THE EDWARDIAN GAZETTE Message from the Headmaster Dear Parents and Community Members I trust you had a wonderful Christmas and a happy New Year. It seems that the students have had an interesting break and are now ready for a term of hard, focused work. Important Notice You may have noticed some staff changes in the College. These were a necessary part of a small restructuring process to ensure we are firmly on track educationally and financially. However, I have been advised that some people would like to have some of the changes clarified. Furthermore, given the number of inaccurate and potentially damaging rumours being circulated, the Chairman of the Board of Governors and I will be addressing parents at 2 separate meetings in the College Hall. Middle, Senior and 6th Form:

Monday 17 January – 6.30

KG and Junior School:

Tuesday 18 January – 6.30

The meeting will be introduced by Mr Chris Naudi, Chairman of SEPTA. Please note that, given the meetings will cover the same information, parents may opt to attend either session. We look forward to seeing you on one of these occasions. Regards Michael Chittenden Headmaster

THE EDWARDIAN GAZETTE Notice Board Prime Minister’s Visit: Official opening of New Boarding Facilities Today saw a very important visit by the Prime Minister and Minister of Education. We were, indeed, honoured by having Dr Gonzi officially open our new boarding facilities. This initiative promises to be most exciting as it creates international opportunities that were experienced 'back in the good old days'. Offering IB at 6th Form brings a fresh new perspective to both boarding and day school students. It should be noted, however, that boarding is offered to boys from 11 years of age through to 18 while girls can enrol at 6th Form level. This is another exciting chapter in our long history. A full report will appear in next week’s Gazette. Please click on this link to view the press coverage on-line. Headmaster

Important Notice Regarding Influenza

Significant IT Development Last term, I advised parents that the College was taking part in an extremely significant IT initiative: The Fronter Pilot Project. The ways in which we can utilize technology to learn and communicate are developing at a rapid rate. The aim of this project is to set the foundations and directions for years to come. Importantly, a number of teachers were involved in a full day’s training programme on Wednesday. Hence, the students’ usual timetable was temporarily affected for that day. I very much look forward to reporting further developments to you. Headmaster
