Another Christmas over and we had a lovely day at mum and dads but poor Karen was really poorly and only lasted until tea time. She had picked up the sickness bug going round the hospital and it has made her really ill. She managed to put on a brave face but we could all see how she was suffering. Here is one of our family photos this year. I took Karen home after this as she needed her bed.

We hope you all had a fantastic day. I wonder how many of you are fighting your way around the Sales today? Not me. I'm wrapped up warm at home watching films and eating...... Heaven. And Karen? I rang her a few minutes ago and she is still really ill but hoping it she will feel better as the day goes on. So if you're reading this karen, get well soon, chin up and remember, we can always have another family Christmas next year. THURSDAY, DECEMBER 25, 2008

Something different Lots of people ask whether Karen and I have always been Scrapbookers. Both of us have always done one craft or another. One of my great loves was and is working with material. This is awall hanging I made for my bedroom when we moved into our house. I used odd bits of fabric and made a pattern working from the picture on a jigsaw puzzle box that mum got for christmas. It took a long time but I was pleased with the end result. Hope you like it.

Don't forget that you can use fabric on your scrapbook pages. Starching a piece of material make it look and feel like paper. Go on, give it a go this christmas break. You might also like: Something a bit different.... They are all different And they are all different

The Holidays are coming.................. and boy did we have a great Crop today. Everyone did some great projects between loads of laughs and lots of food. Yummy. The snowman and the turkey were special guests and made everyone laugh.

Everyone spent time finishing off projects ready for christmas. This project will be available in kit form in 2009 so if you would like one or are interested, e-mail karen at sales@scrapbooksisters.co.uk and she will let you know when they are available.

Sally was tidying up her Gothic Arches and putting them in a book to keep them safe. Here are just a few for inspiration and you can see more of her work on her Blog One Dragons Dream.

NO clear diningroom table yet but I am getting there. It has been a really exciting couple of days. Something that Karen and I have had in the pipeline for at least a year is going to be launched very soon thanks to our brainstorming ladies yesterday, and over the next few weeks we are going to be working really hard to make sure it takes off with a bang!!!! There are loads on new and exciting projects to play with and get ready, kits for the Design Team, a new Limited Edition Kit plus a really special trip to plan for later in the year when we hope to take some of our Scrappers abroad on an adventure. More details of that next year, along with how you can sign up for a really fun trip. On top of all that we have plans to change the layout of the shop after the sale.......................... yes I said SALE - dates to be posted on the front page of the website soon along with Christmas and New Year opening times. After yesterdays disaster with the camera I thought I'd have a play with my new one, just to see how it works. Here's introducing Clyde, my really soft and cuddly cat.

You can just see a blurry vision of my tree in the background. I am still trying to get a decent photo but I need to practice more. Will post a picture if I succeed. You might also like: Christmas Books A Very Merry Christmas xxxxx More Christmas Ideas

Have you ever tried............. to take a group photo by just pointing the camera in the general direction because you have placed the camera in such a ridiculous place that you can't see through the view finder. Well, thats what I did on Thursday night when a group of us got together for a brainstorm. The first time I just forgot to set the timer.

Then I forgot to adjust the zoom and put the flash on.

Then things just got really silly.

All I wanted was a photo where everyone was in the middle and I got one at last, but the zoom moved for no apparent reason so I got this.

Now we were all laughing so much everyone was crying so I gave up with this last attempt.

You'll be glad to know we did get some work done and hopefully you will see the results in 2009. It was a superb evening. Thanks ladies. You might also like: A fantastic evening OK, so did everyone have a good time today??? Introducing

I didn't win but I did make an effort to enter the Graphic 45 Christmas Competition this year. Here is my entry. I tried to use techniques and pieces that were currently in fashion, to compliment the Graphic 45 Papers which I think are totally scrummy.

The tree and the lamp post were cut out using the Cricut Expressions. I used black Bazzill for the lamp post and a Graphic 45 paper for the tree.

Liquid pearls and mica powder made the snow and the musical notes at the top of the page were made using Tim Holtz Mask and weathered wood/fired brick Distress Ink pads. I then picked out some of the notes in black stickles.

Pop across to the Graphic 45 Blog and have a look at the winners. They are all beautiful. Must try harder next time!! You might also like: Crazy Saturday…….. Introducing I’ve Been Had......

It's time to pack up tidy up, put all the bits away and make everywhere a little bit tidier for Christmas. I hate this part. All year I have added and taken away from this pile which is my on top of my 10 seater Glass Table. I definately do not fall into the tidy crafter category and work at my best in complete chaos............. oh and I forgot to mention - I produce much better work if I leave everything to the last minute. It may look a mess but I know EXACTLY where everything is. So here it is before I clear it all up. Hopefully by posting this it will make me put it all away.

If I don't post a clear table tomorrow you know I haven't been able to do it. After all there's telly to watch, chocolate to eat oh a good magazine.................... You might also like: Now I know that Christmas is on it’s way It's over and we had a great time Sometimes it's good to play

Pam Thorburn gives us some inspiration Pams DT Kit was made up of Graphic 45 papers for her to use as she wanted. One of the projects she made will be a class you can book in January but here is one of Pams layouts.

I don't know about you, but I find it very hard to make interesting and different layouts using mens or boys photos. In this layout Pam has made use of wire and eyelets to make this layout masculine.

Notice how the ribbon is knotted and not made into bows. Also the clean lines work really well in this case. I love this layout. Thanks Pam You might also like: There's loads of inspiration We R Memory Keepers This Kid

Had to share this magic moment........ I went out for my ward meal last night and had a lovely evening. Good food and great company. On leaving the hotel we decided to take the lift as our feet were tired from all the dancing. The lift clearly stated that the maximum amount of people allowed was 8 but who takes any notice of that???? I will in the future! We squeezed 10 people into the lift. The doors closed and we pressed the button to go up two floors. To our horror the lift came to a complete standstill. We were stuck.........

The hotel staff battled to get us out as quickly as possible.. I dont think I have ever laughed as much in my life and I will never overload a lift again. You might also like: Had to share…… I had to share this Loads of layouts to share

Prima Urban Cosmos Layouts As promised here are the 3 layouts we used in the last fortnights classes. Lost in your thoughts. The journalling reads: "You have always been such a thoughtful boy. Sometimes I wonder what you are thinking."

The frame at the top left of the page is actually a stamp, stamped onto the lighter paper and then stamped again onto the green paper and cut out. The frame is then off set and raised using foam pads.

The Hairdressers There is a story behind this layout which I can't share but the journalling reads: " When you came back from the hairdressers it was great to see the sparkle back in your eyes again. We laughed together when we were taking these photos."

Two photographs have been used here, one black and white and one colour. Karen has cut a strip from the coloured paper and stuck it onto the black and white photo. Of course, if you know how, you can also create this effect using one of the photo programmes such as Paint Shop Pro or Photoshop.

So Grown Up This is a realy simple layout and one that can be made using scraps from any of your papers. We have cut three 4" squares and used them diagonally on the page. We have used gold card behind the photo to give it a subtle lift. The journalling reads: "Our Kerry is beautiful and always takes a great photo. She's So Grown Up."

