primeiro trabalho de Wim vandekeybus à frente de sua companhia, o espetáculo O que o Corpo Não Lembra estreou em 1987 e recebeu o renomado prêmio bessie awards, em Nova York, no ano seguinte. mais de duas décadas depois, o grupo remonta o trabalho com um novo elenco e viaja o mundo em uma turnê internacional.

Então aos 23 anos, o jovem coreógrafo inspirou-se em situações que fogem ao controle, como os segundos que antecedem um acidente e uma paixão súbita, para sua criação. a vontade de usar experiências únicas como base de um trabalho de dança é por si um paradoxo, já que o evento teatral é, de certa forma, reprodutível e controlado. De todo modo, durante a peça, são mantidos o frescor da decisão, a atenção e a intensidade da vida real. pode-se perceber a força dos confrontos entre os bailarinos e a ousadia na relação que eles nutrem com a música e a coreografia, como se não houvesse distinção entre o que se dá no presente e o que foi programado.

o risco, a agressividade e a emoção viva atravessam os anos e fazem de O que o Corpo Não Lembra uma obra atual e pulsante. a companhia ultima vez é dirigida pelo coreógrafo Wim vandekeybus, reconhecido por sua produção no cinema e por acolher referências de outras áreas artísticas.

Wim vandekeybus’ first work, O Que O Corpo Não Lembra, premeired in 1987, and received the pretigious bessie award in New York the following year. more than two decades later, the group performed the show again with a new cast, and travelled the world on an international tour.

at 23 years of age, the young choreographer found creative inspiration in situations which were completely out of his control, such as in the seconds before an accident or a sudden passionate affair. the willingness to use unique experiences as the basis for a dance piece is itself a paradox, being that the theatrical event is, in a way, reproducible and controlled. During the piece, the spontaneity of decision making, attention and the intensity of real life are all maintained. conflict between dancers is apparent as well as the boldness in which they create relationships between the music and choreography, as if there were no distinction between what is happening in the present and what was planned in advance.

risk, agression and emotion are all alive and transgress the years to make O que O Corpo Não Lembra a living, breathing work which is still relevant today. the ultima vez company is directed by the choreographer Wim vandekeybus, known for his work in film and for welcoming references from other artistic areas.
