It's what happened when the IRS read this story, and demanded 48 years of amended tax returns LIVING IN SIN: After 48 years of marriage, Bob and Norma Clark of Redlands, Calif., thought it was time to get their affairs in order. One thing they needed: a copy of their marriage licence. They didn't have one, so they sent $20 to get a copy from the San Mateo County Hall of Records. "They went back to the year 1956, but no record of our marriage could be found," Bob said. Luckily, the church they were married in had a copy in their files, but the county wouldn't accept it -- certificates have to be filed within two years, the county said. Bottom line: their marriage wasn't legally valid. The Clarks found two witnesses to their wedding who were still alive, got a new marriage license, and filed it to make things legal with the state. "And now we are here to tell our tale," Norma said. "Everyone thinks it's a real kick." (RC/ Redlands Daily Facts) ...But that's not the interesting tale.

REALLY -- WE'RE NOT OVERREACTING! Cedar Creek High School in Galloway Township, N.J., is a special magnet school which focuses on engineering and environmental sciences, with special handson learning. But when a teacher saw a drawing of "what appeared to be weapons" in a 16-year-old student's notebook the week after the school shootings in Newtown, Conn., she alerted school administrators, who called in the police. Responding officers determined the boy "demonstrated behavior that caused them to be concerned," and brought in the Egg Harbor City police, search dogs from the Hamilton Township Police Department, the Atlantic City Police Department, the Gloucester County Sheriff's Department, the Cumberland County Sheriff's Department, the Millville Police Department, the Salem County Sheriff's Department, the Atlantic City Police Department's Bomb Squad, the Oceanville Fire Department, and Galloway EMS to search the boy's house. There, they found "electronic parts" and "several types of chemicals that when mixed together could cause an explosion," according to investigators. The boy was arrested on charges of possession of an explosive device, even though those chemicals were not mixed together, and even though Greater Egg Harbor Regional High School District Superintendent Steve Ciccariellos said the boy was not in "conflict" with any student or teacher; police admitted the boy didn't threaten anyone, and there was "no indication he was making a bomb, or using a bomb, or detonating a bomb," Police Chief Pat Moran said, adding the boy cooperated fully with investigators. Ciccariellos praised the teacher for having "the sense to report it to school officials," and now that the boy is in juvenile detention, it's "business as usual" at the school, and by the way, even without the Connecticut shooting being so fresh in the news, "we would have handled this exactly the same way." (RC/Press of Atlantic City) Which, of course, is the problem.

RDMC'S is a family run business with over 189 years of combined experience in the glazing, construction and steel industry. They are specialist manufacturers of Glass curtains and stainless steel. Using only the highest quality materials including 316 marine grade stainless steel so as not to cause corrosion problems. They have their own Glass toughening machine which means that the complete glass curtain system, including the glass, is manufactured under one roof. They also manufacture UPVC and Aluminium windows and doors, roofs, including sliding (Electric or manual), complete steel structures, Acoustic glass for bars, mirrors, table tops, sealed units, splash backs, shop fronts, shelves, walk on glass, stairs, Glass balustrade, pool surrounds, in fact they can assist you with all your glass needs. The Glass Curtain system that they manufacture is a German system called Sunflex, it is typical of German design, much time and thought has gone into the system making it one of, if not the best system available on the market today. The system is completely different to other systems that are of similar money, Sunflex is top hung which means that the weight of the glass is distributed evenly and not all sitting on the bottom rubbing metal against metal, this system runs on stainless steel wheels and bronze ball bearings, each panel of glass has four holes drilled into it so that the profile can be bolted to the glass as well as glued, this is the only system to do this, all other system are merely glued to the profile. Sunflex Glass Curtains also come with an additional adjustment bar, this means that if there is any movement at all, the glass curtains can be adjusted up or down with just an allen key instead of having to take all the panels of glass out and start again. The Sunflex system has all these extras however you will be surprised to find that there is not a great deal of difference in price at all between this system and others that are bottom hung.

This system has undergone many tests in Germany including an opening and closing test of over 10,000 cycles and also a wind test of up to 2000 Pascal’s, all the test documentation can be viewed at their offices. They say please be aware that there are copy systems appearing on the market of Sunflex, which have undergone no safety tests and could be dangerous, Please contact Germany to verify who is an Official Distributor and Manufacturer of Sunflex. They also recommend that anybody looking to install glass curtains or stainless steel, visit the factory and see where they are being manufactured. With this financial climate many companies on the coast have filed for bankruptcy, unfortunately you will find that these companies are still trying to trade without proper premises and licences and merely change their company names. Do ask questions, a reliable company has nothing to hide. For any info please email on info@rdmcsglass.com or check out their website on www.rdmcsglass.com to see installation photos, information about their system and also customer references. Or see their facebook page for regularly updated installations.

