Blind Mans Bluff: Gordon Besaw and his guide dog, Derby, were walking to a bus stop in Oklahoma City, Okla. "And that's when the guy approached me," Besaw said. "And he asked me, 'Are you blind?' I said, 'Yes.' He said, 'I can make you see before you see God.'" The man then told Besaw to take off his glasses, but when Besaw tried walking away, the man allegedly started punching him in the face. "He said, 'I can make you see again,' and he punched me in the head again, and I'm like, 'Man, you're not going to like the way this is going to go'," Besaw said. Besaw, a former U.S. Army Special Forces member, defended himself: "I hip-tossed him, letting go of the
leash. When I hit the ground on top of him, I told my dog to stay, and I began to choke him." When police arrived, they found Besaw on top of Christopher Andrew, 27, who they arrested for aggravated assault and battery. "I just want the guy to leave me alone and get help," Besaw said. (MS/KOCO Oklahoma City, KJRH Tulsa) ...Hopefully, he'll eventually see the light Reduced School fees: When a mother stopped at the Worongary State School in Queensland, Australia, to pick up her 5-year-old son, she was horrified to learn the staff couldn't find him. After a search of the school and nearby streets didn't yield the boy, the woman, who asked to remain anonymous, called police. They determined that the boy had wandered off , and had traveled well over a mile away, and was walking along a busy street. He was found by a driver who thought it was odd that a boy that young was out alone, and called police. Once the boy was brought back to his mother, the Helping Hands Network, which runs the prep school, called her to say they'd take A$7 (US$6.75) off the bill for the boy's school fees. (RC/Gold Coast Bulletin) ...Ridiculous! Most kids are worth at least twice that much. The Future is Dumb,,, m8 In 2010, the National Governors Association set new standards for school curriculum, and 45 states adopted the new standards. They call for proficiency in computer keyboarding by the fourth grade, but something was dropped to make room for that: penmanship. Supporters say retina scans or fingerprints will replace signatures, so why do kids need to learn how to do cursive? So far, most schools are still teaching it in the third grade, but only for about 15 minutes of instruction per day, down from 30-45 minutes in the previous generation. And that number is expected to drop with the new guidelines. "If kids aren't taught how to write it, they won't be able to read it," says Indiana State Sen. Jean Leising. "So, in a sense, we'll be creating a new kind of illiteracy." Thus, she's sponsored a bill mandating that students in her state learn penmanship. (RC/Oneonta, N.Y., Daily Star) ...So they can write "Dont U h8 the dum principle?" neatly enough for everyone to read.

Be smart: don’t let passport stings ruin your summer Last year, some 27,000 Brits reported their passports missing while they were abroad. It’s an astonishing figure, and it suggests a worrying level of complacency about a document that is, after all, the ultimate ‘proof’ that you are who say you are. Having your cash, smartphone or other valuables stolen is distressing. But losing your passport can be far more of an ordeal in terms of lost holiday time, unravelled travel plans or even having to mothball your trip... to say nothing of wondering what criminals might be getting up to in your name. In other words, there really is no simpler way to ruin a holiday than being parted from your passport. And targeted passport theft is on the rise, as organised criminals cash in the easy pickings and lucrative returns of identity trafficking.
At Globelink Travel Insurance, we’re there to help when you need it; we’ll help cover the cost of stolen money, passport replacement or extra nights’ overseas accommodation. But bear in mind that a travel insurance policy will not pay the cost of a trip that you’re unable to make because you no longer have a passport or visa, as in this unfortunate case:
“While my husband was fetching coffee, a woman approached me to ask something about departures. It never entered my head that it was just a distraction, but when when I looked I saw the passports had gone. We reported the theft to airport police and then made extensive inquiries about getting emergency passports, before learning that Burma doesn’t recognise them.“In the end we had no choice but to give up and go home. ” Stings vary, but they generally involve questions, offers of help, or accidental jostling followed by profuse apologies ... anything, in short, that distracts your attention while the thief gets busy. Increasingly, gangs operate at departure points such as airport bus stops and waiting areas, where holiday travellers are relaxed and conspicuous. So be vigilant, even on familiar journeys.
