The Crime wont stick: Bonnie Jonas-Boggioni, 65, of Plano, Texas, was heading home from her mother's funeral in Ohio when she was pulled over by not one, but two police cars near Memphis, Tenn. "Knowing I wasn't speeding, I couldn't imagine why," the Ohio native said. "What are you doing with a marijuana sticker on your bumper?" one of the officers asked. Shocked, Jonas-Boggioni explained that the sticker didn't depict a seven-leaf marijuana plant, as the officer supposed, but rather the five-leaf Buckeye plant: the Buckeye Leaf has been the symbol of the Ohio State football team the Buckeyes since 1967. "He looked at me like I was speaking a foreign language," she said. Her husband pointed to his shirt, commemorating the team's 2002 nationalchampionship season, which also sports a
Buckeye leaf. The officer explained another officer had reported the car, and figured the sticker meant the car was carrying drugs. "It's just amazing they would be that dumb," Jonas-Boggioni said, noting she was "too rattled" to have noted what department the officers were from. METHOD Pulse the vegetables and herbs in a food processor until finely chopped Add the minced turkey and the pepper Shape into 2 burgers, chill for 20 minutes, Spray 1 cal into a frying pan, fresh each side of the burger for 2 minutes, finish in the oven at 180 deg C for a further 8-10 minutes. Serve with a crisp green salad.

Alcaucín is situated on the western slopes of La Maroma at the entrance to the Natural Park of the Sierras de Tejeda, close to the spectacular Zafarraya gap, where you can step out of Malaga and into Granada province! The approximate translation of Al Cautín, now Alcaucin is “the Arches” possibly named because of the aqueduct! At an altitude of 510 metres the village is approached either by driving up from Puente Don Manuel , across the valley through Venta Baja, or down from Zafarraya through Espino where the views are absolutely stunning, with the lower green mountains covered in pine trees, almond groves, vineyards and orchards, gradually rising up towards the rugged Boquete de Zafarraya which is often shrouded in cloud and the Colmenar ridge.
The village itself is typical of the area with narrow winding streets, whitewashed, sugar cube, stone houses and interior courtyards brimming with beautifully coloured flowers. On entering the village one of the first points of interest is the fountain with five jets of fresh mountain water inviting you to stoop down and drink!
Village life centres around the pretty town square now renamed the Plaza de la Constitución with its 18th Century Parish Church of Nuestra Señora del Rosario and theTown Hall. The earthquake on Christmas day in 1884 badly affected this village with loss of life as well as the destruction of property, roads and trails and the alteration of subterranean streams and if that wasn´t enough there was heavy snowfall that year preventing much needed help and assistance to the villagers.
There are several bars and restaurants which serve both local and international cuisine and from the terrace of Azafran Oasis (open Thursday through Sunday) you can admire the views of Lake Viñuela. The eight areas that make up this municipality are Puente Don Manuel, Los Morales, Los Cortijillos, Las Monjas, Venta Baja, Venta Alta, El Pilarejo and El Espino. When you have finished your tour of the village you can walk back down the Paseo de las Barriadas and take your pick of any one of the decoratively tiled benches, which bear the names of these areas, to rest a while . If strolling through the village hasn´t been exercise enough then why not take the challenge of reaching the highest point of the Axarquía by climbing to the top of La Maroma! The Byblos 2012: Hot Hot Hot summer in Spain, 2011 the ‘other’ half and I were doing a house sit in the Spanish countryside; consequently there was plenty of time to read the local English newspapers. It was with interest that I read an article about the Byblos, once an amazing Spanish hotel hosting such celebrities as Princess Diana and other famous people; now it seemed the hotel had fallen on hard times and finally auctioned off to the highest bidder , consequently the ‘Byblos’ had been sold to ‘Lord Alan Sugar’ The article went on to explain that Alan was losing patience, it had been three years since that purchase had taken place, court proceedings and appeals by the former owners meant nothing was happening! Now Lord Alan Sugar does not strike me as a patient man...... Although I had never heard of the ‘Byblos’ and had absolutely no idea where it was I had heard of Lord Alan Sugar so imagine my complete surprise when exactly one year later I found myself living in a Spanish house facing the Byblos hotel! Co-incidence or God-incidence? God has placed the Byblos on my heart. Re opening the hotel would benefit Mijas enormously and create much needed jobs for the community and beyond. I imagine Lord Alan Sugar is not a patient man; an ex employee at the auction was quoted as asking ‘When can we have our jobs back’ and Lord Alan Sugar was quoted as saying “In a couple of weeks” Three years later and Alan Sugar cannot be a ‘happy bunny’. Lord Alan Sugar is a person of action with a capital ‘A’ I can only imagine his frustration with this situation; he has plans to create jobs! Plans to help people get back to work! Plans to make a success of the Byblos and bring it back to life. Let’s all get behind Lord Alan Sugar with our prayers, let us not sit back while we wait for something to happen while a once beautiful hotel goes to rack and ruin!!, as Christians......’Let’s help make something happen’ God use’s people to bring about his purposes in our world; people who have passion, enthusiasm, commitment, get the picture? In the Book of Nehemiah we read the story of the re- building of the walls around Jerusalem; Nehemiah was so distraught concerning his ‘Home town’ when he heard the walls were broken and falling down, he wept fasted and prayed, then the king he served, on seeing his distress gave him
permission to take leave, go back home and help repair the city walls, he had the help and backing of the king of his day; God answered Nehemiah’s prayers, he softened a kings heart to achieve his plans and purpose, and so I believe the distress prayers and fasting of the Spanish people have reached the ears God. He is using another man of ‘influence’ to achieve his plans today. Jesus said when you ask for something in prayer you must believe that you receive that which you ask for. It is difficult to believe that a month has passed since the last newsletter from the Theatre. I hope the nice New Year's Resolutions are still going strong but there is always chocolate to derail us. The theatre has started the New Year well. We began with the Panto which I must confess I didn't see -beaches in the Canaries being a distraction but I heard mostly very good things about it and it did well at the box office. In these difficult times that is very important and it does show that audiences are voting with their purses for our shows. This was followed by The Rat Pack and The Entertainers, both of which I did see and both of which I thoroughly enjoyed. Then came 'It Runs In The Family'. I can't say much about that but I am told there was one turn in the second Act that was particularly good!! Really though, David Vincent did a magnificent job in directing the play and playing the lead. It was a nice show to work on and I think demonstrates that if you can assemble a good cast the audience can have a good time. So financially things are looking up. We still operate on the margins but the future of the theatre seems secure for a good while yet. All we need is to keep the standards up, and there is some good stuff coming. This includes -way into the future - the
return of Calendar Girls, and I am proud to announce that the last production resulted in a donation of 325 pounds to blood cancer research. It was a good match to watch as it was quite a close game for the first half, but by the 16th end the score was 1610. At the last end with a round of applause for both teams, Rob’s team won. It had been a long day for both teams with two games to play. The Pairs have been quite a good group to see as there have been some wonderful games that ended with very slim margins by one wood on the last end. In the final on a very windy day, it was Kevin and John against Alan and Chris. This was good to watch as it was quite windy, by the 11th end they were more or less equal but Kevin and John advanced to 23points, Alan and John 17 points by the 18th end. So Kevin and John are the doubles champions. The ladies singles saw some good matches but the final was between Ann Fenton and Pauline Ball. This was a lovely game and they were equal at half way. Then Pauline took the lead and Ann could not catch her. Pauline is our new lady Champion, well done for both ladies. In The Men’s single’s competition Frank Ball played Don Smith. In this match Don led from the start and Frank could not catch him, well done Don The Handicap Singles will be played a little later this month as time was short and it could not be fitted in on time. The best way of keeping the shine is to have regular trims of the split ends coupled by oil or serum treatments before blow-drying. When blowdrying do not blast the hair , using a natural good quality brush to gently smooth out the tangles, take time when drying so as to not over dry the hair. Avoid metal combs and brushes as they can get hot and damage the hair. Finish by applying a serum spray to enhance that shine after drying.