Kazakstan continued During the 19th century about 400,000 Russians immigrated to Kazakhstan, and about one million Slavs, Germans, Jews, and others immigrated to the region during the first third of the 20th century. The competition for land and water that ensued between the Kazakhs and the newcomers caused great resentment against colonial rule during the final years of Tsarist Russia, with the most serious uprising, the Central Asian Revolt, occurring in 1916. The Kazakhs attacked Russian and Cossack settlers and military garrisons. The revolt resulted in a series of clashes and in brutal massacres committed by both sides. Both sides resisted the communist government until late 1919. Kazakhstan under Soviet Rule Soviet repression of the traditional elite, along with forced collectivization in the late

1920s–1930s, brought mass hunger the population declined by 22% due to starvation and mass emigration. Estimates today suggest that the population of Kazakhstan would be closer to 20 million if there had been no starvation or migration of Kazakhs. During the 1930s, many renowned Kazakh writers, thinkers, poets, politicians and historians were slaughtered on Stalin's orders, both as part of the repression and as a methodical pattern of suppressing Kazakh identity and culture. Soviet rule took hold, and a Communist apparatus steadily worked to fully integrate Kazakhstan into the Soviet system. In 1936 Kazakhstan became a Soviet republic. Kazakhstan experienced population inflows of millions exiled from other parts of the Soviet Union during the 1930s and 1940s; many of the deportation victims were deported to Siberia or Kazakhstan merely due to their ethnic heritage or beliefs, and were in many cases interned in some of the biggest Soviet labour camps, including ALZHIR camp outside Astana, which was reserved for the wives of men considered "enemies of the people" .

World War II marked an increase in industrialisation in support of the war effort. In 1953, Soviet leader Nikita Khrushchev initiated the ambitious "Virgin Lands" program to turn the traditional pasture lands of Kazakhstan into a major grain-producing region for the Soviet Union. which remains the source of livelihood for a large percentage of Kazakhstan's population. Growing tensions within Soviet society led to a demand for political and economic reforms, which came to a head in the 1980s. A factor that contributed to this immensely was the decision to test a nuclear bomb on the territory in Semey in 1949. This had a catastrophic ecological and biological effect that was felt generations later, and Kazakh anger toward the Soviet system escalated. In December 1986, mass demonstrations by young ethnic Kazakhs, later called Jeltoqsan riot, took place in Almaty to protest the replacement of the First Secretary of the Communist Party of the Kazakh SSR. Governmental troops suppressed the unrest, several people were killed and many

demonstrators were jailed. In the waning days of Soviet rule, discontent continued to grow and find expression under Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev's policy of glasnost. Independence Kazakhstan declared independence on December 16, 1991. It was the last of the Soviet republics to declare independence. Central Kazakhstan is the location of one of the world's largest lakes, Balkhash, the unique Karkarala mountain forest oasis, as well as numerous places of interest representing archaeological and ethnographic sites. Eastern Kazakhstan bears the Altai Mountain range and its foothill forest regions, as well as the Irtysh River, and lakes Zaysan, Markakol, Alakol and Sauskan. Southern Kazakhstan also hosts the world famous space port, Baykonur. It is quite possible that in the near future, not only the local people, but also travelers from abroad will be able to get one step closer to space if not by joining a rocket launch, then by witnessing it from a nearby location.

If you are fed up with eating meat after the festive season and just long for something lighter, but still filling and full of flavour , this recipe is perfect, quick and light on the washing up! I´ve used hake (merluza in Spanish) fillets, but can be swopped for any boneless white fish, such as cod, bass or whiting. Salmon is a bit too rich to marry with the spicy chorizo, but as regards the herbs, you can exchange the coriander for parsley, if you wish. HAKE, CHORIZO AND POTATO ONE POT SUPPER Ingredients 1 tbsp extra virgin olive oil 1 onion finely sliced 50g raw chorizo , peeled and thinly diced 450g salad or baby new potatoes , thinly sliced 4 tbsp dry sherry , or more if you need it (or use white wine) 2 skinless, boneless hake fillets 6 button mushrooms halved good handful cherry tomatoes, halved 20g bunch fresh coriander , chopped Pinch of chilli powder crusty bread , to serve

1. Heat a large lidded frying pan, then add the diced chorizo, fry for 2 mins until it starts to release its oils, then tip in the potatoes, onions , mushrooms and some seasoning. Splash over 3 tbsp Sherry, cover the pan tightly, then leave to cook for 10-15 mins until the potatoes are just tender. Move them around the pan a bit halfway through.

