FROM THE DESK OF THE G.M. BY BOB FOSTER, GENERAL MANAGER
Hello Carrollwood Members! As I write this, I have been in Tampa just over a week and here at Carrollwood Country Club as your General Manager less than that. I have met many of you over the course of the past few days and would like to say a heartfelt thank you to all of you for such a warm welcome. For those of you I have not met, I am looking forward to meeting you over the next few weeks. I am very grateful to Gil Cote for taking a few days to spend with me upon my arrival. His help and assistance during this transition have been extremely beneficial. Gil accomplished much during his tenure and I am looking forward to continuing his drive for excellence in all areas of our Club. As many of you learned from Gil’s email to the Membership, I have come to Carrollwood from the Richmond, Virginia area. My wife, Paula, however is still in Richmond as of the time of this article. We hope to have our home listed and sold in the next month or so, but while in that process, we will be flying back and forth every couple of weeks. We also have a realtor here in Tampa that is working hard to find a home for us here. I thank you in advance for your understanding during our relocation process. Much has happened at the Club over the past month and will continue happening into September and October. The tile for the roof will hopefully have been installed by the time you read this, and the bunker renovation project should be nearing its halfway point of completion. Chuck and his team will have completed the aerification process on all three nines and the golf course is in terrific condition. In addition, Danny and Robert will be changing our Menu selections in the very near future. Finally, I would like to recognize the hiring of Mr. Brian Thornbury as our Director of Golf. Many of you have known Brian from his days here in the past or his work at Cheval. I am very pleased he has joined the team at Carrollwood and look forward to working with him now and for many years to come. Please also know that we are very proud of how Aaron Scofield responded and worked so hard after Shawn’s departure. I look forward to the onset of Fall, cooler temperatures and less rainfall.
Bob Foster General Manager

Hello CCC Members!!!! Well Geez-La-Weez, I am so glad that we are moving past our rainy, wet, steamy hot Summer and into our rainy, hot, steamy Fall season lol. All joking aside, I hope everyone enjoyed their Summer and is ready for some dryer, cooler days ahead. Carrollwood Country Club has definitely been busy, and no-one can ever say it’s boring here at the Club. We have had many changes in the last few months, but show me success without change, it’s impossible, so we embrace it and look forward to all the new possibilities. We’ve had to say Goodbye to a few key staff members within the last month, but we wish Shawn Gordon, Keith Walker and Gil Cote all the very best. Having said that, we now have Mr. Brian Thornbury back here at the Club as our Director of Golf and Mr. Bob Foster as our General Manager. We are extremely happy to have both gentlemen here as part of our Carrollwood Country Club Family. As far as Membership goes, CCC is on the rise. In the last (3) months we have had (62) new Members join. There are a lot of new faces, and please, if you are having lunch, dinner, or are at an event and notice a new face, please introduce yourself. Many people who join are new to the area and could have children looking to make new friends. There may be someone recently widowed or a young family just starting out. We have some great members and we are a great Club. Carrollwood Country Club is always trying to find new ways for our members to connect but we are also open to suggestions from our Members. Please feel free to contact me with any suggestions as to what type of events you, our Members, want to have here! Now many of you are aware of our MSM Referral Program, Members Sponsoring Members. This is a great program and a great way to reduce your monthly dues. Many of you have already referred someone and are reaping the benefits, but keep in mind, if you have already referred someone and have reduced dues, you can still refer someone else and receive one month equal their dues. So, keep up the good work and if you have a referral, please feel free to reach out to me with their name and contact information before they join. Unfortunately, this does not apply to anyone after the application process. I don’t know about you, but I am excited for what is to come. We have a Great Team and we are always striving to be better with you in mind. I’m looking forward to a great rest of the year and seeing all of you around the Club. Best Regards,
Renee Constantine Membership Director

