A new Quickutz Card from Julie Blakeman and a stunner it is too. For this card Julie used the new Sea Shore Papers from Creative Imaginations. I will add the list of Quickutz Dies used as soon as I get to the shop tomorrow. So for your delight here is a great card meant especially for Dad.

A really talented bunch................ came to class today and we all had a great time playing with Crackle Paint, Distress Ink Pads, loads and loads of stamps and a Maya Road Box with Mini Book. Here are a few pictures of our achievements. Look at the amazing colours you can get from the Distress Ink Pads which were used to cover the boxes.

The plaques on the front of the boxes were first coated with Crackle Paint and allowed to dry. It was then stamped with a chosen image and embossed using UTEE.

And this is just the box. We also made our own paper to cover the mini books inside which I will show you later this week. I hope you all had a good time. You might also like: I've been playing Sundays Inspiration. And The Winner ……

Julie Corfield does it again this time with the new Maya Road Arrows and K & Co's Rough and Tumble Papers. So sit back while I sort out the photos and enjoy this very clever little book.

Julie decided to make this an BC book fr her son. Because there where not enough pages to put each of the 26 letters on, Julie has added additional pages as well as attaching 2 squares on chains each with a letter and example on.

The photos do not do this project justice however you can see the original in the shop and more pictures in Julies Gallery. You might also like: Buttons at last What a busy day....... Borders

So many things going on and the hours in a day seem to go by so quickly. Fun trip today for karen and Me. Our first outing together since CHA and we had a great laugh getting lost (only because we were talking) and then getting to our destination to pick up our new paper units and show stands. Trying to get everything in the van was interesting and the pouring rain didn't help and it wasn't until we were nearly back to the shop that we began to wonder whether the rotating unit we had bought, would actually fit through the front door. Luckily we had no problems getting everything in, which was a bonus, and then joy of joys, the missing Fedex box turned up. Not all of it was there and some of it unusable but we managed to salvage a few more bits for Karens Heidi Grace Class which now is definately one not to be missed. I have left both cameras with Karen today so having trouble finding a photo to go here. I will have a good search through the thousands of photos I have taken and see if I can come up with an interesting project or two. Check back later to see if I have been successful. You never know, it might be you. Well it's actually 2 days later and I've been going back through photos I have taken. Now I may have uploads one photo of Morags Lipstick Box a few weeks ago but having seen it

again, it certainly deserves another look and in more detail. So here are some pictures of this beautiful little keepsake.

More photos

Well I've put the details of the next crop and classes together and am just waiting to push the button at 12 so while I'm waiting here are some more of the photos from yesterday. There were loads of projects going on all around the hall. You are such a bunch of talented people. Firstly here are a few of the layouts form those who took Jane Deans Push Me Pull You class.

And here are some of the other projects we captured on the day.

And then there were the cards

Fantastic Crop. Well done everyone. SATURDAY, APRIL 26, 2008

Oh my feet hurt sooooooo much You know, I thought that with Jane doing the adult class at the crop this time, Kerry teaching the kids and Jeannie on the till, I would have loads of time to wander round and spend some time with everyone. WRONG!!!!! I spent my time in the kitchen making rolls, cutting cake

and washing up endless cups. When we all used to get together as a family before we started Scrapbook Sisters, we used to talk about how much fun it would be to start up a little cafe somewhere near the sea. Mum would make her homemade apple pie and me & Karen would cook and wait on tables. Well NEVER!!!!!!NEVER!!!!!! will that ever come true because I couldn't bear the pain in my feet every evening and besides Scrapbooking is sooooooo much more fun. I hope you all had as good a day today as we did. Here are a few photos as a reminder:

A How To Layout by Pam Thorburn From time to time the Design Team put full instructions on how to make the layouts they produce. Today we are showcasing this layout by Pam Thorburn. Family

This is how it was made: 1. Ink the edges of the paper. 2. Cut green paper to around 10" x 8", ink the edges and adhere to red papers slightly off centre. 3. Cut photo mat from black cardstock slightly bigger then the photo. Stamp lace with versamark ink pad and emboss with gold embossing powder of ink real lace with versamark and emboss with gold embossing powder. 4. Stick photo to black mat and then onto layout. 5. Stamp and emboss 2 butterflies, cut out and set aside. 6. Make flower: - Cut two flower shapes from patterened paper, one slightly larger than the other. To age the flowers first crumple them, then spray with walnut ink. (You could also use a tea bag or coffee mixture). Dry without flattening too much. Spray with Glimmer Mist, allow to dry and then ink the edges. Layer together. Use organza ribbon, fold into a bow shape and stick to the flower. Stick button to the centre to complete. 7. Use walnut ink to colour lace (or tea /coffee) and when dry stick to the layout. Then place and stick flower as shown on the layout.

