The Life of
Charles M. Pinder A Time to Be Born It was October 17th, 1948 in the quaint settlement of Alice Town Eleuthera, where a precious baby boy was born to the late Doris Brown and the late Robert Pinder. Knowledge is Power “Mac”, as he was affectionately called, attended the Gregory Town All Age School where he grew up with his grandmother, the late Blanche Scavella, whom he loved dearly. A Time to Labour Upon completing school, Mac sought employment with his uncle, the late John Scavella, doing construction work. He also sought employment at the Hatchet Bay Plantation. Mac, being the industrious person that he was, wanted to make a better life, therefore, he took a brave step and moved to Grand Bahama. He then found employment at the Bahamas Cement Company. After working there for a few years, he sought a bigger and better opportunity to travel the world with McAllister Tug Boat Company. He visited places such as Saudi Arabia, Buran and Iran just to name a few. Mac decided that he had been away from his family long enough and returned to Grand Bahama. He then applied for a public service driver’s license and became his own boss as a taxi driver. He was a stellar taxi driver which later grew into his own private Limo Services. Mac loved being in the tourism industry and driving his taxi was the love of his life. He was truly a pioneer in Grand Bahama’s Tourism Economy for many years. This is where he remained until the time of his death. Furthermore, Mac was a loyal supporter of the Progressive Liberal Party. He was installed as a Stalwart Consellor of the Progressive Liberal Party where he championed from 1966 along side Sir Lynden Pindling fighting for better opportunities for Bahamians especially on the island of Eleuthera in the settlement of Hatchet Bay. He loved and was very committed to his party.
A Time to Love In 1973, Charles met the love of his life, the beautiful, outstanding, ambitious, virtuous, young lady of God, Linda (nee Carey). They were joined in holy matrimony on August 2nd, 1975. This union lasted for 43 years until the time of his death. God blessed Charles with a handsome son Carnell and his adopted son Hartman whom he raised from the age of 6. Mac loved his wife, his two sons, and his grandchildren dearly. Through Kitchener Avenue, Mac was known as “Uncle Mac” to his extended sons. Kitchener Avenue and the taxi industry will surely miss him. Mac was an excellent provider for his family. Every year, him and his family looked forward to their family vacations. However, although vacation 2018 was planned and tickets were bought, it was not meant to be because God had another plan in mind. The Strife is Over The Battle Won On the 5th of August 2018, Mac went to the Rand Memorial Hospital with his wife Linda by his side for medical attention. During his stay in the Rand Memorial Hospital, there was a vast outpouring of love by family and friends at his bedside. Mac accepted the Lord as his personal Savior and he witnessed to that fact before he died. God was in control and Mac’s trust was in him. Sadly, on Wednesday August 15th, 2018 at about 9:00am, Jesus saw that Mac could take no more. He peacefully, quickly, and quietly took him home. Charles was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, uncle, brother, friend and mentor. Sleep on Mac and take your rest. We love you but Jesus loves you best. Tribute to our
Father As We Look Back As we look back over time We find ourselves wondering ….. Did we remember to thank you enough For all you have done for us? For all the times you were by our sides To help and support us ….. To celebrate our successes To understand our problems And accept our defeats? Or for teaching us by your example, The value of hard work, good judgment, Courage and integrity? We wonder if we ever thanked you For the sacrifices you made. To let us have the very best? And for the simple things Like laughter, smiles and times we shared? If we have forgotten to show our Gratitude enough for all the things you did, We’re thanking you now. And we are hoping you knew all along, How much you meant to us.

Tribute Tribute to My Brother Mac Obituary (To be read in silence) HYMN And Can It Be And can it be that I should gain An interest in the Savior’s blood? Died He for me, who caused His pain— For me, who Him to death pursued? Amazing love! How can it be, That Thou, my God, shouldst die for me? ’Tis mystery all: thee Immortal dies: Who can explore His strange design? In vain the firstborn seraph tries To sound the depths of love divine. ’Tis mercy all! Let earth adore, Let angel minds inquire no more. He left His Father’s throne above So free, so infinite His grace— Emptied Himself of all but love, And bled for Adam’s helpless race: ’Tis mercy all, immense and free, For O my God, it found out me! Long my imprisoned spirit lay Fast bound in sin and nature’s night; Thine eye diffused a quickening ray I woke, the dungeon flamed with light; My chains feel off, my heart was free, I rose, went forth, and followed Thee. No condemnation now I dread; Jesus, and all in Him, is mine; Alive in Him, my living Head, And clothed in righteousness divine, Bold I approach thee eternal throne, And claim the crown, through Christ my own.
Gospel Reading John 14: 1–6, 27 | Bishop Theophilus Rolle (All Standing) Minister: This is the gospel of Christ. People: Praise be to Christ our Lord Selection Zina Robins SERMON: Bishop Theophilus Rolle THE APOSTLES’ CREED (All Standing) I believe in God, the Father Almighty, creator of heaven and earth. I believe in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord. He was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary. He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried. He descended to the dead. On the third day He rose again. He ascended into heaven, and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Holy, Catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen PRAYER FOR THE FAMILY (Rev’d Terrance Taylor) HYMN Tis So Sweet to Trust in Jesus ’Tis so sweet to trust in Jesus, And to take Him at His Word; Just to rest upon His promise, And to know, “Thus says the Lord!” (Chorus) Jesus, Jesus, how I trust Him! How I’ve proved Him o’er and o’er Jesus, Jesus, precious Jesus! O for grace to trust Him more! I’m so glad I learned to trust Thee, Precious Jesus, Savior, Friend; And I know that Thou art with me, Wilt be with me to the end.