Another Summer has come and gone!! Personally, I’m more than happy to get out of the wettest and hottest Summer yet. Well, at least it seemed that way. We have now passed the half-way point of the year and we're rolling right into “Fall”. I would like to thank all the Members and their guests that participated in our Hot Nights in Havana. It was a lot of fun and dancing all night long!! Murder Mystery in August was another huge success!! The only “mystery” left at the end of the night was, who ate all the deep-fried cheesecake bites??? There was nothing left for me!! With another set of great events lined up for all of you, we hope you make it out to enjoy your Club’s offerings. Coming up September 15th, we will be hosting our first ever “Family Fun Festival!!” There will be an enormous amount of fun to be had. We will have Giant Jenga, Cornhole, Ping Pong, Splash Pad, Swimming Pool, and for the first time ever here Laser Tag, and a Mobile Video Game Truck. There will also be a live music performance by Chris Cary and his band. This will be a huge event with a ton of fun, please get your reservations in ASAP as we may sell out the event. Also, in September we will be having our usual monthly events like Bingo on the second Thursday of the month, our Beer Dinner on September 20th and the Bacchus Wine Dinner will be returning on the 26th of the month. For October, we will be in for a spooky good time again this year with our “Boo Buffet”. This event sells out every year!! Be sure to get your reservations in early. There will be great food, games, balloon artists, and live music with dancing that can wake the dead!! Come dressed in your best Halloween costumes. So much fun its scary! Continuing in October, we have our monthly events that consist of Manny emceeing the Bingo Night, Beer Dinner on the 25th and Bacchus Wine Dinner will be moving to the 17th this month due to Halloween. With another Fall approaching, it’s due time for another change. That’s right, another menu changes here in Grille 72. We have reviewed the menu and after some long discussions and extensive taste testing and research, we have come to a decision in the direction of our dining room menus. We have decided to add a few new staple items and a few unique items that will have you wanting more, making CCC your new favorite place to eat. With Chef Robert at the Heart of the House, we are making huge strides in the kitchen for quality and consistency you are sure to notice. If it has been a while since dining with us, we urge you to come back and taste the difference. Our improved service standards paired with a scratch kitchen will please even the most critical of patrons. We look forward to being your favorite lunch, dinner, and Sunday breakfast destination. Our weekly specials will be changing a bit as well. Tuesday’s lunch special will continue with BOGO sandwiches through September and October. Buy any sandwich at regular price and get your second sandwich of equal or lesser value free (Dine-In Only). For dinner on Tuesdays, kids eat free with each paying adult meal ($10 minimum entrée purchase.) We will also continue with Wine Down Wednesdays through the Fall. Our talented kitchen staff will prepare your pasta dish to your specifications right in front of you. Dinner includes the first glass of house wine complimentary, garden or Caesar salad, and garlic toast. Thursdays will remain Prime Rib Night. A selection of either a Queen or King cut Prime Rib vegetable of the day, baked potato, garden or Caesar salad and dinner rolls. Friday nights we will still have live music on the Terrace brought to you by a few talented local artists. Saturdays will remain our “Southern Style Seafood Saturdays”. Each week Chef Robert prepares a specific “Southern Style” seafood dish that will make David Guas salivate. This delicious entrée will be served with a garden or Caesar salad and bread. New to Sundays for the Football season we will be having our Bucs & BBQ Tailgate Party!! Chef will be making ground BBQ brisket and beef burgers the way you like with a selection of different toppings. Served with your choice of a side. All for only $9.99. Also, on Sundays during any Bucs game we will have $.79 wings!! Get your game faces on and get in here to enjoy your favorite team and your favorite place to eat!! I am looking forward to another great season with all of you here at Carrollwood. We are constantly improving our systems and products to strive to be the best place in town for you and your guests. If there is ever anything that we are doing or not doing that we can improve upon, my office door and my mind is always open to suggestions and new ideas to make your experience here a stellar one. Thank you all for your participation in our events and your support in Food and Beverage. This is your Club, without your continued support our success is not possible. Danny Black

From the Golf Course Superintendent Fall is one of my favorite times on the golf course. Humidity and temperatures have dropped and the chance of thunderstorms in the afternoon is nearly zero. We have wrapped up our Summer maintenance practices and the courses have responded well. By now, many of you have noticed that the rough cut has gotten deeper. First thing is that this practice is something that we have done every late Summer over the last 6 years. The main objective in raising the heights is to ensure that we have a relatively thick rough in the Winter months when there is little growth due to cooler temperatures and length of day. My staff and I pride ourselves to be out front of possible problems and complete all the mandatory preventive maintenance that keeps our golf course in the best possible shape. I am sure all of you have noticed the new sand on the Pine and Cypress course traps. Along with the new sand (which is called G angle sand) new drainage was also installed. We will no longer have standing water in these Bunkers in the Summer and should perform well in the years ahead. Unfortunately do to time constraints we were unable to start the Meadow course, but have it scheduled to begin sometime in May of 2019. If you should have any questions or concerns about the golf courses or any of the procedures that we perform on the golf courses, my office door is always open. As always, the staff and I appreciate your efforts in practicing good golf course etiquette.

League Tennis News & Other Happenings BY NOLA SMITH, TENNIS REPRESENTATIVE
Here we go ….. back to League play, and we are ready, even though the weather will be a challenge! Our Tuesday Suncoast Ladies Tennis team has enjoyed their practices this Summer in anticipation of another competitive Fall season. Our goal remains the same….to have FUN first, but to play to WIN! We boast many returning team members, and welcome back Genevieve Torres, who will partner at #1 with Ashlee Gramatica. We have included some pictures which were taken at our end of the year luncheon. Let’s go gettum girls! Wednesdays at CCC are extra busy with two Women’s Leagues …. Our Interbay 2018-19 CCC team will be prepared to have a successful start to the season as many members have been participating in clinic, lessons and social play. This wacky and wonderful Wednesday group enjoy the friendships and fun on and off the courts as many have been Club Members for a couple of decades!! The question is which will be hotter….the weather in August or the CCC 2018-19 Interbay team?? Our ALOT team, also played on Wednesdays, spent the Summer with challenges and lots of interteam practices. All of our teams are returning and looking forward to a great season. Our first match was at home on August 22nd.

The 3.5 Ladies USTA 40+ team finished the Spring season in May, and was just one win away from finishing in second place. They are looking forward to moving up in the ranks this year. Please feel free to contact our Tennis Director, Chris Cary, about any of our Leagues. Did you know? We have a GREAT Junior program right here at CCC. We have FREE Fun Friday Tennis Mixers one Friday a month, from 7:00 to 9:00pm. Dates are September 7th (theme - the 60’s), October 19th (Halloween Costume night), and November 16th (the 70’s).