The title is cut using Cricut with a shadow cut behind.

Watch out for Pam Thorburns great layouts coming soon, using the Graphic 45 papers. You might also like: The last fortnightly class of 2008 Journaling Classes have finished Altered Art Book Class No2

Karens Christmas Book Pt 1 Karen made her book for a christmas past using photos that were taken by all of us over Christmas and Boxing Day. Here's what Karen did to make her book in her own words:

The Holly leaves are from your rubons on white card and curled for a more realistic effect.I punched two holes in the large scalloped circle and added burgundy ribbon. The border and wording are from your sticker sheets.

I added a selection of Christmas coloured Tuelle to the rings.

The measurements for the squares are 1 x( 3"x3") and 3 x( 2"x 2"). I have stamped around the edge of the the page using an Olive green stazon and the pine cone stamp.

All the patterned paper is matted with black cardstock and then decorated with a white pen.The paper is also decorated with glamour dust.

For the details of this little pocket please come into the shop and I will be happy to help.

I have used a crafters workshop template to decorate this page and then added random punched holly leaves with the centres glittered with stickles. The journaling is on a stamped journaling box.

Julies Christmas Book Part 2

This is the reverse of the bauble page shown yesterday. I have kept the decoration to a minimum by just adding punched holly around the edge as I intend to add journalling after christmas.

This page was separated with a sticker border ans is the plainest of the pages but left deliberately for photos or journalling after christmas.

As you can see there are 3 photo inserts before the leaf page. All of the leaves on the page have been individually glittered using a Quickie Glue Pen and Glamour dust.

This is the plainest of the pages with just a sticky borber across the middle. Photos and journalling will be added after christmas.

Again 2 pictures have been added to the book and then the page behind was embellished using the 2 holly leaves on the sticker sheet as a pattern. Note the circle on the side of the book.

The circle is a mechanism for producing the pop up bear. Those of you who chose to add this to their book were shown how in class but if you need to see it again please ask Julie in the shop.

The owl is by Hero Arts and was provided in the kit. The cage is made from the window template also in your kit. I removed the windows and then cut small strips of paper and glued then to the window. Once dry I coloured with gold paint dabber and then put on a thick coat of Glossy Accents on the cage giving it depth. The owl was coloured in using ultra fine glitter and was attached to the cage by his feet. The cage is attached to the page only by one gold brad to give movement.

Two more photos were added here. Of course this book has photos of each of the family members who will be there at christmas. By building your book this way, you can add as many photos and extra pages as you want.

The final page is decorated only with red glitter on the berries and is being saved for a family picture.

And lastly the back page (Work in progress). Hope you like it. Watch out for Karens book part one tomorrow. MONDAY, NOVEMBER 24, 2008

Christmas Books Ok, so the christmas Crop projects were sooooo big this year. We showed you two different versions of the same book using Basic Grey and we know that you nowhere near finished. We will post details daily over the coming few days to help those of you who want to use the ideas in their own book.

Here are the first few pages of Julies book which was made for Christmas 2008 and will be added to after christmas this year.

I used the Acrylic as my front cover to protect the book. I stamped on either side of the acrylic with a Penny Black stamp using a glue pad and then gold glitter pushed into the glue. The trick to getting this to work is to be patient. Leave your work to dry for 24 hours. When this is done you can brush away the excess glitter. The snow is made from Liquid Pearls and then when dry, I have added Frosted Lace Stickles. Make sure you give both plenty of time to dry.

The tree in your kit was glittered and then attached to the page with silicone so that is raised. The red and clear gems are available from the shop should you need any.

The trees were cut from the triangle paper in the kit. Notice that some of the trees are raised to give the page depth. The border seperating the the page is from the sticker sheet in your kit.

Because this is for the coming christmas I wanted to make sure that I got everyone to take part in the

completing of the book. I have added extra pages throughout the book, their size depending on the size of my photos, and on the back of each I have included some questions for each person to complete. This means I have information about christmas 2008 for my book and examples of everyones handwriting. Don't forget to use your rub ons to decorate the photos.

This was one of my favourite pages. For those of you who decided to do this page, I did show you how to make the pop up snowman, but if you have decided to have a go and didn't see the demonstrations at the Crop, just bring in your kit and I will run through it with you. More tomorrow. You might also like: Julies Christmas Book Part 2 Something a bit different.... Family Christmas Book

The last Crop of 2008 is over and it was a great success except for the heating going off about 2.30pm. For those of you who suffered from the cold this time, I have had a word with the school and they will ensure that the heating is ok for the next crop. Apparently the thermostat was incorrectly set. The christmas book class was well received and everyone enjoyed themselves. Here are just a few photos of the class in progress.

And one person in particular really enjoyed herself and her newly aquired talent - stamping.

And lastly I have been looking at the photos taken of us on stage at the beginning of the Crop. I never realised just how funny we look. Whatever were we doing here????

A big thank you to mum and Jeannie for working so hard today and also to Sally West, Kim and Sue Upson for helping us pack away. It was much appreciated. Watch out for pictures of the Crop Class project tomorrow. You might also like: A Fantastic Crop…….. Another Crop over OK, so did everyone have a good time today???

So much to do and time is running out The house is covered in glitter. The once cream carpet has a holographic twinkle to it and even the cats look "pretty". Yes it's Christmas Crop time again and as usual there is so much to do. The class kits are all made up and the projects will get their finishing touches tonight and tomorrow. We have had loads of deliveries over the last 2 days so lots of new goodies for everyone and thankfully the Art Gliter Glue and Glamour Card arrived today. Yipee!!! This is our last big event of 2008 and to celebrate we are raffling a Cricut Expressions. The raffle will start at the Crop and tickets will be sold up to Christmas Eve when the winning ticket will be drawn. All proceeds from the raffle, will go to the National Deaf Children Society. Loads of pictures on Saturday with any luck and if it snows it will be outside for a quick snowball fight. Some sneak peeks coming up tomorrow. More cards for inspiration Gayle has finished her Traditional Christmas Card Classes so we can now share some of them with you. Enjoy!!

This clever card is made with the Penny Black Natures Dance Stamp which is embossed and masked to make this DL card.

This card is a shaker box. Gayle cleverly added the course glitter before the silicone under the pine needles was dry giving a freshly fallen snow effect. This is one of our favourite cards this year so far.

These cards were made using the traditional Christmas paper pack from Dovecraft but can be made with any christmas papers. Hope you like the selection. You can see the originals in the shop. You might also like: More Christmas Ideas

The First Time is the challenge for this weeks Make A Moo and here are my efforts.

For "The First Time" I have made 2 Moo's and used my latest new stamps. The technique is stamping a wrought Iron Fence stamp using Adirondack ink and then spritzing with a fine mist of water giving the distressed effect in the background. The little people are from the same stamp set. I loved this challenge as Moos are so small they are easy to complete and a great way to get inspired. Click the link above to have a go yourself. A great alternative to Gliter Card, this has the same sparkly effect but the glitter is trapped under a sticky film so no mess!!! The final card in this set is a number card "25"

Letters and Numbers Classes have come to an end for 2008 and I think you'll agree, they have been a great success. Here are just a few of the newer designs used in the class. You can see some of the others in older posts on the Blog or in Gayles Gallery on the website. The first card is "Santa"

I especially liked the stitching around the edges of the letters. Card Two is "Joy".