8. Stick pearls using a thin bead of Glossy Accents. 9. Stick butterflies. 10. Spray luggage tag with Glimmer Mist. When dry ink the edges and add your own journalling. Embellish with ribbon, a metal clip and lace. 11. Add chipboard Title. A big thank you to Pam and we hope you all have a go at this beautiful layout. We've had a great day and a very busy one too. This morning we had the Stamping 2 Class and had a go at embossing on vellum, stamping on acetate and masking. There was embossing powder everywhere but everyone had a good time and the 2 hours flew by. Just time for a quick sandwich and a cuppa before everyone arrived for the afternoon Family History Class. This time we were looking at jounalling and discussed where to find useful info to help you trace your family tree. Oh and we made a few layouts while we were at it, with the beautiful new Cream and Black Narrative Range by Creative Imaginations. More classes are being put on the website next week along with some more new products although we have loads of new goodies put by for the CROP on 26th April. Tomorrow I need to get my printer working so that I can finish off my latest Family History Layouts. Fingers crossed. You might also like: Card Challenge Number Six.. An Oriental Theme............... The DT Kits given to both Sally West and Sue Cook were Oriental A4 Papers, Vellums, A biscuit tin, Skeleton Leaves and an Ikea Wooden Magazine File. Yesterday you saw Sue's Biscuit Tin, today we are showcasing Sallys work. Firstly Sally removed the side of the Magazine File and made this

Then Sally used the remaining part of the Magazine File to make this

And finally she still had time to make this from the biscuit tin

Both Sues work yesterday and Sallys today are really fun projects. Altered Art is an excuse to express yourself in ways that you maybe can't with other crafts. A lovely day....... I had a lovely day today. It seems a long time since I spent a day in the shop on my own. It was lovely to see so many of you and thankyou to those that brought their layouts in.Here are a couple I just had to share.

This is by Bev Bryant. I have to just point out that her photos were from Blackgang Chine like mine .It must be one of the places to visit in the Isle of Wight... Although I obviously visited it with the children I dont remember much about it. Its a shame I didnt scrap when the children were young I think I have lost alot of my memories already.

I woke saturday morning with a swollen painful eye which has gradually got worse .So I expected to be admitted and surgery within the hour only to find that I have a simple bloodshot eye. I had a quick rummage in my photo box for some pictures of the kids and then off I went and I've been scrapping all day. I've even had a go with the Graphic45 papers these really are beautiful. We thought it was a good idea to showcase Jeannies Transparency book as we are expecting a shipment in soon. Did you like the story of Hansel & Gretel well someone at Cosmo Cricket obviously did because they names a range of papers after Gretel and these were the papers we chose for some of our classes. At first sight they appear dull but with a bit of inspiration they can make some fantastic layouts. Here are just a few of the very impressive layouts that have started coming in from our talented ladies.

If you look carefully at the letters going over the circle arrow you will see that each letter has been cut out and painstakingly put back onto the layout after the Arrow was added.

Here the red heart has been made darker and more distinguishing by adding glossy accents and a very thin line of gold peeloffs has been used to highlight the middle stripe. The paper on the right hand side has had glossy accents put on all of the leaves.

If you look carefully, just above the "Sshhh" you will see a button. This acts as a fastener which when opened reveals a 2nd picture underneath.

The interest in this layout is in the fantastic detail. Look for the tiny accent beads in the centre of the glossy accented flowers and of course the 2 little monkeys in the frame at the top left of the page.

In this layout the faux stitching around the right hand side of the page imitates tyre tracks and the different size letter add to the feeling of the rough terain in the picture.

