n serpenteante camino de asfalto lleva hasta la cima del Cerro Lambaré. Allá en lo alto, se descubren un imponente paisaje de vegetación exuberante, vistosas casitas de todos los colores y el río Paraguay. En este mirador natural se puede apreciar al mismo tiempo las ciudades de Asunción y Lambaré. Y en días bien claros, sin humo ni niebla, hasta se puede divisar la ciudad argentina de Clorinda. Con sus 139 metros sobre el nivel del mar, el Cerro Lambaré es considerado el punto más alto de la capital del país. Se encuentra ubicado a escasa distancia del centro asunceno, y junto a los cerros Tacumbú y Ñemby, forma parte de la cordillera de Ybytypanemá. Aunque su formación data de alrededor de 50 millones de años, recién en

winding asphalt road leads to the top of Cerro Lambaré. From high above, you can see a stunning landscape of lush vegetation, colorful little houses and the Paraguay River. From this natural viewpoint the cities of Asuncion and Lambaré can be seen at the same time. And during clear days, when there is no smoke or fog, even the city of Clorinda in Argentina can be seen. Standing at 139 meters above sea level, Cerro Lambaré is considered the highest point in the country's capital. It is located a short distance from downtown Asuncion, and along with the Ñemby and Tacumbú hills, is part of the Ybytypanemá range. Although formed about 50 million years ago, it was only declared a national reserve area in 1948. Today, many varieties of birds and animals can be seen, as in ancient times it was covered by Atlantic forest.

Versiones de historiadores señalan que su actual nombre inclusive, deviene del Cacique Lambaré, quien lideró resistencia contra la invasión española en 1536. Sin embargo, Gustavo Laterza Rivarola en su libro Historia de Lambaré. Desde la Colonia Hasta el Municipio, refuta el hecho de que en el sitio ocurriera una gran batalla y hasta niega la existencia del mítico cacique. Según explica, la confusión nace en los escritos del alemán Ulrico Schmidt, uno de los historiadores de tiempos de la colonia.
Formerly, in the days of the original inhabitants, the summit was used by members of some tribes, who climbed up there to talk to Tupa (God). Versions by historians point out that even its current name comes from Cacique Lambaré, who led resistance to the Spanish invasion in 1536. However, Gustavo Laterza Rivarola in his book «History of Lambaré. From the colony to the municipality», refutes the idea of a war taking placeat the site and even denies the existence of the legendary chieftain. He explains that the confusion arises from the writings of the German Ulrich Schmidt, one of the historians of colonial times.

Cerro Lambaré En sus mejores épocas, el público visitante encontraba en el cerro unos telescopios para observar mejor el paisaje. En 1991 la Municipalidad de Asunción bajó del monumento La Paz Victoriosa -torre que se encuentra en la cima-, la estatua del dictador Alfredo Stroessner. La efigie había sido colocada ahí para rendir tributo a su personalidad. Como atractivo natural a escasos minutos de la ciudad, entonces el cerro era asiduamente visitado por las familias, algo que fue disminuyendo con los años. Durante años Lambaré y Asunción mantuvieron una disputa por la posesión del cerro, ya que este se encuentra en los límites de ambas ciudades. Finalmente desde el 2010 pasó a depender del municipio capitalino. Desde aquel momento se han introducido mejoras que intentan devolverle su antiguo esplendor. Se lo ha dotado de más personal de seguridad y limpieza para mantenerlo en condiciones. La deuda pendiente con los visitantes es un lugar donde puedan aprovisionarse de comestibles y agua fresca. Un rescate importante de este atractivo para los amantes de las distracciones al aire libre y para aquellos que piensan que el cielo puede estar mucho más cerca de lo que uno imagina.
In its prime, the visiting public would find telescopes on the hill with which to observe the landscape. In 1991 the Municipality of Asuncion took down the statue of dictator Alfredo Stroessner, which had been placed on top of the Victorious Peace Memorial tower located on the summit. The effigy had been placed there to pay tribute to his personality. As a natural attraction just minutes from the city, in those days the hill was regularly visited by families. This activity has decreased over the years. For years Lambaré and Asuncion were in dispute over possession of the hill, as it lay within the limits of both cities. Finally, from 2010, it became part of the municipality of the capital. Since then improvements have been made to try to restore it to its former glory. More security and maintenance personnel have been placed there to keep it in condition. The debt still owed to visitors is a place to stock up on food and fresh water. A major attraction for lovers of distractions outdoors and for those who think that heaven may be a lot closer than one can imagine.