Gayle has used a course crystal glitter to give a snowy effect on the snowflakes. The papers used for these cards are from Sandylion. Don't forget Gayle has two more classes scheduled this month. The first is on the 20th November and is a catch up class so if you missed out on "Pop Up & Slide", "Bobbing Along" or the "Traditional Christmas Card" classes then this is the class for you. The second is on 25th November and is a brand new and the last of Gayles Christmas Card Classes this year. Ideal cards for both men and women, these cards are something special and will give you a chance to use some new stamps, not yet seen in Scrapbook Sisters. More cards tomorrow. Looking at techniques this is something we like to do a lot of at Scrapbook Sisters and there are 2 classes in November which use some of Tim Holtz wonderful products. On Saturday 1st we will be making some cards using Crackle Paint, Distress Ink Pads and Adirondack Paint Dabbers. On the last Saturday of November we will again be using a variety of tool to make our Altered Art Charm Bracelet. If you haven't tried the Crackle paint yet then take a look at the following examples and I'm sure you'll want to have a go. On this tag you can see both the background and the alphabet coated in crackle paint. It gives a great effect with very little effort.

Tag 2 again has a crackle backgound. The square picture frame is made from acetate and stamped. The image behind the window was hand drawn by Sally West. We are hoping to get her to draw some new stamps for us so watch this space. She is a very talented artist.

Tag 3 again has a crackle background but this time Sally has stamped over the top and used a white pen to highlight the title.

Tag 4 and this time most of the imagery is done directly on to the tag and enhanced with glitter. A piece of acetate has them been stamped and put over the top of the tag giving a 3d impression. (sorry the photo doesn't do this any justice at all).

Tag 5 is our last tag and shows just how good a peel off can be (Yes I said peel off). All of the stamping and the peel off spiders are on the crackle background but by putting the stamped acetate over the top it gives the tag a whole new look.

I want to thank Sally for these great examples and hope that you will all want to give Crackle Paint a go. You might also like: You've asked to see Altered Art Workbook Class Happy Halloween

More Christmas Ideas Firstly from karen using the one of the new Woodware Christmas Stamp Sets. These are simple to make cards but really effective and depending on the papers you stamp on, you can change the whole look of both the presents and the tree.

Next we have some cards from Gayle Bond. Gayle has made use of an existing stamp and one of our most

popular sellers "The Bees" and turned it into a very cute Christmas Card.

And lastly, again from Gayle, we have a great card used in the Pop Up and Slide Class held last week and using one of our many Penny Black Stamps.

Do you realise just how talented young people are? Well there are a lot of them out there and some of them come to our monthly kids class but the star of todays posting is Lianne Halfpenny. A few weeks back Lianne came into the shop with her mum and told me she had to do a diary of her school trip to France. She wanted to make a scrapbook just like the ones her mum had made, for a class competition at school. Lianne knew what she wanted to do so she bought papers, embellishments and a stamp. She wanted everything to be blue white and red. On Saturday Lianne came back into Scrapbook Sisters to show us her scrapbook. She had spent 2 weeks of her holidays completing the book and we were all really impressed with the detail and thought that had gone into it. I asked if I could share snippets of it with you so take a peek at Liannes Book.

Lianne didn't win the competition but I think you'll agree, she certainly deserves a big round of applause for her fantastic project. You might also like: Introducing And how are we getting on????? Do you know the secret?

Another busy Saturday and two lovely classes, the first of which was the Christmas Cards Class. I have had so much to do over the last few days that I have got a bit behind with the photos and scanning of projects. I did however manage to take some quick shots of some of the cards which you can see in the shop. I hope to be able to take some better pictures next week.

The general theme was acetate cards and hopefully everyone learnt something new and had a good time. You can find all of the stamps on the shop website.

Journaling Classes have finished and as I've just loaded the Heidi Swapp papers onto the website I thought I'd better give you some ideas on how to use them. When I first saw them I fell in love with the simple colours and theme that runs through them. I had already used World Traveler - Old Map,in Tim Holtz Class so I was delighted to see the rest were just as beautiful. These papers are made for altering and stamping on so here goes with a brief description. I will add more photographs of the detail tomorrow, when it is light. On the first layout I kept the journaling to a bare minimum with just a few words and a title. The word Journey is a cut off from the World Traveler - Compass paper and has been stamped with a delicate journalling stamp. Maroon papers from the back of one of the papers has been used to define the title. The corners on the large photo are made using segments from the compass on the journey paper slip.

The second layout was to show hidden journalling in its simplist form. The 2 pictures at the top of the page hide the journalling. The rider on a horse silhouette, is actually from a dingbat font called YeeHaw. The title is cut using Cricut, distressed with Fired Brick Distress Ink and glazed with Glossy Accents.

The third layout was made to show how good it looks when you write on your photos. The photos were taken in the Trunk Show at Creative escape 2008. I have used the Super Color White Markers to do the writing. The title ART was cut out using Craft Robo, distressed with Frayed Burlap Distress Ink, Stamped with a small scrit and flourish and then glazed with Glossy Accents. The clocks are also stamps, double matted onto black and white.

The last layout was made using a piece of 12 x 12 Acetate and a Super Color White Marker. Here is the acetate without the background. I used one of the papers as a pattern for the scroll.

and here is the finished layout with paper and photos.

I really enjoyed using the acetate and intend to use it a lot more in the future. The skys the limit with this new 12 x 12 Acetate. You might also like: We have had a fantastic day in the shop The last fortnightly class of 2008 Prima Urban Cosmos Layouts

We have had a fantastic day in the shop with 2 great classes. The first was a class for our 8 to 16 year olds which involved making a paper photo cube. We were all amazed at how well everyone did with very little help from Jeannie and Karen. It never ceases to amaze us just how talented our youngsters are. Here is the group:

And here is what they made. I think you'll agree, they did very well.

The afternoon class was Delightful Distressables and was taken from the class taught to us by Tim Holtz at Creative Escape 2008. The idea was to learn how to use Crackle Paint, Glossy Accents, Ghosts, Fragments, Distress Ink Pads, Blending Tools, and basic collage. Here is our group of talented ladies:

And here are their finished projects:

Ok so not quite first thing but better late than never. Here are the two layouts that Karen did for the class "All The Way From The USA" using Laundry Line fromMy Minds Eye. These are a beautiful set of glittered papers, all co-ordinating and in soft colours to compliment most photos. The Change In You

On this layout karen has used the circle and flower to cover up a slot which allows the journalling to be slid underneath.

The hearts used both on the flower and entwined around the flourish, are a section cut from the new range of "With An Edge" from Bazzill.

The butterfly is made using another piece from the new "With An Edge" borders, and two pearl pins finish it off.

The flower has been enhanced with tiny beads of dew made using Glossy Accents.

Karen has made use of not only the chipboard borders but also the little bits that were left in the packets, to make embellishments on the edges of the photos.

The middle of the Bazzil Paper Flower was made using a punch and then the middle covered in Glossy Accents. The paper tag is a stamp.