It goes without saying, but all insurers expect you to take ‘reasonable care’ of your valuables. Leaving your passport around the hotel room is asking for trouble (and we don’t recommend tucking it under the mattress either!) If you don’t have access to a safety deposit box, keep your passport discreet and close, preferably in a waist belt. And do resist the temptation to go for a splash in the briny with an eye half-cocked on your valuables. We advise people to keep a copy of the photo page of your passport when travelling. No one is immune to passport stings, but if you do get stung, it could help speed up the process of replacing your passport. Stay safe, and enjoy your travels. Malta part 2 Greeks, Phoenicians and Romans Phoenician (Lebonese) traders, who used the islands as a stop on their trade routes from the eastern Mediterranean to Cornwall, joined the natives on the island. After the fall of Phoenicia, in 400 BC the area came under the control of Carthage, a former Phoenician colony. During this time the people on Malta mainly cultivated olives and carobs, and produced textiles. During the First Punic War of 264 BC, tensions led the Maltese people to rebel against Carthage and turn control of their garrison over to the Romans By 117 AD, the Maltese Islands were a thriving part of the Roman Empire, under Hadrian. When the Roman Empire split into Eastern and Western divisions in the 4th century, Malta fell under the control of the Greek speaking Byzantine Empire from 395 to 870,which ruled from Constantinople. Although Malta was under Byzantine rule for four centuries, not much is
known from this period. There is evidence that Germanic tribes, including the Goths and Vandals, briefly took control of the islands before the Byzantines launched a counterattack and took Malta. The Arab period and the Middle Ages Malta became involved in the Arab–Byzantine Wars, and the conquest of Malta is closely linked with that of Sicily that began in 827 after admiral Euphemius' betrayal of his fellow Byzantines, requesting that the Aghlabid dynasty invade the island. The Arab invaders, looted and pillaged the island, leaving it practically uninhabited until it was recolonised by the Arabs from Sicily in 1048–1049 AD. The Arabs introduced new irrigation, some fruits and cotton and the Siculo-Arabic language was adopted on the island from Sicily: it would eventually evolve into the Maltese language.
The Norman period was productive; Malta became part of the newly formed Kingdom of Sicily The Catholic Church was reinstated as the state religion and some Norman architecture sprung up especially in its ancient capital Mdina. Tancred of Sicily, the last Norman monarch, made Malta a feudal lordship within the kingdom and installed a Count of Malta.
As the islands were much desired due to their strategic importance, it was during this time the men of Malta were militarised to fend off capture attempts; the early counts were skilled Genoese corsairs. The kingdom passed on to the House of Hohenstaufen from 1194 until 1266. During this period, when Frederick II began to reorganise his Sicilian kingdom, Western culture and religion began to exert their influence more intensely. Malta formed part of the Holy Roman Empire of the German Nation for 72 years. Malta was declared a county and a marquisate, but its trade was totally ruined. For a long time it remained solely a fortified garrison. It was in 1224 under Frederick II that all remaining Muslims (who were not Moors) were expelled from Malta or impelled to convert. A large revolt on Sicily known as the Sicilian Vespers followed these attacks, that saw the Peninsula separating into the Kingdom of Naples. Malta fell under the rule of the Aragonese in 1282. The kings of Aragon ruled the island until 1409, when it passed to the Crown of
Aragon. The sons of the monarchy received the title, "Count of Malta". During this time much of the local nobility was created. However by 1397 the bearing of the title "Count of Malta" reverted to a feudal basis with two families fighting over the distinction. So the king abolished the title. Dispute over the title returned when the title was reinstated a few years later and the Maltese, led by the nobility, rose up against Count Gonsalvo Monroy. Although they opposed the Count, the Maltese voiced their loyalty to the Sicilian Crown, which so impressed Alfonso IV that he did not punish the people but promised never to grant the title to a third party, instead incorporating it back into the crown. In 1530 Emperor Charles V gave the islands to the Knights Hospitaller under the leadership of Frenchman Philippe de Villiers de L'Isle-Adam, Grand Master of the Order, in perpetual lease for which they had to pay the Tribute of the Maltese Falcon. These knights, a military religious order now known as the Knights of Malta, had been driven out of Rhodes by the Ottoman Empire in 1522 (Contd.... next month)

This is a great recipe for a quick lunch, as nobody wants to spend too much time in the kitchen when it´s hot outside. If you are worried about bones in the fish, choose the tail end cut of salmon, as it is boneless. You can buy the orange flower water in the little Moroccan supermarkets, if you can,t get it just use orange juice instead, or even lemon juice. Couscous Crusted Salmon with Moroccan Date, Almond and carrot salad.