í, es cierto, estudié arquitectura, concluí los años académicos, pero en verdad, lo que buscaba entonces era un camino que condujera al ámbito de mi interés cabal: el arte». Con estas palabras, Osvaldo Salerno rememora de qué manera la universidad lo sumergió por completo en el trabajo creativo. Mas tarde, la facultad fue reemplazada por otros espacios colectivos como la histórica Galería Arte-Sanos y el Museo del Barro, considerada por Salerno, el punto desarrollo de su profesión y vocación: la de creador visual, museógrafo, coleccionista, administrador de espacios culturales y curador. «Creo que todas esas facetas eclosionaron fomentadas por la existencia de ese espacio articulador y promotor de institucionalidad cultural: El Museo del Barro», considera. Aunque está vinculado a proyectos centrados en los Derechos Humanos (Archivo del Terror y Museo de la Justicia); al arte popular, indígena y urbano (Museo del Barro); a la consolidación de espacios sociales de artes visuales (Asociación Gente de Arte), y a la circulación de las obras de artistas desde Galería Fábrica, Salerno no descuida la producción de su propia obra, que parafraseando a Leonardo, «lleva más un largo ejercicio mental que una práctica de ejecución material».

La sala/museo denominada Los Goya del Paraguay, fue armada en reconocimiento a uno de los artistas más significativos de la historia universal: Francisco de Goya y Lucientes. Exhibe cuatro grandes series de grabados: Los Caprichos, Los Desastres de la Guerra, La Tauromaquia y Los Disparates. Esta muestra presenta un lote de 33 piezas originales que representan a cada una de las series. La colección pertenece al acervo del Centro de Artes Visuales / Museo del Barro. La misma fue expuesta de manera completa en un ciclo de muestras itinerantes llevadas a cabo en ciudades como San Lorenzo, Pedro Juan Caballero, Concepción, Ciudad del Este y Asunción, entre setiembre y diciembre del 2001.
The room/museum called The Goya of Paraguay, was assembled in recognition of one of the most significant artists of world history: Francisco de Goya y Lucientes. On display are four great series of etchings: Los Caprichos, Los Desastres de la Guerra, La Tauromaquia y Los Disparates. This exhibition presents a batch of 33 original pieces representing each of the series. The collection belongs to the body of the Visual Arts Center / Museo del Barro. It took part in a roadshow held in cities such as San Lorenzo, Pedro Juan Caballero, Concepción, Asunción and Ciudad del Este, between September and December 2001.

Cada 1 de noviembre, los cementerios se llenan de visitantes que con velas y flores de colores, acuden a honrar a sus seres queridos. Pero además de propiciar visitas a las tumbas de los que ya no están, El Día de Todos los Santos brinda la oportunidad de disfrutar de un paseo tan inusual como enriquecedor. En este sentido, el Cementerio de la Recoleta, ubicado en el barrio del mismo nombre en Asunción, es uno de los más atractivos. En su laberínticos pasillos se mezclan panteones de arquitectura neoclásica, Art Déco y Nouveau, con alegorías, bustos y estatuas en bronce, piedra o hierro fundido.
Every November 1st, the cemeteries are filled with visitors bringing candles and colorful flowers, coming to honor their loved ones. In addition to encouraging visits to the tombs of those who are departed, All Saints' Day provides an opportunity to enjoy a walk as unusual as it is enriching. In this sense, the Recoleta Cemetery, located in the district of the same name in Asunción, is one of the most attractive. In its labyrinthine corridors, neoclassical, Art Deco and Nouveau style pantheons mix with allegories, busts and statues made of bronze, stone or cast iron.

The aim of this cultural center, run by the Embassy of Spain in Paraguay, is to promote new esthetic trends as well as emerging bands and artists. The highlights of their monthly program are the educational activities, exhibitions, stage shows, concerts, cinema and seminars.