I still haven't managed to do my layout with this kit yet but I will as soon as I get time as I love the papers. TUESDAY, OCTOBER 07, 2008

Welcome to Dan99 A little while ago Dan of My Crafty Life agreed to make a project for us here at Scrapbook Sisters using a box blank from the Melissa Frances range. Dan has made a beautiful piece of ART in his own definitive style using inks, stamps and a lot of his valuable time. I hope you love this as much as I do. The Line, The Cross and the Curve by Dan99

And if I had to pick my favorite techniques from the book then they would be:

The quadruple matting of the wings.

Love all of the techniques on this one, infact it is my favorite of all the pages.

Love the use of the round tag as the body on this one.

I love the composition of this one and the pin holding the legs of the bird. You will be able to see Dans project in more detail in the Gallery soon so keep checking back. All in all a great piece of work Dan. Thank you so much for sharing your talent. You can see more of Dans work here. You might also like: Altered Art Book Class No2

You've asked for pictures of the class projects from the Crop so here they are: Class one was a one page layout designed by Morag Cutts especially for the class. These papers and some of the embellishments will be available on the website and in the shop soon so watch this space.

Techniques included paper tearing, distressing, chalking, punch art, sewing and a few more I'm sure. Class two was a card class using black and white.

When shut and tied with ribbon this is a great card but when you open it

You get a 3d look through a window. I think this was a hit and although it took a lot of cutting out, everyone was pleased with the final result. Class 3 was a double page layout by Karen.

Time Flies was the first layout with 2 secret lift up compartments hiding journalling and with a raised border.

Page 2 featured a date wheel and a lesson on how to use Tulle. The christmas class at the November Crop is a beauty so don't forget to book your place. You might also like: Que Sera Sera Monthly Giveaway It’s easy

Ooooh A bit of a gap but I have been soooo busy doing all sorts of shop stuff plus boring ironing and housework. YUK!!! Did any of you go to the 40's Weekend at Chathams Historic Dockyard last weekend? Well if you didn't you really missed a treat. What a great day out and so much to see and do. What was going to be a couple of hours wander turned into a 5 hour stroll with plenty of tea, cake and entertainment (oh and over 600 photos)some of which are below. It was fantastic to see the re-enactments, people dressed in costumes and the authentic stands, cafes and displays. I had a wonderful day people watching.

If you did miss it this year put it in your diary for 2009. It's well worth a visit. SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 21, 2008

Inspiration time again Well we've been back a few days now so it's time to start that inspiration flowing again. Today we have some superb layouts by Janice Newson. I have listed the products used for each layout just in case you want to have a go. I will add pictures showing each one in more detail later today. First we have SHINY NEW BIKE

For this layout Janice used: Bazzill Cardstock; About A Boy "Peace" by Fancy Pants; Basic Grey Undressed Monograms; Adirondack Brights Acrylic Paint Dabber in Sail Boat Blue; Glossy Accents; Blue Dymo Tape; Papermania Eyelets; Rusty Pickle Buttons and Woodware Chippies - Circles. Next we have LAUGH

This time Janice used: Bazzill Cardstock; About A Boy "Rockin paper" by Fancy Pants; Bazzill Betz Alphabet Cards; Fancy Pants About A Boy Rub-Ons; Buttons from Janices own stash. And finally WHAT?

Janice used: About A Boy "Rockin & Chillin Papers" by Fancy Pants; Bazzill Cardstock; Fancy Pants About A Boy Rub-Ons; Chip Flowers from old Scrapbook Sisters Kit; Papermania Eyelets.

Janice has used minimal products to give great impact. We love all three and you will be able to see them up on the wall in the shop from Thursday. Our newsletter is going out on Friday and will include new classes up to the end of October. Just to let you know, there are 2 more Gayle Bond Classes available. One is a repeat of the "Bobbing Along" which takes place on Thursday 25th September and the other is a brand new class called "Traditional Christmas Cards which takes place on Tuesday 28th October. Places are already selling fast so don't forget to book your places as soon as possible. We know that no photo ever does a layout justice so watch out for those detailed photos. We're on our way home or we will be at 3.25am UK time (7.25pm time where we are). At the moment we are in the hotel with cases packed and just enough time to spend a couple of hours by the pool before we check out and drive to the airport. We have had a fantastic time, met loads of new friends and had a good rest. We can't wait to get home now and see our families and get cracking. We have so many new ideas and classes planned it's scary. Talking of classes, we have now put a few of Octobers Classes on the website. Special ones to watch out for are the Delightful Distressables which is a class we took at Creative Escape with Tim Holtz. If you think you know what you can do with those Distress items you will be really surprised and the finished article is superb. Also look out for karen Stationery Delight. I can't believe what a fantastic project this is and it's definately one you don't want to miss. For the first time we have also arranged a themed Scrap Attack on Halloween Night and an all day class which includes lunch. Based on the success of these classes we will look to do more all day classes as christmas approaches. So to end for today here are a few more pictures of where we are.

and of course we had to visit a few more shops.

We spent a good hour yesterday trying to balance our packed cases on the scales in the bathroom. Hopefully they will let us on the plane. Looking forward to seeing you all very soon. Lots of love. Karen and Julie xx You might also like: Another Beautiful Project……….. The last of the layouts

Sedona or Bust There was one place that everyone said we should visit and that was Sedona. Used as a backdrop in many westerns, we were told it was a fantastic place and not to be missed. So we decided to miss our morning lay in, get up really early and drive the 176 miles to Sedona. Did we enjoy it???? See what karen has to say.

UNABLE TO LOAD VIDEO. WILL TRY LATER. SORRY!!

The cowboy theme has run through most of our holiday including our trip to RAW HIDE and authentic town with a jail (as you saw yesterday), saloon and gunfighters who will shoot at each other for any reason.

And if you were wondering how I got out of jail (I thought I could get away with not showing this but Karen insisted. I wonder why?)

And if anyone knows how to turn the video so that you don't have to lay down to watch it, please let me know. More later including shopping trip to Scrapbooks Etc You might also like: A little bit of inspiration Another great Crop Another Great limited Edition‌

It's wonderful what people will do to raise money for a charity and thats part of what Creative Escape is all about. This year we were raising money for Cancer Research and during the course of the 2 days we had the opportunity to buy raffle tickets, the first prize being 2 tickets for a Scrap Cruise which were donated so all of the monies raised went to the charity. By Saturday night the total raised was $6000 but it didn't stop there. Mr Bazzill (Doug) decided we would have an auction and the prize was to be TIM HOLTZ SHIRT designed as a one off for the event.

The first bid started at $100 but it very quickly went up to $1000 and we thought that was that but the price still kept going up and it eventually sold for $6000. Here is the lucky winner

Everyone was delighted. What a fantastic gesture for a good cause. We met loads of lovely people during the event including our youngest scrapper Cody who is only a few weeks old and really beautiful.

And some new adult friends who we hope will come and visit us when they next come to the UK.

Oh and I won a prize for the Treasure Hunt. More lovely goodies to add to the growing pile that we some how have to get home.

And finally for now, just to show you that we did actually do some work.

