Card Challenge 16 Yes I know it’s really late but my excuse is “It’s Christmas” well nearly. We have had a bit of a problem with Random Org so we will announce the winner of Challenge 15 asap. A fantastic evening was had by all. Thank you to everyone who came along this evening and for the fantastic food which went down a treat. As you would expect we took loads of photos and here are just a few. These are the ones from my camera. I know that Karen and some others have loads as well and I will try to put them on here as a slide show later this week. Lets start with the food and especially the Vol au vents. Notice the space on the plate. This is Karen's favourite party food and this photo was taken seconds after the foil was removed from the plate. I wonder where the missing Vol au vents went?

Next we have the plates for those who like their food in separate compartments.

And a few of the room. Its once to see everyone having a good time.

Have you ever tried to take a photo of a group of people, including yourself, in a small room with the camera perched on a table. Well itâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s not easy as you will see from the following photos.

And finally one of the whole group. Yes I got it right in the end.

Digi Stamps are launched Yipee last night we launched the first batch of our Digi Stamps designed by Gayle Bond and we thought you’d like to see exactly what you can do with a Digi Stamp. Digi stamps are the same as a normal stamp but without the storage issues. You buy your stamps online and then download the images onto your computer. This allows you to print off the stamps time after time and to resize them to fit your cards or scrapbook pages.

Here are just some of the many examples you will be seeing over the coming months as our Card Design Team use them in their own special way. “Reindeer” Digi Stamp

Our Classroom A lot of people donâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;t realise that we hire out our classroom for special occasions. We can even teach a class of your choice if you would like us to. Well that's exactly what we did a few weeks ago on the day before the Crop, when we held a private Birthday party. The birthday girl chose The Stand Book as the class and I think they all had a great time. Some had never done any crafting before but never the less they all went away with a finished project. At last we are launching our Card Challenge and to get things off to a flying start we are giving away a lovely bundle of Blog Candy. Gayle's been playing with stamps again and she made some lovely cards for her last card class. This is one of the only times that Gayle has used someone else's stamps and she did a lovely job. The stamps used were Dovecrafts clear stamps and although they don’t look that much in the packet, they certainly come to life when Gayle uses them. Here are just a few of the many cards Gayle made for the class.

Browns and Blues

We have used some really bright colours lately so we decided to tone it down a bit and order in some beautiful GCD papers for class. Here are three of the four layouts used for the last fortnights classes. Strangely, the layout showing Karen with a â&#x20AC;&#x153;randomâ&#x20AC;? cyclist has gone missing, but I promise I will find it and post it later. We still have a small stock of these papers in the shop for those of you who asked for additional papers in the classes, or for anyone else who wants to have a play.

The flower was made using the free stamp on this months Craft Stamper.

A bit of fun We have been thoroughly underwhelmed this year by the summer “beach” papers. Everything seems so dull and dreary, so we decided to improvise and make summer layouts with bright cardstock and just one paper. The paper was from American Crafts and basically was just a sheet of summer words. Here is one of the three (unfortunately at time of posting I can’t find the other two but I will put them on later). The inspiration for this layout was a stamp by Marij Rahder which I fell in love with.

Everything on the layout is either hand cut or punched. I made a template for everyone to use in class and all of the finished layouts looked great. It just shows you, if you haven’t got the right paper you can always make your own background. You might also like: A bit of a break Loads of fun Fun in the Sun…….

Alice in Wonderland Thats what we all thought when we saw Sallys creation. I still canâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;t tell you why but it just did.

A very busy weekend We have had a fantastic two days spent with friends both new and old. It all started on Saturday with our first of two Birthday Bashes. Because we are repeating the Birthday Bash day next Saturday we can’t show you too much but here is just one picture to tempt you. Loads more will be shown here after next Saturday.

Sunday opening Well not really but we will be up at Hempstead Valley Shopping Centre tomorrow with a selection of goodies from the shop and for the very first time we will be selling our own cards. So if you're at a loose end and the football doesnt appeal, come and see us and say hello. Shoes……………….

Yes I know it was an age ago and loads has gone on since then, but at last, over the next few days Scrapbook Sisters will be showcasing some beautiful and extraordinary shoes made by some very clever people. The original challenge came about after an article in Craft Stamper a few months ago. THe magazine sold out immediately and after the challenge was set, shoes started to arrive in the shop. I don’t think we’ll put names to them until all of the shoes have been shown. I will put two on per day in no particular order, weather permitting (photos are being taken in the garden). So without further ado here are we go………. Number One This beautiful sandal is decorated with tiny shrink plastic butterflies which catch the light and sparkle.

Number Two The main part of the shoe on this one is stamped and painted.

There are loads more scrummy shoes to come so keep checking back.

