Cards from Card Class Thursday, June 13, 2013 and I must admit that the first two were wholly inspired by the wonderful examples on display at the Craft barn Extravaganza a few weeks ago. The first was made using a stamp from Indigo Blu and my new favourite (as you can see from my previous post)
The second is from stamps by Paper Artsy
and the rest were just ideas I had.

They look great together.

Love this photo Monday, July 08, 2013 Yep, back from sunny Italy with over a thousand photos and the best one I have actually seen so far wasn’t even taken by me. It’s this lovely picture of two of my grandchildren.
Loads of things to share this week including the layouts and cards from Junes Classes (seems so long ago now). Enjoy the sunshine this evening. After my first day back at work I’m having dinner in the garden. xx
Spotlight on Chris Neal Wednesday, July 10, 2013 As usual Chris has been adapting class layouts and putting her own twist on her pages. And as you would expect by now, the results are lovely. Here is the first one

I love the scattered o’s and x’s making use of a border die and then fragmenting it to add interest to the page.

Quilting Update Wednesday, July 24, 2013 Morning everyone. Just a quick update for all of you budding quilters out there. Now that the current groups are well on their way I am considering starting up another group as I know that some of you missed out the first time. I need 8 for each group so if you are interested please e-mail me at ladiesthatcraft@live.co.uk and if I can get the numbers I will start a new group.
This is a message for the current quilting groups. Groups:- Bees, Sew Sew and Hand Quilters, I have just sent the patterns you need for the inner borders. These are the ones we tried in class this week. Any questions please let me know. Groups:- Material Girls and The Bobbins. The red dotty material is now here. I have cut it into the requested lengths and you can pick it up from me any time Friday( can you please ring first to make sure I am here). Thank you to everyone for a great evening. I can’t believe how much you have all done.

Layouts Friday, August 02, 2013 I haven’t had time to share the class layouts and cards from Julys classes so over the next few days I will try to post a few of them. Here is the first layout using holiday photos of my trip to Venice.
I loved this stripy paper. It felt like the Mediterranean, warm and welcoming. The panoramic photo is the tab to a hidden journalling pocket
and the piano keys is made using the “Forever in Time” Ribbon tape which feels like fabric.
26
LADIES THAT CRAFT
More tomorrow. Enjoy the sunshine xx
Another Holiday Layout Saturday, August 03, 2013 This time I used stamps for the embellishments and the idea for the sun was taken from a card I saw on Pinterest.
I loved the whale paper and built my page around the design. Some of you said you were going to add glitter to the waves but I kept mine plain.
LADIES THAT CRAFT
27
I now have quite a collection of word and saying stamps which are coming in useful while I am doing my holiday journal (I’ll share that at a later date when it is finished.) Looks like a sunny day again today so off to do some chores. Spit spot
Creativity 101 T-Shirt Class Sunday, August 04, 2013 Just a quick update. This class has now sold out so if you missed out and would still like to do this class then you can now preorder a kit along with an on-line class. This will be released in October after the class has taken place and will cost £30.00. Click HERE for details. (9/8/13 - NOW SOLD OUT) Todays inspiration is one of the cards I made for class in July using a new set of Stampendous stamps, originally bought to decorate my London Book pages. Everything on the card is flat except for the “Thank You” which is raised on sticky pads. Loads more still to share so keep checking back. Have a great day xx.
New Layout Friday, August 09, 2013 This one from the last Scrapbook Class before summer break and one of my favourites.
28
LADIES THAT CRAFT
Had terrible trouble photographing with the light today so sorry about the quality.
For those of you who came to the class, the online class instructions will be in the online classroom today. I’m starting a new project this evening so watch this space for pictures and step by step instructions FREE in the online classroom to all Ladies That Craft Members. Have a good one xx
Summer Layout Saturday, August 10, 2013 I had some lovely bright photos of my granddaughter in the paddling pool and wanted to make a summer page for her album. The bubbles in the background were made using white card and then edged very gently with a Distress Ink. The borders were die cut using a TH Sizzix Die. Have a great day xx
LADIES THAT CRAFT

Ok Started at last Saturday, August 10, 2013 I wanted a project to make during the summer break, something I could pick up and put down and try out new and underused techniques on. Well at last I’ve started and here is my first picture. Don’t forget I will also do this as a free online class to members of ladies That Craft so if you haven’t joined us yet click here. Having a day out tomorrow so will be back on Monday with an update. Have a good one xxx
30
LADIES THAT CRAFT
Another step Wednesday, August 14, 2013 This is really an experimental project so I have decided to make the pages in three different ways. Today I have hand sewn three pages with wadding sandwiched in the middle and leaving one edge open to attach to the spine of the book cover. To decorate these pages I will insert a small cutting mat between the layers to ensure that any fabric paint, stamps do not bleed into the next page.
The next instalment on the blog will show the pages completely decorated. Members of ladies That Craft will have access to the free class showing all of the stages in detail. If you are not a member and would like access to the classroom, you can join HERE. Remember it is only £6.50 for a lifetime membership. I’m away for the weekend so will update again next week. Have a good one xxx
Playing with photos Saturday, August 17, 2013 I’ve set this up to post on Saturday while I’m away so hopefully it will work. My new camera (thank you for the heads up Geraldine) is amazing and the pictures I am taking are improving all the time. Here are a few I took last Sunday of my Granddaughter Charlotte. The zoom lens is wow!!! I even managed a reasonable photo of Timmy my cat. More soon. I plan to take loads of photos over the next few days. Have a good weekend xxx

Beamish Wednesday, August 21, 2013 If you’re looking to go away for a long weekend then a place to consider is Beamish the living museum of the North. On my recent trip I spent the day there with family and we had a fantastic time. There are trams, old busses, all working and free to ride on from place to place (all included in the entrance ticket price), old houses to explore including an old dentists, a piano teachers house, and then loads of shops such as the corner sweetie shop where 32

you can buy wonderful sweets and chocolates. Here are a few of the photos I took on the day.
A picnic in the little park around the bandstand.

What I liked about it was that the people dressed up in clothes appropriate for the times and were all happy to tell the stories of the day. The Grandchildren loved it. Well worth a visit. xx
Fabric Journal Progress Thursday, August 22, 2013 I am really enjoying working on this project. I had to search through all of my stamps to find the right ones and I found some beauties that I haven’t used for ages. Note to self – must sort out my stamps

35
Don’t forget, if you would like to take the online class that goes with this project you will need to join the Ladies That Craft club HERE. The free class will be released in September to all members. More soon xx
Warner Bros Studio a hit Thursday, August 29, 2013 Loved it. Every minute of it. So much to do, see and photograph. (Yes one of the only places of its kind I have ever been to where photography is not restricted so you can click away to your hearts content). Happiest moment‌..riding on a broomstick across London.