In this last layout the zig zag stitching and the writing straight onto the background colour makes you want to study the layout more closely just in case you've missed something. I think you'll agree that these are all great layouts and the scans do not do them justice (I have the originals and I can say they are all superb). Well done ladies. TUESDAY, MARCH 18, 2008

A fantastic day and a very busy one. We held our first Kids Class this morning and I think I can say that everyone enjoyed themselves in cluding Karen and Sue who were there to teach(have fun more like) and generally make loads of mess. Needless to say that we will be holding a Kids class every month from now on. The Kits went on sale at midday and we are now down to single figures. A fantastic result for our very first kit. Don't forget, if you make layouts other than those in the instructions please e-mail them to us so that we can show them off on the Blog. This afternoon I taught the Stamping class using some new Magenta Stamps. Everyone wanted "Stamping Two" so they must have enjoyed it. I enjoyed your company ladies. More goodies going on the website tomorrow so keep a look out and as soon as I take photos of the stamping examples I'll post them . Thank you to everyone who made today special. With all the excitement about the launch of the kits now showing on the website I thought we'd take a step back, specifically to Mothers Day, and take a look at this lovely, detailed book made by marion Bushrod. Marion was chosen to join our design team specifically because we fell in love with her attention to detail. Everything is perfectly finished and no piece is to small to spend time on. So for your pleaseure here is a sample from the book.

Even though MothersDay has gone, you have an entire year to make one for next Mothers Day or even for your Mums birthday. And we just want to take the time to say a very Happy 16th Birthday to Jack.

Hope this doesn't embarrass you too much but after 16 years of having your photos taken and the last 3 years having your photos put on our layouts and posted on the website and put up in the shop, we didn't think you'd mind. Happy Birthday xxx You might also like: Phew ‌‌.its been such a busy day. All Ten And they just keep on coming......

Our exclusive kits go on sale Saturday Yes I know it's taken a while but we wanted to get it right. When we decided to launch these kits we had long discussions about whether we should do them monthly, should we make them subscription...............you get the drift. Well after much deliberation we decided that we would offer limited edition kits, tried, tested and designed by 2 members of our Design Team members. The kits will not be launched every month but as and when we are satified that they are good enough to go on sale. They will be on a first come first served basis, limited edition and they will never be re-issued as a kit. So without much further ado here is a sneak peek.

With each kit you will get a booklet with colour photos, showing you special techniques used

plus how to make some the projects. We take special care with these kits to ensure you get beautiful projects everytime. You might also like: Black and White Day‌.. Just got up You've asked to see

It's been a funny sort of day. We've had a continual stream of deliveries into the shop all day. It's been ages since we ordered them and opening each box was a nice surprise. Over the next few weeks you will see loads of new goodies to tempt you plus Aprils classes are gradually going on sale so keep watching the website. For tonights inspiration I thought we'd take a look at Marion Bushrods first DT projects.

These are good examples of how your scrapbooing stash can make some beautiful items to decorate your home or used to make gifts for family and friends. The three black and white containers are just ordinary household items covered with paper and embelished with ribbon. These ones were specifically made with mum in mind and made a great gift.

Ever thought of taking one of our classes but don't know what to expect. We I thought you might like to see some of the photos taken at the recent Saturday Scrapbooking class. As with all of our classes, you do not need to be an expert and we do run classes during the daytimes as well. You alway receive a kit so all you need to bring along are some photos and your basic tools (infact you can bring anything you like as long as you can get it in the classroom). Tea and Coffee is provided so you won't get thirsty, and you have a friendly teacher guiding you through the class with as much or as little support as you need.

We've had some really positive feedback about the classes and the amount you get in your kits. So if you've always wanted to try Scrapbooking why not book a class and if you're a seasoned Scrapper, come along and make some new friends. Hope to see you soon. We also had some of the Uk deliveries as well so restocks are also going on at the same time. Can't believe how busy we are..... There is so much to do and so little time to do it in. Goodies have started arriving and we have just been notified that our first shipmant has left the USA so fingers crossed it should be with us early next week. So for tonight we will concentrate on inspiration from one of our new Design Team Members, Jeni Boyns. This first layout was one of Jens entries to the DT Competition. The second and third are from papers given to Jeni in her first DT kit.