El Centro de Artes Visuales alberga al Museo del Barro, con más de 4.000 piezas correspondientes a producciones mestizas, desde el siglo XVII en adelante. The Center of Visual Arts houses the Earthenware Museum, with over 4,000 pieces corresponding to mestizo creations, from the 17th century onwards. The Contemporary Arts Museum (MPAC) is also located here, boasting a permanent collection of paintings, drawings, etchings, facilities, objects and sculptures of Paraguay; and the Museum of Indigenous Arts (MAI), which has over 1,750 pieces.

Su colección permanente está compuesta de casi un centenar de imágenes religiosas paraguayas, correspondientes a los siglos XVII y XVIII. Cada una de ellas posee un incalculable valor artístico e histórico. El museo cuenta además con una vasta librería, una tienda de merchandising y un café bar. This permanent collection constitutes almost 100 religious images from Paraguay corresponding to the 17th and 18th centuries. Every artifact is artistically and historically priceless. The museum also houses a bookstore, a store selling merchandising and a coffee bar.
Es la antigua sede del Cabildo y Parlamento Nacional, convertida en museo. Ofrece permanentes muestras de arte contemporáneo, de arte plumario y de fotografía. En sus salas de exposiciones temporales, auditorios y biblioteca, se desarrollan programas y proyectos culturales de difusión de las creaciones de artistas contemporáneos nacionales e internacionales. The former home of the City Council and National Parliament is now a museum. There are permanent displays of contemporary art, featherwork and photography. La colección del Palacio está determinada por la secuencia cronológica de las formas de Gobierno que consolidaron la Independencia del Paraguay, desde 1811 al 2011. Debido a su condición de sede presidencial, tiene estrictas medidas de seguridad y está prohibido el ingreso con cámaras fotográficas o filmadoras. The Palace collection is determined by the chronological sequence of the forms of Government that consolidated the Independence of Paraguay from 1811 to 2011. Due to its role as the Presidential Palace, strict security measures are in place, and it is forbidden to enter with cameras or video cameras.
Creado en 1985, alberga alrededor de 1.300 objetos históricos. Parte de su acervo tiene origen en la colección personal de Juan Sinforiano Bogarín, el primer arzobispo del Paraguay. El mismo inició esta colección recogiendo documentos históricos, a los que luego se fueron agregando otros objetos cedidos o donados. Created in 1985, it houses around 1,300 historic objects. Conserva invaluables piezas del arte universal del siglo XVII y comienzo del XX, además de arte paraguayo del siglo XIX y mediados del XX. Entre los objetos que guarda se encuentran monedas antiguas, muebles y variados objetos que pertenecieron a su creador, Juan Silvano Godoy. It houses invaluable pieces of art from the 17th century and beginnings of the 20th century, as well as Paraguayan art from the 19th and 20th centuries. Among the objects are antique coins, furniture and various objects that belonged to the creator, Juan Silvano Godoy.
Se encuentra en la colina más elevada del barrio Trinidad, de frente a la que fuera vivienda del primer Presidente Constitucional del Paraguay, Don Carlos Antonio López. En su interior se conservan retablos del periodo franciscano e imágenes de tamaño natural, que adquieren gran expresividad durante las fiestas de Semana Santa. Es un sitio de referencia en el circuito histórico asunceno y nacional, debido a que los principales protagonistas de la independencia del Paraguay (1811), usaron esta casa como sede de sus reuniones secretas. En ella se atesoran documentos y objetos históricos, además de mobiliarios, indumentaria, pinturas, retratos, y varios utensilios de la época.
La construcción de este templo de estilo romano se inició en 1893 y estuvo a cargo del arquitecto italiano Juan Colombo. Declarado Monumento Histórico Nacional, también se convirtió en hospital de sangre durante la Guerra del Chaco (1932-1935). Además de su peculiar estilo arquitectónico, es la única iglesia del país que cuenta con un órgano de tubos.
A cornerstone of the historical circuit around Asuncion and Paraguay, as the protagonists of the independence of Paraguay (1811) used the house as the venue of their secret meetings. Exhibited within are historical objects and documents, as well as furniture, clothing, paintings, portraits and various utensils from the era.
The construction of this roman style temple began in 1893 and was under the charge of Juan Colombo. Declared a National Historic Monument, it was also used as a field hospital during the Chaco War (1932-1935). Apart from its unusual architectural style, it is the only church in Paraguay with a pipe organ.