It's 10.20am here now and we are setting off to Scrapbooks Etc, Hobby Lobby (never heard of this one before but assured it is huge) and a few hundred others. YIPEE!!!!!! More photos later. xx You might also like: Catch Up ……… Card Challenge No 24

You've got to love Michaels and we couldn't resist a quick trip in the car this morning, down the freeway to have a look around. We only did it so that I could get used to driving the car but we sort of ended up there and stayed there for a few minutes (hours). Their theme at the moment is Halloween and we both wish we could bring it all home with us. Take a look

and the Americans really go to town not just with decorations but with animated figures which can frighten the life out of you as you walk past.

And then you've got the cute side

We loved the Scarecrows but we haven't got any room in the cases. Oh and then we went shopping for food in Target. It's huge and we bought a few necessities, Rice Crispies, Milk, very large box of tea bags and

Well they did have a SALE on!!!

Loads of lovely photos to show you tonight of the events and the grand finale last night. So to the hotel. We are in the desert miles from most places and totally stuck until we hired a car yesterday. We have a lovely cherry red car which will do us nicely and if I can ever get karen out of bed, we will go out and have some breakfast in the desert. This is a fantastic place with loads of room so even when it is full as it has been over the last few days, you don't feel claustrophobic. The noise levels have been extremely high over the last few days but it's all of us excited scrappers making new friends and has been great.

We are having the best time ever so many new friends and loads and loads of new ideas and projects just itching to come back wth us to the UK.

I am at last feeling better. It was a great relief to wake up this morning and feel well. We had an early start with breakfast at 6.30pm all provided by Creative Escape and then classes began at 8am with loads more goodies given away. I am such a lucky, lucky girl. I managed to get Tim Holtz to sit down and say..... well see for yourselves. I'm still smiling like a cheshire cat.

Everyone here is so friendly and nothing is too much trouble. There are so many pictures to show you that we will spread them out over the coming days plus watch out for the auction that took place this evening where Tims shirt sold for megga bucks. Jenni Bowlin is also a great teacher and was kind enough to send these kind words.

And Julie from Stampbox has been a great friend these last few days keeping in touch and chatting when she can. Julie is out here as a helper at Creative Escape and has worked really hard to make sure we all get our projects finished and helps where she is needed. Over half of the people here helping out are volunteers and are fantastic. We took time out this moring after breakfast to take this picture of Julie Collins, me and Karen.

We are still having a fantastic time here in the hot, hot sunshine. Karen had her first experience of a hot tub this evening with some of our new scrapbooking friends. She didn't want to get out but we both looked like lobsters after only 10 minutes in the tub so we called it a night. Loads more tomorrow. I wanted to show you what we were given today but I couldn't get a good photo. I will try again tomorrow. We picked a car up this afternoon and so we are now mobile and will be able to go and find some cowboys for Karen. Watch out for those pictures. We are missing everyone and send our love. Xxxxx

We are having the best time ever you would not believe how much fun we are having .Hence the reason we have not blogged much. Julie is a little poorly tonight so I will do my best with the blog but for those that know me I am not very good with words but here goes..... Yesterday we spent the morning at the pool swimming and taking some rays. We thought we had done really well to stay out in the sun but really we only managed an hour. You cannot believe how hot it is ...... We then registered for creative escape and the fun really started. We spent the rest of the day taking part in loads of activities as well as meeting some very special people. I will leave you with a few photos of yesterday and I promise we will bring you up to date tomorrow.

Here are some quick snaps firstly of Heidi Swapp

Wednesday part 1 and we woke up to the desert this morning at 4am local time thats 12 noon in the UK and sunrise was beautiful.

We were both wide awake and so out came the cutting mats and we started to make some bits for the Crop on the 20th. We got loads done but after a while coffee called and we could smell the freshly brewed coffee in one of the downstairs restaurants. $8 later we set off with our coffees in search of the cactus.

Take a look at these photos

You won't believe the agony we went through to get these. After all, who would go out of their way to provide breakfast for the entire Arizona Mosquito population?????? Lets just say, we have more than a few bites. To cool off and to stop the itching we went into the pool.

We've arrived in Sun Valley and it is HOT!! HOT!! HOT!! Isn't it strange that when some people get to an airport their whole personality changes and they completely loose their sense of humour. We've had a great time but the number of men with cases that have been downright rude and inconsiderate plus the multiple nationalities who do not know how to smile, well it's been an eye opener. Terminal 5 is amazing and really efficient. Bag check was fast ( although we were extremely early)and it is so big. You can easilly get lost or spend a complete fortune in the shopping centre they have inside. Of course karen has spoken to everyone as per normal and regardless of the response we have both managed to keep a smile on our faces. PEOPLE WATCHING IS A GREAT PASTIME especially if you arrive at the airport far too early. The flight was good and we arrived safely at our hotel a few hours ago. We have just been to the only

restaurant open this time of day and ordered - wait for it-Fillet Steak, chips and salad. Noone was more surprised than Karen

when she saw an enormous plateful of lettuce put down in from of her. I thought she would die laughing.

They had misundersttod and given both of us an enormous lettuce platter with 3 teeny tiny tomatoes. I don't think we've laughed so much for a long time. Still the steak made up for it. It was delicious. Off to bed now as we are both shattered but more tomorrow. You might also like: Bobbing Along Classes Jeannie's Been Published A great day

I've got a new camera and I've been driving everyone crazy today trying it out. I've not quite mastered it yet but here are a few examples of my efforts. I've taken loads of new photographs of the inside and outside of the shop for the website. I thought it was about time we updated the original photos put on there 2 years ago. A lot has changed since then.

Next the pussy cats. First Clyde who has been playing all day with Terrys railway, chasing the trains and generally making a nuisance of himself. Here he is worn out and asleep.

Then there's Sonic who has spent most of the day curled up asleep.

And last but by no means least I had to take a picture of the weather forecast. Who would have believed the wash out we have had so far this summer.

I was really pleased the the normal weird lines that show up on a telly picture, were not there. Must be a good camera!! You might also like: This weeks card challenge winner is…….. More from our Limited Edition Class…. Customer layouts to share………….

We've added a card gallery to the Blog which I will add to. These cards can be seen in the shop and are made from scrapbook papers we stock or classes that have taken place. All are made by Karen, Julie and the DT at Scrapbook Sisters. We hope you enjoy them. Tonight here's a quick peek at my ribbon box. The Melissa Frances Ribbon Box comes completely blank and ready for you to decorate. On this one I have coloured the box using Distress Ink Pads and then stamped with a crackle stamp and Saddle Brown Stazon. The decoration on the top has been done by masking Tim Holtz number stamps and then colouring them in a variety of colours. Where do we start? There are loads and loads of new goodies in boxes waiting to go out into the shop PLUS loads of new goodies already in the shop and not yet on the website. The plan was to do loads of this today but I'm a bit under the weather so I thought a rest was just the ticket. A nice cup of tea and the morning in front of the telly watching the olympics - what am I going to do when they've finished? more medals for the fantastic Team GB. Calender Class tomorrow afternoon so if you're reading this and haven't looked at the website for a while, remember you need to bring photos to the class otherwise you won't be able to finish it!!!! Photos need to be 5" x 4" minimum and you will need 12. What theme I hear you ask. Well anything you can bear to look at for a month at a time if you know what I mean. Another busy day tomorrow. More lovely layouts to tempt you I've been so preoccupied with the classes and the Limited Edition Kit that I have completely stopped putting the Design Team Layouts on the Blog. My sincere apologies ladies. I will try to do better over the coming weeks. So here are five layouts to give you inspiration. Hungry Little Monsters by Pam Thorburn.

