"Pandemic Shuffle"
Here at the Dietert Center, we feel like that’s what we’ve been doing over the past nine months—the “Pandemic Shuffle.” Our greatest concern is the health and safety of our seniors and we know that social isolation is detrimental to their health. We’ve been open to the community and then closed while the infection numbers rose. During this crazy time, we have still been here all the time for our seniors in need. A few highlights from our year include: • Prepared and delivered over 70,000 meals to our homebound seniors • Prepared and provided over 11,500 meals in our Friendship Café and drive-thru services • Loaned out 1,000 medical equipment items and answered over 1,300 calls for community information and referral services • Assured our Call Reassurance program participants over 4,600 times that we are here waiting for their call • Installed and maintained over 325 Personal Alert Link (PAL) units so seniors know someone is there at a push of a button if needed
• We are so honored to have had over 400 volunteers provide over 49,000 hours of service for our programs and especially 200 of those volunteers that deliver our Meals on Wheels each weekday. Thank you for helping care for our community seniors. • Our Dietert staff family continues to be available daily to help wherever needed. Please give us a call. The “Pandemic Shuffle” is not keeping us down. For the past 50 years and for the next 50, we will continue to provide these necessary and beneficial services. As soon as we can safely open our doors to the public, we’ll be ready with more Club Ed, Travel, and other services. Hang in there with us.