and……..no I won’t spoil it. Just, if you have the chance, go and see it for yourselves. WOW. xx Warner Studios link.
I found my first Mini Book Sunday, September 01, 2013 It was so nice to find my Japanese Book that I made as my first Crop Class way back in 2006. It was my first attempt at a piano hinge book and I loved the finished effect.
LADIES THAT CRAFT
37
You can see a few more sneek peeks on Facebook and all of the detailed photos on the Ladies That Craft site so pop across and take a look. I even used a few peel offs which is unheard of for me. Have a great day xx
Baby Baby Tuesday, September 03, 2013 Ooh found another Mini Book and this time its one I made for a new mummy and her baby. One of my favourite parts of the book was the front cover made by deep embossing the squares and padding them before they were added to the cover.
No idea how long ago it was but it was during the time I was obsessed with Cricut Cartridges. I must admit they do make great embellishments.
38
LADIES THAT CRAFT
You can see more in the Ladies That Craft Classroom. xx
Back to class Sunday, September 08, 2013 It was really good to see everyone again yesterday after such a long summer break. I think it was probably one of the noisiest classes I’ve had for ages with everyone catching up on holidays, family and just having a good laugh. Here are a few photos from the class with works in progress. There was stamping Washi Tape And loads of die cutting And of course we were all tidy crafters and finally the layouts we made Had a great time ladies, thank you and see you all again next month. xx
LADIES THAT CRAFT
39
Christmas Past Thursday, September 12, 2013 Here are a few pages of my Christmas book which was made for a class in 2008. I used the Acrylic as my front cover to protect the book. I stamped on either side of the 40
LADIES THAT CRAFT
acrylic with a Penny Black stamp using a glue pad and then gold glitter pushed into the glue. The trick to getting this to work is to be patient. Leave your work to dry for 24 hours. When this is done you can brush away the excess glitter. The snow is made from Liquid Pearls and then when dry, I have added Frosted Lace Stickles. Make sure you give both plenty of time to dry. The tree was glittered and then attached to the page with silicone so that is raised. The trees were cut from the triangle paper in the kit. Notice that some of the trees are raised to give the page depth. The border separating the the page is from a sticker sheet. Because this was made for a Christmas yet to take place, I wanted to make sure that I got everyone to take part in the completing of the book. I added extra pages throughout the book, their size depending on the size of my photos, and on the back of each I have included some questions for each person to complete. This means I have information about Christmas 2008 for my book and examples of everyone's handwriting. I will use rub ons to decorate the photos. This was one of my favourite pages. I did show everyone how to make the pop up snowman in the class. Not sure I can still remember how to do it now.
LADIES THAT CRAFT
41
42
LADIES THAT CRAFT
This is the reverse of the bauble page. I kept the decoration to a minimum by just adding punched holly around the edge as I intend to add journaling after Christmas. This page was separated with a sticker border and is the plainest of the pages but left deliberately for photos or journaling after Christmas. As you can see there are 3 photo inserts before the leaf page. All of the leaves on the page have been individually glittered using a Quickie Glue Pen and Glamour dust. This is the plainest of the pages with just a sticky border across the middle. Photos and journaling will be added after Christmas. LADIES THAT CRAFT
43
The pages were embellished using the 2 holly leaves on the sticker sheet as a pattern. Note the circle on the side of the book. The circle is a mechanism for producing the pop up bear. Those of you who chose to add this to their book were shown how in class. The owl is by Hero Arts and was provided in the kit. The cage is made from the window template. I removed the windows and then cut small strips of paper and glued then to the window. Once dry I coloured with gold paint dabber and then put on a thick coat of Glossy Accents on the cage giving it depth. The owl was coloured in using ultra fine glitter and was attached to the cage by his feet. The cage is attached to the page only by one gold brad to give movement. This book has photos of each of the family members who will be there at Christmas. By building your book this way, you can add as many photos and extra pages as you want. The final page is decorated only with red glitter on the berries and is being saved for a family picture. And lastly the back page.

Looking back on past projects is always fun. I am going to sit and work out how the mechanisms worked. I might use them again this year.xx
Another Christmas Album Friday, September 13, 2013 Yes I know its not Christmas yet but I have so many projects to put on here before I can put the new ones on so you’ll have to bear with me. This time I made the book from figure eight beer mats and taught in class.
46
LADIES THAT CRAFT
It all looked really easy until we started to make apertures in some of the mats to hang decorations from. It was fun though.
LADIES THAT CRAFT
47
I made one page per person and all of the photos were printed out in black and white. If you ask in your local pub they might give you a few free beer mats. This was one of the easiest but also one of my favourites. Don’t forget to take a look at my Facebook page as well. I’ve just added photos of the Connect Four Class I did using Paper Artsy stamps. Have a great day xx
Beach Book Tuesday, September 17, 2013 or seaside book, or somewhere to put the photos of your last seaside holiday. I really enjoyed making this one especially as all of the pages are shaped.

To make this book I chose clip art pictures with a seaside theme from Google. I then enlarged them and cut them out to use as templates. I then cut them out of chipboard. You could do this with any theme. Hope you get a chance to have a go at your own shaped book. If you do please share your photos by e-mailing me and I will showcase them on here. Have a great day xxx
The first Card Class after summer break Friday, September 20, 2013 and it was great to see everyone again. It’s surprising how much we all miss our classes and all of the chatting and creating. I had a great time. Of course, even though it is only September, I had to include a Christmas card, so I started off with a simple one to get everyone in the mood. Here are the four we made
My card classes take place twice a month at Parkwood Community Centre in Rainham, Kent. You can see all of the classes available HERE. You do not need to be a member to come to class and all of the classes are suitable for beginners and experienced crafters. If you want to have a chat before you make a decision please e-mail me at ladiesthatcraft@live.co.uk and I will either reply by e-mail or ring you depending on your preference.

Tuesday Scrapbook Class Thursday, September 26, 2013 It was lovely to see everyone again after our summer break. To start off the classes again I chose new papers from Carta Bella which would be great for a boy layout but as I like to be different I used them to make two layouts with our Bruge photos. A favourite Photo I liked the idea of extending the layout using the bunting. And the stitch stamps are ones I’ll use again and again. They make a great addition to my stamp collection. Giggle Sometimes you snap away and are lucky enough to get a great photo and the one on the left of my mum is one of those photos. The feathers were stamped and cut out to add dimension. Card class tomorrow so I’ll be sharing some cards later in the week. Have a great day xx.

Great Card Class today Friday, September 27, 2013 I have decided to start putting my name on my card examples as everyone is getting so good at making them that I can’t pick mine out. We had a great time today. Thank you to everyone who helped tidy up. I did manage to get back to work on time. Don’t forget, if you want to have a go at making some Christmas cards come along to class. You can book HERE. You’ll have a good time, promise.
I’ve made a start Sunday, September 29, 2013 well one card last class and three this class. Will it be five next class, you’ll have to wait and see. Here are the cards from last Thursday.

And finally something other than Christmas. I still find it hard to make Christmas cards in September but still have loads of ideas.
Card classes take place twice a month and you can book your place HERE. Photos of Saturdays Creativity 101 coming soon so keep checking back. Have a great week. xx

Before the creation comes the mess Monday, September 30, 2013 and boy can we get messy when we want to. This time I made sure that everyone had a table to themselves but I think next time I’ll increase that to two. And a few finished pages Tune in to see the original Creativity 101 project later this week. Have a great day xx.

OK so I know you’re waiting Wednesday, October 02, 2013 for me to show you the Creativity 101 project from Saturday, but I can’t help sharing this photo of my Timmy.

Tired out after a long night prowling,
he has taken to putting his paw over his eyes when he sleeps. Love him to bits. Promise the project will be on here soon. xx
Celebrating Family Friday, October 04, 2013 This is a great project to put on the wall instead of just a family photo. I used a 7 Gypsies frame but you could use and divided frame from the Range or even a 99p shop.
I originally did this as a Crop project and have since made two more as commissions on Etsy.
58
LADIES THAT CRAFT
The easiest way to fill all of the frames is to cut cardstock exactly the right size to fill each frame and then decorate each one as if it were a greeting card or ATC. All you need to remember to do is keep your colours to a minimum, say five colours maximum and you will always get a fantastic effect.
I also used embossed metal to add dimension although four layers of aluminium foil work just as well. Enjoy your evening xxx
A Winter Book Saturday, October 05, 2013 I love penguins and polar bears so when I made this book for a class I thought it would be a great idea to use them as a theme. Although there are no photos in it yet, I hope to get some snowy photos nearer this Christmas. I used loads of glitter and lots of punched snowflakes. Hope you like it xxx

First Day at School Sunday, October 06, 2013 I can’t believe that our little Granddaughter started pre-school recently. Here is the first school photo taken the day before her first day as she tried on her new clothes. I love the bunches in her hair. Photos like this are taken in most families and if you look back at your own photos you will find quite a few. This is a great opportunity to add one more layout to your family album either just showing one particular moment or putting all of the family new school photos on one. Here is an example of school photos being used on a layout. The photo in the front middle is a photo taken at school. The one on the left is one day after school and the one on the right is me starting in the last two years at secondary school when the uniform changed. I am launching a new competition very soon, something a bit different and open to everyone, wherever in the world you are, so watch this space for exciting details coming soon.

