IAD: Component 1: Part 1.

Design Brief:

• For this project, I will be transforming this dull land into an area that is more modern for the surroundings. The surrounding area is filled with various types of people from old to young and households with families so I would like to create a space that incorporates everyone. My idea is to:

▪ Leisure & Entertainment/Sports/ wellbeing centre.

▪ Themes: Geometric and assembly.

My location is the Belhus Country Park.

The area is currently open the public as it allows people to have a network or walking and cycling routes. Additionally, the area has also had plans for extra woodland and habitats built for various animals on both the land and in the nearby lake. Currently in the area there are no nearby leisure centres, however it is also located next to the M25 which would allow for greater access and combined with all the pathways for cyclists and walking it will be the perfect place to improve.

Primary location pictures

Due to there being a clear canvas, there's a lot of space for different designs for example like different elevations of the building. There are some possible limitations for example a telephone pole which could get in the way of the plan also the long road has great access for cars and other types of transport and will still allow for the public to use the other parts of the surrounding area.

Inspiration pictures

I feel that Japanese architecture is very solace as it adapts nature into its design and allows for a more natural environment which is something I would like to include into my design.

The final design adapts the golden ratio as the calculations made allowed the building to decrease in size by not only the area of the building but also the height allowing for each section of the whole building to look symmetrical.