2. Season the fish well. Give the potatoes another stir, add the cherry tomatoes and most of the chopped coriander to the pan, then lay the fish on top. Splash over 1 tbsp Sherry, sprinkle with chilli powder and put the lid on again, then leave to cook for 5 mins, or until the fish has turned white and is flaky when tested in the middle.

3. If you don´t have a frying pan deep enough, or with a lid, you can finish this recipe off in a pre heated oven, at 200 deg C, simply check that the fish is just cooked through, before serving. 4. Scatter the whole dish with a little more coriander and drizzle with more extra virgin oil. Serve straight away with crusty bread.

Enjoy

ACEBUCHAL We start our A to Z of the Axarquia with a trip to the little known, hidden Hamlet of Acebuchal. I discovered that there are many stories about this hidden treasure of a village, the most frequently told one being that it was where the resistance fighters against Franco hid until they were discovered by the Civil Guard and chased out of town. Others say that the villagers just upped and left one day to find a better way of life but whatever the reason for its abandonment in 1949 it remained in ruins, a virtual ghost town, until 1998 when a young couple, Antonio “El Zumbo” and his wife Virtudes returned and started to rebuild the village fulfilling a lifelong dream. The first house was restored that year and by 2003 there was great excitement with the arrival of mains electricity to the village, this made it possible to create a neighbours association and in 2005 when the streets had been repaired the village held its first Mass in 50 years. The original village can be traced back to the mid 1700´s but archaeological finds and Roman and Arab coins prove earlier settlements, long before the 1600´s. El Zumbo and his family now own half the village they so painstakingly resurrected and many small houses with pools are rented out as holiday homes to people who want to escape from the “busyness” of everyday life. This hidden Hamlet is a real treasure with its cobbled streets and white washed houses with brightly coloured front doors, beautiful gardens and terracotta pathways leading through archways and down to the river bed filled with bright pink Oliander bushes.

There are no shops or any other facilities here, just the one bar/restaurant owned and run by Antonio and his family. His son, Antonio Hijo runs the bar and also makes the scrummy ice cream with all natural fruit ingredients. I have sampled the blueberry, chocolate mint, fruits of the forest and chirimoya which are all delicious. The home made bread served with olive oil sprinkled with herbs is excellent as is the summer fruits cake which served warm with cream is mouth wateringly good. Don´t leave without sampling the home made sweet wine, made and proffered exuberantly by El Zumbo himself, always ready to welcome guests and have his photo taken! In May of 2011 he opened an Artesan shop next to the restaurant which he is very happy to open up when requested. Here is the perfect spot for nature lovers who can while away the hours in this tranquil hamlet situated within a natural park. From here you can take a hike, paint a picture, compose music, write a book or simply do nothing but enjoy the beautiful surroundings. So how do we find this hidden village? Its situated 6 kilometres from Frigiliana and 14 kilometres from Torrox. To get there you take the mountain road linking the 2 larger villages and along the way you will see a wooden sign with the menu for the restaurant and the website www.elacebuchal.com. You can drive down a concrete track with beautiful houses on either side until you come to a good dirt track where you can leave your car and walk the last 1.7klm to build up an appetite. Don´t worry, if you are not the athletic type you can drive down between the pine trees and park your car within the village itself. Do take time out for a trip there as it is just picture perfect and waiting for you to discover it with your eyes, your camera or you watercolours. The bar closes at 4pm so do make sure you get there in time to sit on the lovely terrace and sample the excellent homecooked meals, homemade sweet wine, ice-cream and cakes!

