Mobile Path to Purchase: Google Report – 5th November 2013 Google has commissioned Nielsen to conduct a research among mobile users, to have a better understanding of the role of mobile research and shopping process. Key findings from the research:
Consumers spend 15+ hours on mobile sites and apps. 48% of consumers start their research on search engines rather than branded apps. 69% of the mobile users expected to find a local business within 5-mile radius.

Bing A Better Ad Platform – 4th November 2013 Microsoft is not satisfied with being #2! After years of stagnant success, Microsoft is fueled with the drive to make Bing Ads a better platform. Recent changes to its broad match serving, ad extensions are helping to drive more volume to advertisers. However, that is only the beginning. Google Ad Icons Appear on Desktop – 4th November 2013 Back in September Google started to introduce yellow ‘Ad’ icons on the Google search engine result pages to differentiate paid ad listings from organic, and now they seem set introduce this to desktop device after being spotted across the internet recently.

Search Network WITH Display Select - 4th of November 2013 Google released a new campaign type in order to offer advertisers a better way to reach people. The new campaign replaces the former Search & Display Network option. It offers extended reach of the search only campaigns towards the Display Network, using improved signals and methods of predicting when and where your ads would show. Initial tests showed that CTR improved by 35%.

Microsoft & Twitter Renew Allegiance – 3rd November 2013 Microsoft and Twitter this week renewed their partnership that allowed tweets to be indexed in the Bing search engine. Microsoft meanwhile had the following to say concerning the announcement: “The past four years partnering with Twitter have been great, and we’re excited to continue that relationship in order to help deliver the best possible search experience.”