Another little box Gayle has completed the second of her five boxes. The first was all flowers and lace but for the second she has chosen autumn using leaves of different colours and little creatures to decorate the lid.

Gayle has made the little spider and the fly using wire and beads. The ladybird is a wooded bead cut in half. Here are a few more pictures.

The insects looked so real even Harry was fooled.

A Closer Look The idea of a Stamping Extravaganza was to showcase some of the many ways to use stamps. Each person in the class received two sets of Paper Artsy stamps as part of their kit so that they could carry on creating when they got home. Here is a peek at some of the pages.

It makes me smile when I see magic and that is quite often when Gayle is being creative. A few days…..yes days ago, I gave Gayle a set of papier mache boxes and asked her to see what she could come up with. So she took this

and made it into thisâ&#x20AC;Śâ&#x20AC;Ś

What impressed me the most were the beautiful flowers made using tissue paper and coloured with Copic Ciaos. Gayle still has 3 more boxes left. I canâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;t wait to see what she does with those. We have a large selection of boxes in the shop in all shapes and sizes suitable for any projects. Day 2 and two recent projects Karen has been going great guns with the In Miniature classes which have become more and more popular, so much so that she is now teaching 2 classes every month. This project was created by Karen for In Miniature No 19 and is one of my favourites. Unfortunately Karen was to ill to teach the repeat class on Tuesday so I took this photo to cheer her up

and her is a peek at the book they made.

Don't forget, after the two classes for In Miniature No 20 Karen will only be doing one In Miniature per month PLUS she will also be going back and teaching some of the first In Miniature Classes by popular demand. The first is taking place in June and will be the Carousel Book. Last week I taught a class called â&#x20AC;&#x153;When we were youngâ&#x20AC;?. The idea was to make a book about yourself based on your birth year and years that stand out in your life. Everyone had a good time and we had great fun reminiscing about our childhood and what we remembered Here is a look at the book.

It begins………………. So lets start this photo fest with a few pictures of our younger scrappers. For those of you who don't know, we hold a kids class once a month where we make either scrapbook pages (normally A4 size) or perhaps a simplified version of one of our fortnightly mini book classes. We have all been amazed at how talented these kids are and how fast they pick things up. In the April class we had two birthdays so here are a few candid shots.

It was a great class, everyone worked really well and the cakes were awesome!!! Next a few of the photos from Aprils Limited Edition class with some of the works in progress. Even though we make at least 10 examples using the class kits, everyone looks at the papers and manages at least one original layout. Sometimes the papers really talk to some people and they churn out 5 or 6 layouts in a class. If you live to far away to do these classes at the shop, we do offer a kit only version with a how to magazine included in the price. This is becoming a popular way to take part for those of you who canâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;t do Saturday classes.

What a HOOTâ&#x20AC;Ś. We all loved Gayles latest card class especially the beautiful owl which Gayle drew especially for the occasion. Everyone who came to class got a template in their kit so Iâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;m sure we will see a lot more owl cards in the near future. Here are some of the photos I took the day after.

The wire glasses really finish this owl off.

Look at the wonderful moon in the background. This was made using acetate, Glossy Accents, tissue paper

and distress ink pads. Oh and a bit of glitter throw in for luck. It really shimmers.

This owl was set on an easel card and was the card made in class. The tree and leave templates were also included in the kit.

And of course we also had to have an owl made from metal. Isnâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;t he cute?

All Ten For those of you who came to the Special Edition Kit Class here are the ten layouts used as examples in class. We loved this kit. I think it was our favourite so far in 2010.

I thought I would show some of the photos taken in classes over the past few weeks that couldnt be shown at the time as they would spoil the other repeat classes. I have to start with our fortnightly classes which involved lots of cutting holes in the papers some of our ladies found this very challenging……..

SHOE CHALLENGE Oh we couldn't resist this. At any mention of shoes most of us make that sighing sound much the same as when we take that first bite of chocolate. What is it with women and shoes? Well in the May 2010 Craft Stamper on page 68/69 you can see a wonderful project by Gail Milburn using Grungepaper to make a stunning pair of shoes. They are amazing and Craft Stamper have been kind enough to provide you with the template. So the challenge is....................... Make your own pair of shoes out of any medium and decorate in your own unique way, then, take 3 photos of your creation and e-mail them to us on sales@scrapbooksisters.co.uk. We will show them all on the blog and the winner will receive a ÂŁ20 Voucher to spend at Scrapbook Sisters. If you live locally or you would like to send your creation into the shop, we will take some fun photos and displaythe shoes for all to see. (Please note that we are unable to return any items sent to us unless a pre paid envelope to the correct value, is enclosed.)

I think we can have amazing fun making these over Easter. Closing date is Saturday 24th April at midnight and the winner will be announce on 1st May 2010. Have a great Easter.
