Smiling faces of SCOV tennis players attending the player appreciation and recognition event

Warm weather is upon us, and we don’t want to miss out on the great fun and exercise of tennis. Note that our summer hours above (in the header) have been adjusted to accommodate the warm weather and to get us up and going earlier in the morning, when the sun starts shining. We’ve also added a club-organized mixed tennis group on Monday, Wednesday and Friday, so there are even more options for everyone.

We miss our seasonal tennis friends, but the courts are still in action with several hours of fun. Players have taken advantage of the tennis lessons provided this past winter and are applying what they’ve learned. Keep alert for SCOV tennis events in the Tipster and newsletters during the upcoming year. If you are interested in the great sport of tennis, grab your racket and head to the courts. Or, if you want to join one or more of the many Tennis Club organized playing groups, please contact Jim Benshoof. All are welcome at any skill level.

Wallyball Pres. Chris Baird 520-344-9170 cbaird0622@gmail.com VP Don Kahl 605-310-3270 kahl.don@gmail.com Treas. Janell Raty 530-401-2477 janell066@yahoo.com Game days, Tue., Fri., setup 12:45 PM, play 1-3 PM, AFC/Racquetball Ct.

Wallyball is volleyball played on a racquetball court with three to five players on a side. Players use the side walls to create angles, but the ball cannot hit the ceiling or the back wall of the opposing team. It is a terrific aerobic activity that tones muscles and improves coordination and balance.

Come join to see if this game is for you. Both men and women are welcome, and tryouts are encouraged. We play on Tuesdays and Fridays from 1-3 PM. It’s great fun and we look forward to seeing you there. Water Volleyball Pres. Rich Winter 520-900-7542 Richwinmaui@gmail.com VP Pete Coy 360-739-4100 Petecoy@gmail.com Treas. John Lesko 248-231-0546 Azjl1946@gmail.com Recreational play Sun., Thu., 1-3 PM, Advanced play Mon. 1-3 PM, Tue., 10 AM-Noon, Desert Oasis pool

Recreational play is for anyone, regardless of their ability. Some advanced players play on recreational days, but the pace is more casual, so anyone can participate. Competitive play is for the more advanced players. The most important component for playing is laughter, laughing at each other or even ourselves, when we miss an easy shot. If you are curious, stop by, but bring your suit, because you may be compelled to join the fun.
