US CPC Trends Show Large Regional Swings A recent analysis by Wordstream of English language keywords in the US, has revealed some interesting statistics about CPC levels at state level. Despite the expectation that large metropolitan areas such as New York or California would have greater CPCs on average, the results show a different picture altogether. More rural states such as Alabama and Alaska were averaging CPCs at over 40% above the US average, with the former showing the highest CPCs at 78% above average. A couple of other key takeouts pertain to the population question, illustrating that the population size of a state does not dictate CPC levels, and employment rate that does dictate the CPC, with low unemployment leading to lower CPCs; the states with lowest CPCs vs. average were South Dakota and Nebraska at 65% and 45% below average respectively.