Rihanna says she got back with Chris Brown because she couldn't deny the way she felt. In a revealing interview in Rolling Stone, she says: 'I wanted him to know what it felt like to lose me. 'To feel the consequences of that. I got real with myself, and I just couldn't bury the way I felt. 'I decided it was more important for me to be happy, and I wasn't going to let anybody's opinion get in the way of that. Even if it's a mistake, it's my mistake. After being tormented for so many years, being angry and dark, I'd rather just live my truth and take the backlash. I can handle it.' She says Chris, 23, who's still on probation for assaulting Rihanna, 24, in 2009, deserves 'support and encouragement' rather than criticism from the public. 'Of course everybody has their opinion about him, because of what he's done,' she adds. 'That will always be there. But he made a mistake, and he's paid his dues. He's paid so much.' Little Mix leave party to comfort Perrie Edwards about Zayn Malik cheating allegations Little Mix have been helping Perrie Edwards through a tough time Perrie Edwards has been putting a brave face on it Zayn Malik was accused of cheating on Perrie Edwards at the weekend One Direction won a gong at France's NRJ Awards at the weekend Little Mix took a night off from partying after their tour date in Nottingham this week to help Perrie Edwards come to terms with allegations that her boyfriend Zayn Malik cheated on her. The girls had planned a party with friends and family at the Nottingham Hart hotel but ended up heading back to their suite after a few minutes to talk about boys. 'Most bands normally go hell for leather on the big press night, but Little Mix just sat up chatting,' says a source. 'It was exactly what Perrie needed. She seems to be planning to stick with him and she needs the support of her mates at the moment.' Australian waitress Courtney Webb claimed over the weekend that she'd slept with One Direction's Zayn, 20, following a party at his London home last Wednesday.

After the reports emerged, Zayn flew straight back to the UK from 1D's appearance at France's NRJ Awards in a bid to salvage his romance with Perrie, 19.'Perrie spent the weekend with her mum, Debbie, who went along to the Welsh legs of their tour with Jade's mum, Norma, and then the Zayn thing happened,' the insider tells the Daily Mirror.'She had to squeeze in time to fix their relationship before rehearsals. She hadn't had time to chat to her girls about the whole situation.' What next for Becks David Beckham reported for training at Arsenal on but Arsene Wenger suspects England's most-capped outfield player is not plotting a return to the Barclays Premier League this season. Beckham, who ended his contract at Los Angeles Galaxy last year, called Wenger to ask a personal favour and the Frenchman was happy to oblige in the hope the 37-year-old might spread his knowledge and experience around the training camp. But the Arsenal manager has no immediate desire to add the former England skipper to his squad, despite failing to sign any new recruits this month.(Daily Mail )

Revelation TV Re-locate to Spain: Blogging! How it all began:

The BIG ‘50’ really I’m not sure how I got there. Driving through England (to meet a friend I had never met! That’s another story!!) I was listening to a 3CD audio box set called ‘A certain age’. This was a present from my wonderful husband who from now on in these blogs I will refer to as ....The other half. I can only say those stories were not blessing me, (I myself had had an affair, the fruit of which was Pain! With a capital P) as I drove I prayed.....”Lord let me tell stories that will help bless and encourage others” At that precise moment I turned off the CD player and tuned in to a local radio station; the first words I heard were and I quote “Today you can share your story with the whole world” wow my ears perked up at that statement! What an answer to prayer!! The presenter went on to talk about ‘Blogging’ this was practically unheard of at the time and certainly I had never heard of Blogs: All this occurred in the late 1990’s. Now I will fast forward to 2008.

I was busy on my computer teaching myself to produce flyers for my small catering business; using publisher software, my computer skills, although growing were definitely in the early baby stages of development. It was summer, August 2008 in a couple of days it would be 8th 08 2008 so I sent up a silent prayer, “Lord Jesus please give me a sign on that day, let something wonderful and life changing happen!! I believed that the number 8 was a sign for ‘New beginnings’

The day dawned, it was the day Revelation TV phoned and asked me if I would like to work in their office two days a week; I can tell you, I was excited.

And so I started driving to London two days a week, working in the Revelation TV Studio / office. It was here I met young people ....young people who wrote ‘Blogs’ Wow excited. My computer and office skills sky-rocketed, soon I was blogging, I had realized my dream, and God had answered my prayer to tell my stories to “The whole world” Click on the links below to find out more about us, or email me on the address below. www.revelationtv.com angie@revelationtv.com

After a period of instability it finally has someone of good integrity to take the reigns. New Manageress Suzanne has a long history in hairdressing and is delighted to be in charge of this salon. She told us her story, She has been a hairdresser for 30 years so “it's in her blood” she says. Hair & beauty was in the family so from an early age she started cutting her dollies hair. Over the years she has worked all over the world from South Africa, Portugal, Spain and England as well as her native Scotland. In The Julius salon in Glasgow she learned about hair products, how important it is to use good the good quality ones some of which have not changed since the 70s, they got it right then so why change.

