What is...

FESTIVAL?

Four days of fantastic music, quality food and real ale in the heart of North Yorkshire The Willowman loves sitting in the sun, eating good grub with a decent pint of real ale whilst watching an exceptional live band. After that’s settled, he enjoys heading into the crowd for a boogie with the best kind of people around!

BRAND/IDENTITY STATEMENT Our identity is important. It affects how people think and feel about the Willowman festival. The Willowman identity needs to be versatile enough to appeal to the myriad of different groups from all walks of life that attend the festival. The brand must be express our core values; Fun, family, diversity, tolerance and the appreciation of the best music, beer and food Yorkshire has to offer. The Willowman brand must be applied consistently across all aspects of the festival. This will build to give a cohesive look and feel, defining Willowman among all other small festivals, and making us stand out as different and special. 6

LOGO The Willowman logo and title bespoke typeface have been created using a simple square net. The festival name ‘Willowman’ must always be written using the Willowman bespoke typeface. When the festival year is used it must also be written in the Willowman bespoke typeface.

Primary logo/name ratio

Acceptable use of Willowman name

Acceptable logo/name ratio

LOGO & NAME When the name Willowman is to be used in conjuction with the logo where possible it should be in the ratio shown in figure.1. When both the name and the logo are to be used and the size ratio in figure.1 one is not suitable the Willowman name can be scaled both larger and smaller. However the Willowman name must never be printed smaller than the width of the logo. [fig.3] The Willowman logo must always be oriented as shown – not rotated – and not distorted other than in the approved ways shown in subsequent pages.

LOGO VARIATIONS The Willowman logo and type must be used correctly, but are highly versatile. There are several different approved variants of Willowman logo from translucent to distorted. The logo and Willowman name can be coloured as appropriate. This might be to provide information and accompany signage around the festival site. Though there will be several different variations of the logo and name used throughout the festival, each year should have a primary colour scheme or theme for use in marketing and front line signage. N.B. Though there are multiple versions of the Willowman logo, the Willowman name must not be distorted or altered in anyway but by colouring.

KIDS LOGO & TYPE All type other than the Willowman name and current festival year must be in the font Avenir Next. Signage should be in Avenir Next Medium [see examples on this page]. Type in maketing material and other information conveying text should be in Avenir Next Regular. Other variants within the font family can be used as appropriate.

PHOTOGRAPHY

All copy should try to convey the Willowman festival’s core principals:

The same principals should be taken into account when taking and choosing photography as when writing copy.

Fun, family, diversity, tolerance and the appreciation of the best music, beer and food Yorkshire has to offer. It will not be possible to convey these principals in all copy written. However thought should be taken when writing all copy to try.

In addition photography should be high-quality, inspiring, exciting and aspirational. We should try to avoid the use of staged presentation shots, static group shots or shots of people’s backs, except where shooting any stages. The festival should always look busy, vibrant and wherever possible warm and sunny.