Creativity 101 Project at last Tuesday, October 08, 2013 This is a really difficult project to photograph mainly because the book hangs from a frame. I really enjoyed making this mini book on a stand. Two weeks on I am still adding pages. I don’t seem to be able to stop. Here are a few photos for inspiration. Front Cover And a few of the pages And to date there are at least 15 more pages and counting. Each of the pages was made using a different technique and a variety of products both new and old. Everyone had a great time and I will share some of the classes lovely pages soon. For those of you who came to class, I will put full instructions on the Ladies That Craft site for you to refer to. I will probably keep adding more pages as the weeks go on so keep checking back. xx

Time to share Sunday, October 13, 2013 some of the pages made by the ladies at the Creativity 101. Although I make a selection of pages to copy I am always delighted and surprised at the lovely adapted and new pages that everyone comes up with. None more so than this one where the Memory Box penguins were put to good use.
And then there were these. Looking good girls

Scrapping Your Family on Saturday Tuesday, October 15, 2013 This is a message for all of the ladies coming to the class on Saturday. I will add to this post later this week however I thought I would give you a head start and let you know that one of my layouts will include an A4 black and white photo. If you are able to print a photo off at home try to make it as light as possible as we will be stamping on the photograph. If you can’t do this there will be other layouts to choose from so don’t panic. Update 18.10.13 I have also used ten (yes 10) 3 1/2" x 2 1/2" photos each one with a different theme, both colour and black and white so just a selection of 4 x 6 photos will do and you can then cut

Christmas cards Wednesday, October 16, 2013 Todays card class was great fun with loads of glitter and mess, but that's half the fun. Unfortunately it’s too dark to take photos of todays of the cards so here is a reminder of some of last years examples.

So we had eight to choose from Thursday, October 17, 2013 and everyone got covered in glitter and made loads of mess.
I enjoyed making them all but I loved the little cards the most.
These cards are 3 square and are really easy to make. In class, two of these cards counted as one card ( so really there were 10 cards to choose from. The little robins are a great stamp set from Woodware.

Scrapping Your Family and I Remember 2013 Saturday, October 19, 2013 It was a great class today with loads of die cutting (I think I need another Sizzix machine to add to the two we already use to reduce the queues). And some lovely finished results. Here is the class at the end of the three hours (and they are all still smiling) And the double layout celebrating the year 2013. Page one Page Two and I had great fun making the little yellow flowers. More layouts tomorrow. I’m now ready to make my challenge project for the launch on Monday. Have a good evening xxx

More Layouts Sunday, October 20, 2013 Two more layouts from yesterdays class. Each intended to be a single layout This one using an A4 portrait photo and this one using an A4 landscape photo. I did this because I wasn’t sure what photo everyone would bring in with them. Surprisingly, put side by side they make a great double layout to. Watch out for tomorrows competition launching tomorrow morning. Don’t miss it xxx

Mail Art Challenge Monday, October 21, 2013 This new and exciting challenge starts today and a new theme will be announced on the third Monday of every month. Before I share our new Design Teams examples with you, let me tell you how it works. 1. Your envelope must be no bigger than an A5 envelope (it can be smaller of course). 2. Your envelope must be posted using a 50p stamp (normal second class mail). 3. Entry is a 50p stamp which should be enclosed in your envelope, along with your name and address. 4. Your envelope should be sent to: Ladies That Craft, 4 Sandling Way, St Marys Island, Chatham, Kent. ME4 3AZ 5. The top 5 will be chosen by the Design Team and posted on the Blog and from that top 5 a winner will be chosen and the 50p stamps you have all sent in will pay for ALL of the entries to be sent to the winner. Any additional stamps will be carried forward to the next challenge. 6. Anything goes. You can stamp, stick, stencil, mask infact anything you want to do. 7. Entries from all countries are welcome however as I will not be able to use foreign stamps to send out the prize so I will donate all of the foreign stamps to a charity (more details later). 8. Entries must arrive by Monday 11th November and the winner and runners up will be 72

announced on Friday 15th November. See its simple. So lets begin. This months challenge is HALLOWEEN no surprise there then, but such a fun subject. Here are the DT examples to give you an idea. Gayle Bond Gayle has chosen to decorate the front of the envelope and has left plenty of space for the address and stamp. The white envelope measures 15cm x 15cm (6” x 6”) Maria Dickson Maria got excited and sent two envelopes. Both began life as plain white A5 envelopes. Maria has used a circle mask so that the address can be seen clearly. Sally West Sally has used a standard kraft envelope measuring 16cm x 11.5cm (6 1/4” x 4 1/2”) and has decorated both sides. Sally got so carried away that she forgot to leave space for the address and had to add a label. This is the back of the envelope. Julie Wilson And lastly mine. When I chose the theme all I could think of was the witches in the Wizard of Oz. Love those shoes. I wanted to cover the shoes with red glitter but I didn’t think the postman would appreciate that so I opted for glitter stars instead. I didn’t add a stamp because I didn’t need to send it to myself. Now its your turn. I can’t wait to see all of your wonderful decorated envelopes. xxx

Thank you Newington Wednesday, November 13, 2013 I had a great time in Newington on Monday teaching some lovely ladies in the local village hall. I was really proud of myself for remembering everything until I went to take the photos and realised I had left the camera card in the laptop at home. Out came the trusty Iphone. Not a great photo but the best I could do at the time. Not all of them were card makers but everyone, yes everyone, completed these four Christmas cards. Thank you for making me so welcome. Mum and I really enjoyed ourselves. Don’t forget, if you have a group of crafters and would like a class, please contact me at ladiesthatcraft@live.co.uk . Ok now back to my embroidery. New Nanny once more Sunday, November 24, 2013 I am often asked why my blog address is new nanny when I mostly use it to post my projects for Ladies That Craft club so here is why this blog originally came about. A few years ago when my first Granddaughter was born I decided it was time to start a personal blog so that I had some sort of record of my growing family. As time has moved on I have been blessed to have four beautiful grandchildren who I love very much. From time to time I add new photos to remind me of how lucky I am. Here is a picture of my newest Granddaughter Olivia Rose.
With three beautiful girls my little grandson doesn’t get enough of the lime light so here is a quick arty photo of my little Grandson who is growing fast and is still so cuddly.

Looking forward to seeing you all tomorrow. xxx
A fun class tonight Tuesday, November 26, 2013 and lots of playing with inks and die-cuts. It’s too late to take any decent photos of the layouts so here is a photo taken in class. Creativity 101 in New Romney Sunday, December 01, 2013 One of the things I love doing most is travelling out to meet and teach groups around the South East. Yesterday, with my team (Mum and Maria) I visited, for the second time this year, a lovely group of ladies in New Romney. At the beginning of the class everyone wanted to do the same as me but by the end, creativity won out and everyone had their own fantastic colour combinations and their own ideas to make the project their own. Here are a few photos of works in progress. And a happy group at the end I have put loads more photos of the day on the Ladies That Craft Facebook page, so pop across if you would like to see more. I am now taking bookings for classes in 2014 so if you have a group who would like to take a class with me please contact me at ladiesthatcraft@live.co.uk for more information. One to share Thursday, December 12, 2013 Just wanted to quickly share this lovely completed project by Bobbie Bartlett who came to my recent New Romney Class. Bobbie has given it a wonderful Christmassy look.
Lovely work Bobbie. Thank you for sharing xxx
It’s 7am Saturday, December 14, 2013 and I’ve a;ready been up nearly two hours. My brain is in overdrive so I decided to get some bits done before everyone else wakes up. First on my list, of course was a cup of tea then a quick look through Facebook and now onto the blog. I have been going through some recent photos and realised that I haven’t yet shared some of the finished Nine Square boxes that the ladies brought back to class this time. I’m sorry but I didn’t take names for each project but you know who you are. The first was made using Lavinia Stamps and was all about fairies.