Ingredients 2 salmon fillets, skin on 6tbsp couscous ground cumin Pinch ground coriander pinch ground cinnamon ½ fresh red chilli, finely chopped 2 tbsp coriander finely chopped 1 tbsp parsley, finely chopped 1 tbsp black - olives, stoned and cut in half (optional) salt and crushed black pepper extra virgin olive oil Preparation method 1. Prepare the couscous as per packet instructions. Add the cumin, cinnamon, chilli, herbs, seasoning and olives (if using). Stir well. 2. Add enough olive oil to bring together the ingredients to form a thick paste. 3. Sear the salmon quickly in a little oil on both sides. Remove and place on an oven tray. Top with the crust and grill for 4 to 5 minutes to cook and colour (or bake in a hot oven 220C/425F/Gas 7 for 6- 8 minutes). 4. Remove and serve on a bed of grated carrot, date and toasted almond salad, sprinkle with a dressing made with olive oil, a dash of orange flower water .
Enjoy
Algarrobo, named after the Carob Tree, is also one of the villages visited on the route of Sun and Wine. Natives of the town are called Algarrobeños. You have to be careful when arranging to meet someone there. You must specify whether you mean Algarrobo Costa or Algarrobo Pueblo as you could end up waiting 3 klms in the wrong location! The Costa has a lovely promenade with bars and restaurants and many foreign residents can be seen cycling or power walking with their Nordic walking poles whilst fisherman bring their boats back to rest on the sand after an early morning fishing spree. Two different worlds rubbing along quietly together. As you drive into the Pueblo you can admire the new fountain on a circle of grass. There are plenty of parking spaces along the side and top end of the leafy park with is Jacaranda trees and Palms. There is a large m u n i c i p a l swimming pool (open July to August, if you feel like a dip!) If you want a peaceful walk then make sure you don´t go at lunchtime when the village sounds like a race circuit as the residents come home from work with their tyres screeching on the hot tarmac. As the streets are not much wider than the cars you will spend most of your time ducking into doorways to avoid getting squashed! The winding streets become quite steep in places and little dogs will usually escort you as you continue on your way.
