Message from the Chair

It’s hard to believe it is already May. Spring is upon us, and with it comes the promise of another great summer in the Sioux Falls region – complete with backyard barbecues, rides on the bike trail and lots of orange cones on our streets!

Through the seasons, your Greater Sioux Falls Chamber of Commerce rarely slows down. We’ve had several great events and accomplishments recently that I’d like to highlight.

It has already been more than a month since the 2024 state legislative session concluded, and as always, your Chamber was actively involved in lobbying. VP of Public Policy Mitch Rave spent the session in Pierre carrying the Chamber’s pro-business message. A major win this year was the $10 million appropriated for airports in South Dakota, a portion of which will assist in the much-needed expansion of Sioux Falls Regional Airport. We also worked to secure funding for the quantum computing initiative at DSU and were very closely engaged in the discussions on rules surrounding carbon pipelines. This issue includes our annual Legislative Scorecard, which shows how your elected officials voted on issues important to the business community. Check it out - you might be surprised by a few of the results!

One of the Chamber’s signature programs is Leadership Sioux Falls. It introduces participants to many aspects of our community and prepares them for their roles as current and future leaders. I extend my congratulations to the graduates of Class 38. I look forward to seeing the impact you will have in the years to come.

Finally, on May 18 the Chamber will host the Armed Forces Ceremony in honor of all current members of the military. Please plan to attend and help us show our gratitude to those who serve.

As always, I am so amazed by the sheer number of volunteers that step up for the Chamber and our community. I am continually reminded that when we Work in Concert, we can secure a bright future.

Canopy by Hilton Sioux Falls Downtown appointed Hristiyana Ralinova as general manager and Richard J. Fischer as director of sales and marketing of the 216-room lifestyle property, which is expected to open in October this year. Ralinova is a hospitality veteran with nearly 20 years of experience with Hilton at D.C.-area properties. She most recently served as hotel manager for Canopy by Hilton Washington D.C. The Wharf. Ralinova is responsible for all pre-opening activities for Canopy by Hilton Sioux Falls Downtown, from recruitment to training, and will oversee all aspects of hotel operations once the property opens its doors. She holds a master’s degree in marketing and international business from the University of Economics in Bulgaria. Fischer has 25 years of experience in various sales and marketing roles throughout the Midwest. Most recently, he served as director of sales and marketing for Homewood Suites by Hilton Edina Minneapolis. Fischer will lead all strategic sales and marketing endeavors for Canopy by Hilton Sioux Falls Downtown, while supporting the hotel’s mission to provide outstanding service to guests. He holds a bachelor’s degree in business from Western Michigan University.

LSS named Staci Jonson as vice president of program operations. She has more than 15 years of experience working in various roles supporting children, youth and families and has served as LSS Senior Director of Children and Youth Services since 2018. Jonson’s responsibilities will include broad oversight of agency statewide services and collaboration with senior leaders and directors to ensure standards of quality service and service delivery. Jonson earned her bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from the University of South Dakota and a master’s degree in social work from the University of North Dakota.

LSS named Cheryl Kappenman as the new vice president of human resources. She will be responsible for oversight of all aspects of human resource operations, including strategy development for workforce recruitment and retention, policy and procedure development, compliance with state and federal regulations, continued accreditation, benefit negotiation and enrollment and payroll operations. Kappenman has more than 25 years of experience in human resources management. She is a graduate of South Dakota State University with degrees in geography and sociology and she holds certifications as Professional in Human Resources (PHR) from the Human Resources Certification Institute; Certified Professional in Human Resources (SHRM-CP) from the Society for Human Resources Management; and certified in 360 Assessment by the Center for Creative Leadership.

Michelle O’Connor is the new Executive Director of The American Advertising Federation of South Dakota (AAF-SD). She replaces Maggie Saugstad, who held the director position for four-and-a-half years. O’Connor brings more than a decade of experience in the marketing industry as a media buyer and strategist.

MarketBeat has hired two employees. Jessica Mitacek has joined as associate editor. She previously worked at private equity firms and hedge funds in the New York City area in addition to freelance writing. Amanda Kjelden has joined as office coordinator and customer service specialist. She previously worked at Dakota Fluid Power as HR coordinator.