You will be able to see loads more of Jens work in her gallery over the coming months. Some of you have asked about Morag and Julies work. Just to let you know while we have been taking on additional members of the Design Team, they have been very busy behind the scenes designing and producing fantastic projects for Scrapbook Sisters first exclusive kits going on sale next week. We will do a sneak peek the day before the kits go on sale. I have also got loads of their work to go on their galleries so again watch the front page of the website for updates. Gayle Bond has designed her first card kit which we will be launching in April as well as

working on her first set of stamps designed exclusively for Scrapbook Sisters. Watch this space. (where do they all find the time to do such great work - We are so lucky). You might also like: Another Christmas over A great day……. And the winner is…..

Phew...... We've worked hard all day today to get the class calendars printed and posted ready for the new march Classes. There were far to many classes that we wanted to do in March so we have saved some for April. Unfortunately the 2nd Family History Class has had to be one of the casualties because the papers will not be here in time but we promise that Julie will do the class in April. Those of you who have signed up for the Class Calendars and descriptions should have received them by Thursday morning latest. The classes will be on sale from 7pm on Thursday night. So what inspiration can we give you today? Well Julie has loads and loads of DT designs to scan so here are just a few. These ones are from Pam Thorburn and are the 2nd part of her entry for the DT. One was very hard scan because of the 3d elements on the page. So here goes. Ready and Waiting.

In this layout Pam has emphasised journalling and has used patterened paper to make her own embellishments. Being 14

A layered dimentional design with a bit of an edge which gives the viewer a look into the trial and tribulations of a 14 year old growing up. Lovely layouts Pam. You might also like: NO clear diningroom table yet Gayles been playing again The last fortnightly class of 2008

Working with Stampbord... A month ago I taught a class showing how to use Stampbord with a scratch tool. Gayles In The Shadows Class finished yesterday. We all had a great time and even Karen and myself managed to learn a thing or two. How often do you buy stamps from a shop because they look nice and then when you get

them home you have no idea what to do with them? Well Gayle took this class with the intention of teaching us how to water colour using different mediums and I think she succeeded because all of us improved as the evening went on and I'm sure, like me, everyone will be practising at home. Click on New York and Paris to find the stamps on the website. Gayle used Adirondack Felt Dye Ink Pads, Water Colour Pencils and Marvy Pens to colour the images. Here are the examples Gayle used. Unfortunately I can't photograph them tonight as we are all at the Scrap Attack, but I will try and do some close ups soon.

Another example Gayle used was the Legs stamp which is now out of stock.

All Mine.................. The week before we went away we held our February Crop. The class this time was "All Mine" made using the scrummy Two Scoops papers by Basic grey. Karen decided to make a book on her teenage daughter (my niece Kerry)and I thought this was a fantastic way to keep a record to pass on. In this case karen will keep the book until Kerry has teenagers of her own so that she can look back and see what she got up to. Here are a selection of photos showing parts of karens book. You will be able to see the complete project on the gallery soon.

Have you ever wondered what your mother would have put in a book about your teenage years. I know I was a horrible teenager so perhaps it's for the best. Still, wouldn't it be fun to know. MONDAY, FEBRUARY 18, 2008

Mindblowing inspiration Now you all know how much I admire Tim Holtzs' work and I'm sure there are a lot of people out there that "don't get it". Karen was one of them until we took part in Tims class at CHA. He made creating very easy and was quick to point out that there are no constraints, no rules and that the best creations are spontanious. For those of you who still don't get it here are a few examples from the Ranger stand at CHA.

Tim Holtz also challenged a group of very talented artists to help him make the display. Each of them received a colour to work with from the Ranger range and here are some of the results. Hats off to all the artists. Each canvas was inspiring.

So for all you budding artists, have a go at using Crackle Paint, Alcohol Inks, Distress Ink Pads and Paint Dabbers. You don't need to think about it and you get some great results. Don't forget, if you want to play but need a bit of support watch out for the classes using these products, coming soon. We found Boo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Enough with the scrapbooking, now we need loads of photos to scrap when we get home and what better place to get them than Disney. We got up late this morning (it was nice to have a lie in). First stop Millies to see if Julies camera had turned up unfortunately for her it was not Millies that we visited yesterday but Mimis. We only noticed this after Julie had been in and asked if they had found the camera. So next stop Mimis to see if the camera had been found. It was worth a shot but no luck so.............. Next stop Disney. There's nothing like a fairytale to cheer you up and we had a fantastic day. Here are a few photos:

and then of course Julie found Boo. She has been searching ever since the first film came out and finding Boo made up for loosing the camera.

