The normal selling price of nearly new items is approximately 60% of the cost of new items, although items are individually inspected and priced based on condition.
We are happy to accept donations of current, excellent condition, laundered items, for resale All proceeds are donated to the Candlelight Bursary. Please contact the School Shop to make your donation.
Please contact schoolshop@sherborne.com for a copy of the paperwork required to accompany resale items. Items are held for sale for two years only, after this time, garments are donated to charity
Shop Accounts
All items are available to purchase with cash, debit/credit card or charged to account Purchases on account are made on production of a valid School Shop card
All pupils are allocated an account when they arrive at Sherborne Girls. Accounts are automatically capped, with an allowance set at £250 (per term), for purchases of stationery, toiletries and tuck in the School Shop, as well as drinks and snacks at Queenie’s Café in the Merritt Centre
Parents who wish to change their daughter’s allowance can email the Shop schoolshop@sherborne.com with the desired amount. Limits can be adjusted (up or down) at any time during the school term. A further allowance for uniform purchases is in place. However, setting an allowance for uniform is not necessary as all single purchases over £30 require parental permission, which can be given via email, a phone call or your daughter can collect a permission form for signature by the relevant HM or Matron
All purchases made on account will be collated and included on the termly bill in the Extras Schedule
Labelling
Everything brought to school must be clearly marked with name tapes. This includes: all uniform, home clothing, bedding and towels Name tapes should show, at least, the pupil’s surname followed by their House initial (e.g. Bloggs RH). A supply of name tapes should be left with your daughter’s Matron for naming any uniform purchased during term time
The School Shop offers a nametape sewing service (chargeable and for SG School Shop purchases only) This service is subject to availability
Tuck boxes and trunks/suitcases should be clearly marked with the pupil’s name and House initial. If you choose to preorder a tuck box and/or trunk, a naming service can be selected Please complete the form included with your Admissions paperwork.
Books
All required class textbooks will be loaned to pupils by subject teachers. Loaned textbooks must be returned to the relevant department at the end of a school year or course Failure to return textbooks or library books will result in a charge for the costs of replacement. If a textbook or set text requires annotation by the pupil, this will be charged for and the cost will appear on the subsequent bill. In this case, the pupil will retain the book.
Lacrosse Goggles
The wearing of goggles for lacrosse is mandatory for all players A small selection of goggles is available to purchase from the School Shop.
Mouthguards
All pupils who play lacrosse or hockey are required to have a mouthguard to protect their teeth The Medical Officers of Schools Association sees danger in ill-fitting self-applied mouthguards, and we advise that to conform to the requirements of the sports authority, mouthguards should be individually fitted by a reputable dental technician after the mould has been made by a dental practitioner. Alternatively, at the start of the Michaelmas Term, we arrange for a company to come into school to fit OPRO mouthguards The School Shop does sell self-fit mouthguards for times when this protection is lost or forgotten for games lessons.