Many of houses have beautiful plants and flowers in their doorways and balconies and the streets are bedecked with a panoply of colour. Seek out the nearby bakery, Carmen Lupiañez (Calle Blas Infanta) famous for its Tortas de Algarroba, made with Carob, Almond and Lemon Peel. The Rio Algarrobo p a s s e s through the village and after a wet winter the sound of running water refreshes the soul. Like many Axarquia villages this one has prehistoric origins with historical evidence of human settlements from the Bronze Age. The main attraction is the parish church of Santa Ana with its bell tower, built in the 17th century but originally dating back to 1505 and in the municipal boundary are two watchtowers Torreladeada from the Islamic era and Torrenueva, a 16th century military fort. Interesting times to visit the pueblo are the patron saint´s feria on 20th January which begins with a procession from the chapel of San Sebastian to the parish church. During the second half of August when they hold the flamenco festival or at the beginning of September for the traditional bonfires and harvesting. After the grape treading the Verdiales de Algarrobo are danced in country houses where the musical instruments used are castanets, guitar and mortar and percussion using an empty anisette bottle. Algarrobo is situated 37 kilometres from Málaga
Sunday 02 June 2013 My breast are 3 sizes bigger Pregnant Kim Kardashian has revealed that she's gone up several bra sizes since conceiving. The reality TV star, who's expecting her first baby with boyfriend Kanye West in July, has seen her boobs get much bigger during her pregnancy. ‘Oh yes - [my bra size has gone up] at least three sizes,' Kim, 32, tells The Times Magazine. ‘I'm normally like a 36, 38, and now I'm like a 42, 44.' Kim, who's faced a lot of criticism over her style since being pregnant, recently admitted that she's not as keen on getting her boobs out as she used to be. ‘I think there are different versions of sexy,' she tells Now.'To me, now, it's not showing everything like it once was, when I felt I wanted to wear the skintight short dress with boobs out. 'Now I don't feel like that's what it takes to be sexy. Who Next? Matt Smith is quitting Doctor Who after 4 years travelling through time with his sonic screwdriver. ‘When you gotta go, you've gotta go,' says Matt, 30. ‘Doctor Who has been the most brilliant experience for me as an actor and a bloke, and that largely is down to the cast, crew and fans. ‘The fans are unlike any other; they dress up, shout louder, know more about the history of the show - and speculate more about the future of the show - in a way that I have never seen before, [their] dedication is truly remarkable.' Jenna-Louise Coleman, who plays Doctor Who's cute assistant Clara Oswald, will not be leaving and has signed for 2014. The former Emmerdale star is hoping she will have the same rapport with whoever replaces Matt.‘‘I felt a bit of the chemistry from the very first audition we did together,' Jenna-Louise, 26, tells TV Magazine.
‘I actually walked away feeling like I'd been knocked off my feet. It was a bit of a hurricane. What was lovely was that Matt made me feel like he was auditioning with me - it was like show and tell. ‘The producers left the room so me and Matt could run around and play. I was really thrilled and excited. He really makes me laugh as the Doctor. ‘Matt's constantly exploring things to play with which makes him a brilliant Doctor - but when you're the person who's trying to keep a straight face, it's very hard.' Matt has now started filming How To Catch A Monster, directed by Ryan Gosling, but will appear in the 50th anniversary Doctor Who special in November and the Christmas Day show. A worker found the footage in a Calgary dump on Wednesday and, thinking he had stumbled across evidence of a crime, handed it over to the police. The man didn’t recognise the Ghostbusters star but once detectives cleaned up the negatives they realised it was a movie clip. A Tribute to Doug Harris: (Director: Reach Out Trust and Revelation TV) 11th April 1947 – 17th May 2013 Ecclesiastes Chapter 3 Verse 1: “There is a time for everything; and a season for every activity under Heaven:” That was certainly true with Doug Harris. God brought Doug to Revelation TV studios just at the right time, for a season, to do a special work for the Lord. Management and staff had been ‘Praying’ for a sincere man of God to help them to fulfil the vision God had planted in their hearts. The Bible tells us, ‘the prayers of a righteous person avail much’, James: C 5 –V16, and so their prayers were answered: Doug Harris. Revelation TV had been growing, literally going from strength to strength. However this growth had resulted in a massive increase in administration as letters and cheques poured into the office, (not to mention the telephone ringing night and day!); management were literally overwhelmed. As a succession of lovely volunteers began to join the growing team professionalism and organisation were desperately needed. Doug Harris was professional, disciplined, organised, and inspirational, also dedicated to the task set before him. In no time at all (or so it seemed) Doug had the office working like a well oiled machine. Doug worked amazingly hard and he even enlisted the help of his wife Noemi as a volunteer. If you emailed Doug you could be sure of a reply within an hour!! Efficient, you knew if you asked Doug a question he would have an answer ‘the same day’. Doug had lists and spreadsheets, everything ran like clockwork. Here was a man you could really trust and rely upon. A real man of God, charismatic. Who of us can forget all those wonderful concerts expertly arranged and organised by Doug, Daniel O’Donnell, Charlie Landsborough, Helen Shapiro to name but a few. Who of us can forget the Christian Debates complete with wonderful audiences, again all organised by Doug. The day Doug organised a Baby Grand Piano to be delivered to Revelation TV studios for one of the ‘Britain’s got talent’ winners was again a master stoke of ingenuity and organisation. Doug Harris was a man of God, a praying man, a compassionate man, a friend and confidante. Doug was a wonderful negotiator, a man of integrity. When faced with difficult questions Doug never shrank from telling the ‘Truth’, but would always answer with love and humour.