H will definitely miss the tree. and T hates the rain so has spent all day sprawled on the settee. Think I’ll come back as a cat. Just made up the last of the kits (only 2 left) and embellishment bundles (only 4 left). Thank you to everyone who ordered. The last of the kits goes out tomorrow morning so watch out for the postie. Oh well time to pack away and get the new bits out. I’ve got four cards to make for next weeks class. Looking forward to seeing everyone again xx
So I was up with the Lark this morning Friday, January 03, 2014 and the rain was hammering against the glass and the wind was blowing a gale, so I opened the curtains and worked at the table next to the window. There’s something really cosy about sitting indoors while Mother Nature does her thing outside. I’ve still got loads of catching up to do and top of my list was to complete a Mail Art piece for this months challenge. Here,at last, is my entry. I used one of my favourite Hero Art stamps of 2013, Promarkers and a lovely snowflake die from Memorybox. 102
LADIES THAT CRAFT
Then I set about making my 2014 inserts for kits as I needed something to say “welcome and thank you”. I came up with this I think I will make them with lots of different flowers in different colours. That should keep me busy. And lastly I have been busy designing and making layouts for 2014. During the crop on 12th December I managed to die cut several of these. no not the background, the soldiers. So better get cracking and make those layouts. “And it’s still only 9am.” Have a great day and don’t forget to decorate an envelope for the Mail Art Challenge. xxx
Whichever way you look at it Saturday, January 04, 2014 I made loads of layouts in 2013. I went through the blog and classroom last night to see how many I could add to my 2013 folder. Here is the result I made this collage on Picasa. It’s ok but quite confusing and some of the layouts ended up on the bottom. So I then made this one Much clearer but it was when I was putting this one together that I realised there were several missing so I need to go through them all and photograph those I can’t find. I was going to do this with all the cards too but I don’t know if I have enough time. This year I am going to use the Project 365 app on my phone to keep a record of what I make and when. It will be much easier. Enjoy the weekend. The weather doesn’t look too good so plenty of time to create. Have LADIES THAT CRAFT

First Card Class of 2014 Friday, January 10, 2014 and what a lovely class it was. Everyone was chilled out after Christmas break and everyone just worked at their own pace. The magazine I was referring to in class with the free set of stamps is Get Stamping Issue 6. I can’t resist a magazine with free stamps. It’s a really good way of adding your collection at a fraction of the cost. So here are Thursdays Cards If you would like to come along and make a few cards then please e-mail me at ladiesthatcraft@live.co.uk You can be a complete beginner or just a seasoned crafter looking to have a few hours “playing” and meeting some new friends. Everyone is welcome and if you are new to class you will receive a lifetimes FREE membership to the Ladies That Craft Club worth £6.50. Classes start at £11.00 and a full list can be found both HERE on the Blog and Here on the class booking site. Right, time to finish the ironing and stroke all of the new products that arrived today. Have a great evening. xx
It’s good to finish off Wednesday, January 15, 2014 Sometimes when I’ve got a bit of time I try and sort out some of the many, many boxes and bags I have in the garage and in the loft. Today I found an unfinished project at the bottom of a bag which was originally meant as an entry to an mixed media challenge. I doubt whether I will ever finish it but I thought I’d share it anyway.

Sneak Peek for Scrapping Your Family on Saturday Thursday, January 16, 2014 Ok so this is my new years resolution, to give a bit of colour detail and photo sizes so that you can match your photos. Layout one LADIES THAT CRAFT
105
As you can see the main colour is red and the theme is outside so any 4 x 6 portrait photo either in colour or black and white. Layout Two Lovely bright oranges and blues for this one so again you need a 4 x 6 photo but a bit more summery. Not sure it would suit a beach picture though but your choice. Looking forward to seeing everyone again. xx

Look what I just made Thursday, January 23, 2014 and it all came about because I was having “issues” with a roll of tin (aluminium) foil. Don’t you just hate it when you can’t find the end and when you do, it tears and makes a right mess. I did think “what a waste” and then had a eureka moment which resulted in this card. So I thought I’d share how I did it so that you can have a go as well. This is what I used. and here is a step by step for you to follow. Firstly take i piece of foil measuring approx 24” long. Fold it over and over four times and then scrunch it up. Fold in half and then scrunch up again. You should end up with this Now place between the perspex plate and run through your Sizzix or similar machine. This is what comes out Lay your chosen die on the foil and die cut. I used the Queen of Hearts die from Memory Box. To make this work you need to use a pin to poke out the little bits first before taking the whole shape out. Be really gentle Next using the remaining compact foil, cut out a buckle (I used the Taylored Expressions die) Now cut out the following: In Black 12cm x 12 cm 12.8cm x 12.8cm In White LADIES THAT CRAFT
107
12.5cm x 12.5cm 13cm x 13cm Take the black card measuring 12cm x 12cm and put through the Sizzix using an embossing folder Make up the card so that it looks like this but do not attach the embossed piece yet. Stamp a piece of seam binding and attach to the card as shown using the buckle as decoration Attach the foil shape to the card. Cut out a red heart in cardstock. Use a ball tool and a foam mat to make a raised heart. Add the silicone glue to the back of the heart and stick in place. Now add some small gems but not to many. To finish paint some Glossy Accents onto the heart. I hope you enjoy making this card and playing with foil. Don’t forget to follow the Blog if you want to keep up to date with more tutorials coming soon. xx

Scrapping Your Family tomorrow Friday, January 31, 2014 Evening everyone. Sorry for the delay in posting this but I have had a rotten cold and have only just finished tomorrows layouts. Here are the colour ranges and photo sizes. Layout one – Portrait Photo measures 4” x 6” but a 5” x 7” will also do.
Layout two – Landscape photo measures 5 x 7 or bigger. Don’t worry if you only have a 4 x 6 photo as we can make it fit if necessary.
112
LADIES THAT CRAFT
Both layouts are quite bright and breezy so most photos including black and white will work. Don’t forget, if you have a Sizzix machine please bring it along for your own personal use as there is die cutting for this class and I will only have one machine tomorrow. See you there xx
Update for Creativity 101 this Saturday Thursday, February 06, 2014 Hello lovely ladies. Here are the items I will be using on Saturday which you may or may not have at home. Although I will have these in class you can bring along your own for your own personal use (especially the Sizzix or equivalent as we will use this a lot and having your own will make things quicker for you). So here goes: Cutting Mat; Cutter; Knife; Sizzix Machine or similar; Apron; 2 paint brushes (one large one small); Distress inks in Walnut Stain/Vintage Photo/Wild Honey; UHU or other strong glue (I do have some of this to sell). LADIES THAT CRAFT
113
And if you have a favourite 5” x 7” embossing folder at home that you are just dying to use, bring that along as well and you can use it on your project. And if you haven’t got any of these then just bring along yourself and your basic tools. No problem And a sneak peek. Oh well ok them
Looking forward to seeing everyone and having a great day playing. xx

Nice layout Wednesday, February 26, 2014 I know that when I teach a Scrapbook Class there are some people who like to copy and take great pleasure in completing both layouts. And I also know there are some people who just like to do their own thing and move things around a bit which is great fun. The original layout can be found HERE And here is Marias layout using a few different papers and ribbons to complete her layout. I like the way she used the cute as a bug die cut as a stencil. And the ribbon used as decoration Thanks for sharing Maria. You can see the photos of yesterdays Scrapbook Class on Facebook. Have a great evening xx

Layout with a difference Monday, March 03, 2014 Yes it was playtime on Saturday in the Scrapping Your Family class. The look on every ones faces when i told them we would be using a textured paste and modelling clay to make one of the layouts was brilliant, but we all had some fun I think. As you can see, everyone had their own ideas for the background. I did also make a 15 minute layout as well just in case anyone wanted the easy option. These layouts will be released as a kit very soon so keep checking back for details. Hugs xx

Apologies Thursday, March 06, 2014 For those of you waiting for online classes to be released and photos to go on, I apologise as my laptop is once again poorly and in the shop. I just can't do the same things on the iPad so please bear with me and normal service will be resumed ASAP . There are three kits to release plus news of a new class coming very soon. Don't miss it xx
Spring card Monday, March 10, 2014 We'll the sun is out at last so I thought something bright and cheery was in order for Wednesdays Card Class. Here are the three cards we made. Sorry if the picture is not up to the usual quality but still struggling to edit photos on the iPad and no sign as yet, of the computer. I am going to try to take some photos and update the blog with the latest layouts and kits tomorrow using the iPad. Wish me luck lol xx
At last Tuesday, March 11, 2014 one laptop returned mended and clean, (that won’t last long lol ), I feel complete once more and raring to go. So what first? Well I want to share this finished layout by Sue Ross. I took photos of it in 126

class a few weeks ago meaning to put it on here. The reason for sharing this one is that when I made this class layout I knew it needed “something” to finish it off. It’s a feeling that niggled and it was only when I saw the stamped phrase on Sues layout, that I realised what it was. and of course the special button. I know how hard is was for Sue to use it as she treasures all of her buttons. Lovely finishing touches. xx