And of course there were the cakes. Yummy

And the out of this world window displays.

You know, even at our age Disney is still just a magical. Well we fly home tomorrow so we won't have time to post again until we get back to the UK. A day to ourselves yes no CHA today so we had a lay in and then set off to find our first scrapbook shop and somewhere to have breakfast. The first shop on our list was The Scrapbook Depot. The journey was great but we never found it despite directions on the internet. Karen even asked at a Fedex station but noone recognised the name of the road so after an hours drive we gave up and moved onto the next one. Shop number two was a fantastic shop that we visited last year called Table Scrapz. It took us a while to find it but that may have been because it had been bought out and had changed it's name. Still we found some great products.

Unfortunately the stock levels were extremely low so there wasn't much to buy but we did our best. Thanks to the lady in the shop who was very helpful and gave us directions to Tall Mouse and Starbucks. We had a wander round Tall Mouse but didn't buy anything as we were starving hungry and needed refreshment. Luckily for us there was a Kentucky close by so we stopped for something to eat. Yummy. Tummys full we decided to go and have a look around our third Scrapbook Shop The Red Bee before coming back to the Tall Mouse to finish up. Good job we did because the Red Bee was the bees knees and there was loads and loads of scrummy stash. After filling the boot of the car we headed back to the hotel but we did make a slight detour to Millies which we thought was a cookie house but had a pleasant surprise. Very full up we are now back at the hotel scrapping and watching the telly. And why you ask, are there not photos of the other shops and the visit to Millies? Well that is because Julies

camera has gone missing!!! and these were taken by karen. Not a perfect end to the day but it's only a camera. Wouldn't it be nice if someone handed it in. No chance but we can't help wishing. You might also like: My feet hurt…….. On The Second Day Of Christmas Some finished work

Well what happened to us??????????????? Just our luck. The hotel lost internet connection for 2 days so heres a catch up and lots of photos to let you know what we have been up to. On Tuesday at 7am (yes really early) we took the Maya Road Class at CHA. We had a great time and this was definately a class for everyone.

And now because we missed a few days here are a catch up set of photos so you can see only a small fraction of what was available.

Yesterday we also entured out to Scrappin in the Hills in Anaheim Hills. Needless to say we got lost mainly due to the major road works. Karen spent a happy 15 minutes in Crafty Cakes asking for directions. The kind lady printed off step by step directions (this time the correct ones) and anyway we were only 10 miles out. As usual the journey was worth it as Scrappin in the Hills had a good selection of stash. We met Suzie Q in there getting ready to teach a Lasting Impressions Cl;ass. Suzie is English but has lived in the USA for 2 years and teaches in the area. Hopefully next time she is in England she will come to Scrapbook Sisters and teach a class. It was quite late when we finally came home so a quick stop off at Dennys for dinner and then back to the hotel for some TV before bed. Today (Wednesday) was the last day of the show and our busiest. We rushed from stand to

stand placing our orders for the shop/classes and our exciting new kits. (don't worry Terry we stayed within budget). We did find some very exciting brand new designers on this trip and have bought in ranges not yet seen in the UK. We were over the moon to find exactly what we were looking for and right at the end of our buying trip which was fantastic. Here are a few photos taken today.

The show closed at 2pm today but we left at 1pm and jumped in the car straight to Michaels where we spent a leisurely 2 hours strolling through the store getting ideas and a few bit. We changed room tonight as when we left this morning the men had drained the pool and were polishing and cleaning!!!!!!

When we came back to the hotel this is what we found and the noise of the drills was horrible.

Our new room has a wonderful view. Good job we didn't bring our swimming costumes. I think we will be visiting the travel agents when we get home. We are having a Scrapping night this evening. Our own scrap attack with all of the give aways we have received during the 4 days of the show. It's going to be a late one but I think we deserve it. Off to San Diego for the day tomorrow so will take loads of photos. We are going to try and find Stamp Attack and about 7 other scrap and stamp shops. Heaven!!! Love to all of our family and friends. XXXX ps. Bev we have your answer re the Design Studio disc. See we didn't forget. MONDAY, FEBRUARY 11, 2008

Do Not Disturb Early start this morning, 4am to be exact. We were both wide awake and so decided to have our Rice Crispies and then snooze until 9am (yes we were late to CHA on the first day). Spent the whole day cruising the aisles to find new and exciting products for you. Here is a selection of some of the goodies we have seen.