Pam has used the Sandylion Little Monsters Papers from the Oh Boy collection and has raised the three monsters away from the page using sticky foam pads. Jack by Pam Thorburn

Made using: Sandylion Boy - Expressions Galaxy Paper; Chipboard Stars; Doodlebug Paper Frills; Scenic Route Leters; Dovecraft Brads; Li'l Davis Journalling Stamp Addicted by Julie Corfield

Julie has used Love Elsie papers with rub ons and lace ribbon. The diamond A at the bottom of the page has

been made using a diamond stamp and black embossing powder. You need to see it up close to see how lovely it is. New Sunglasses by Pam Thorburn

Made using: Scenic Route papers; Stickles and Stamps Away Journalling Stamp. New Skirt by Pam Thorburn

Made using: Scenic Route - Providence, Richmond Street & Franklin Street; Basic Grey Rub-Ons; Heidi Swapp Alphabet; Prima Lace Flowers I think you'll agree they are all beautiful. You might also like: And the winner is….. And the winner is….. Special Edition Kit Layouts start today

Picture Perfect was a fantastic class and Karen produced a great picture frame using Woodware Embossing Punches, the Kimberley Poloson Paper Range and a 12 x 12 Creative Imaginations Frame. Check it out for yourself. The pictures do not do it any justice but if you're passing you can see the original in the shop. Watch out for the christmas frame kit coming out nearer christmas. It will make a great gift.

Don't forget we have our 2nd Limited Edition Kit coming out on Monday. Heres a sneek peek. There are only a limited amount and once they're gone, they're gone. You won't want to miss this one.

Well I can't give away too much but each kit comes with a project sheet including sketches and colour pictures to give you ideas. You might also like: Card Challenge No 41‌.. Scrapbook Challenge No 3 Winner Announced Christmas Mini Books

Loads of work to do... and so little time to do it in. You can see by the time on this post just how late it is and I'm still up creating and planning for tomorrows creative day. It's phone off and full steam ahead tomorrow to complete everything I can on my To Do List. I started using a list when I started work at the age of 17 and I have kept to it all through my working life. I have one of the worst memories you will ever come across and am continually making notes and loosing them. The To Do List stays at home on the dining room table and I add to it as and when new projects are needed. I haven't missed a deadline yet but there's always a first time. Anyway, enough of me rattling on, it's been a really busy day with loads going on. We have launched our first Crop Class today with limited spaces as it is the first of 3 taking place during the day. Our second Limited Edition Kit will go on sale from Monday 11th August and a beauty it is too. You will be able to see the projects in the shop from Monday and those of you who buy the kit will receive a project sheet with colour photos. This time the projects have been designed by Morag Cutts, Julie Corfield and Karen Hudson (yes Karen insisted on getting a kit this time so I insisted she make some designs up for you to enjoy.) And finally, for those of you who have asked for pictures of Karens Acrylic Tag book, here they are starring Karens' little Timothy.

Tonights it's the turn of.........

Jeni Boyns and four great layouts using the Making Memories Noteworthy Two Papers. Still Got It

Jen has used doodling and cut out stamped images to show off the picture of Sasha. The phot does not so this layout justice as the use of the flower, the 3d owl and the foam letters "IT" give the layout real dimension. What A pair!

I really like the distressed circles in this layout and the 100% rub on seems to bring the journalling and the photo closer together. Follow The Diva I had real trouble scanning this layout and still managed to get a slightly blurred image so apologies.

For those of you who have not seen the scalloped paper in the flesh, the flowers showing as white in the scan are actually die cut apertures allowing you to put any colour behind. First Kiss Love the shape of this paper and especially the die cut flower (showing up white in the scan).

Jen is really into acrylic paint and Heidi Swapp masks at the moment and the two tone pinks work really well on this layout. You might also like: Lots Of layouts to Inspire you…. More Beautiful Projects…. Card Challenge Number 11…….

And the first one back is by Sally who must have worked flat out to finish this masterpiece. The video yesterday showed the working mechanism of this fantastic project and here is the finished article.

You can see this project in more detail here. The tags for the second page were cut using cricut so what would you do with the piece of paper you have left. Well Sally never throws anything away because as an altered artist you never know when they will come in handy. In this case she made a great page to record her visit to Venice.

Here is a taster of this completed element of the enormous project everyone undertook and a great job you all did. I still say it should have been me doing the class and not Karen but I guess I'll get a turn next time.

We had fun in the Canvas Class last week and everyone did really well making a basic canvas to hang on their walls. Here is the step by step Canvas we did in class using the Christine Adolph Tidepool Papers.

and here are some of the details on the canvas. Altough it looks really simple there was a lot involved. The beads were glued on with Art Glitter Glue and as you can see, once the glue has dried, you can't see it at all.

One of the strips from the stripe paper was glammed up using Glamour Dust. Because this is a clear irridescent glitter, the colour of the pattern on the paper still showed through.

We cut four different squares out 2 times and embossed the first 4 squares using versamark ink, a music stamp and gold detail embossing powder. The final 4 images were cut out and decoupaged using silicone glue.

and finally to finish the canvas off, we added the gold embossed word "destination" on 2 sides of the painted canvas.

You can see more canvas examples here. You might also like: Recent Card Classes‌.. Are you a fan of Twilight A really busy day

Birthday Buzz another card created by Gayle Bond for our Card Classes. The Bee stamp is one of our all time favorites and is really versatile. Gayle likes it too, and good job she does, because everytime we do the pop up class we have trouble getting the same paper in. Poor Gayle then has to make up a few samples in the new papers. All of her creations are great and even better in real life so if you're in or passing through Kent, pop in have a look. You can even take pictures if you make a purchase.

Dream Street Papers Layouts using the Art Nouveau Range. These unassuming papers don't stand out in the crown but Morag has made three inspiring layouts to show them off to their full potential. First up we have "The Fixer". Morag has used a variety of shapes and edges on this layout. Making one of the photos sepia draws your

eyes to the photos (just as it should be of course).

Next up is "TRIO" This time Morag has added paper flowers, beads and feathers to give the layout depth and to add the femenine touch as she introduces her daughter into the photo. I particularly love the stitching on the title.

And last but by no means least we have "Slowly Does It".

This time Morag has kept her embellishments to a minimum however the introduction of the small holly berries, the vellum behind the photo and the blue of the bead and ribbon bow, add to the feeling of winters coldness.

Love all three of these. Thank you Morag. You might also like: It's over and we had a great time Congratulations to Denize Pooh Sticks

Fresh is the title of the first of these lovey layouts by Morag Cutts. Morag has made her 3 photos the main focal point dressing them with a minimal amount of embellishments and papers. This is a very effective way of creating a layout.

and a complete change of theme with "Calm". Again Morag has used 3 photos for her layout.

