THE EDWARDIAN GAZETTE Message from the Headmaster Dear Parents and Community Members
If your child is sick, please phone or email the College before 8.45am In term of priorites, our health must always come first. This past week, we have had many students away sick. Moreover, each day this week, we have also had an average of 4 staff sick with flu type symptoms. Unfortunately, a number of students are taught by all 4 of these teachers. It goes without saying that having sick staff affects our educational programmes. In response , we have set up a new system whereby students will be supervised (with relevant work) in the Study Hall as opposed to individual classrooms. In this way, we can monitor the situation more carefully. This will ensure continuity and minimal disruption of teaching and learning. I do hope, however, that the sickness ‘going around’ is short lived. Keeping our IB Students on Track When students join our IB programme, they automatically sign up for the ‘Fortnightly report’ system. It is self explanatory: Every 2 weeks, the student receives a report which gives details of both effort and grades for all subjects. IB Fortnightly Reports Friday 4 Feb - Year 13 Friday 11 Feb - Year 12 Friday 18 Feb - Year 13 Friday 25 Feb - Year 12 These will be posted on the days listed. Benchmarking Tests for Year 6 Please find below an invitation from the Director of Education. The College is seriously considering participation in these tests as they will be of value in educational terms. They will NOT take the place of our end of year exams; they will be in addition to. If we were to participate, more information will be provided. Michael Chittenden Headmaster
THE EDWARDIAN GAZETTE From the Kindergarten Thinking of Others The curriculum of the Kindergarten children encourages the children to think of others less fortunate than themselves. This is especially pertinent during the Christmas season. During the festive period, many of the children brought donations which included toiletries, detergents and food items to donate to the sisters at the Ursuline Creche in Sliema. This week, Sister Letizia came to the Kindergarten to meet some of the children and to be presented with the considerable amount of items which had been collected. The photo shows Sister Letizia being presented with the items. Julie Mangion Head of Kindergarten

Donation of Footballs by Yellow Pages The College was, indeed, fortunate enough to have been donated 300 footballs by Yellow Pages. This was very generous and much appreciated by the boys. The picture shows Ms Camilleri and Mr Mizzi from Yellow Pages making the presentation to the Head of Department, Mr Ferrante.