Then of course we bumped into a few people. This is Michelle from L'il Davis

And this is Julies new best friend Mr Cricut who says a big hello to Bev.

This evening we went to Downtown Disney for a wander. It was really crowded but we took a few interesting shots. Can you see Karen in the first photo?

I love playing around with the camera at night. You can get some really weird shots. We took over 600 photos between us today, far to many to post, but you'll be pleased to know, we have some great ideas for classes and loads and loads of inspiration to pass on. A special man to meet...................... As promised here are the photos of our upgraded car. We have both fallen in love with it but alas it will not fit into that second suitcase.

Take special notice of the extremely blue sky in the background. It is hot, hot, hot and we've had to go out shopping!!!!! for summer clothes. (Oh the hardship). Our day started with an early text from Michael. Thanks darling you woke us at 4am as we were using Karens mobile as an alarm clock. We ventured into the hotel restaurant for our breakfast of frosties and fresh fruit. Lovely!! Then a brisk walk to CHA.

For our first class which started at 8am with Jodi Stacey from Daisy D.

Can't show you what we made but it will be a class very soon. We then jumped in the car in search of the elusive Michaels. Unfortunately we travelled many miles in the wrong direction only to stop at a diner to ask the way. The kind lady gave us the directions and we felt that we had to buy something.

These must be the best milkshakes EVER but we must just say that the directions the lady gave us took us in totally the wrong direction, so we stopped at the huge Walmart store to buy teabags and lucky for us they had a scrapbook section. We both felt relieved that we had got our hands on some goodies so with a little smile on our faces we set off home only to see Michaels a block down the road. Of course we had to stop but were limited on time as we had a special man to meet.

Two hours of the most amazing crafting both of us had ever done. The results were fantastic as you can see for yourselves.

We will teach this class soon so watch out for it. It is definately not to be missed and great

fun. We'll leave you tonight with a picture of our hotel. We're off to dinner now and send our love to all our family and friends.

Move over a bit...... Yes we have arrived with a few hiccups along the way. Arrived at heathrow Airport far too early but used Virgins wonderful check-in machines and managed to get seats together. Fantastic!!. After a full English breakfast and a little duty free shopping , we were called to our gate only to find that over half of the plane was full of school children on a school trip. Against all odds they were brilliant and we didn't even know they were there. Karen took a load of photos with her new mini camera and pretty good they are too. See what you think.

After landing at LAX we had the usual queues for entering the USA and searching for our bags which, surprising enough, were not the last ones this time. We were also sniffed by a beautiful little dog looking for fruit and vegetables. Enough said. We then went to the Avis car rental desk to pick up our car only to find that due to the wrong ticket being issued only Julie will be able to drive this trip. Still never mind. We did get an upgraded car. (Pics tomorrow.) All the way to the hotel karen kept saying "move over a bit". Must admit it did look as if she was in the car next to us on occasions but I'll get the hang of it tomorrow. Bumped into Stephanie from Create and Craft at the hotel. No doubt we'll bump into a few other people over the next few days. Finally jumped back inot the car and drove to Dennys for a great beefburger dinner and an enormous cup of tea. You can't beat it after a 11 hour flight. Well we are both absolutely shattered and off to bed. Love to all of our families and friends. You might also like: What a busy day‌‌.. He doesn't want me to go.... and boy is he playing up tonight. If you have cats than you know that they are a lot cleverer than they seem and as soon as Sonic (my cat) saw the suitcase come downstairs and the contents of my bag on the floor he put two and two together. Initially he gave me a loud telling off and then when that fell on deaf ears he started a bag sit in (or rather sit on). He would not move.

I won in the end by opening a can of food but it just goes to show how perceptive cars are. We're up at 5 tomorrow and on our way to LA so we will do the Blog when we get to the hotel. Then there were more

So many more beautiful layouts I will be putting them on the site for days. Todays layout is from Janice Newson. A beautiful , simple design but oh so effective.