Doug absolutely loved what he did and it showed. He presented many programmes for Revelation TV and his enthusiasm and sheer love of the work shone through again and again and again. What a legacy to leave behind. This tribute began with Ecclesiastes so let us end there also. Ecclesiastes Chapter 3 Verse 2: “A time to be born and a time to die.” Maybe this was Doug’s time, his work fulfilled, his race run; he will hear those famous words; “Well done good and faithful servant” Matthew 25: V21 Angie Clifford
COIN RBL POPPY APPEAL BREAKFAST A happy gathering from the Coin Branch of the Royal British Legion enjoyed a fabulous breakfast feast in Rosie Mahoney’s garden on Saturday 18th of May in aid of the Poppy Appeal. Chairman Jo Taylor and her culinary team served a full English breakfast to 41 ravenous revellers while several committee members amazed the crowd with their dazzling service skills. The diners started their breakfast with a delicious glass of juice freshly squeezed from oranges donated to the event by local grower Bartolomé Rojano Madrid. The juice was followed by a huge plate of eggs, bacon, sausage, black pudding, mushrooms and beans with toast, tea or coffee for a mere 6 euros a head. Poppy Appeal Officer Vic Dean had constructed a portable cooking hob from scrap just in time for the event and he can be seen here with his wife Cathy proudly presenting his creation. At the end of the morning he was a very happy man as the event raised €162.50 for the 2013 Poppy Appeal.
The calm before the storm! May has been a relatively quiet month for TAPAS members. That’s not to say they’ve been idle – far from it. However June promises to be pretty hectic. Rehearsals are already taking place for the Murder Mystery, “Who Killed the Ship’s Captain?” which will be presented at the end of the month. The choir has been busy rehearsing in readiness for perfor-mances at Aloha Golf, Mijas International Day and at a wed-ding at the Castle in Fuengirola. Many TAPAS members will also be beginning
rehearsals for the 1940’s Show, “We’ll meet again”, scheduled for October. As well as all this Los Arcos will be also be hosting a Paella evening for TAPAS members. Welcome to our first article for The Sentinella,. Moneycorp has been in business for 30plus years and help clients move their monies around the world and last year moved over ÂŁ11billion for our clients. In our article we will provide information on the currency markets. Economic data impacts upon currency exchange rates and affects the cost of your transfers be it for a pension, mortgage payment, living expenses or buying and selling a property. If you are living in Spain or simply own a holiday home getting the best exchange is really important and that's why we will keep you posted on the things that affect you.
During the last couple of weeks we have had data from the eurozone that shows unemployment is still a big issue not least in France where for the 24th consecutive month the number of people out of work rose thankfully Germany is not suffering a similar fate and they have offered to provide up to 5000 jobs for the unemployed youths in Spain. Banks within the zone continue to be in the news and we are hearing that loans to eurozone companies fell again in April for the 12th month and this does not help the amount of money flowing around the economy. With Spain and Portugal in particular having their deficit targets extended by a period of up to 2 years then we do hope for better times.