Find an "ointment" moisturiser that's oil-based, rather than water-based, as the oil will create a protective layer on the skin that retains more moisture than a cream or lotion. (Hint: Many lotions labelled as "night creams" are oil-based.) But choose your oils with care because not all oils are appropriate for the face. I use a spray tan but always end up looking streaky? Inheritance News from De Cotta Law Intestacy – dying without a valid will By De Cotta Law Valid wills The Spanish notarial system provides more security for those who make a valid will. This is because there is a Central Wills Registry where each notarial will is registered by the notary. The original will is always kept on the Protocol (archive) of the notary where you sign the will. The information at the Central Wills Registry will be the date and place where you made the will; your full name and date of birth and the names of your parents will assist with identifying you. A valid English will must be witnessed by two witnesses who are physically present when you sign. These witnesses should not stand to benefit from your will or be family members. However although wills can be registered in England there is no obligation to do so and most wills are kept at home or with the local solicitor in England who prepared them for you. Leaving Spanish assets in a will It is always advisable to execute a valid Spanish will before a notary if you own Spanish assets. The reason this is important is that property does not generally pass to your surviving spouse automatically in Spain. In the UK you can generally notify the Land Registry, the banks etc to transfer property into your sole name and in some cases where the estate is not of a high value no other formalities are required. If they are an application can be made for Letters of administration on intestacy. This is very different in Spain as the property passes independently to your appointed heirs and there is a procedure required to prove who should receive. Spanish law applies the law of your nationality to your estate. Therefore if you die leaving Spanish assets and have not made a valid will in either country your heirs need to prove firstly the law that should be applied on intestacy and secondly that they are entitled to inherit.
This applies to your spouse even though you may be joint owners of the assets. For some time we have been advising British nationals in Spain that it is wise to state the law you wish to be applied to your estate. While it would be difficult to overturn the application of your national law to your estate in wills made with this clause there will be added certainty in 2014. This is when the European legislation changes to state that you can elect the law to be applied to your succession and that this will be binding. The important thing to remember is that prevention is not only better than cure in this situation it is also less costly than cure.

Gary was at a friend's apartment when he spotted a salsa jar containing a mystery fluid. Thinking that it was an alcoholic beverage, he helped himself to a sizeable swig of gasoline! A man and woman, both 24, were transported to Parkland Memorial Hospital after the explosion. According to WFAAChannel 8, the woman was on life support, while the man has burns on his face, arms and chest.The explosion occurred just before 3 a.m. Firefighters responded to the scene and used foam blankets to prevent the three remaining oil storage units from catching fire, The man and woman have not been identified and are not believed to be employees of the company that owns the units.