Look at the doodled detail around the flowers, the letters and around the outside of the page. They make all the difference. Also using the black and white photo and the colour contrasts work very well. I'll take a better main layout photo for the gallery when the light is right. Not long now until we fly out and still so much to do. Unfortunately the Kits we wanted to release on the day we leave have been held up as the chipboard hasn't arrived but we are going to release them on our return. Only 3 more days to go................... But I can't think of that right now with so many fantastic projects still waiting to be shown. Let's look at the Altered Art Entries which were successful in the first round and produced our Altered Art DT. Firstly Sally West. We were really impressed with Sallys Altered Book and loved the detail right down to the wire fairies. Remember it is really difficult to photograph this form of art and even though I have tried hard to capture the detail, none of the photos really do the Altered Art projects justice.

Design Team Entries 2008 Well we've had a fantastic day at the Crop today. Thank you to everyone who came and also to those of you who helped up pack up at the end. I will put some of the photos on the blog in the next couple of days but first we thought you might like to see a few of the winning entries sent in by our Design Team 2008. It was extremely hard getting the initial entries down to the final few. Everyone submitted really lovely work and we were amazed at the amount of talented people out there. However after much deliberation (and arguing) our choices were made and over the coming days you will get to see all of the first round entries from our successful candidates. Winner of the Scrapbook Competition was Pam Thorburn. This was her initial entry.

You can see the detail and the beautiful bold colours that made this a winner.

Winner of our Card competition was Anna Moore with these two initial entries taking her to

the second round.

Both ladies sent in loads more examples of their fantastic work for the second round which I will put on later in the week.

Tomorrow we will show the entries of the 2 second places in these categories who have also been asked to join our Design Team. I will show the entries for the Altered Art Category last as I am still photographing. You might also like: Two New Digi Stamps from Gayle Card Challenge 83 Card Challenge Number Ten‌.

I've been tagged! Morag Cutts tagged me! She's on our Design Team 2008. So here goes. It's a tag with a difference DO YOU WANT TO KNOW MY MIDDLE NAME? Here are the rules: 1. You have to post the rules before you give your answers. 2. You must list one fact about yourself beginning with each letter of your middle name. (If you don't have a middle name, use your maiden name). 3. After you are tagged, you need to update your blog with your middle name and your answers. 4. At the end of your blog post, you need to tag one person for each letter of your middle name. (Be sure to leave them a comment telling them they've been tagged and that they need to read your blog for details.) Well I haven't got a middle name so I'll use my maiden name which is nice and short. G - Gallery I have a secret online gallery which no-one has found yet. R - Raid the fridge every chance I get. A - Altered Art is a passion of mine.

Y - Young at heart. I will always be 18 although my body doesn't agree. So I've got to tag 4 people with blogs. Jeni Boyns, Jane Dean, Carly Worrell and Julie Corfield (ok cheating because she has also been tagged by Morag but I honestly don't know anyone else) You might also like: Fancy Pants a hit Card Challenge No 53 Borders

Altering 12 x 12 paper How many of us have bought papers in the past and never used them? Alternatively how many of us have gone into shops and seen beautiful papers that we won't buy because again, we cannot see them as pages. Well this happened to us in 2007. When choosing the Christmas papers I fell in love with these two papers by Adornit and ordered them (as you do).

I wanted to use them for a class but everytime I looked at them I drew a blank. After Christmas, the traditional time at Scrapbook Sisters, for making the class Christmas layout, I sat down with them again and decided to ALTER them.

The first, the Christmas Tree, I did as an example with no photo. I changed the writing from multi coloured to gold using a quickie glue pen and fine gold glitter. I then removed 2 parts of the christmas tree and replaced them with gold Miri Card. The baubles were cut using a circle punch and silver glamour card.

The second one, I thought, needed something added so I cut several different sized diamonds out of white Bazzill cardstock and then stamped and embossed them using one of Tim Holtz stamps, versamark ink and ultrafine gold embossing powder. The multi coloured writing was again changed to gold using a quickie glue pen and gold ultrafine glitter. The baubles I cut out of scrap paper and glittered up. They were then attached to the page using 3mm sticky pads. The letters were plain chipboard painted with Rangers gold paint dabber and then edged with gold foil.