In the UK retail sales have fallen again, this time at the fastest rate in over a year as households continue to feel the pinch. Inflation however was on their side as we heard it fell to 2.4% although expectation is that it will increase again. With the much anticipated review of the UK economy by the IMF which has suggested the UK must focus on growth then the focus is on Mr Osborne to cut corporate taxes within the current plan. On a brighter note Nationwide reported a rise
in house prices and with government plans to come into force in 2014 to boost the housing market then hope may be around the corner. Next month we will include the USA and look closer at statistical data but to look back at rates during the last month the highs and lows are as follows High ÂŁ to $ 1.5593 ÂŁ to Euro 1.1895 Euro to $ 1.3223

HOW TO MAKE YOUR GOLF BETTER! TITLEIST, the biggest producer of golf balls, producing 1.5 mill / day has a section named ”Titleist Performance Institute.”TPI – it has the biggest collection of golf specific health and exercise information, based on golf experts and tour players experience and knowledge, some of this info they share with you on the web site MyTPI.com THE RIGHT SEQUENCE: correct cinematic sequence meaning the right movement of the pelvis- upper body – arms and club are an absolute must for the optimal result. Motion and power patterns are very much like a four-stage rocket, where the power of every stage in the sequence is carried over too the following. If you are in anyway physically hindered resulting in a lack of full motion, strength, balance or coordination, your body will try to compensate with a very unstable result. REDUCED INJURY: The risk of inducing pain,
overload or injuries is eminent and guaranteed is that they will come, sooner or later. Titleist have come to understand this and have therefore developed a process called “Screening”, where the movement of the joints is measured in degrees. You also do additional testing of muscle strength and balance among other things. AUTHORISED TITLEIST INSTRUCTOR As an authorised Titlest instructor, Rolf Martinsen is proficient to do this “screening”, thus being able to tell you with a large degree of accuracy - and this without ever having to see you play one ball – if you have a problem with your ”swing”, Resulting in a slide, sway, casting, reverse spine angle, hanging back. The “Screening” is best combined with a video recording of your swing, this to easier illustrate what needs to be corrected. He can facilitate you with the right exercise plan, training instructions and if needed treatment. This to improve your ability to get the right sequence, guaranteeing improvement to your golf swing and limit the risk of injuries COLLABORATION Between him, you and your golf-pro will help you correct your tee-off / swing to achieve the best possible results.
Business Debt Prevention is better than cure, as De Cotta Law explains...
Owning, running and managing a business in Spain during the crisis is a challenge. Unpaid invoices and accounts can cause immediate cash flow problems and build up longer term issues for both small and large companies. One of the best ways of preventing this from happening is having correctly drafted payment terms, together with proper contractual agreements with your clients and customers. Some agreements don’t correctly define the company or provider and they are therefore difficult to enforce if you have a problem with an account. For both parties the certainty of knowing payment terms and having copies of invoices and facturas is far better than having to go to court to make a claim. A Spanish lawyer can study the documentation you give to clients to ensure any agreement or contract can be enforced. This applies to everybody from estate agents to hotel owners and a good set of customer or client documents makes it less likely that problems will occur. Spanish courts do have an accelerated procedure for monetary claims and something similar to a UK summary judgement can be obtained that can be enforced against the debtor if they do not contest it. Normally the first step is for a ‘burofax’ to be sent to the debtor demanding payment within a fixed number of days. If there is no response then a claim can be made and there are now court costs to consider as well as legal fees. However if you are successful some of the costs can be recovered from the other party.
For claims above 3.000€ it is normally necessary to commence a civil claim rather than just a ‘small claim’. This does involve extra costs and we normally recommend undertaking a property or asset search to see if you are likely to be able to recover the debt. Each case should be decided on its merits so it is wise to get legal advice both prior to entering into contracts, and again if you need to make a claim for an unpaid debt.

Brides dead revisited Darwin nominee August 2012 A bride fell to her death last August of 2012 in the Ouareau River, about 75 kilometres north of Montreal. She was standing in about 15 to 30 centimetres of water while a photographer was taking her picture. A witness said her dress got heavy from soaking up water and the woman asked for help getting out of the river. The photographer and his assistant were unable to lift her out. That's when the woman was swept away by harsh currents and taken under water. Quebec provincial police found her nearly four hours after the incident. The woman, who was named Maria Pantazopoulos and had been married for a few months but wanted more photos of herself in her wedding dress at
the river. The 30-year-old newlywed may have been doing a "trash the dress" photo shoot, a trend in photography that puts well - dressed people in environments
where they seem slightly out of place. This trend is often seen in destination weddings when brides challenge beach waves while wearing a wedding dress.