After a 44-year career in banking, Evan Ingebrigtson position as SVP Market President at Cornerstone Bank lished the Sioux Falls location, growing the employee team and overseeing the construction of the bank building while caring for and building a client base. Throughout his career, Ingebrigtson served many community organizations including terms as board president for the Sioux Empire Fair, Sioux Empire Farm Show, Big Brothers Big Sisters, and Habitat for Humanity. He has been recognized with numerous state and local awards including Agribusiness Citizen of the Year from the Greater Sioux Falls Chamber of Commerce and Habitat for Humanity Supporter of the Year. First Dakota National Bank announced the retirement of Dan Eisenbraun (2010-2024) and Walt Carlson (2011-2024) from its board of directors. Natalie Eisenberg, CEO of Click Rain, Inc., and Bill Even, CEO of National Pork Board, have both joined as new board members. Eisenberg has spent her career building brands across the region. She has held many roles in the marketing industry, each with a strong focus on helping people and businesses discover the unique qualities that help them stand out. She also serves as co-chair of the Riverline District Committee and as a board member for Great Bear Recreation Park. Even is responsible for leading Pork Checkofffunded research, promotion and education projects on behalf of the nation’s 60,000 pork producers. He also served as the Global Industry Relations Lead and Commercial Unit Lead for DuPont Pioneer® from 2010 to 2016 and as the South Dakota Secretary of Agriculture from 2007 to 2010.

The Governor’s Office of Economic Development presented Dean Dziedzic with its Excellence in Economic Development award during its annual conference in April. The award recognizes individuals who have excelled in economic development throughout their careers. As the vice president of economic development for the Sioux Falls Development Foundation, Dziedzic works tirelessly to build relationships with company decision-makers, connecting them with the resources they need to relocate or expand their businesses in the Sioux Falls area.

Nacha named First International Bank & Trust (FIBT) one of the Top 50 financial institution originators of ACH payments in the country in 2023. This national distinction was driven by FIBT’s payments division, Kotapay, which

processed 64 million transactions in 2023. Nacha recognized FIBT as the #41-ranked originator by volume in the nation.

Sales & Marketing Executives Inc. of Sioux Falls honored six individuals with their Women of Excellence Awards. Those chosen from 77 nominees to receive the awards were: Arin Gonseth, MarketBeat, for Excellence in Leadership; Kristin Hoefert-Redlinger, Northwestern Mutual, for Excellence in Marketing; Cindi Johnson, Grand Falls Casino & Golf Resort, for Excellence in Sales; Dr. Shannon Emry, Midwest Street Medicine, for Excellence in Public Service; Melissa Dittberner, Straight Up Care, for Entrepreneurial Excellence; and Samantha Vaselaar, Sanford Health, for Supporting Excellence.

The 2024 Legislative Scorecard

The advocacy work done by the Greater Sioux Falls Chamber of Commerce is an important benefit of membership. We serve as the voice of the business community, communicating with elected officials on issues that are important to our members. We also communicate to members the potential impact that policies may have on your business operations.

The 2024 Legislative Scorecard indicates how all 33 Sioux Falls-area legislators, plus leadership from both legislative chambers, voted on legislation that the Greater Sioux Falls Chamber of Commerce (the “Chamber”) took a position on during the 2024 Legislative Session.

The bills included on the Scorecard were measures deemed important to the Sioux Falls business community based on the legislative platform set by the Chamber’s Issues Management Council (IMC) and its Board of Directors. The scorecard indicates whether or not a legislator’s vote on a bill aligned with the Chamber’s position. Only legislation that was considered by the entirety of each legislative body was recorded on the scorecard. Recorded votes correspond

to the final form of each bill that was considered by each legislative body, and the Chamber’s position on the final form of that piece of legislation.

It is important to note that this scorecard is not necessarily indicative of all legislation or issues in which the Chamber was involved during the 2024 Legislative Session. Further, this document is not intended as an evaluation of any lawmaker, but rather it is presented as a factual record of how votes were cast on select issues of importance to the Chamber, its members and the Sioux Falls business community.

Bills included in the 2024 Legislative Scorecard

Funding for airport infrastructure: SB 144 appropriates $10 million in one-time grant funding to support airport terminal infrastructure projects and terminal improvement and expansion. Between passengers traveling for business and pleasure and freight transportation needs, a continued investment into the infrastructure of our airports is critical to future commerce and economic growth opportunities in South Dakota.

The Chamber supported SB 144. It was passed by the House (55/15) and the Senate (32/2) and was signed by the governor.

