THE EDWARDIAN GAZETTE Message from the Headmaster Dear Parents and Community Members As we have now commenced half days, it is most important to take account of the following points: · · · ·
Examinations are ‘just around the corner.’ There are 8 lessons of 30 minute duration. The students are encouraged to walk very quickly from lesson to lesson. Some students may have extra homework in some subjects from time to time. It is important that students attend school every day (unless sick of course).
Speaking of examinations, students should be focusing on study, study and more study. The social element of their lives should be put on hold until the last day of school. The examination timetables are on our website. If parents have children who have difficulty with this, they can contact the College. We are here to assist. Best regards Michael Chittenden Headmaster

THE EDWARDIAN GAZETTE Junior School Crowning of Mary As always during the Month of May, the Junior School boys walked in procession from the school to the Chapel and sang hymns to Mary along the way. Boys carried flowers and candles in the front of the procession and the rest of the boys followed behind with their teachers. During the Mass, the boy chosen for the crowning, Justin S from Yr 5, with two other helpers, Wayne F and Matthias S, climbed the ladder and crowned the statue of Mary, as the Queen of Heaven, with a crown of twelve stars; while the Junior School boys sang “Bring flowers of the Rarest”. The boys who brought flowers and candles placed them at the foot of the statue. The title “Queen of Heaven” has long been a Catholic tradition included in prayers and devotional literature. According to Catholic doctrine, Mary was assumed into heaven and is with Jesus Christ, her divine Son. Mary is called Queen not only because of her Divine Motherhood of Christ but also because God the Father has willed her to have an exceptional role in the work of the eternal salvation of humanity. Mary is known as Queen of Peace, Queen of the Rosary and Queen of the Angels. Junior School boys celebrate this during the Marian month of May, every year. Ms Anne Tabone Head of Junior School
