MICHAEL ALFORD

President & CEO

Seminole Boosters, Inc.

Since 1954, a very special group of passionate Seminoles has dedicated their resources to helping Florida State Athletics succeed. Every year, we continue to grow, and have come so far since that time. Now, as we kickoff new annual campaigns, we also reflect on the remarkable suppor t we continue to receive from you and your fellow supporters. Your commitment provides educational and leadership oppor tunities for more than 500 student-athletes who represent our beloved brand. Everything that continues to be accomplished—cumulative GPA above 3.0, more than 6,500 hours of community outreach served, graduation rate at 85 percent or higher—is a direct result of your investment into this program. Over the past seven decades, we have seen more than 6,500 student-athletes earn their degree, with about half being first-generation college students. As an institution of higher education, graduation is the goal and athletics is the vessel. We also continue our commitment to competitive success. Our teams continue to earn conference and national accolades while competing for championships each year. The Florida State Athletics brand is strong and we embrace the role as a shining light for our institution across the country and around the world. It is my pleasure to share with you the 2020 financial update. Enclosed you will find an overall summary as well as a campaign update for the prior fundraising year, which includes endowment, facility, estate planning, annual fund and Coaches Clubs. We hope this repor t displays the impact your contributions have on our program. If you have questions about a specific campaign or fund, please contact J.P. Sinclair, Seminole Boosters Chief Financial Officer at (850) 644-3484 or jpsinclair@fsu.edu. On behalf of the entire athletic depar tment, including coaches and student-athletes, as well as Seminole Boosters, thank you for your loyal support. Go Noles! Sincerely,

Michael Alford, President and Chief Executive Officer SEMINOLE BOOSTERS E N D O F Y E A R R E P O R T

B O B D AV I S

Chairman of the Board

Seminole Boosters, Inc.

I personally want to thank each and every Seminole Booster for their suppor t of Florida State University athletics during this past year. It has been a year of anything but normal, yet our donors have stepped up to help us get through a challenging time. We have accomplished many things this past year including hiring a new President and CEO, renovating and opening Seminole Legacy Golf Club, and transferring over $25 million to the Athletic Depar tment. It is only because of your support that we are able to accomplish such things and positively impact the lives of hundreds of studentathletes. I am so humbled to Chair the Boosters and I will continue to do anything I can to show my appreciation for all that you have done.

D AV I D CO B U R N

Vice President & Director of Athletics Florida State University This past year may have been one of the most challenging in our program’s history. We worked tirelessly to navigate the countless accommodations required to ensure our student-athletes, staff, and coaches could practice and compete safely during the COVID-19 pandemic. Regardless of these unforeseen challenges, I have tremendous optimism for the program. Our teams are remarkably resilient, and most continue to compete for ACC and national championships this season. No sport was impacted more than football this year, when Coach Norvell had to install an entirely new system without the benefit of spring practice or a normal off-season. Yet we landed an exceptional recruiting class, and there is unbridled enthusiasm within that program. I want to thank all of you for your generous support of FSU Athletics and the Seminole Boosters. Simply put, Seminole Athletics would not be among the best programs in the country without your support. Now more than ever, we cannot be successful with you. I speak to our student-athletes constantly, and I assure you that they are not only aware of the assistance you provide, they are also extremely grateful. I pledge to you that we will continue to do everything we can to ensure that our studentathletes, coaches and staff remain safe and healthy. With your continued support, we will emerge from these challenges stronger and more united than ever. I know the COVID-19 crisis has also affected all of you, both personally and professionally. Our hope is that you and your families remain safe and healthy. Thank you, again, for everything you do for all of us every day, and GO NOLES!

Facilities Update At Florida State University, we strive to be a model for student success, seeking comprehensive excellence in all we do. One of the most essential areas of focus is our athletic facilities. Although there were not any major renovations that occurred, an enormous focus was placed on the safety of our student-athletes, staff, and fans like. New COVID-19 protocols were introduced which included heightened sanitation procedures and temporary housing solutions for student-athletes who were required to quarantine. Like other institutions, we also made major modifications to the way we operate on a day-to-day basis, affecting the way our student-athletes train and compete, our departments operate, and the overall fan experience. While some of the adjustments may be temporary, many will continue forward as best practice and will become the new normal.