Quantum Computing Center: SB 45 appropriates $3 million in one-time funding to the South Dakota Board of Regents to establish a Center for Quantum Information Science and Technology. This supports the Board’s continued investment in the cybersecurity industry to ensure our public university system remains competitive and on the cutting edge of this continually advancing industry.

The Chamber supported SB 45. It was passed by the House (65/4) and the Senate (32/1) and signed by the governor.

Cybersecurity funding for counties and municipalities: SB 187 appropriates $7 million in one-time funding to the Office of the Attorney General to create a cybersecurity services initiative. These funds will support local county and municipal governments with their efforts to ensure the security of sensitive information and reduce their vulnerabilities to cyber-attacks.

The Chamber supported SB 187. It was passed by the House (66/4) and the Senate (28/5) and signed by the governor.

The Landowner Bill of Rights: SB 201 provides new statutory requirements that created regulatory uniformity in regard to certain linear pipeline projects, allows for counties to establish a surcharge of up to a one dollar per linear foot of carbon dioxide pipelines installed in their county, and creates rules and regulations to provide more transparency and safety for landowners in South Dakota.

SB 201 was the result of compromise and collaboration from many interested parties, and it saw much debate and amendment during session. SB 201 was supported by the Chamber. It passed the House (39/31) and Senate (24/10) and was signed by the governor.

Amend provisions regarding entry on private property: HB 1185 creates a process for landowners to be informed by companies requesting access to private land for surveying and siting projects. It also allows landowners to be compensated by that company for access to their property for said purposes.

The Chamber supported HB 1185. It passed the House (42/28) and the Senate (29/5) and was signed by the governor.

Define the requirements for granting a carbon pipeline easement: HB 1186 created easement standards for CO2 pipeline projects. It requires that all easements must be written to require an expiration date in ninety-nine years, as well as, that the easement be void if the pipeline is out of use for five years, or if the operator fails to file for permitting within five years.

The Chamber supported this legislation. It passed the House (41/29) and the Senate (24/10) and was signed by the governor.

Regulate the acceptance of a central bank digital currency: HB 1161 provides that the State of South Dakota, or any of its agencies or subdivisions, may accept a central bank digital currency for any type of payment. It also provides that a person doing business in South Dakota cannot solely accept central bank digital currency as form of payment and must offer another form of payment to a consumer.

The Chamber supported HB 1161. It passed the House (64/1) and the Senate (32/1) and was signed by the governor.

Amend provisions of the Uniform Commercial Code: HB 1163 updates the Uniform Commercial Code with provisions developed over several years by the Uniform Laws Commission and private industry. By passing this legislation, South Dakota’s commercial code will remain uniform and up to date with other states.

The Chamber supported HB 1162. It passed the House (44/21) and the Senate (27/6) and was signed by the governor.

South Dakota Men’s Penitentiary: SB 49 appropriates $236 million for the site preparation and construction of a new correctional facility for males.

The Chamber supported SB 49. It passed the House (58/11) and the Senate (27/6) and was signed by the governor.

South Dakota Women’s Penitentiary: SB 50 appropriates $23 million towards the site preparation and construction of a new correctional facility for females, to be built in Rapid City.

The Chamber supported SB 50. It was passed by the House (62/7) and the Senate (32/2) and was signed by the governor.

Water rights authorization: HJR 502 provides legislative approval for a future use water permit application by the Lewis and Clark Regional Water System. This Joint Resolution authorizes expanded water rights to Lewis & Clark Regional Water Systems for the use of continued and expanded clean water distribution in South Dakota, Minnesota and Iowa.

The Chamber supported HJR 502. It was passed by the House (62/7) and the Senate (28/5) and signed by the governor.

Appropriation for eligible water and wastewater projects: SB 53 appropriates $117 million of American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) dollars in the form of grant funding to go towards water and wastewater infrastructure across the state of South Dakota. The bill contained an emergency clause, making it effective upon signature by the governor.

The Chamber supported SB 53. It passed the House (69/1) and the Senate (31/2) and was signed by the governor.

Appropriations for water and environmental purposes: SB 16 creates appropriations to fund various water resource projects in South Dakota, and also adds the Dakota Mainstem Regional Water System Study to the list of these projects.

The Chamber supported SB 16. It passed the House (64/3) and the Senate (29/2) and was signed by the governor.