Nice to wake up to some sunshine this morning While I’m eating my breakfast I thought I’d better let you know what photos to bring tomorrow. The First of Six Sunday, March 23, 2014 A Limited Edition Class means a great kit and loads of scrummy layouts to use as ideas, a sort of jumping off point showing everyone how the papers in the kit can be used. Sometime you can see a range of papers and fall in love with them but have no idea how to use them because they are heavily patterned or have a very bold colour way. My job is to use the Class Kit to give inspiration and hope that it helps everyone to get started and have a great day. Over the next few days I will share all of the layouts but first here is a picture of the kit each person received. Available on the day were brads, charms, gems, buttons and additional flowers and lace as required. Paper was also provided for die cuts which were cut out by each class member. Layout One – Perfect I now have kits available to make the 6 layouts. Everything including die-cuts are included however you will need to use your own stencils, stamps and ink pads. Full instructions are also included along with free membership worth £6.50, to the Ladies That Craft club. The launch date for this kit is Friday 28th March 2014. More tomorrow.

Three of Six Thursday, March 27, 2014 and nearly half way there. This time I used a few of the memory Box dies and a Memory stamp I bought 2nd hand online but fell in love with. In this kit I did include some lovely little trinkets including this bird, which i made using clay and my molds. They are so easy to make and you can colour them in using Marker Pens, paint or anything really. Check back for the next one tomorrow and the launch of the kit. xx

Four of Six Friday, March 28, 2014 nearly there. This layout was taken from an idea that i originally saw on Pinterest a few months ago. It was a great opportunity to get the heat gun and embossing powder out again I really love these papers. xx
Five of Six Layouts Saturday, March 29, 2014 Nearly there. Here is the fifth Layout from the Limited Edition Kit Class in March using Prima's Stationers Desk range. Nice and simple this one however I did find that I didn’t have enough red flowers so I coloured some of the other ones using a Promarker. And at last I am able to release the kit. The kit for the Limited Edition includes the following: Stationers Desk 12 x 12 Collection Kit (which includes 16 collection papers; 1 type and tab sticker sheet; 1 Journaling Spot Sticker sheet; 2 ATC card sheets), 1 x Kraft Core cardstock, 1 x white cardstock, bag of mixed Prima Flowers and leaves, bag of lace and LADIES THAT CRAFT
135
die cuts, bag of molded shapes including frames and birds, Paste for stencilling, Buttons and gems and full instructions to make 6 layouts. The kit is £25 plus £3.90 p & p and you can buy your Kit using the button below. SORRY NOW SOLD OUT Last of the six on here tomorrow. Enjoy the sunshine xx
The last of the six layouts Sunday, March 30, 2014 The wording on this is really difficult to photograph as it is heat embossed in gold. This is the only one of the six that I feel is still unfinished but as yet I can’t work out what needs to be added to finish it. Each panel was made separately using some of the stickers and lace in the kit. So that’s it for this class and kit however I have still got 2 layouts to share from Tuesdays Scrapbook Class. Have a great evening and Happy Mothers Day mum xxx

Scrapping with bright colours Tuesday, April 01, 2014 I just love it and I also love it when I see a layout that I just have to have a go at. Todays layout was made using an idea by Morag Cutts and I can’t remember whether it was in a magazine or on her Blog but I fell in love with it and this is my version. What sold it to me was the washi tape flip cards on the left which enabled me to add more photos and hidden journaling. Loads of sewing on this one as well. Another one tomorrow. x
Bright Colours Day Two Wednesday, April 02, 2014 Those of you who know me will know that I love making layouts with black or white space. This layout began as a 12 x 12 piece of Black Cardstock and one of the new Prima Stencils. The stencil is actually a flower but I used it to make the butterfly swirl. and yes I am addicted to die cuts The wording was also make using the Prima Stencil and a white pen Working on cards for tomorrows class this morning and was hoping to do it in the garden but where is the sunshine. x

Its getting late so………. Friday, April 04, 2014 as promised here are the details of photos I have used for the two layouts on Saturday. Layout one needs two photos of a female one measuring 2” x 2” and the other measuring 6” x 4” (mother and daughter would work well or two photos of the same person) Layout Two needs two photos of a male one measuring 2” x 2” and the other measuring 6” x 4”.(father and son would work well or two photos of the same person) Looking forward to seeing everyone tomorrow. It seems like ages. xx Ps forgot to say, all Limited Edition Kits will go out on Monday and the online class will be available from Tuesday to everyone who bought the kit and those of you who came to class x
Blue Butterflies Saturday, April 05, 2014 I have loads of butterfly dies and stamps but this set is definitely my favourite. The secret is to make sure all of the little holes are cut out. And the Clarity Stamps stencil just finishes the layout off nicely. The second layout was more of a girly one no matter how I photograph it. it doesn't do it justice. and I managed to use a few older flower punches as well. Thanks for another lovely day ladies. Class photos are now on Facebook xx.

Three Cards Friday, April 18, 2014 I love the card classes. Everyone beavers away to get their cards finished and it is great fun seeing everyone's faces as I show what they are going to make. Here are the three from Wednesdays class. The first is made using a Memory box Die The second using a Tim Holtz strip die And the third using an IO die and a Martha Stewart punch. The next card class on Wednesday May 7th will include a Wedding Card. “At last” I here you say. Have a great weekend. xx
Punched Flowers Monday, April 21, 2014 Yes I still love playing with punches. They are a great, affordable tool to have in your stash and they are always useful. Fed up with the die cutting for a while I thought I’d give some of the punches a go and these two layouts were the results. Layout One – Mum It was really hard to photograph but the flowers are shaped and filled with black gemstones Not sure if I am going to keep a big title. I am tempted to change it but time will tell. Hope everyone had a great Easter.xxx

Layout Two - Tiny Flowers Wednesday, April 23, 2014 another die and a small punch helped to make this second layout. I know what I wanted to do but I couldn’t find the right background paper so I used white cardstock, a stencil and Antique Linen Distress Ink to make my own. Love these little flowers Don’t forget to book your place on the Crop on 10th May. You can either click the link at the top of the page or e-mail me at ladiesthatcraft@live.co.uk xxx

Some works in progress Sunday, April 27, 2014 which I am finally going to finish this week. I love playing in my Art Journal but I never have the time. This week I am making time for this and to start some new pages. and my favourite I am working on a short how to, to help you start your own Art Journal the easy way, so watch this space. x
Tonights Scrapbook Class Tuesday, April 29, 2014 Just thought I’d better let you know colours for tonight which are Sunflower Yellow, Red, Green, Yellow and White Layout one is more outdoors so a 5” x 7” photo would suit. Layout two is more for children and will suit both us oldies as children and photos of modern children. If you have them you might want to bring along the following for your own personal use: Embossing tool and foam mat 5/8” circle punch Tweezers White pen

Black Soot Distress Inkpad I have all of these but in limited numbers so if you are happy to wait your turn that’s fine too. And a sneek peek……no not this time. I want to surprise you lol. Looking forward to seeing everyone again. xx
A childrens layout Wednesday, April 30, 2014 I really enjoyed making this first layout for last nights Scrapbook Class. The idea came from a card in Simply Cards and Papercraft (which has an amazing free gift this month of IndigoBlu Stamps, Scrummy). The Lego bricks took ages to make but I was pleased with the result. And the mouse was a second hand bargain from a crafty site on Facebook. I will do a step by step today for the Lego bricks so keep checking back. Layout Two tomorrow.xx
Sunflowers Thursday, May 01, 2014 Love those flowers and especially the lovely sunflowers. Makes me think of summer, hot weather and that glass of wine in the garden……………. Sorry got carried away. Anyway here is layout two from Tuesdays class. 146

