MAKING A SIMMER

Tell Your Story: Sims 4 Style

Sims 4 is not only famous as a fun video game but also helpful to unleash one’s creativity. Simmers develop creativity through Sims’ Create-A-Sim (CAS) and building features. While most Simmers feature their Sims from CAS or their builds, some Simmers feature something else— storytelling through screenshots or “screenies”. Simmers all over the world have used Sims 4 to tell stories and have posted it on different social media platforms— Twitter, Facebook and Instagram, etc. Among these three, Instagram is the most used platform in storytelling, with its ‘swiping’ feature, which makes reading easier for all audiences.

It is amazing how each person can come up with stories and use Sims 4 as their main material. The most common theme for Sims stories is all about love. Some feature familial love, romantic love, or unrequited love, which makes it relatable to the readers. Aside from love, others feature true-to-life scenarios such as school life, teenage life, family problems, illnesses, and much more, that truly touches one’s life, one way or another.

To add, it is interesting to see the unique style of each creator/storyteller. It can be seen in how they write their story, the content itself, and how they edit their pictures.

Image Above:TheGoldieSims - Image Below: Wrenn.S4 When I first read Simstagram stories, I was amazed by how these storytellers get their Sims to pose certain poses I have never seen in-game. Soon enough, I found out that almost all storytellers use in-game poses or animations (thanks to all pose makers and animators out there) to capture scenes that are fitting for their respective stories, and has added much realism to the story. This made me even more hooked, and I can say I am a self-proclaimed avid reader. Discovering this during the time of lockdown due to the pandemic, made things more bearable. Personally, I even got the idea and inspiration to start my own Simstagram story (A/N: which I think I will be contemplating on soon, tee hee).

To end, I am happy to share with you some of the Simstagram accounts that you may want to look into! (A/N: There are a lot actually and I wish I could give a shoutout to all. Enjoy!)