Take a look at the top left hand corner of the page. The back of the paper has been stamped and the edges curled by hand. The whisp of paper has been wound around a pencil to give a spiral effect.

The chipboard letters have been covered in papers and then glossed. You can do this be either using Glossy Accents or by triple embossing using UTEE.

Watch out for some more of Gayles Cards tomorrow. Photos of my special gift are not good enough to show so I will retake the photos. You might also like: Ice Cream and Cherries - Yummy Card Challenge 55

There are 2 new additions to our growing family.. and here they are. A very warm and fuzzy welcome to Harley and Timothy, only 8 weeks old and sooooooo cute.

Karen originally went out to get Harley (the cute, fluffy black kitten) but someone had reserved Timothy (the tabby)and then decided not to have him so, Karen being Karen and a real softy, decided to bring him home as well. Take a look at this scrumptious little tabby and tell me if you could have left him behind.

I have told Karen that she might have a problem keeping both but somehow I don't think I'm going to get my hands on that cute little bundle of tabby fur. Welcome little lads. We love you already. So I am going to start with Morag Cutts Birthday Book and them give you one different project every day. Have you ever wished you had photos of your childhood friends? I know I have and even the few I have, do not have any names written on the back so I have to rely on my memory (so that's that then). Morag has designed and made this lovely little keepsake for her daughters 4th birthday with photos of all her friends. Morag has used Bazzill Cardstock in Daisy and Princess colours; Papers from Sandylion Girl Collection -

Ok so lets start with karens' Acrylic Book On this front page karen has used Woodware Chippies for the scallop border and the circle, plus Doodlebug Rub Ons for the title and Kelly Panacci's 360 Degrees Clear Stamps, plus oodles of scrummy ribbons for the great selection we have in the shop.

The next two pages are about karen

On this one karen has used a small heart punch to remove a piece of the white cardstock and then punched the same heart out of tangerine cardstock to use as an embellishment. The white lines are made by a fine white paint marker which is used throughout the book.

For embelishment on this page Karen has made use of little gems and flowers which were icluded in the kit. Pages 4 & 5 are about Kerry.

On this page the embellishments are made from chippies, flowers and matted cardstock.

Karen has used small pieces of organza ribbon to decorate the exposed rings on each page. This helps to hide the book rings once the project is finished.

On this page the embelishments are complimented with some Basic Grey Rub-Ons.

These are pages 6 & 7 of karens book.

Here Karen has used a button threaded with embriodery cotton, a cardstock heart embellished with liquid pearls and a ric rac chippie

Here Karen has cut 4 strips from the Scenic Route Papers and matted them onto white cardstock. They have then been stuck leaving a gap between each one.

Pages 8 & 9

Because karen wanted a brighter background she has cut out the circles from the paper and stuck them onto strips of white cardstock mirroring the strips suuck on the previous page.

The ideas for the arrows as photo corners came from the design on one of the papers. The little door at the bottom of the page is held closed by the turn which hides karens journalling.

Pages 10 & 11 show Karens cats (her babies as she calls them) and much loved by all of the family. The page on the left has been made using the green diecut cardstock stuck on white cardstock.

On the back page Karen has used the paint pen to make the pattern. The pattern has come from the Crafters Workshop Templates which have been placed under the acrylic page and traced. We found that if you try to draw through the templates , then the pens would bleed under the template. This page is especially saved for Karens new addition who will be showcased next week we hope!!!!

These Acrylic Books are fantastic to use and addictive. You have been warned. Products used on this project: Scenic Route Metropolis Papers Bazzill Cardstock: White, Tangerine, lime. Chippies

Once Upon A Time is a fantastic range of papers from DCWV. Beautiful to look at and, as we found out in the Crown Class on Thursday night, difficult for some of you to cut up. However, by the time everyone left they had all made a great start and I look forward to seeing all the end results. So, as promised here are the pictures of the Maya Road Crown Book starting with the front page and then the page on the reverse of that page and so on. Any questions, you know where I am......

It's really nice to know that some of the designs we put in the shop and in the galleries actually helps peoples inspiration and encourages them to try it for themselves. These cards were made by a lady in my Saturday stamping class (I'm at home so I don't have your name but I will update tomorrow)and lovely they are too.

This last card is really interesting because the wine glass is heat embossed with white embossing powder onto Glamour Card which is no mean feat. Thank you for sharing. You might also like:

I've had a great evening except for the journey home which took an hour instead of the normal 20 minutes. Why oh why do they have soooooo many roadworks on the A2???? So, what have I been up to?? Well, I went to Thurrock and took a Rusty Pickle class and thoroughly enjoyed myself. It was a great class with loads of new techniques and ideas and I was able to meet Julie Corfield from our DT for the first time.

I've left it a few days mainly beacause of those really cute tiger cubs, but just to say we had a great time in Saturdays Stamping class playing with Stampbord. I took a few photos of the finished projects.

If you're looking at the pictures and thinking "I could never do that", remember that most of the ladies who took the class have NEVER used Stampbord and look what great results they got. It's really easy to use and a great way to play with all those stamps you've got stuffed in boxes and drawers. Go on. You know you want to have a go. You might also like: A little Catch Up‌. Welcome to Sinda and Bira the new two critically endangered tiger cubs born 10 weeks ago, to Siberian tigers, Ingrid and Tugar at Port Lympne and oh they are sooooo cute. I apologise for the quality of the photos and the video but they were taken on a little Kodak camera I borrowed (6 months ago and never returned it) from Karen.

And a short video.

Oh and if you're not into Tigers, they also have some really funny and playful baby Gorillas to brighten up your day.

Or a really friendly Meerkat and his mates.

If you get a chance, go along and have a look for yourself. It's a great day out and Port Lympne is a charity and as such could do with as much support as we can give. I've had a great day out and taken loads of photos. Hope yours was good too SATURDAY, JUNE 14, 2008

Time flies when you're having fun. I have had a really busy day today rying to sort out the shop and the classroom without much success. It's true that you have to make more mess before you can make things straight. Still I have had some success with some of the new goodies like the Penny Black stamps which arrived this

afternoon, are all uploaded and are already selling fast. Here are my favorites. Don't ask me why I like this but I think it will make a great card.

This is one of the many delicate stamps in this time. Watch this space for ideas.

And these I fell in love with because of the tiny individual bugs which just make me smile.

And on top of that I have also added Blue Awning by K & Company. Don't you just love papers like this?

Can't wait to use them but it will have to wait for later as still soooo much to do. Better get craking. Still 2 hours till bedtime.

Vellum.............. How many times have you bought vellum because it "looks nice" and then got it home and wondered what you are going to do with it? Well we put this challenge to Pam Thorburn and gave her the PM 12 x 12 decorated vellum along with some papers and asked her to come up with something special and she really did. The photos as usual do not do this project justice but if you are local, you can see the layout in the shop.