Two layouts for this class one with a wedding theme and a portrait photo measuring 5” x 7” and the other a layout suitable for pets or a zoo trip or a holiday photo of animals. For this I have used a landscape 5” x 7” and six yes six photos measuring 2” x 3” The layouts have been designed so that all photos can be added later. Looking forward to seeing everyone tomorrow. xxx

Nice Day for a White Wedding Saturday, May 03, 2014 I’ve got loads and loads of wedding photos including my own, which desperately need putting in an album. This is the first of many to come this year. The beauty of this layout is that you can alter the red to a colour to suit your photo and as decent wedding paper is difficult to get hold of, this is a way of making your own. Love those birds and bows Second one tomorrow. Enjoy the sunshine xx
What’s New Pussycat Sunday, May 04, 2014 I have got three cats (soon to be four) and I love them all. Each has his or her own special personalities and they are great fun most of the time. Here is the first of three pet layouts that I have made. This is the one I made for yesterdays class. Love these Memory Box Cat dies. If you pop across to the Ladies That Craft Facebook page you can see some of the works in progress done in class including a doggy layout. Fantastic sunshine today. Back to the garden then xx

Craft Day Monday, May 05, 2014 Don’t forget I am holding a craft day (CROP) on Saturday 10th May from 10am to 4pm. The cost is £10 and includes tea, coffee, cake and a lovely make and take book. I will be doing a bit of Art Journaling as well so if you want to have a go just bring along an old hard backed book (novel or dictionary) and I will show you how to have a go and make a mess. All of the layouts and cards made this year will be there so that you can get some inspiration plus card and layout kits and a small shop. If you want to know how to do something just bring it along and I will see if I can point you in the right direction (last time I said I would “show you how to do it” but someone brought along some quilling and I was lost. I don’t do quilling loll) All you have to do is bring long your unfinished crafty projects (scrapbook pages, cards, knitting, sewing, jewellery making or anything really) and have a relaxing day chatting and seeing what everyone is up to. Just e-mail me at ladiesthatcraft@live.co.uk to book your place and you can pay on the day.
Tutorial–Lego Bricks Thursday, May 08, 2014 OK housework done so now time to catch up on all those things I have been meaning to do for the last two weeks. The first is this tutorial on making Lego Bricks for your cards and layouts (you can see mine HERE) I saw this idea in Simply Cards and Papercraft with written instructions only so I thought I’d have a go. The following tutorial is based on my experience.
LADIES THAT CRAFT

You actually need very little to make these. My bricks measures 1 1/4” x 1 1/4” and “ 1 1/2” x 1 1/4”. I used a small Xcut circle punch which does not have a size on it but I think it is the smallest one they do. Black Soot ink pad, a piece of Cut N Dry and three different bright cardstock scraps. 1mm sticky foam pads and a white gel pen (not shown in photo) To begin cut out several squares or rectangles using the measurements above. You will also need to punch out 4 circles per 1 1/4” square. Using the Cut N Dry distress the edges of all the circles and the squares/rectangles. Once you have done this your selection should look something like this Add one 1mm sticky foam pad to each circle and stick in place. When making the larger block I found I got hung up on making everything straight so the way to get around this is to lay the rectangle in front of you and then cover one end with a 1 1/4” square Now add your first four circles Move the square to cover the finished side and stick the remaining circles in place NO PEEKING. When they are all stuck down remove the square and the block will look just right. You can now make more in different colours And they look good don’t they, but there is still one more thing to do and that is to make a little back to front “C” at the top right of each circle. You now have everything you need to make that layout for the kids (or the big kids) Would love to see finished projects if you use this technique. Feel free to leave a link to 150

Feeling a bit better Wednesday, May 14, 2014 at last. Anyone who says IBS is manageable needs their head examined. It’s nasty and wipes me out everytime but at least I’m back on my feet today so I’ve managed to sort through some of the photos from the Crop and thought I’d share another of my works in progress. I get very little time to play with my Art Journal but I do try to do a little at every Crop. My cat page is coming on nicely but I also started a second page mainly because LADIES THAT CRAFT

I was dying to use Tim Holtz’ new Distress marker Spritzer which actually does work with most pens including copic and Pro Markers which is a bonus, So I decided to make the background for this page using a Clarity Stamps stencil and the Spritzer. This was the result. It works really well, the closer you get the more solid the colour, the further away, the finer the spray. Intend to add more colours but thought I’d share anyway. Have a good day. I’m off to see if I can actually eat something. Wish me luck xx.

Three Cards Tuesday, May 27, 2014 A bit slow in uploading onto the blog for the last week or so promise to do better over the coming weeks. Thursdays class was great and everyone finished their three cards so that's always good. It was only when I got home that I realised that I hadn’t taken any photos mainly because everyone kept telling me to “sit down” lol.

Here are the three cards And individually Love those birds… and a bit of stencilling to finish off. The next class in June is now sold out but if you fancy joining me for a card class there are two available in July. Texture Paste Tutorial Tuesday, May 27, 2014 I’ve become addicted to texture paste and I have loads of different ones which I use often however there is one in particular which I find myself using more than most and that is the basic light and smooth paste for stencils. I came across the recipe on Pinterest and had a go and boy does it work well. So for those of you who also love raised work on your layouts here is the step by step tutorial with photos of course. LADIES THAT CRAFT
159
You will need: 1/4 cup talcum powder 1 tablespoon PVA Glue 1 tablespoon White paint (I find a chalk paint is best) a little bit of water Take a small container, measure out and add the talcum powder and the glue and start to mix with an old spoon or skewer. Now add the white paint and continue to mix. You should now have clumps of paste. Add water a teaspoon at a time and continue to mix until the paste resembles toothpaste. Place mixture in an airtight container and use as required. To date my first batch has lasted 2 1/2 months and counting. You can add chalk paint to colour the paste but don’t make it too runny as it will seep below your stencil. To make larger amounts just double/treble ingredients. If you keep the ratio the same you will always get the same results. Enjoy playing with this one. I am. xx

Using the Texture Paste on a Layout Friday, May 30, 2014 So after making the past I had to use it in class didn’t I? Everyone got the hang of it after a while although if you’re using the paste at home remember use only a little at a time and keep your palette knife flat to the paper and you will get a good result every time. and here’s the layout using the technique I also used the paint from the texture paste to colour the flowers to keep the colours as close as possible. Really loved this technique. More tomorrow x LADIES THAT CRAFT

Butterfly Layout Sunday, June 01, 2014 A few months ago I made a butterfly card for a card class and liked it so much I decided to use it on a layout as well. A butterfly punch is something that most people have so this technique is easy to do. Here is the card that inspired the layout.

Gelatos Tuesday, June 10, 2014 Like almost every crafter I have so much “stuff”as my DH call it, that I really don’t need to try anything else. However, no don’t laugh, after sitting with Helen Chilton for an hour and watching her play with Gelato’s I was just itching to have a go. Here is Helens finished example
And here is my first attempt at a background. Its not finished yet but I am amazed at what you can do with this medium.