Appropriation for water, wastewater and storm water projects: SB 66 appropriates $12 million towards eligible water, wastewater and storm water projects across the state. This supports ongoing and future projects to update and grow the state’s water infrastructure.

The Chamber supported SB 66. It passed the House (69/0) and the Senate (32/0) and was signed by the governor.

Adopt the interstate counseling licensure compact: HB 1012 moved South Dakota to adopt the interstate counseling licensure compact, which allows professionals licensed in other compact states to practice with more ease in South Dakota. This bill supports our state’s workforce recruitment efforts by making the licensing process for professional counselors more streamlined.

The Chamber supported HB 1012. It passed the House (52/16) and the Senate (29/2) and was signed by the governor.

Adopt the advanced practice registered nurse compact: HB 1013 moved South Dakota to adopt the interstate advanced practice registered nurse licensure compact, which allows professionals licensed in other compact states to practice with more ease in South Dakota. It supports workforce recruitment efforts by making the licensing process for registered nurses more streamlined.

The Chamber supported HB 1013. It passed the House (47/22) and the Senate (30/3) and was signed by the governor.

Adopt the social work licensure compact: HB 1015 approved South Dakota to adopt the social work licensure compact, which allows professionals licensed in other compact states to practice with more ease in South Dakota. It supports workforce recruitment efforts by making the licensing process for social workers more streamlined.

The Chamber supported HB 1015. It passed the House (51/18) and the Senate (28/3) and was signed by the governor.

Adopt the psychology interjurisdictional licensure compact: HB 1017 approved South Dakota to join the psychology interjurisdictional licensure compact, which allows professionals licensed in other compact states to practice with more ease in South Dakota. This supports workforce recruitment efforts by making the licensing process for psychologists more streamlined.

The Chamber supported HB 1017. It passed the House (50/16) and the Senate (29/2) and was signed by the governor.

Major bills not included on the Scorecard:

Repeal the sunset on the reduction of the gross receipts and use tax rates: HB 1001 would have repealed the sunset clause that was included with the sales tax reduction passed by the legislature in 2023. This bill would have made the tax reduction permanent.

The Chamber opposed HB 1001. It passed the House (54/12) and failed in the Senate Appropriations Committee (7/2).

Clarify references to the court in a condemnation proceeding: HB 1203 would have changed the processes that are currently in place during condemnation proceedings.

The purpose of the Community Appeals Committee is to qualify and provide orderly scheduling of capital fund drives to the business community .

By vetting capital fund drives, the objective of Community Appeals is to affirm the project is a sound community investment and worthy of donor consideration .

It is the intent of the Chamber to encourage every business to carefully consider such requests . However, we also acknowledge that many businesses have limited resources for capital fund drives, both in an ability to properly evaluate them and a sufficient budget to contribute . Our Community Appeals process is intended to provide our members with assurance that a Community Appeals campaign is worthy of investment .

Application period open for Community Appeals

Beginning May 1, non-profit educational and social organizations may apply for the Greater Sioux Falls Chamber of Commerce Community Appeals scheduling consideration for the campaign cycle beginning November 2027. The deadline to apply is Aug. 1, 2024.

Applicants will present to the committee early this fall and the selection of the campaigns to be scheduled will be made by calendar year-end.

The Community Appeals vetting process is highly regarded to facilitate the capital campaign process for both the organizations soliciting, as well as for the businesses contributing to these causes.

The Community Appeals Committee prioritizes organizations that show an unmet need that exists within the Sioux Falls community and provide evidence that the solicitation plans have taken the private, public and business sectors of the community

into consideration when targeting available dollars for the capital campaign drive. Additionally, it is important that solid justification is provided on how the organization’s mission fulfills both a c ommunity quality of life and economic impact component.

The Chamber assists scheduled organizations to market their campaign, encourages members to contribute and provides a membership list to facilitate solicitations.

Building bridges through language

Forward Sioux Falls invests in English language program

Before each new semester, Dr. Randy Nelson visits approxi mately 45 locations across Sioux Falls to hang posters promoting the Bridges English Language Program at the University of Sioux Falls. He travels to businesses, churches and places of employment known to serve immigrants and refugees and talks to people about the program’s goal of helping non-native speakers become more proficient in speaking, reading, writing and listening in English.

