Pilates Mary Ayers 520-638-7916 scov.pilates@gmail.com Mon., 3 PM, Thu., 1:30 PM, AFC/Studio

Understanding the principles of Pilates takes a little time and patience because some of the exercises are different from other forms of exercise, but they are fun, interesting and challenging. Pilates can actually become addictive. It teaches proper balance, breathing, focus on your core (your abdomen and back muscles) and movement control. The constant movement from one exercise to another results in developing more strength and stamina. Even your posture is improved. Joint flexibility and mobility increase. Two experienced instructors conduct the mat Pilates classes for us and will modify any of the moves for you, if necessary. The cost is only $8/class and the annual club dues are $20 pp. Please stop by and watch a class. Call Mary.

A new 10-week class begins on Thursday, March 17. New students are welcome and asked to call Alice Hutchison for information or to register.

Tai chi is an ancient Chinese tradition that involves slow focused movements. Because of the benefits for balance, strength, and improved breathing, it is an exercise especially suitable for seniors.

A fact known by researchers is an individual’s brain loves attention. The goal is to minimize the risk of dementia. This research suggests that the brain needs a healthy diet, exercise, regular check-ups and to play word games.

The Scrabble Club welcomes anyone who wants to socialize, make new friends and feed the brain. Don’t worry if you are a beginner, the players just enjoy socializing.