Her experience in South Africa with her “shampoo ladies” as she calls them Hasia and Anne taught her all about Afro hair and the secret to keeping it cared for and how to deal with bad scalp conditions. She had some TOWIE experience working in a salon full of Vidal Sassoon trained stylists in Leigh on Sea in Essex. “I learned a lot there” she told us. “But you never finish your apprenticeship”. In her experience she has dealt with a multitude of languages picking up a knowledge of Portuguese whilst working there and dealing with French and Italian clients, “Hairdressing needs very little language, we all want to look our best for work or for love”. She has worked on the Costa which she felt was one of the best and is hoping that that will rub off on her own salon. News from Mijas Bowls club

The Mijas Masters 2013 This year for the Mijas Masters we had a great response to the competition with 52 pairs and 38 triples. For most of the time we had good weather with only the Saturday being unable to play due to a down pour of rain. On the Sunday the quarter final’s of the pair’s was played between Alan Plimmer, Lynne Heseltine (Superbowl) and John and Ann Fenton (Mijas). The Fenton’s won this game. Also playing was Rob & Geraldine Robinson (Mijas) and Norma Ewing with Bill Gregory (Benalmadina). This game finished with Rob and Geraldine getting through. Mike Detheridge with Susan Gerard (standing in for Pat Fisher who was unable to bowl), played Susan Walker and Alan Turner (Santa Maria). In this game Mike & Susan got through. The other game had Jackie Symonds and Malcolm Roberts (Louro) playing against Terry and Ruby Groom (Superbowl), Jackie and Mack winning that match. In one semi final Jackie and Mack played Mike and Susan, Mike and Susan getting through to the final. The other semi final saw John and Ann play Rob and Geraldine, John and Ann winning after a good game. Now the final would have to be played on Monday with John and Ann against Mike and Pat. The triples final was played on the Sunday and what a good game that was. Gordon and Margret Kain with Garry Aldridge played Tony and Val Thornton with Roberto Wright. It was a very close game and there was much excitement from the appreciative audience. It was not till the last end that it was decided, Gordon’s team winning by 3 woods. The competition was sponsored by Lloyd’s Bank International, represented by Alison Marshal who presented the prizes, our captain Barbara Land gave thanks to everyone who helped to make this competition a success. There was a buffet and drinks for everyone, the raffle prizes were drawn, though it should have been the end, we still had to play the pairs final on the Monday at 1 pm. It turned out lovely and sunny but the wind was a bit chilly at the far end. Quite a few turned out to offer encouragement to both Mike Detheridge with Pat Fisher and to John and Ann Fenton. It turned out to be a wonderful game, at the 15th end John and Ann were in the lead 21-12. They did not score again but Mike and Pat by the 18th end had only brought their scored to 18 so John and Ann won their first major competition to lots of applause and

Litigation in Spain and the UK By De Cotta Law What are the major differences between the two jurisdictions in civil matters? One of the main differences is that the pleadings or documents submitted to the court in the English system are shorter and indeed the system now requires a “skeleton argument” which is literally the bare bones of the case. In Spain the demanda or claim – made in court has to be argued in full in the first document submitted with all of the facts, the evidence and the case law relied on. In matrimonial matters in particular the English petition submitted is a box ticking exercise with requirements for evidence later in the proceedings. In Spain in the first document submitted you have to provide the evidence you rely on and fully argue the case if it is contentious. What are the major differences between the two jurisdictions in criminal matters? In the Spanish criminal law system the Judge is an investigating Judge with powers to call for evidence, to question witnesses and to decide what information can and cannot be released to the parties at the preliminary stage of the proceedings – ‘Diligencias Previas’. In the English system it is the role of the adversarial counsel to question witnesses and provide evidence with the Judge having a role in testing that evidence and asking additional questions but not investigating matters that are not brought before him or her by the prosecution and defence. Are there court costs in both countries? Up to December 2012 in Spain there were no costs in civil proceedings or matrimonial proceedings that were payable directly to the court. The only costs charged in the courts were payable if a company with a turnover of more than 8 millions of Euros was bringing the claim. However the current government has brought in court costs as part of the new financial measures. There is a delay in enacting this as the tax office have not yet advised of the Models or returns that need to be entered but to give an approximate idea below are two examples of typical charges. For a civil claim of 50.000€ for example the court fee would be 300€ + 0,5% of the total value of the claim (50,000€ in this case, so an additional 250€, making the total cost 550€. The cost of a subsequent Appeal would be 800€. For a divorce petition for example, the cost would be 150€ + 0,5% of the total value of the claim; with the cost of appeal also 800€.

