Maltese After-School Lessons
Following last year's positive outcomes for ‘Maltese After-School’ lessons, we are now working to re-start these sessions for students in Year 5 up to Year 8. The aim of these lessons is to offer our students another opportunity to put in practice what they have learned at school. We firmly believe that if we give students extensive use of the Maltese language, they will subsequently embrace it better. The days that are currently being considered are Mondays, Tuesdays or Wednesdays. We have also taken into account parents' suggestions and therefore we are also looking at having a session on Saturdays. If any of you are interested, or if would like more information about this project, please contact us via email on the following address and compile Subject area as ‘Maltese After-School’ academic@stedwards.edu.mt We would like to know your preferred days in order to pick the two days that accommodate most parents and students. Kindly inform us of your preferred days by not later than Wednesday 23rd November 2011.

Infant Reading Workshop The Junior School and Kindergarten have held two very successful workshops for parents. The first was entitled ‘The Teaching of Reading’ for Yrs 1 & 2 Junior School parents and the second ‘Learning through Play’ for Kindergarten parents. Mrs. Anne Tabone, Head of Junior School and Mrs. Carmel Watson, Year 2 Teacher gave the first talk in where points were highlighted for ways in which parents can help their children become interested and successful readers.
THE EDWARDIAN GAZETTE Junior School & Kindergarten Infant Reading Workshop The second talk which was given by Mrs. Julie Mangion, Head of Kindergarten, stressed the importance of structured play in a child’s development.