And here are the step by step instructions for you to follow: 1. Using a dry brush, brush white acrylic paint in horizontal swipes over the cardstock and allow to dry. 2. Create a circle mask by tracing around a large plate and then around a smaller plate inside to create concentric circles. The cut around the two circles and use the smaller circle and the outer circle/square for the mask. 3. Using repositionable herma stick the 12 x 12 circle/square to the cardstock, then stick the small circle inside positioning it off centre. 4. Using a stencelling brush or sponge, dab white acrylic paint onto the cardstock, taking care not to disturb the mask, or allow the paint to seep underneath. Remove mask and allow to dry. 5. When dry stick masks to expose the painted section. Stamp onto this exposed section in a random fashion.

6. Paint black acrylic paint onto corrugated card and stamp black lines within the circle. (Cover your painted and stamped circle to protect it if you want.) 7. Tear strips of vellum and stick horizontally towards the bottom, allowing them to spill over the white circle. 8. Stick photo. 9. Print and stick quote strips. 10.Use die cut machine to cut tile from cardstock and vellum. Stick to layout ensuring the vellum is a mirror image of the cardstock title. Use glssy accents on the vellum to add gloss.

11.Cut leaves from vellum (Pam traced around Basic Grey chipboard leaves with a white pen).

12.Stamp and emboss butterflies, flowers and dragonfly on vellum. Cut out and stick.

13.Stick to chipboard flourishes and add stickles for a bit of shine. You might also like: On The Fifth Day Of Christmas More layouts…… The last Saturday Card Class

POW!!!!! I haven't posted for a few days due to total fatigue. Friday was a 4 hour trip that turned into a 7 hour day and Saturday was extremely enjoyable (thank you ladies) but very tiring, so I've had a bit of a rest. I have been scanning and uploading layouts into the website gallery tonight and came across this one from Julie Corfield which I fell in love with. The whole comic effect with the large POW in bright orange and the thick black lines make it stand out. A real fun layout this one using the Shaving paper from karen Foster.

And of course, mum has also used this paper for us and come up with this great layout.

Two different ideas using the same paper. Fantastic work. You might also like: More inspiration from Geraldine Cards for all occasions Random but lovely

Fountains of Madrid Pams fourth layout with step by step how to instructions.

Because this is a multiphoto layout Pam has kept it quite simple. 1. Choose a paper that reflects the colours of the photos you are using. 2. Edge each photo with acrylic paint to give an aged appearance to add some definition to each of them.

3. Arrange the photos on the page but stick one of them with raised foam pads. (In Pams layout she has done this to the 2nd photo from the right at the bottom of the page). 4. Add some subtle but relevant rub-ons around the photos. (This is a good way to use up any left over rubons).

5. Placing a few pieces of ribbon and a flower at the bottom of the page helps to bring the layout together.

6. Finally add a title at the top of the page. (Pam has used a classic font).

7. Finally stamp a journalling block straight onto the page and fill in your journalling. (If you do not feel confident in stamping directly onto the page, stamp onto a matching piece of paper and stick to layout). More from Pam... This is the third of Pams layouts and a beauty it is too. This time Pam has showcased layering, tearing and inking. Wedding Day

1. Tear 3 rectangular blocks of patterned paper. Pam likes to tear the paper to expose the white core. Ink the edges of the paper before sticking onto the cardstock. Pam inked with both red and black inks. Ink edges of cardstock.

2. Swipe a strip of herma across the bottom of the paper, or use double sided tape, to attach the ribbon. Cut a piece of ribbon longer than the page and run herma across the back of it. Stick the ribbon, pleating as you go. (Try not to keep the ribbon too neat or straight).

3. Stick photos. 4. Create a floral embellishment in one corner.

5. Add title and highlight with stickles.

6. Add journalling block (pam sprayed hers with glimmer mist to reduce the whiteness but make sure you allow it to dry before adding your journalling).

7. Attach word fetti phrases. You might also like: Giveaway Winner April 4th Crop Nightmare before Christmas

MONDAY, MAY 26, 2008

A few days of step by step ideas......... to get those ideas and inspiration flowing. Thanks to Pam Thorburn we have 6 projects for you to use. Today we are showcasing two of them, both fairly simple but very effective.

Brand New School Girl is a simple layout involving layering and inking:

1. Cut 2 patterned papers into rectangles, ink edges and stick to the background. 2. Create photo mat from vellum. Tear bottom edge and run the three straight edges around a black ink pad to add some subtle definition. Do the same to the photo. Stick vellum mat and photo to layout. 3. Apply white rub-ons next to photo mat.

4. Frame the top and left of the photo with ribbon trim. Layer lace trim and ric rac across the bottom.

5. Layer on flowers and button centres.

6. Stick Title. 7. Stick vellum to bookplate, add journalling and stick to layout. What A Day, What A Girl - another simply constructed layout but using some effective design elements.

Firstly of all papers, the photos are matted onto plain paper, slightly off set to the left - this allows some elements to "spill over" on the right side of the page. A strip of patterened paper has been added behind the focal photo. This then connects the top title to the rest of the layout.

Faux stitching has been stamped around the perimeters visually connecting them to each other. The tag spills over to the right of the plain mat. This echoes the long patterned strip spilling over at the top left. The blue flower at the bottom balances the projection of the tag and also connects the bottom title to the "black mat".

Finally, the buttons in three places add a little interest and dimension, whilst directing your eyes to look around the page. More tomorrow........... You might also like: Challenge 18 winner

The Scrapathon is over and I can honestly say it has been a pleasure laughing, eating, drinking and scrapping with everyone who spent the weekend with us at Scrapbook Sisters. I don't think I have ever laughed so much. Everyone brought along both new and unfinished projects to work on and some fantastic layouts, books and cards were made. We didn't have time for many challenges but it was great fun never the less. Here are just some of the photos (the ones I can show anyway) and I know Jeannie and a few others also took some photos so I will pst more when I get them. This is my basket on Saturday morning which I filled up on my way to the shop. Believe me this was only a small contribution to all of the goodies we had over the weekend. A big thank you to Julie and Marion who both brought chocolate into the shop during Saturday on their way out. It was greatly appreciated and eaten very quickly.

Whew!!!!!!!!! Its been a busy week and I've been slacking on the BLOG but this is mainly due to the sheer number of classes and events we've done this week so I've got an excuse. Wednesday and Thursday we attended the Annual WI Meeting where we were invited to take the shop and do a demonstration after lunch. As you know, they were two boiling hot days so the hall was warm anyway, but nothing compared to the heat of the stage where Karen and myself did the Demo. The camera which was projecting our demo onto the large screen behind us, showed two very red faces Scrapbook Sisters as the temperature rose by the minute. If you're reading this and you were there, we hope you enjoyed yourselves. As promised I am putting a step by step how to on the website today. The challenge for this WI group in 2007/2008 was to produce a bookmark in a variety of different media. I took some great photos for inspiration. They were all very beautiful and each in its own way, had taken a lot of thought and time to make. Well done ladies. We rushed back on Thursday afternoon to try and unpack all the boxes before karens Travel Book Class. Three of us worked non stop to get it all done and while Karen taught the class I finished off emptying the boxes. The class was a great success. Here are some photos of the book. PHOTOS PENDING Yesterday, Friday, Jeannie rand the shop while me and Karen had a day off (or rather I spent a day catching up with the housework and Karen went to do an early shift at the hospital).