In England there have always been court fees payable on submitting claims in civil and family proceedings though for family proceedings these have not been very costly. Can you act in person in Spain or the UK or do you have to be legally represented? In the UK it is possible to represent yourself in family and civil proceedings. In English family proceedings and with the reduction in the number of firms who provide legal aid this has become more common. You can also commence civil action and defend a civil action. In criminal proceedings you are appointed a lawyer if you do not have one. In Spain not only can you not act in person but you also have to name a court procurator as well as an abogado or lawyer in all proceedings except for minor criminal allegations. The procurator is responsible for notifying the parties of decisions and orders of the court. The 58-year-old did a pretty good job of embalming himself. According to toxicology reports, his blood alcohol level was 0.47%.

Honouring those who improve the species... by accidently removing themselves from it! or almost!

The Enema Within 2007 Darwin Award WINNER Confirmed True by Darwin (21 May 2004, Texas) Michael was an alcoholic. And not an ordinary alcoholic, but an alcoholic who liked to take his liquor, well, rectally. His wife said he was "addicted to enemas" and often used alcohol in this manner. The result was the same: inebriation. The machine shop owner couldn't imbibe alcohol by mouth due to a painful throat ailment, so he elected to receive his favourite beverage via enema. And tonight, Michael was in for one hell of a party. Two 1.5 litre bottles of sherry, more than 100 fluid ounces, right up the old address! When the rest of us have had enough, we either stop drinking or pass out. When Michael had had enough (and subsequently passed out) the alcohol remaining in his rectal cavity continued to be absorbed. The next morning, Michael was dead.

In order to qualify for a Darwin Award, a person must remove himself from the gene pool via an "astounding misapplication of judgment." Three litres of sherry up the butt can only be described as astounding. Unsurprisingly, his neighbors said they were surprised to learn of the incident.

Explosive high wire act 2013 Darwin Award Nominee Confirmed True by Darwin (you tube) A Chilean man has been electrocuted after climbing an electricity pylon while affected by drugs. Amatuer video captured the tragedy as the man, named only as Miguel, swung on to a high-voltage cable. Firefighters tried to coax him down as he swung back and forth. It appears that the man's legs touched one of the cables, killing him instantly and causing a massive explosion. Rescue authorities were called to the area of Lo Prado in the Chilean capital by nearby residents when they spotted Miguel climing the tower. Residents say is is not the first time Miguel climbed the tower. The explosion set fire to two houses and cut power to about 500 homes.

Its That time again The pine processionary caterpillar is the best known of all the processionaries. The insect is found in the warmer regions of southern Europe, the Near East, and North Africa. It is the habit of the caterpillars to move over the ground in long head-to-tail processions and to sting, with urticating hairs, anyone who attempts to touch them. This has brought these dangerous caterpillars to the attention of the public. It is also one of the most destructive of forest insects, capable of defoliating vast tracts of pines during its population surges. Sibling groups stay together throughout the larvae stage, often pupating side by side. The insect is active only during the colder times of the year, spending the warm summer months as a pupa buried in the ground. The moths begin to emerge from the soil in August and shortly thereafter mate and seek out pine trees where they place their eggs. Each female produces a single egg mass which it fastens to a needle of a suitable host trees. Egg masses contain up to 300 or so eggs and the caterpillars typically emerge from them four or more weeks after they are laid. The eggs are completely covered with scales that detach from the abdomen of the female. Despite their small size, the newly hatched caterpillars have remarkably strong mandibles and are able to penetrate the tough needles of the host from the start. Shelter Building The caterpillars are highly social. At first they are nomadic, spinning and abandoning a series of flimsy shelters constructed by enveloping a few needlesin silk but eventually they initiate the Construction of a permanent nest and settle down to become central place foragers. There are no definitive openings in the shelter that allow the caterpillars to enter and exit.Rather,The caterpillars force their way through the layers of the shelter as they move in and out. The frass that is produced as the caterpillars process their meals accumulates at the bottom of the shelter. Midwinter Foraging and Thermoregulation Colonies are active throughout the winter months, the caterpillars leave their nests soon after sunset