"The serpent pastor" who died from a snake bite May 2012 West Virginia Darwin nominee Mack Wolford, a West Virginia Pentecostal who just turned 44, was bitten on the thigh in May of 2012 when he sat next to a rattlesnake during an outdoor service at a state park. He was taken to a relative's home to recover, but was rushed later to a local hospital where he was declared dead. Wolford believed that the Bible requires Christians to handle poisonous snakes to test their faith in God and to remain steadfast in their belief that they will not be bitten or will be healed if they are attacked. Holy snake!

With the new Kiano agency Andalucia Glass and Steel S.L. showrooms now open in Nueva Andalucia and others in Benalmadena, Menorca and Portugal in the pipeline. The Kiano design team have developed another three products to complement their range of accessories. A low height Glass Balustrading for walls and planter bases plus the internal or external Glass Stairway applications based on the same unique Vari-Angle Coupling concept. Using Autocad programs they can provide accurate drawings prior to installation of their systems enabling their clients to view beforehand their proposals.

Manufacturing the systems themselves with a dedicated workforce and their own machine shop gives them the opportunity to modify parts to suit special non- standard applications and control Quality and production output, although from a commercial prospective the parts could be made for them in the Far East and several offers have already been made for this, the Director at Kiano an expat from the U.K. will not take this route and prefers to manufacture in house and create employment in this area which has been his family home for the past 10 years. With regard to the recommendations and European ruling for fencing around swimming pools it seems that although most people know about it, not many are taking notice in keeping the children and less fortunate safer in the
swimming pool area ( with word on the grapevine that fines will be implemented for non-compliance). The Director of Kiano is very concerned from personal experience of the dangers of easy accessibility of children to the water.
A general comment in conversation and advice from Kiano that some sort of fence should be fitted to community or rental property swimming pools is, “Yes we agree it should be done but we just can’t afford it”, firstly what price can you put on the life of a child? secondly if the reason is that you cannot afford any type of fence so you don’t need one and won’t be fined, does this mean that if you cannot afford your car insurance and are stopped by the police they won’t issue a hefty fine?. Something to consider.
With the current economic climate as it is it was obvious that a cheaper alternative was required.
Kiano have obtained the distribution and installation rights of Poolguard removable fencing systems.
Though not as appealing as their Glass Balustrading systems, the removable fencing complies with regulations including Self Closing Latching gates and can be quickly removed when not required.
Although primarily for the private rentals where the agencies can offer this additional safety feature to the property it is evident that increased rentals have been achieved by offering this extra feature, they are becoming popular with communities due to the cost difference compared to permanent fencing, typically an 8m x 4m pool with one gate can be fully installed for 2,500€

SHARK TALES OF THE MED One of the most frequent questions we are asked here at Simply Diving, as we set off on another exploration of the aquatic realm – in fact probably THE most frequent – is, “am I going to see any sharks?”
The question of course comes in two forms. In anxious excitement from the experienced diver hoping for an encounter with the planet’s most (in)famous predators, or with trembling dread from others who think the end result of their diving day will be getting turned into lunch.
The answer is always the same: a resounding, honest and very positive “YES”. Seldom seen - and even more seldom coming close to scuba divers, beachgoers or boats - they are most definitely there. Very sadly, however, in ever-decreasing numbers due to being overfished. The Mediterranean Sea’s huge, continentspanning, near-million square miles and its temperate waters are actually home to at least 47 different species of shark, at least 15 of which are said to pose varying degrees of danger to humans. Yet despite tens of millions of people using its 28,600 miles of coastline each and every year, there have been very few reported Mediterranean shark attacks. And even fewer deaths. Some of the waters in the Mediterranean reach a depth of over 4,500 metres although the average depth is about 1,200 metres.