Every day when I arrive to campus, I’m reminded of the impor tance that each of our donors has on our program. Because of their financial suppor t, we recently opened the all new Seminole Legacy Golf Club, one of the premier University golf courses in the country. I can’t recall another time where the Seminole Boosters, Athletic Depar tment, and University have worked so well together for a common goal. The impact this course has on our student-athletes, community, and faculty & staff is remarkable. That being said, it has been a challenging year and it moves me to see how excited our student-athletes are to be out on the course competing after the COVID-19 pandemic. Your contributions are put to use each and every day to better the lives of these young people, both on the course and in the classroom, and for that I am grateful.

At the present moment, we are in an ongoing evaluation stage and continue to assess our master plan of greatest needs overall for the department and within each sport. Some immediate needs have been identified and we are actively fundraising for an improved dining and nutrition center, renovations to our training and hydrotherapy room, and enhancements to the football locker room.

In the past year, more than $6.7 million was pledged to make these and other facility projects happen, with over $8.2 million in contributions collected. We thank our supporters who share a passion for these sports and helped us make this investment in current and future Seminoles. Unrestricted Giving Unrestricted commitments are more important than ever before in helping to fund the priorities of the Athletic Department. Unrestricted funds provide the flexibility for FSUAA leadership to identify areas where they can have the greatest impact. Unlike facility or endowment gifts, unrestricted commitments are not earmarked for a specific designation and can therefore go to work immediately in core areas to support our student-athletes and Coaches as well as the athletic facilities. They can also help to cover operating costs that are accrued throughout the academic year. By providing Florida State with a steady stream of discretionary monies, unrestricted dollars enable the Athletic Department to fund recurring costs and to address unforeseen challenges as they arise.

Annual Fund Florida State Athletics relies on the unwavering dedication of alumni and fans who demonstrate their commitment year after year. This continued annual support is essential for FSU to meet the ongoing and ever-changing needs of college athletics. As a preeminent University, a Top 20 public institution, Florida State is also ranked number two athletically among all Division I institutions (357) for overall winning percentage since 2015. The cumulative student-athlete GPA is at an all-time high and above a 3.0. Additionally, our student-athletes serve more than 6,500 community outreach hours annually because giving back is one of our priority teachings. Annual members are critical to the overall success of our program by funding the most vital needs of the FSU Athletics Department including scholarships, strength and conditioning, coaches, and sports medicine.

Coaches Clubs The Seminole Boosters Coaches Clubs provides alumni and fans of Florida State Athletics an exclusive opportunity to direct their financial support to the head coach and team of their choice. At the Coaches Clubs, we believe that it’s “Your Team. Your Choice”. Every dollar given to the Coaches Clubs is immediately directed to the program of your designation in order to provide funds for urgent needs not covered in the team’s annual budget. Funds from the Coaches Clubs are a major component in helping every program at Florida State compete at the highest level of collegiate athletics. Coaches Clubs helps develop elite talent into championship student-athletes both in the classroom and in competition. Some of the pressing needs of our programs that our Coaches Clubs members provide support for are: • Purchasing state-of-the-art training equipment to provide enhanced student-athlete safety and overall performance • Providing summer school opportunities for deserving student-athletes • Facility enhancements and upgrades • Supplemental funding for “Team Impact Trips” that are critical for recruiting and enhancing the overall FSU student-athlete experience

Seminole Football Renaissance The Renaissance Campaign was a focused effort by the entire university to raise commitments to support the transition to Coach Mike Norvell’s football staff. A strategic fundraising campaign was launched to solicit 20 donors to commit $1 million each. As of June 30, 2020, over $15.5 million has been pledged towards this effort. Little did we know the monumental importance these funds would have on the Athletic Department. The COVID-19 pandemic swept through the country and had a devastating impact on the University as a whole. Dollars pledged to the Renaissance Campaign became a lifesaver for Florida State Athletics and was one of the reasons that Seminole Boosters, Inc. was able to fulfill their financial obligation last calendar year.