and travel to distant feeding sites located on the branches of the host tree. Here they feed overnight then return to the nest at dawn. In mid-winter the caterpillars forage on the coldest of nights and are able to travel, albeit very slowly, at sub-zero temperatures. The permanent nests are typically sited to to be warmed by sunlight. The caterpillars rest in the nest during the day and the elevated body temperatures they experience due to heating of the nest by the sun helps to efficiently digest the food they collect overnight. By March the caterpillars are fully grown. At this time the leave their nest, following each other in long, head to tail processionsand seek out pupation sites in the soil. Trail Marking and Processionary Behavior The caterpillars lay down a trail pheromone as they advance over the branches of the host tree. The caterpillars mark when the tips of their abdomens brush against the substrate. Although the caterpillars also secrete silk and mark their pathways with the material, silk serves to increase steadfastness on the smooth plant surfaces. Caterpillars can distinguish old from new trails. The caterpillars also differentiate between trails made by different numbers of caterpillars and follow preferentially those marked by the most caterpillars. Trail marking enables the caterpillars to aggregate at feeding sites and allows them to find their way back to nest after feeding. When they move over the branches, the caterpillars may move head to tail in small groups or they may move completely independently of others. In either case, they rely on the trail marker to find their way. While the caterpillars may form single file processions as the advance over the branches of the host tree in search of food, the most spectacular processions are formed when the caterpillars are fully grown and abandon the host tree in search of pupation sites. Over-the-ground processions of as many as three hundred caterpillars have been observed. The caterpillars may travel long distances from the natal tree looking for soft soil in which they bury themselves and form their cocoons. WARNING ‘TOXIC’- Anti-Predator Defense These caterpillars are highly dangerous. Contact with the hairs causes skin rashes and eye irritations even when it is dead. The hairs can be carried in the air so can cause respiratory problems. Susceptible individuals may also develop an allergic response to a protein associated with the hairs of the caterpillar. Causing Urticaria (severe swelling and itching) Localized pain and in the old and young possible anaphylactic shock which can be fatal. Cats & dogs are also at risk of death if they come into contact with them immediate Vetinary treatment is essential.

Capricorn 22nd December - 20th January. 7 of Pentacles Now you know everything is going to work out just fine, stop stressing. You have worked hard, planted the seeds, watered, weeded and made sure everything was taken care of just so. Relax already, be a little more patient and things will begin to turn out just as you planned. You might even have something left over to share with those close to you. Aquarius 21st January - 18th February. The Emporer This month is all about manifesting and building firm foundations to grow from. You have come so far and dealt with a lot over the past few months, now is a time of overcoming obstacles and using the solid and positive energies around you to achieve the things you have been working so hard for. Do not let anyone tell you that you can’t or let you be distracted from your success. Be well and above all be happy. Pisces 19th February - 20th March,8 of Cups Sometimes we get to a certain point and we have to realize (real –eyes) that things are not exactly as we thought. Sometimes things are really very different and we must step back and re-access the situation. It feels like this month may be a turning point for you. You may find yourself letting go and moving forward on your journey, even if you do not feel you have completed all you could, you somehow realize that there really is no need to do anymore. It’s time to spend your efforts on something else or someone else that will appreciate you and not just be used to you taking care of things.

Aries 21st March - 20th April 3-of-swords. I’m sorry to say that this month may be a little emotionally overwhelming. You might have set something into motion by accident, never really expecting that the energies would run so deep. This might be a good time to apologize, re-think some of your words and actions and try to get things back to a more normal sense of being.

Taurus 21st April - 21st May 5 of Swords, My one sentence for this card is “don’t worry the truth is going to come out” I feel that this will bring about a victory or a sort of justice is served feeling for you dear Taurus. Steer clear of gossip and bad behaviors, and you will soon see the real picture emerging. I think this can be a pivotal month for you. Remember not all are as loyal as you are

Gemini 22nd May - 20th June 6 of Pentacles Even though the Mercury retrograde will be in Pisces, remember it is your ruling planet and you may suffer some side effects. Pay close attention to your words, in conversations and in email or text. If you don’t apply caution others may take things the wrong way and create a lot of drama for you. You might even find that you step back from a close friend, feeling like you are just not able to cope with their negative energy.

Cancer 21st June - 20th July, Strength You have worked hard over the past few months to make your house a home and offer strength and comfort to others. Now is the time to re-group and work to pay attention to your own needs. If funds allow please go out and have a good time, relax or go shopping for something just for you. Do remember though that if you are making a larger purchase such as a car or computer, please do it well before the 23rd

Leo 21st July - August 20th, Knight of Cups, I guess communication will be the key to your success. I see you spreading the word and making really good use of your abilities to get your point across. I see this dude as Hermes the messenger, but remember you don’t want to be shot. So, be assertive, yet kind with what ever you are tasked to tell. This should be a good month for business, or clearing up old unfinished things that have been lingering.