“I have great respect for anyone who comes from another country to advance his or her life in the United States,” said Dr. Nelson, a professor of education at USF who also serves as the director of international education and leads the Bridges Program. “Language acquisition opens the door to more employment and educational opportunities and allows people to communicate intelligence and identity. Language is a key component of our identities.”

The Bridges Program operated at Kilian Community College for years but came to a halt when the college closed in 2016.

“The loss of the program left a significant gap in community services,” said USF President Brett Bradfield, who served as chair of Kilian’s Board of Trustees at the time of the school’s closing. “There were no other programs that taught entry-level English language classes to adults, and there was a huge need for that in Sioux Falls.”

USF reopened the program in 2017 with a commitment to operate it for two years. Bradfield credits Nelson for his leadership in

“President Bradfield and I were just catching up on the highs and lows of our day-to-day work, and I shared that I was looking for new paths to connect with different population groups within Sioux Falls,” stated Griffin. “When he told me about the history and impact of the Bridges Program, I was immediately intrigued.”

The Forward Sioux Falls 2026 program, as part of its business advocacy initiative, includes dollars designated for innovative programs of excellence, specifically toward diverse populations.

“Businesses are looking for ways to grow their workforce and to connect with new populations. The Bridges Program allows potential employees to gain the language skills they need to be successful in the workplace,” said Griffin.

The Joint Venture Management Committee of Forward Sioux Falls invited Dr. Bradfield to present a proposal for funding the Bridges Program. In January 2024, the committee approved the request, directing $112,000 to assist in operating the Bridges Program through 2026.

“Quite simply, the financial support Bridges needs fits within the Forward Sioux Falls budget and the program aligns well with the goals set by our investors. I am confident that this partnership will help employers connect with populations outside of their tradi tional circles, to create friendships and employment opportuni ties,” Griffin said.

Making an impact

“The people who enroll in this program primarily want to improve their career prospects or further their education,” says Dr. Nelson. “We are currently teaching about 80 students per year from all over the world, and it’s exciting to be part of this mission.”

Dr. Nelson indicates that many highly educated people come to Sioux Falls from other countries, but the language barrier often prevents them from fully utilizing their talents in the workforce.

The cost for enrolling in the Bridges Program is $100—not enough to cover the basics but enough to help students feel like they are investing in themselves.

Business Fair & Mixer features three Chambers

The Greater Sioux Falls Chamber of Commerce’s annual Business Fair & Mixer will feature an expanded lineup of vendor booths and a longer invitation list. Members of the Greater Sioux Falls Chamber of Commerce, the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and the South Dakota Black Chamber of Commerce are all invited to attend and participate in this year’s event.

The collaborative event will create opportunities to foster new connections across a broader section of Sioux Falls businesses.

Public invited to attend Armed Forces Day ceremonies

The Military & Veterans Affairs Committee of the Greater Sioux Falls Chamber of Commerce is hosting the annual Armed Forces Day program on Saturday, May 18. The program will take place at 10 a.m. at the South Dakota Military Heritage Alliance, located at 1600 W. Russell St.

President Harry S. Truman led the effort to establish a single holiday for citizens to come together and thank military members for their patriotic service in support of the country. On Aug. 31, 1949, Secretary of Defense Louis Johnson announced the creation of an Armed Forces Day to replace separate Army, Navy, Marine Corps and Air Force Days. The single day celebration stemmed from the unification of the Armed Forces under the Department of Defense.

The 2024 Armed Forces Day ceremony features a keynote address from Andrea Thompson, CEO of the Dakota State Applied Research Corporation. SDSU Metro Center planned

In an effort to support health sciences and future workforce building, Avera Health has made a generous gift to the South Dakota State University Foundation of its property at 33rd Street and Minnesota Avenue. The building will provide SDSU with a permanent home for its Sioux Falls-based programs in nursing and pharmacy.

The 44,359-square-foot building has served as Avera’s Sioux Falls Home Medical Equipment location. The SDSU College of Pharmacy and Allied Health Professions has leased a portion of the building since last fall. Renovation on the future SDSU Metro Center, containing the Avera health education center for these students, will begin this summer and continue through 2025.

SDSU awarded 491 degrees in the health professions in 2023, more than any other university in the Board of Regents’ system, according to the Regents’ 2024 Fact Book.