PRAISE AND BLESSINGS BE TO YOU, O HOLY SPIRIT, GOD OUR COMFORTER, who bear witness within us of our acceptance with the Father and have become the pledge of our eternal inheritance. ALL PRAISE AND GLORY, BLESSINGS AND HONOUR, THANKSGIVING AND WORSHIP BE TO YOU, O BLESSED TRINITY, FATHER, SON, AND HOLY SPIRIT, ONE GOD FOR EVER AND EVER. Amen. PRAYER OF COMMENDATION (All standing) ETERNAL GOD, who have made us all and hate nothing that you have made, and have given your Son for our redemption we commend our brother Charles McClain to your perfect mercy and wisdom. Eternal rest grant unto him. And let perpetual light shine upon him.
THE LORD’S PRAYER To be sung (All Standing and joining hands) OUR FATHER, which art in heaven; hallowed be thy Name, Thy Kingdom come, Thy Will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive them that trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For Thine is the Kingdom, and the power and the glory, forever and ever. Amen. BENEDICTION RECESSIONAL HYMN Glad Reunion Day There will be a happy meeting in heaven I know When we see the many loved ones we’ve known here below. Gather on the blessed hilltops with hearts all aglow. That will be a glad reunion day. (Chorus) Glad day, a wonderful day, Glad day, a glorious day; There with all the holy angels and loved ones to stay, That will be a glad reunion day. There within the holy city we’ll sing and rejoice, Praising Christ the blessed Saviour with heart and with voice. Tell him how we came to love Him and make Him our choice. That will be a glad reunion day. When we live a million years in that wonderful place Basking in the love of Jesus, beholding His face. It will seem but just a moment of praising His grace. That will be glad reunion day.

GRAVESIDE Interment:
Grand Bahama Memorial Park
It’s Alright Now There was a time I travelled a lonely sinful road; Beneath a heavy burden bending low; But now all things are different, since Jesus took my load It’s alright now, I’m His I know. (Chorus) It’s alright now, for I am in my Saviour’s care It’s alright now; my Saviour hears and answers prayer He’ll walk with me, (He’ll walk beside me) Till I climb the heavenly stair, And everything (And everything is alright now) A’ down a lonely pathway, without a friend to guide, I walked in sin and sorrow all alone ‘Till Jesus came and found me, and drew me to His side; It’s alright now, for I’m His own. No more in sin I wander, no more in darkness roam The Lord has placed my feet on higher ground; Each day new heights I’m gaining, my soul is nearing home, It’s alright now, I’m heaven bound.
What A Friend We Have In Jesus What a friend we have in Jesus, All our sins and griefs to bear! What a privilege to carry Everything to God in prayer! O what peace we often forfeit, O what needless pain we bear, All because we do not carry Everything to God in prayer. Have we trials and temptations? Is there trouble anywhere? We should never be discouraged; Take it to the Lord in prayer. Can we find a friend so faithful Who will all our sorrows share? Jesus knows our every weakness; Take it to the Lord in prayer. Are we weak and heavy laden, Cumbered with a load of care? Precious Savior, still our refuge; Take it to the Lord in prayer. Do thy friends despise, forsake thee? Take it to the Lord in prayer! In his arms he’ll take and shield thee; Thou wilt find a solace there.
It Is Finished There’s a line that is drawn through the ages On that line stands an old rugged cross On that cross, a battle is raging To gain a man’s soul or it’s loss (Chorus) It is finished, the battle is over; it is finished, there’ll be no more war It is finished, the end of the conflict; it is finished and Jesus is Lord On one side, march the forces of evil All the demons, all the devils of hell On the other, the angels of glory And they meet on Golgotha’s hill The earth shakes with the force of the conflict And the sun refuses to shine For there hangs God’s son, in the balance And then through the darkness he cries Yet in my heart, the battle was still raging Not all prisoners of war had come home These were battlefields of my own making I didn’t know that the war had been won Oh, but then I heard the king of the ages Had fought all the battles for me And that victory was mine for the claiming And now praise his name, I am free.