This would also be great as a double layout. All of the embellishments are made from cardstock so there is no limit to the amount of pages you can make including pages for a mini book. xx
Saturdays limited Edition Class Tuesday, June 17, 2014 Photos for Saturdays class: Beach/holiday photos including one A4 black and white photo preferably of children on a beach. I am using old photos of me but modern ones will do. Colour and black and white are ok. Day trip/countryside/woodlands photos. Bring a selection if you have them in both colour and black and white and in any size ie 5" x 7" or 4" x 6" or smaller sizes. They will all work. Bring your distress inks and a black ink pad for your own personal use if you want to be able to get on more quickly. I have plenty but it might be useful. Look forward to seeing you all xxx
A Bit of the Past Wednesday, June 18, 2014 Sometimes a paper doesn’t need much embellishment and this is doubly true when an old photo is used. I have found it really difficult to photograph but this is the best I can do and the detail I love the giant black gems used as the middle of the flowers. xx

Relax and Enjoy Thursday, June 26, 2014 One of the great things about the Limited Edition Classes is that because it’s a bumper kit I get to mix and match different papers. You Are My Sunshine Saturday, June 28, 2014 Using A4 photos is always fun and once more gave me the chance to do some stamping on the photo. Black and white photos always work well for this and if there is some blank areas, so much the better. So todays layout (layout three) And the detail The one occasion where my title was straight thanks to the railings in the photo. xx

I Love My Cats Monday, June 30, 2014 Sometimes fussy papers just need something simple and this layout was just that. I made it with a simple pocket so that I could store some of my many cat photos in my Scrapbook. So Layout Four is And the detail I made all of the 3d embellishments for this class using paper clay and moulds. It took a while but I really enjoyed it. xx

Well that's it for the Limited Edition Class. Don’t forget today is your last chance to order your kit. You can find the button at the top right of this page. I hope you’ve enjoyed these posts. Here are both cards And the details And the second card This is great as a quick birthday card and although I used a stamp for the flowers, any flower punch would also do .Don’t forget, if you are free tomorrow afternoon I have a stand at Rainham Girls School (see previous post for details) and it would be lovely to see you xx

Tomorrows Scrapbook Class Monday, July 28, 2014 Afternoon everyone. So what’s happened to the sun then? I hate days like these because as the temperature drops I feel the need to catch up on everything I haven’t done while it has been hot. You know Ironing, housework etc. Yuk Anyway on a happier note, if you are coming along to the Scrapbook Class tomorrow night you might want to bring your favourite set of stamps with you. (No Christmas themed stamps please). Theme – well that depends on what stamps you bring or I will bring mine along in case you want to use the same as me. Should be a good one. See you there xxx
Doggy Layouts Thursday, July 31, 2014 no I have not suddenly bought a dog and yes I am still cat lady, but I’ve been sorting through photos on my computer and come across these two versions of a class layouts. I think the first one was made by Margaret and the second and third by Trish. And for those of you getting an early start on those C…….s layouts (no still not mentioning it) here is Margaret’s Winter layout to get you started. Sorry for the poor photo quality but I believe these are from table shots at the crop. Have a great day tomorrow. xxx

Kitten Layout Saturday, August 02, 2014 is always fun and you can get some wonderful pictures if you’re patient and have a camera handy at all times. Of course, the beauty of being so small is that you can disappear when you feel like it and our kitten is really good at doing that. So here’s an introduction to our newest addition our Basil Layout: OK Where is he now And the detail A nice, simple layout to show off the photos. Thanks for looking xxx

Using Stamps on a layout Monday, August 04, 2014 I love stamping. It is something I have always done and I love trying out new techniques however my favourite is just basic stamping leaving white space. Layout two is DISCOVER
I have used these Hobby Art stamps so many times. They can be used in loads of different ways and are easy to use. The detail:

I am working on a class version which I will teach this year so if you are interested, leave a comment or e-mail me at ladiesthatcraft@live.co.uk and I will let you know more details and a date. This is not a booking but just to give me an idea of interest. Enjoy the rest of the sunshine xxx
Tips and techniques Wednesday, August 13, 2014 Well I’ve had 3 days with my grandchildren and now it’s time to get ready for the garden party on Saturday. I will keep you up to date with photos as and when I can but it’s going to be chaos here for a few days. So in the meantime I thought I’d share some recent techniques we have used both in class and from classmates who have added extras when they got home.
LADIES THAT CRAFT
189
1. Using a stencil with Distress Ink Pens and TH Air Spritzer (love this one)
2. Using Horse Shoes instead of flowers to decorate a western layout.
3. Adding lace to highlight a photo
4. Making a photo into a pocket so that hidden journaling can go on the tag.
190
LADIES THAT CRAFT
5. Using texture paste and a stencil (don’t forget you can find the texture paste recipe HERE )
6. Using silhouette die cuts to add detail to your layout
And of course there are loads more. A special thank you to Maria who allowed me to photograph her layouts. Fingers crossed for sunshine on Saturday xxx

The Ladies That Lunch Sunday, August 17, 2014 Yippee the sun shone and the food was made on time and we have just had our very first Ladies That Lunch Tea Party. Here are just a few photos of the afternoon taken by Sally. Everyone who came will get all of the days photos on disc so don’t panic if you don’t see your photo here. But before the photos I must give a very big thank you to Maria for keeping me sane and helping me set up before hand and also a big thank you to Sally who painted the backdrop for the posed photos and helped me clear away and wash up. xxxxx Now without further ado here are some of my picks of the day. Thank you ladies for making it a really special event. Already looking forward to next year. xxxx

Tonight's Scrapbook Class Tuesday, August 26, 2014 It seem ages since I last taught a class but it will be lovely to see everyone tonight. Photo wise for layout one you will need a 4 x 6 portrait photo taken outside either park, woods, Country Park something like that. For layout two think male, or city photo like London or something like that. Something with a person/people and buildings in the background would be good. Smaller photos. Any photo size will work but no bigger than 4 x 6 I have used Distress Inks in Walnut Stain and Black Soot. And the colours

Tower Of London Tuesday, August 26, 2014 Last Tuesday I went up to London to see the commemorative poppies. It was a wonderful day out I didn’t want the layout to be dominated by the Poppies, rather a memory of the entire visit to the Tower of London. This is what I came up with The shoe print was ideal considering the distance I walked that day. The Title was made using a Graffiti Font And the bricks were cut from strips of paper, distressed and then edged with a pen. Check back for the second layout tomorrow. Lovely to see everyone again xx

Almost Fairyland Wednesday, August 27, 2014 So layout two was made using a silhouette Bo Bunny Paper. Both sides of the paper are lovely but I chose to use the all blue side (some classmates used the other side for their layouts and you can see them on the Ladies That Craft Facebook page. All I needed to do was to add a little coloured detail. The wording was made using letter punches and the circles were made using a stencil and the texture paste I made (you can find out how to make your own HERE). I am currently working on a Christmas kit which will be available after my class in New Romney on 27th September.

Creativity 101 class update Friday, September 19, 2014 Hi everyone Sorry for the lack of posts but the old laptop is on the blink again and so I have limited access to photos until I get it back. Firstly one of the ladies booked for the Christmas Creativity 101 class on Sat 18th Oct can no longer come so I have one space left. If you would like to come but want to bring a friend I can probably make an additional place. Please text me or email ladiesthatcraft@live.co.uk If you want to know more about past Creativity classes just click the labels link on the right hand side of this page. Have a great weekend Julie x

Sundays Scrapping Your Family class Saturday, September 20, 2014 I know I'm really late posting but better late than never. There are two layouts to make this time. The first is a family tree page so if you have a family photo it will work well however you can add a photo later. Layout two is a bright layout made using orange, blue, yellow and white. It would be a good idea to bring any distress inks of similar colours with you tomorrow for your own personal use. The photo can be added later but would suit a bright sunny day photo of adults or children or both. Looking forward to seeing you all again Julie xx
We had a wonderful day Sunday, September 28, 2014 On Saturday I travelled to new Romney with Maria and Mum, to teach a class to a lovely group of ladies. We made the metal covered box with leather look book and felt pouch so it was a full on day. Everyone did amazingly well and there was lots of chatter and laughter. Here is a picture of the class

Christmas cards Thursday, October 09, 2014 Sorry for the delay in showing the class projects. I, along with my family are on a health rollercoaster at the moment so time for blogging is very short. Hopefully things will improve soon however classes are continuing as normal. You need friends at times like these and my class mates always make me smile. I will post 2 cards a day over the next three days. Hope you like them Card One – Santa I originally saw this topper used as a Christmas gift tag and fell in love with it. This is my card version.
Card Two I am a Hobby Art fan and really love their new Christmas robin stamps. Part of that set is a bough with holly at either end. I used the holly to make this card.