SDSU President Barry Dunn said the facility will expand SDSU’s ties to the state’s largest community. “The ability to educate and train students in a community supported so well by the healthcare industries will not only advance our academic programs but continue to play a pivotal role in meeting the workforce demands of our state and region,” said Dunn.

“We are proud to work with South Dakota State University on this space for their health science majors. Expanding and scaling our workforce is a major priority for Avera, and this collaboration will help expand capacity for SDSU,” said David Flicek, Chief

University officials say more than 400 students will be educated and trained in the new facility annually. That includes more than 150 students from the College of Pharmacy and Allied Health Professions and 240 students within the College of Nursing. Of those, 160 will be pursuing undergraduate degrees; another 80 are in the graduate program.

The new SDSU Metro Center will include classrooms, skills labs for nursing, research space for pharmacy, and simulation labs and student study areas serving all majors.

With unprecedented growth, the firm acquired an additional space next door at 230 South Main Avenue, which has doubled their office to 8,200 square feet.

“Our 10-year plan was to create a dozen new careers in Sioux Falls. We started with five employee owners in 2016, and today, our Sioux Falls office is home to 24,” said Catherine Dekkenga, AIA, Principal Architect, JLG Architects. “We are thrilled to see this kind of positive growth for Sioux Falls and JLG.”

JLG’s new space features a new configuration with five conference rooms, additional restrooms and breakrooms, desk workstations and a variety of comfortable, non-traditional workstation options. The new office also enhances its partnership with Rehfeld’s Art & Framing, a Sioux Falls gallery that displays regional artist collections on JLG’s workplace walls.

“We design for workplace well-being, and it’s important that we practice what we preach,“ said Dekkenga. “Like many offices, our employee-owners want options – this includes having the ability to work from a desk or work informally from an adaptable armchair, lounge area, collaborative space, or individual workspace.”

Giving United

The Sioux Empire United Way (SEUW) proudly raised $8,989,421 through its 2024 campaign. This reflects 95% of the annual campaign fundraising goal. SEUW will still be able to fully fund the 75 funded programs, as originally outlined.

“In 2023, we had programs that did not utilize their full funding award. With our commitment to ensuring every dollar raised is going to support the identified needs of the community, we are happy to be able to put those unused funds to good use in 2024,” stated Chief Operations Officer Christina Riss.

While SEUW is grateful to be able to support the needs in 2024, this year’s fundraising shortfall does not go unnoticed. United Ways across the country, who have historically depended heavily on giving through workplace campaigns, have been largely impacted by the changing landscape of workplace giving. Like many other businesses, other outside factors, like an unsteady economy and inflation, have proven to be a challenge in recent years and have resulted in a decrease in the total number of givers.

SEUW has been able to sustain their fundraising through larger individual gifts and one-time corporate gifts. Knowing this isn’t a consistent model for the future, SEUW Board of Directors leadership and staff have worked diligently to identify the strategic pillars that will help guide them into the future.

5 Mindy Merchant

Mindy Merchant has worked for Walmart for 25 years and is currently an Academy Coach. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in business management and leadership from Bellevue University. As a member of Leadership Sioux Falls class 38, Mindy enjoyed the opportunity to connect with people and organizations that are impacting our community. She volunteers as a mentor with Teammates Mentoring of Sioux Falls and spends her spare time traveling, reading, listening to music or hanging out with family.

Why does Walmart choose to invest in a Chamber membership?

Chamber membership is the right thing to do. To me, it signifies that our facilities are rooted in the community in which our associates live and work and that we are proud to be a part of the Sioux Falls business community.

How did you choose your career?

I chose my career by accident. Growing up, I wanted to be an attorney. When I began working for the company in college, I fell in love with retail. The interactions with associates and customers, the constant changes and the day-today experiences you encounter make for a rewarding career.

What is the best piece of advice you have received?

Get comfortable being uncomfortable. Step outside of your comfort zone and try new things (whether that is food, meeting new people, trying new activities). You will never know if you like something unless you try.

What is something you are optimistic about?

I am optimistic about the future of our community and the role which our youth will play in that. In the business community, you get the chance to see all the great things happening. In addition, having the experience of mentoring in the school district has allowed me to interact with the young people of today. They are excited for their chance to take on the world!

What is your favorite way to spend a day off in Sioux Falls?

Breakfast at The Original Pancake House, shopping with my niece followed by a walk through Falls Park. Dinner at one of the amazing restaurants downtown and a concert at the PREMIER Center.
