val d’Isere

We operate a children’s club in Val d’lsère, exclusively for our junior guests aged 4 months to 13 years. Purpose-built and expansive, it provides a fun, caring environment with hundreds of toys, games and creative activities to keep your kids happy.

split into groups to ensure the activities they take part in are suited to their ages and abilities. All in all, you can be safe in the knowledge that your children are well looked after in the company of their peers and our caring nannies, leaving you to enjoy the slopes to the full.

There’s a main play area, a chill-out room with a television and games console, and a sleep room for our very youngest guests. Because of the wide age-range, children are

If you have any questions about our childcare services in the mountains, do call our family team who are only too happy to help.

Find your feet To fall in love with skiing, everyone needs to start somewhere. As it’s as much about gaining confidence as skill, if there are beginners in your group we’ll only recommend resorts with good nursery slopes and excellent ski schools. If you’re looking for advice about ski school, we can help. Open to children from age 3 and upwards, we can tell you which ones provide English-speaking instructors for both private and group lessons. For those new to skiing, we can advise on what to pack, hiring the right equipment once you’re in resort, and generally how to make the most of your first exciting ski holiday.

we’ll tell you which slopes face the sun. the snow will be softer... and so more forgiving.

Christmas in the mountains Is there anywhere more magical to enjoy a white Christmas? Just picture it: a roaring log fire in your chalet tended to by your private host, a beautifully decorated Christmas tree illuminating the room, and snow gently falling outside. Meanwhile an experienced chef is preparing a gourmet Christmas lunch with all the festive trimmings while you relax on the sofa with a glass of Laurent-Perrier champagne. Glorious aromas fill the air, all the more enjoyable in the knowledge that the washing up is not something you’ll need to worry about.

Boxing day will be just as special, with more festive gourmet fare to enjoy after a long day’s skiing. And because everything is tailored to your party, whatever dietary requirements or specific requests you may have, we can cater for. Simply let us know in advance and we’ll make everyone’s dining experience a special one. If you’d like to join us for Christmas, do speak to us as soon as possible. At this exceptionally popular time of the year, availability for an extraspecial ski holiday never lasts very long…

Oh so quiet in January If you love making fresh tracks through glistening virgin powder, or simply enjoying a long lunch in the sun knowing the pistes will be just as quiet and smooth afterwards, January could be the best time of year for your trip. While all of February is generally busier across Europe due to varying half term holidays, January is quieter, often with great snow conditions. You’ll find the lift queues are minimal, and the local bars and restaurants will have tables available at any time of day.

North American Powder Days When you embark on a Scott Dunn holiday, we want you to feel on top of the world in every sense, and a heliskiing adventure literally takes you there. For those looking for the ultimate off-piste experience, we offer North American heliski tours. Located close to Whistler, our partners TLH and Final Frontier Heliskiing will fly you to an area of pristine snow roughly ten times bigger than Les Trois Vallées in France. In the company of expert mountain guides, you’ll be dropped into

the untouched backcountry for an exhilarating off-piste experience like no other. Forget lift queues and crowds. Here you’ll have the entire mountain to yourselves, as if you’re the only people to have ever skied this terrain. With just one group per helicopter, your guide is entirely dedicated to your group. There’ll be no waiting around, just endless thrills both skiing down through champagne powder, and flying back up against a spectacular mountain backdrop for more.

Pistes: 250km (440km for the Arlberg of which 29% Blue, 34% Red, 37% Black) Best for: Good and advanced skiers. Beginner areas on the lower slopes. The Rendl gondola has made the skiing for intermediates more accessible. On the mountain St Anton offers some of the best off-piste terrain anywhere in the world. Without a guide, you’ll barely scratch the surface so we recommend Piste to Powder for excellent off-piste guiding. Heliskiing is also available here; and for those who love skiing but hate the cold, the Arlberg ski area has a number of chair lifts with heated seats. While some of the terrain can be challenging for those with only a few weeks’ experience, the Rendl area offers some easier runs and plenty of sun.

Off the mountain With fabulous Tyrolean hospitality oozing from every pore, St Anton exudes character and charm. The village itself offers up the quintessential Alpine experience and there’s a wealth of good restaurants and shops to enjoy, too. The St Anton Wellness centre, the Well.com, is also a must for anyone who likes to be pampered, beating most other resorts hands down when it comes to spa facilities. It has an indoor swimming pool, paddling pool, outdoor pool, indoor and outdoor tennis, an ice rink, a fabulous gym, sauna, steam and massage rooms, and sun beds. Après, dining and nightlife St Anton’s après-ski is legendary. Finish a great day on the slopes with drinks at the Krazy Kanguruh, or the Mooserwirt – arguably the best après-ski venue in the world! Eating out and drinking in St Anton is great value compared to many other premier Alpine resorts – and we think Austrian service and hospitality is the best in the Alps. The bars are alive from mid-afternoon until early morning, so there’s always somewhere to go if you want a night out. Family and ski school The Arlberg Ski School is particularly good for young children. There are good nursery slopes here, and a dedicated children’s area too. And as it’s one of our chalet resorts, we of course offer Scott Dunn childcare to our chalet and hotel guests.

beyond our resorts

We have a selection of hotels in the Alps beyond our core resorts, chosen because they offer something special. As a delightful alternative, but still in Europe we offer a couple of lovely hotels in the Spanish Pyrenees and Italian Dolomites. If you’re willing to go the extra distance, North America won’t disappoint. You can expect superb skiing, amazing scenery, and wonderful hospitality. In true American style, an unrivalled infrastructure that is run with military precision means less time queuing for the lifts and more time enjoying the spectacular runs and famous dry snow. Whistler is famed for its vast ski area and unrivalled snow record, while Jackson Hole will add a little “yee-ha” to your day with its wild-west ambience and demanding terrain.

Taking its name from the abundance of Aspen trees, Aspen is brimming with old-world charm. Here you have four amazing mountains of wonderful varied terrain to suit all abilities. You’ll never have to ski the same run twice. Chile is a great, if seemingly unlikely, alternative ski destination. The season here is June to October, when you can experience exhilarating off-piste skiing in Portillo, the country’s oldest ski resort. If you’re interested in trying any of these destinations, we can tailor a ski holiday that takes you there.