With very saline, warm water and little tidal movement, the Med is home to an abundance of sea creatures, giving the sharks plenty of food to live off. At the Straits of Gibraltar - a 12km gap between Spain and Africa that is a thick soup of marine diversity - the Med opens into the vast Atlantic Ocean, and offers a migratory path for many pelagic sharks to traverse the ocean to other parts of the watery world. Some species of sharks complete this feat unfailingly every year, returning to the deep waters of the Mediterranean to hatch their young. So what species of this big, cartilaginous fish can we look out for here on the Costa? Depending on your persuasion, you may or may not be pleased to learn that the three most dangerous sharks on the planet are believed to be present. This is the Great White, the Tiger and the Bull Shark. Others include Blacktips, Hammerheads, Blue sharks, Oceanic Whitetips and Threshers. But despite the fact that The Big Three have teeth designed for tearing (and despite the fact that many smaller sharks have powerful bites themselves) there’s no need for any Amity Island-style mass hysterics about deadly shark attacks. Consider some facts and figures… There were a mere 21 cases in the entire Mediterranean between 1907 and 2010. For the less mathematically inclined, that works out at 0.2 attacks per year. A modest tally for the sharks indeed. Especially compared to the tens of people who die every year form bee stings, toaster accidents… and cheerleading!

Stereo grams Turn the page sideways clockwise and look at the image, you should see a 3D Picture? Can’t see it? here’s some tips that might help
The Pullback Get very close to the stereogram, very very slowly pull it away from you. At first you won’t even be able to focus on the image... However keep moving the image in and out relaxing and it will appear. Look at the reflection You’ll need to look at something about twice the distance of the image. It turns out we have exactly what you need , Your reflection.. By looking at your reflection in the page. To help put the image behind glass enough for you to see your reflection.
After looking at your reflection, simply stop focussing on your reflection and try to see the image. Repeat switching your focus from your reflection to the image,,, suddenly you will see it

PROOF THAT THE WORLD HAS GONE OFFICIALLY BONKERS ! In Lebanon , men are legally allowed to have sex with animals, but the animals must be female. Having sexual relations with a male animal is punishable by death. (Like THAT makes sense.)
In Bahrain , a male doctor may legally examine a woman's genitals, but is prohibited from looking directly at them during the examination. He may only see their reflection in a mirror. (Do they look different reversed?)
Muslims are banned from looking at the genitals of a corpse. This also applies to undertakers. The sex organs of the deceased must be covered with a brick or piece of wood at all times. (A brick?)
The penalty for masturbation in Indonesia is decapitation. (Much worse than 'going blind!')
There are men in Guam whose full-time job is to travel the countryside and deflower young virgins, who pay them for the privilege of having sex for the first time Reason: under Guam law, it is expressly forbidden for virgins to marry.
(Let's just think for a minute, is there any job anywhere else in the world that even comes close to this?) Think I will move to Guam
In Hong Kong , a betrayed wife is legally allowed to kill her adulterous husband, but may only do so with her bare hands. (No golf clubs . .. . I hear a 3 iron works well)
The husband's illicit lover, on the other hand, may be killed in any manner desired. (Ah! Justice!)
In Cali , Colombia , a woman may only have sex with her husband, and the first time this happens, her mother must be in the room to witness the act. (Makes one shudder at the thought.)
In Santa Cruz , Bolivia , it is illegal for a man to have sex with a woman and her daughter at the same time. (I presume this was a big enough problem that they had to pass this law?)
In Maryland , USA , it is illegal to sell condoms from vending machines with one exception: Prophylactics may be dispensed from a vending machine only in places where alcoholic beverages are sold for consumption on the premises.' (Is this a great country or what?) Well, .... not as great as Guam !
Banging your head against a wall uses 150
calories an hour. (Who volunteers for these tests?)
The Ant can lift 50 times its own weight, can pull 30 times its own weight and always falls over on its right side when intoxicated. (From drinking little bottles of ???) (Did our government pay for this research?) Butterflies taste with their feet.. (Ah, jeez.)
An ostrich's eye is bigger than its brain. (I know some people like that.) Starfish don't have brains. (I know some people like that, too!)
Turtles can breathe through their arseholes. (And I thought I had bad breath in the morning!) Thank you all for reading this.
If you need to reach me in the future, I will be in Guam .