Virgo 24th August - 22nd September The Magician A much-needed time of mastering your domain has arrived. I see there is finally a chance for balance, a balance in many things in your life. Somehow your commitments will shift round and you will have time for all the things you need and want to be involved in. I sense a deep sigh of relief to know you are not letting anyone down including yourself. Some of your choices won’t be easy ones to make, but please understand you always intend to make changes for the highest good, no harm done. Now is the time to get crackin’. Libra 23rd September - 22nd October . 9 of Swords There is a deep sense of finding out someone has let you down. I know this is difficult for you, you are very conscious of your commitments and when you give your word you mean it. It’s sad to say but not all people operate from this same standard. You might have to search your inner feelings and ask yourself if you really want to try and hold on to this person, or if you are really finally ready to let them go. Take a deep breath and do what you know to be right. Scorpio 23rd October - 22nd November. 2 of Swords Ok enough waiting for the right moment to make your move. This month will bring loads of great opportunities and you should work to make the most of them. You know you have been feeling a bit held back by others, well now is the time to break loose and make some much-needed changes. With the right finesse you could make a very positive difference in your living arrangements. If you look at it you may see some of your responsibilities have shifted and you can spend more time doing things that you love.

Sagittarius 23rd November - 22nd December. The Star No matter how bad you think it is, there is always hope. Allow yourself to let go and move forward. Sometimes you just have to face the facts and realize that no matter how much you try you can’t always shift things. Now may be a good time to let go, I’m not saying give up, I would never say that to a Sag, I’m just saying the current route is not working out. Make the needed changes to get you firmly on another track.

How children perceive their Grandparents...... 1.She was in the bathroom, putting on her makeup, under the watchful eyes of her young granddaughter, as she'd done many times before. After she applied her lipstick and started to leave, the little one said, "But Grandma, you forgot to kiss the toilet paper good-bye!"

2. My young grandson called the other day to wish me Happy Birthday. He asked me how old I was, and I told him, 80. My grandson was quiet for a moment, and then he asked, "Did you start at 1?"

3. After putting her grandchildren to bed, a grandmother changed into old slacks and a droopy blouse and proceeded to wash her hair. As she heard the grandchildren getting

more and more rambunctious, her patience grew thin. Finally, she threw a towel around her head and stormed into their room, putting them back to bed with stern warnings. As she left the room, she heard the three-year-old say with a trembling voice, "Who was THAT?"

4. A grandmother was telling her little granddaughter what her own childhood was like. "We used to skate outside on a pond. I had a swing made from a tire; it hung from a tree in our front yard. We rode our pony. We picked wild raspberries in the woods." The little girl was wide-eyed, taking this all in. At last she said, "I sure wish I'd gotten to know you sooner!" 5. My grandson was visiting one day when

he asked, "Grandma, do you know how you and God are alike?" I mentally polished my halo and I said, "No, how are we alike?'' "You're both old," he replied.

6. A little girl was diligently pounding away on her grandfather's word processor. She told him she was writing a story. "What's it about?" he asked. "I don't know," she replied. "I can't read."

7. I didn't know if my granddaughter had learned her colors yet, so I decided to test her. I would point out something and ask what color it was. She would tell me and was always correct. It was fun for me, so I continued. At last, she headed for the door, saying, "Grandma, I think you should try to figure out some of these colours yourself!"

8. When my grandson Billy and I entered our vacation cabin, we kept the lights off until we were inside to keep from attracting pesky insects. Still, a few fireflies followed us in. Noticing them before I did, Billy whispered, "It's no use Grandpa. Now the mosquitoes

are coming after us with flashlights."

9. When my grandson asked me how old I was, I teasingly replied, "I'm not sure." "Look in your underwear, Grandpa," he advised "Mine says I'm 4 to 6."

10.. A second grader came home from school and said to her grandmother, "Grandma, guess what? We learned how to make babies today." The grandmother, more than a little surprised, tried to keep her cool. "That's interesting." she said... "How do you make babies?" "It's simple," replied the girl. "You just change 'y' to 'i' and add 'es'."

11. A 6-year-old was asked where his grandma lived. "Oh," he said, "she lives at the airport, and when we want her, we just go get her. Then, when we're done having her visit, we take her back to the airport."

12. My Grandparents are funny, when they bend over, you hear gas leaks and they blame their dog.
