Bay Shore Inn is a Door County Landmark The property was originally the Hanson Farm when Door County was known for its Dairy Farms, Cherry Orchards, Stone Quarries and Shipbuilding Industry. In “the twenties” the Hanson Family decided to join the trend of the new and growing vacation and recreational resort enterprise. Matilda Hanson was known as the best cook in the County who never turned down a traveler who showed up at mealtime. In 1922 the original Bay Shore Inn was opened for business run by the Hanson family. Over the years, additional housing units began to dot the property. Eventually, Paul Mathias was named General Manager, Head Chef, Baker and part owner of the Inn. Paul’s wife, Susie, handled the front-end operations. In 1985 it was decided to recreate the business in line with trends in the Resort Industry. In 1991 the new Bay Shore Inn began operations as condominium suites. Bay Shore Inn of Door County is a year round resort minutes from Sturgeon Bay restaurants and shopping. Our spacious one and two bedroom suites offer king size beds, whirlpool tubs, fully equipped kitchens with granite countertops, HD TV’s, and a private deck to watch the breath taking sunsets across the bay from Potawatomi State Park. Continuous upgrades are being implemented throughout the buildings and grounds. Capture the picturesque beauty and intimacy of Door County for your wedding with Bay Shore Inn. We can accommodate up to 60 guests in our reception facilities. Local catering and entertainment options will make the event full of the splendor and magic uniquely experienced in the “Cape Cod” of the Midwest. Guests relax in our indoor and outdoor pools. They enjoy our fitness and game rooms, kayaks, paddle/row boats, complimentary bikes and tennis court. They feel as though they are part of “the family” and return year after year. Bay Shore Inn is a memorable place to stay!