Two more cards Friday, October 10, 2014 Before I show these I want to thank everyone for their kind wishes and thoughts at this time. As a family we really appreciate everyone's emails, texts and cards. Thank you so much xxx Scrapping Your Family on Saturday is still on and will start at 10am. I still have two places left if anyone fancy's making a couple of Scrapbook Pages. I have used the following photos: Layout One – A close up 4” x 6” portrait photo of Sally and me in the summer. The colours for this layout are soft orange, green and brown. Layout Two – A 4” x 6” landscape photo in black and white of me, Karen and a friend playing in the paddling pool in the garden. The era is 1969. The colours are red, white, green and a tiny touch of blue. Now onto todays Christmas Cards Card Three – I think this is a Little Claire stamp

And Card Four – This is definitely a Hobby Art stamp. It was so easy to use.
The last of the Christmas Cards from class tomorrow then I’ll start on the Scrapbook Layouts. Have a great day xxx
The final two Christmas cards Sunday, October 12, 2014 from the last class are probably my favourites and so easy to make. Card Five is made entirely from white paper and coloured with Distress Inks with only a small piece of the blue dotty paper to add some colour.

And finally Card Six took only 10 minutes to make and is one of those cards you could make in bulk for family and friends.

Creativity 101 tomorrow Friday, October 17, 2014 Evening ladies If you are coming to class tomorrow please remember that we are starting promptly at 9am to make sure we finish in time. The project you are making is completely new and very pretty, (pictures will be posted after the class), and this will be sold as both a kit and for those of you not crafty, a ready made project after the class online. For those of you coming to class if you would like to bring any of the following for your own personal use it will speed up the class. For those of you who do not have any of these items please do not panic as I have some to use in class. Sizzix machine or equivalent Dotty embossing folder. Hot Glue Gun PVA Glue not a big list but helpful if you have them. Looking forward to seeing everyone and having a fun packed morning. xxx
Christmas Creativity 101 Saturday, October 18, 2014 Well we had a great class today, everyone really busy as we tried to complete our projects. Here is the class example: I included some little deer details and made a second example in reds and greens which was sold as a separate kit Here is a picture of todays class mates (look at the mess on the table) 206

What a picture Wednesday, October 22, 2014 Thought it was about time I posted some of the Scrapbook layouts from class. It’s quite surprising how much preparation it takes to make all of the elements that go to make just one layout.
Those flowers took ages
208
LADIES THAT CRAFT
But I think it was the most popular of the two. The second of the layouts was designed around a really old photo of me, my sister and my cousin. For some reason I could only find it in black and white although I remember the original being in colour.
The trees were from a free set of stamps on a Creative Stamping magazine.
We decided in class that they could also be used as snowman bodies. Might give that a go later. LADIES THAT CRAFT

Photography Friday, October 24, 2014 is one of my favourite pastimes and when things get too much you can normally find me snapping a way with my beloved camera. Life at the minute is a bit stressful but today I have a whole day to myself for the first time in three weeks so this morning out came the camera and I ventured into the garden in my pj’s and started snapping. Here are the results. I hope you like them.

Christmas Cards Monday, October 27, 2014 Every year I make one Christmas card that i fall in love with. It’s normally simple and easily duplicated and this time it involves a stencil and a few pearls.

The photo really doesn't do it justice but I will definitely be making loads more to send out to friends and family.
I was pleasantly surprised at how well the Tim Holtz word dies turned out. They cut beautifully especially in silver card and look beautiful. Hope you like it. xx
A lovely class Thursday, October 30, 2014 with everything that is going at the moment it is nice to escape to a class of lovely ladies who make me smile and keep my spirits up. Tuesdays class was a great evening and everyone made two layouts ( or chatted to friends and cut out everything to make the layouts------you know who you are lol) The first was made using Halloween papers however I appreciate that not everyone likes Halloween so I turned this into an October layout.
I liked this idea so much that I will now do a monthly page for the next 11 months as a sort of photo diary so watch out for November coming soon.

The detail was again made using paper punches.
and the little glasses charm just finished it off nicely. Hope everyone has a great day today. Make sure you keep your family close and tell them you love them. It’s so important. Hugs xxx

Tomorrows Scrapbook Class Friday, October 31, 2014 I know it’s far to late to let you know photos sizes now but time has just run away with me today. For Saturdays class I have used the following: Layout one: a photo of me with a horse taken last autumn. Size 5” x 7” portrait Layout two: a photo of me and hubby taken in Venice. Size 5” x 7” portrait. This layout is suitable for any photo indoors or out and it doesn’t have to be a holiday photo. Looking forward to seeing everyone tomorrow. Class starts at 10am xx
Autumn Layout Wednesday, November 05, 2014 I love the gold's, oranges and rust of the autumn leaves as they fall from the trees and make a carpet on the ground, so it was great fun to make an autumn layout using those lovely colours. Here is the first layout from class on Saturday.
I am really loving the gold Glamour Dust. It brought the leaves to life.

A Circle of Buttons Friday, November 07, 2014 Once I got into the circles theme I thought a second circle layout would be good, so rather than the bright colours of Autumn I decided to use the beautiful Blue cardstock which jumped out at me from my paper stash. Layout Two
The blanket stitch around the circle was challenging mainly because I completely forgot how to start it off in class and had to sit in a chair quietly for a few minutes to get my mind around it. Got it in the end though
And another thing that totally escaped me was that I used a circle of button especially for Sue who I completely forgot, was not coming to class (hope you’re well soon xx)

Christmas Mini Book Saturday, November 08, 2014 Every year I make a Mini Book to showcase all of my Christmas photos. This year I decided to concentrate on reds and greens as I appreciate some of you don’t “love” Christmas like I do, and it made it easy to change the book from Christmas to Autumn/ Winter if you wanted to. I mixed stamping with die cutting and trying to keep it as simple as possible. Here is the book taught last Wednesday.
218
LADIES THAT CRAFT
I made sure that all of the pages and pockets were cut out and scored to make easier to put the book together. I also kept some of the pages very simple to allow the class to add their own embellishments and ideas. Here are a few of the pages and tags.

Sweet Girl FREE Tutorial. Monday, November 17, 2014 This is one of the many online classes available at Ladies That Craft. You can make it with your own stash by following the instructions below. Have fun ……
LADIES THAT CRAFT
223
Use the 12 x 12" Black Paper from the Timeless Armour Paper Pad as your base. From the 2nd piece of Black paper cut out two Octagons using an octagon Die along with 6 of the smaller octagons.
Place the centre of the octagons where you want them to appear on your page and lightly draw around them with a pencil.
224
LADIES THAT CRAFT
Remove the shapes and using the pencil marks as a guide stamp the flowers randomly in the top right and bottom left of the black cardstock only. To do this it is best to use a dry White Stazon inkpad.
Once this is done use a white gel pen to make tiny circles for the centre of the biggest flowers and any other detail you wish to.
Cut out your photos as shown in the pictures below.
LADIES THAT CRAFT
225
Stick your photos in place (I used the octagon shape as a template to cut out my photos.
Add the octagon border but attach it using sticky foam pads or silicone glue.
226
LADIES THAT CRAFT
Stamp 3 sizes of flower onto the white card using a juicy black ink pad such as memento or Rangers Archival ink (the darker the ink the better the effect).
Colour the flowers in using a light blue promarker or copic pen and cut all of the flowers out using the matching dies. Ink around the edges of the flowers using a Black Soot Distress Ink Pad to hide any white edges.
LADIES THAT CRAFT
227
Place your flowers on the layout using the main picture as a guide. Once you are happy with the effect, stick them in place by their middles only.
Use the dry white Stazon to ink the edges of the 6 smaller octagons and place as shown in the photo.
Use the white pen to make a fine line around the edges of the layout leaving the occasional gap and adding one or two dots or dashes.
228
LADIES THAT CRAFT
Now add your title. (I have used a small flower as the dot on Girl)
To complete the layout use glossy accents on the centre of every flower. I hope you enjoyed this layout. Love those reindeer Tuesday, December 02, 2014 I have managed to get hold of some beautiful papers this year for the Scrapbook Classes. They include a lovely reindeer paper which I have been itching to use. Reindeer are especially good for men pages and as I am currently making an album of my dad it was the right choice.
I could have used it as the background but I decided it would look much better as the embellishments for the page.

I cut some extra out and decoupage them onto the page. A bit of glitter and voila.
And love this holly punch from Woodware too.