It holds a vast collection of testimonial objects from the War of the Triple Alliance (1864-1870), among them the mural of Holden Jara titled Camino a Cerro Corá (The way to Cerro Corá), the composition desk used by the newspapers that were edited during the war, as well as personal objects belonging to General José Eduvigis Díaz.
Además de documentación sobre la fauna y la flora nacional, posee colecciones científicas dividas en ejemplares en seco (animales y plantas, organismos enteros o partes, nidos, huesos y dientes; conchas de invertebrados y otros exoesqueletos), y en líquido (animales y plantas, preparaciones histológicas, piedras, fósiles y minerales). Guarda además una serie de artículos indígenas pertenecientes a las diferentes familias lingüísticas de Paraguay. Previa solicitud, se realizan visitas grupales guiadas. Founded by Dr. Carlos Fiebrig and his wife Ana Gertz, the museum maintains and exhibits a variety of native species, some in danger of extinction. It also holds a selection of artifacts that belonged to the different linguistic families of Paraguay. On request, guided tours for groups can be arranged.

Toda la historia del fútbol sudamericano y sus personajes está concentrada en este museo de 1.500 metros cuadrados. En dos niveles conectados por una rampa, es posible contemplar trofeos, camisetas y otros objetos históricos, y ver una película en 360 grados sobre los orígenes del futbol y su evolución en América del Sur. The whole history of south american soccer and its characters are concentrated in this 1.5 square km museum. On two floors, connected by a ramp, the visitor has the chance to view the trophies, jerseys and other historic objects, and watch a 360 degree movie about the origins of soccer and its evolution in South America.
Diseñado por el uruguayo Carlos Zucchi, este monumento histórico de estilo neoclásico está compuesto de tres naves divididas por una fila de arcos, además de las tres campanas que forman las torres del campanario. En 2009 fue escogida por la Organización Capital Americana de la Cultura como el cuarto tesoro del Patrimonio Cultural Material de Asunción. Designed by the Uruguayan Carlos Zucchi, neoclassic style historic monument is made up of three naves divided by a row of arches, as well as three bells that form the bell tower. The heart of the neighboring country offers natural attractions and inviting colonial architecture which invite you to travel from end to end. Situada a más de 2.570 metros de altura, Cochabamba es la tercera ciudad en importancia económica de Bolivia. Con un clima primaveral que ronda los 24°, es una buena opción para visitar en el país limítrofe. La metrópolis tuvo dos fundaciones, en 1571 y en 1574. Se encuentra rodeada por fértiles valles que son alimentados por aguas provenientes de la cordillera de los Andes. Por esta razón es conocida como Ciudad Jardín. En cuanto a la infraestructura hotelera cuenta con Aparts Hoteles, hoteles, hostales, residencias y alojamientos. Entre las opciones turísticas se encuentra la plaza principal, la cual se halla rodeada de espléndidas casas coloniales. Para los amantes de las vistas imponentes, qué mejor que visitar el Cristo de la Concordia, que con sus 33.40 metros de altura y un sistema de transporte a través de teleféricos, regala una magnífica vista del valle. Quienes quieran conocer los vestigios de la vida precolombina de las diversas etnias de Amazonia, Chaco boliviano y los Andes, además de la prehistoria misma, pueden visitar el Museo Arqueológico. En cuanto al turismo de naturaleza, se tiene la opción del Parque Nacional Toro Toro y el parque Machia Inti Wara Yassi.
Located at an altitude of over 2570 meters, Cochabamba is the third most important economic city in Bolivia. With spring-like weather and an average temperature of around 24 °, it is a good place to visit in the neighboring country. The metropolis had two foundations, in 1571 and in 1574. It is surrounded by fertile valleys fed by water from the Andes. For this reason it is known as the Garden City.