Hope you like them. You might also like: And the winner is‌.. Giveaway Winner Announced Those Gorjuss Girls

Love those papers....... It's about time we had a good range of male orientated papers and I think that Dovecrafts have come up with just the thing and at a very reasonable price.

It's the first time I have been able to make a series of designs for all the photos I have of my husband, son and nephews. These papers are great for all sorts of things. There's fishing and cricket

No 1 Dad and Football

The business man (oh yes and more fishing) My family love that.

For any boy/man and more cricket

Plus Rugby (which I didn't use but will do soon) and more than enough papers to make cards and add to the pages of my mini book. We stock 6" x 6" which is what I used for these examples, and 8" x 8". You can find them here. More tomorrow. You might also like: Fashion Digi Stamps Launched Quick Make Christmas Cards Introducing

Do you remember 2007? well you may do now but if I ask you that question again in 12 months time, just how much will you remember? Sometimes it is difficult to put photos in order but a lot easier to list events by date.

Karen has just completed the first of many classes focusing on a year and she started with an easy one, 2007. Over the coming months and years we will a few classes dedicated to a certain year or decade. Keep a look out for them. It's a good way to add to your album or indeed a good way to start scrapping. Here are some close ups of the completed class. The layouts will appear on the website gallery over the next few days.

The February newsletter will be posted out the last week in January with classes going on sale from 1st February. Cardmakers watch out for a new classes by Gayle Bond. It's nice to know...... that the cards we show in the shop are an inspiration to our customers. Two of Gayle Bonds cards were definately that as we saw when Julie and Marina brought these into the shop to

show us.

Although similar to the originals both cards have been slightly adapted showing off Julie and Marinas talents. Lovely cards. Well done!! SUNDAY, JANUARY 13, 2008

Okay

so classes are all prepared and at last I am free to create for myself again. Here is the 6 x 6 page I finished tonight for the Deco swap on UKS. It is very difficult to get the camera to pick up the detail but needless to say it took a lot more work than it looks.

The base is cream linen card coloured using Tattered Angels Autumn Leaves Glimmer Mist and dabbed with a piece of kitchen roll. (You can see the circular marks it left which gave me my background. Next the wording on the left was stamped in red stazon. On the right I stamped the Buddha using The essential Glue pad and then laid gold leaf over the top. I put a piece of paper on top of the gold leaf, pressed firmly and then used a stencil brush to remove any unused leaf. The same technique was used for the dragonfly on the red card which was then backed on a piece of black card and sewn to the page with gold thread. I finished off the piece with a dragon coin suspended by twisted gold wire. The maple leaves were cut from some paper I had and decorated with a Gold Dabber. Here are the 3 rejected backgrounds which I can adapt for another project in the future.

I really enjoyed doing it. Hope you like it. You might also like: I've been really poorly Crazy Saturday…….. More photos from yesterday

New Years Resolution I don't normally make a New years resolution but this year I am making an exception. In 2008 I am resolved to enter as many swaps and competitions as I have the time to do. To make sure I start off on the right foot I have started the New Year by joining 2 swaps. The first is the UKS Altered Art Deco Swap. This really appealed to me as I only have to swap one page per month and I know that I can do that without letting anyone down. The second swap is on the Cherry Pie Art Forum. This is a 9/9 ATC swap using an opening shutter stamp. As stamping is one of my passions I though it was worth a shot and after all we do love their stamps (and we sell them too). I will let you know how I get on. We have had loads and loads of superb entries for the design Team Competitions and it is going to be so hard getting the entries down to the last 5 per category. We will take great care in choosing and hope to have this decided by mid week and will let all the lucky finalists

know asap. While this is going on please bear in mind that should you win you will be asked to join the Design Team. Have a think about the time you will need to spend on each project and the timescales you will need to keep. It is important that if you make the commitment that you are able deliver on time. Karen will be putting a load of new layouts and cards up in the shop this week for new inspiration including the Design Team 2007 Christmas layouts so well worth a visit. I know that when she first saw the papers she wasn't happy but she soon got stuck in and the following 3 layouts are the results of her efforts. The most difficult technique was the paper pleating which, although effective, takes patience. Unfortunately the scans do not do them justice so I will be taking more detailed photos for the gallery.
